1. Using twrp
2. Have nAndroid backup of stock ROM + others on drop box......

If you used TWRP recovery to make the backup, you need to use TWRP recovery to restore.
Yes I know it was origanly made by clock work mod I have flashed cwm and it still can't find the back up the upload from phony to drop box made the file different some how

If u used TWRP for backup then u have to use TWRP only for restoring lol....

I had problems with recovery once rooted... I had to look for different versions to flash SU, cause it couldnt find the files on my sdcard, I did flash that with cwm..
try looking for all the clockworkmods recovery, and try one at a time till u find the one that works...
I cant remember, but only 1 worked for me...
then I had the same problem with twrp, the only twrp that worked for me was 2311, that one was through goomanager to flash recovery....
hope that helps...

What Rom did you try to flash and what kind of phone do you have? (Gsm or cdma)

The same happened to me when I tried to install a rom through rom manager, you are just going to have to install a backup or a different rom you did not download from the rom manager.

Just download Rom on computer and put in SD card then flash

I found it. I had to restore and wipe all data via recovery not reboot into an old backup. But I can't seem to find ANY roms that will work on my phone ? Can someone point me in the right direction to one that will work?
For cdma roms, look in Android development forum, there is a new Rom by simonsimon34, team blueridge

Marcus has linked in his Nyan Colonel thread the flash able to get back to CWM. Just make sure to uncheck inject twrp.

I recently flashed a 4.2.1 ROM but it had too many bugs so I tried restoring my stock (4.0.3) backup from TWRP but I keep getting caught in a bootloop. I've tried unrooting, rerooting, and trying the whole process over again, and I even remembered to flash the correct kernel after restoring my backup but no matter what I try I get the same result. It can never fully boot up. It continues to just hangs on the white HTC screen. If I'm missing something or doing something wrong can someone please help me out with a possible solution? Thanks

Flesh boot.img
Thank you but I did mention above that I also remembered to flash the kernel (boot.img) after restoring and that didn't do any good either. Any other ideas why this is going on and how I can solve it?

This happens mostly due to wrong kernel.but as you said you have the right kernel, then try installing some other custom Rom and kernel and extract data/app from nandroid backup using app like apk extractor.

Flash this image afterwards: Search for the file named (boot-TK-USB-CM10-201210112240.img) it will be fine.

Thank you but please note that Some ROMs boot up just fine. The problem is just restoring a backup (stock) if a new ROM didn't work out. It's the same process where my backups work until I install a new ROM and then am unable to restore a backup, leaving me stuck in recovery mode. So I need to know what I can do once in that postion. Why is it that after flashing a new ROM it doesn't let me restore my backup even after flashing the boot.img?? I will try that extraction method and see if that makes some sort of difference but I honestly don't think it'll do anything when it comes to just trying to restore.

I'm currently on cwm non touch recovery an want to upgrade. I'm not sure which one I should upgrade but I see a lot of devs suggest twrp touch recovery so I guess that one. Do I just download the recovery an flash it on cwm? An when I do have it installed how do I flash ROMs do I just select the ROM an the recovery will clear caches? Or do I have to flash another zip before like with cwm I flashed the super wipes?

To flash TWRP you to get Goo Manager from the play store.
Open it up and click on "flash rom"... it will ask you if you want it to find you one. Select that option.
It will then say it will DL TWRP. Once it is done with the DL it will flash TWRP to your phone.
And bam....your in the latest TWRP

Thanks!!!!! I did it already. When I'm going to flash a new ROM what do I have to do? On cwm der was the superwipe zip I had to flash before is it the same on twrp?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Dont use super wipe. Not good with TWRP.
Do a full backup first of your current rom. Do a complete wipe. When you hit the wipe option it will tell you all that it will wipe.
Next hit install from the main menu...choose you zip for your rom. Let it do its thing then reboot system.
All done

Installing twrp now, but would it conflict with my old cwm? Or does it get deleted?

Ok so I don't need to remove it, and recovery mode is now controlled by twrp? I'm making a fresh backup now anyway, better safe than sorry.
