i just installed twrp...whats the safest way to reinstall cwm? should i just reflash the cwm recovery tar file?
Yes, the tar file only changes up your recovery system.

I would like to know the opposite. How do I go from CWM to TWRP?
Is there a zip I can flash in CWM?
Also, why are you going back to CWM?

to get twrp just download goo manager click menu and click add open script recovery and now you have twrp to get cwm download rom manager and click instal clock work mod recovery

I have used Mobile ODIN to flash back and forth between recoveries. You can find ODIN flashable files for the different recoveries here.

Yes... Go to the twrp thread in the development section. I put a flash zip file for twrp there.

I think the easiest is to flash CWM just like anything else from within your current recovery. Takes just a second then reboot recovery and will have CWM.
1. Using twrp
2. Have nAndroid backup of stock ROM + others on drop box......
a. How to restore that back up, I have tried to restore using cwm recovery and it won't recognize it. When I pull backup off box it is a file with boot.IMG and etc in it. What do I do to use it

If you used TWRP recovery to make the backup, you need to use TWRP recovery to restore.
Yes I know it was origanly made by clock work mod I have flashed cwm and it still can't find the back up the upload from phony to drop box made the file different some how

If u used TWRP for backup then u have to use TWRP only for restoring lol....

I had problems with recovery once rooted... I had to look for different versions to flash SU, cause it couldnt find the files on my sdcard, I did flash that with cwm..
try looking for all the clockworkmods recovery, and try one at a time till u find the one that works...
I cant remember, but only 1 worked for me...
then I had the same problem with twrp, the only twrp that worked for me was 2311, that one was through goomanager to flash recovery....
hope that helps...
I'm currently on cwm non touch recovery an want to upgrade. I'm not sure which one I should upgrade but I see a lot of devs suggest twrp touch recovery so I guess that one. Do I just download the recovery an flash it on cwm? An when I do have it installed how do I flash ROMs do I just select the ROM an the recovery will clear caches? Or do I have to flash another zip before like with cwm I flashed the super wipes?

To flash TWRP you to get Goo Manager from the play store.
Open it up and click on "flash rom"... it will ask you if you want it to find you one. Select that option.
It will then say it will DL TWRP. Once it is done with the DL it will flash TWRP to your phone.
And bam....your in the latest TWRP

Thanks!!!!! I did it already. When I'm going to flash a new ROM what do I have to do? On cwm der was the superwipe zip I had to flash before is it the same on twrp?

Dont use super wipe. Not good with TWRP.
Do a full backup first of your current rom. Do a complete wipe. When you hit the wipe option it will tell you all that it will wipe.
Next hit install from the main menu...choose you zip for your rom. Let it do its thing then reboot system.
All done

Installing twrp now, but would it conflict with my old cwm? Or does it get deleted?

Ok so I don't need to remove it, and recovery mode is now controlled by twrp? I'm making a fresh backup now anyway, better safe than sorry.

I rooted a while back and did not install a recovery because both cwm and twrp were both having issues causing bootloops and not being able to restore a backup.
I always used cwm on my phones. I posted in the cwm thread but got no reply. Has the issue been fixed.
Is there a working cwm recovery that allows to restore backups?
Thanks!

I tried the one they have posted on galaxynote3root.com and it ended up booting into Odin mode. I then just used twrp and it fixed my problem. So I'm guessing so far we wait?

Just use fastboot. And which TWRP are you on? Or try flashing TWRP 2.5.0.0 or 2.4. x.x

fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

I just moved my backups from /sdcard/TWRP to /sdcard/0/TWRP and all my backups work just fine now. in fact i deleted everything in /sdcard/ minus the /0/ folder.

I'm confused your TWRP isnt working?
Have you tried flashing the latest 2.6.3.0 recovery using the Flashify app?
I did all my rooting/flashing WITHOUT a computer when I bought this thing new stock.
(LGPWN.apk>FreeGee>Flashify>DONE)
Flashify is THE most reliable custom recovery flasher on Google Play.
Others at times leave you on your current recovery.
