HELP possible brick - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I have a Sprint GS3 rooted, running Wicked Sensations 1.1 with PmR 2.1.2. I read that you could swap internal/external memory
so I tried that and now my phone wont turn on. Nothing. No recovery, no buttons work. Nothing.
Am I screwed?

If nothing comes on the it might be perma bricked I would see if I can find a charged battery and try booting into download mode before I called it quits tho.

That's what I was afraid of. I sent it off to be JTAGed. I'll let you know what happens.

Well I got my SGS3 back and all is well. It took about a week but it was better than buying a new SGS3. So I would recommend mobiletechvideo.com.
I am not associated / affiliated with them in any way. I'm just a modding fool that doesn't know when to stop

I've got the same issue on my hands....

It sounds like he sent the phone off to a place that could recover the phone using a JTAG programmer.

Phone won't boot, vibrates

I cannot turn on my phone at all, the Samsung logo comes up, screen blacks out and the phone just vibrates once every couple of seconds. If I'm lucky the phone will sometimes boot up but freezes and turns back off. It's nearly impossible for me to boot into recovery and do anything as the phone shuts off seconds later. Anyone have any advice, I've looked all over and only found one other person with this problem and no fix
Are you doing the combo correctly, release power after vibrate continue holding volume keys? Did you drop the phone causing this? Try pulling battery first then try recovery

yeah, that thread had helpful info. i tried the one guy's suggestion of gently working a tiny flat-head screwdriver around the power button, and it fixed my issue.
hopefully it won't come back too often, but at least i know what it is (faulty power button) and can send it in for repairs if need be. at this point, i'm just relieved i have another chance to backup my data!
well, the issue came back, and working a screw driver around the button isn't solving the problem. it'll go away for a very short period of time, and then come back.
more recently, i've started losing settings for open apps when the phone reboots randomly. freaking awesome. just lost my handcent settings, and can't figure out where the config file/db is so i can restore it from a backup. looks like i'll have to spend another hour or more fully customizing the blasted thing again.
Its gotta be a bad motherboard I had same issue and Samsung warranty it out and fixed it for free or you can find em on eBay i just bought a used one for 90 and works perfect

Power button could be stuck again. I fixed mine my flicking it with my finger every second and finally my phone would start up again. Guess screw driver would have been easier, haha. Would work for a month then the same issue would start again. Do you happen to use a D30 case?

[Q] Tmobile Saumsung Galaxy S II - Bricking

Here's the deal, the power port on my phone is getting lose, meaning that two connectors are off the motherboard. Also meaning I have to put the power cable at an angle in order to charge my phone. Went to T-Mobile today and talked with a friend, since my phone was bought off craiglist(no receipt) about options. (My phone is also rooted with AOKP Jelly Bean Build 4) He says that I can exchange phone for a new one, but I don't think I can bring it back to stock. The easiest way for me to get an exchange is to brick my phone. Today is Friday, and I need a way to do it by Monday. I figure I can try and take off Jelly Bean and see If that works(no back up). But I would link the easiest and safest option. Thanks in advance.
Well I'm not sure this is allowed to be a thread, but what I would do...download a rom for another phone and flash it.

Flash any ROM other our own or skyrocket. Also, you can pull the battery half way thru a flash. Dead phone for sure.

Have you tried a brand new USB cable? Micro USB cables are crap. If you take one apart you'll see that the connector itself is connected to the rest of the wire via some plastic contraption. This plastic piece breaks and that's when you can jiggle the connector itself up and down. Try it before you brick the device. IMO this thread or any others like this aren't inappropriate. We pay for insurance and after 2 years all that money adds up the the price if a new handset. Im gonna brick my phone at some point too and get another handset. That way that money isn't wasted lol. Also I've heard that tmobile doesn't care about people exchanging phones that are rooted and whatnot. Plenty of members on our forum have done this. Good luck!

I think CM 10.1 killed my GS-III

Since December I've been running CM10 on my GS-III with little to no issues. I flash CM 10.1 mid January and even though it was an unstable nightly it was very stable.
Flashing the nightlies as they became available with no issues at all.
Then today my phone starts slowing down and froze up.
Keep in mind that I hadn't flashed a nightly in like a day or 2 do I had been using the past nightly as a daily driver.
When my phone decided to freeze I rebooted it and it booted just fine.
About 2 minutes in the screen goes black. Holding the power button it's unresponsive.
Now my phone is completely unresponsive to all button presses. I've tried the 3 button combos for recovery and download mode with no luck. I've even held the buttons for a full minute but nothing is working.
Is my phone dead or is there a possibility of resurrecting it?

Are you positive the battery hasn't died. That would be the first thing I would check. Even if it showed it was charging doesn't mean the battery is good. I'm not trying to be insulting either by asking this. I'm a equipment tech at a large semiconductor company and you wouldn't believe the number of times the fix was as simple as turning a breaker back on when another tech wanted to replace something major. #1 rule of troubleshooting: Is there power. #2 rule: Double check rule #1. Sounds silly, but it is the easiest thing to overlook. Good luck and I hope it's as simple as a battery.

No you're not insulting by asking that. I use to record music and when something wasn't wasn't working that's the first thing we asked and re asked.
Unfortunately I do believe I checked that out. When I plug in a charger it doesn't even show me a battery charging logo.
I have noticed that when I pull out the battery and connect the charger the led turns red.
I'll see if i can't swap batteries with one of my friends and see if that helps.

I have tried the 3 button combos for T-Mobiles variant of the GS-III with no luck either.... I even tried making a jig and didn't have much luck....
Next step is to buy a jig and see if that works
Thankfully I got a replacement GS-III from insurance. So I'm content... Also since I get to keep the other GS-III as well it feels even nicer.

Now my next step is to attempt to hope that the jig will do something for my phone.

Flash STOCK or different ROM (Don't forget kernel too) think the issue is with the Cyanogenmod, mine did something similar, when screen went dark it took literally 5-10 Power button presses to wake the phone up, sometimes it wouldn't respond, other soft keys only would light up, Make backup, Wipe, install, check everything, that what I would do

The phone is dead. My friend's gs3 died suddenly one day while I just happen to be using it. I plugged in an otg plug and few minutes later the screen just went black. I was sure it was dead when I plug in a charger and there was no sign of life from the phone.
I don't know if you have to pay a deductible but Samsung is supposedly replacing galaxy s3 for free because there is a known defect which cause the motherboard to go bad. My friend's was a Verizon model and they just replaced it free.

Take it to Sprint ASAP. This happened to me a few months after getting my phone and I got it replace right there the same day. If they try to screw you saying "the phone has a chip on the screen we can't test it out and take it apart" blah blah blah. Throw in there that the phone overheats while charging and when in use and they will change their tune quickly. When the S2 came out I got one that got extremely hot when charging almost to the point of blistering my hand without the battery cover. I took it back and they replaced it quick as hell lol. When I took it in for the power issue i had a small chip in the corner of my screen and they refused to replace the phone because they couldnt test the power button thing due to not being able to take apart the screen without causing further damage to the phone. They wouldn't budge even though I had issurance since day 1. Decided to tell them about the overheating issue and the tech told me hold on and came back in 5 minutes with a new white one (I had a black one) and I left the same day. Black was on backorder for 14 days and I was not going to have a phone that kept rebooting making it basicly useless for 2 weeks.
TL;DR Take it to Sprint ASAP. The Fix is free and mention it overheats to extreme temps and it'll be replace on the spot or when they receive a replacement from sprint. 3 days max.

I am new to T mobile and I would like to know if anyone here knows how T Mobile would go about the whole my GS4 doesn't turn on now because of something I did? Or should I just say I lost the phone?

Your best bet is to say you lost it, that way they will
not ask questions or even think about checking out

It's a lot easier and faster to get a replacement that way.

Got it to work for a few mins an then it just froze on me and I had to pull the battery out to reset. After rebooting it just stayed on a black screen like if its not even on. I tried all that an nothing. Odin nothing. When i plug it in PC or charging outlet with original charger nothing happens either nor those it light up with charging battery icon.

First thing it says... "It is an experimental development snapshot that can potentially brick your device." Someone on xda already had a pretty good running Ubuntu rom released so you didn't have to mess around. From the sounds of it, seems you may have hard bricked it. Maybe I am being hopeful, but connect the phone to your computer and look for any hardware changes. Any sign of life? And to answer your other question, if it is indeed a hard brick, without a JTAG/jig you are screwed.
