I have 2 Epics, soon to be 3 that need to be wiped for selling them.
All 3 are rooted with Clockwork Mod on them. Is there a way to wipe the phones back to 100% stock?
Use ODIN to return both to stock. Make sure you have Samsung drivers installed on your PC.

First off questions go in Q&A
Second: google how to restore a semi-bricked epic xda and it will point you to the thread in development that explains it and has links to the files. You need to odin it to stock.

why not sell them rooted probably get more money for it not to mention. i know a lot of people on craigslist always wanting rooted phones.
Unless your selling them to a store that's different but even then they;ll just restore them, themselves.
How much are you selling them for? What condition are they in? I wouldn't mind picking up a decent one for a decent price, and it would save you the trouble of cleaning it, I'd be flashing a different ROM on it anyway and starting fresh from there.

Thanks for the replies. I have used Odin 20x to return a phone to stock. Just wasn't sure that pulled clockwork totally off. Is there a way to clear the flash counter on it?
I was thinking I would either sell them to Sprint or sell them on EBay. 2 of the 3 are in daily driver condition. The other 1 is perfect except for the charging port. Depending on the angle of the charging cable, it doesn't always charge. I'm not looking to make a bunch of money. But if they will sell for a decent price on EBay, that's what I will do. Not sure what the going rate is.

Please share a link to where you end up choosing to put them up for sale.

Lots of people (including me) buy used phones because they are not up for an upgrade and dont want to pay the ridiculous full price...I fail to see WTF is wrong with that...I do agree that u should make sure its fully funtional before buying it but that aint the way of telling them that
....sorry....it just pisses me off seeing that every new person looking for help here gets talked **** to by the 3rd post.

haha thanks everyone and no they didnt offend me at all cause im not a noob but im also not a developer, i just cant get my phone into download mode because of the usb port malfunction i actually didnt know it was bad at the the time only because it still charged and what not but i traded an HD2 for it and was done messing with it, i wanted something new and its going to be new to me also installing this usb port haha so wish me luck i also bought one of those usb jigs off ebay to hopefully get me into download mode, everytime i use my cable it goes straight into stock recovery if it wasnt for that i would be flashing away! ive tried everything getting it into DL mode, also ive tried getting it warrantied but tmboile says ive had too many exchanges ha so im SOL on that one, i had the g2x before the hd2 and suppovsevly according to them its my fault they kept sending me POS phones esp since the g2x has been EOLed i mean cmon. they knew that phone had nothing but problems why still send it to people

No problem, also welcome to the community. Hope you are able to fix that usb.
One last thing though, now don't quote me on this, but I remember reading that using the usb cord from a g2x or I think any lg phone would get you into download mode. Not exactly sure how it worked, but I think you turned off the phone, connected the usb to the phone, then to the computer. And then power on the phone and it would take you to dl mode. Not 100% sure but you might want to look into that

To the OP, best of luck and let us know how it goes. There are DIY tutorials a well for usb port repairs.
And as for buying used phones, we must be careful. But otherwise, I say go for it. My SGS2 was purchased used via Craigslist and it's been running great with zero problems. I suggest everyone considering a used purchase visit the xda forum associated with the phone and see what kinds of problems/defects have been common with the phone so you will know what things to look for when you make the buy.

From what I know, warranty covers only defected hardwares. Only if the phone has a problem but you didn't caused it.

USB port issues are considered hardware and covered under warranty unless showing clear signs of abuse. If you have lose port and can no longer charge or need to wiggle to make connection, send your phone in for service. Don't forget to flash stock JB and unroot and relock your phone. All can be accomplished within 10 minutes with root toolkit available in the Android development section as a stickie

Since December I've been running CM10 on my GS-III with little to no issues. I flash CM 10.1 mid January and even though it was an unstable nightly it was very stable.
Flashing the nightlies as they became available with no issues at all.
Then today my phone starts slowing down and froze up.
Keep in mind that I hadn't flashed a nightly in like a day or 2 do I had been using the past nightly as a daily driver.
When my phone decided to freeze I rebooted it and it booted just fine.
About 2 minutes in the screen goes black. Holding the power button it's unresponsive.
Now my phone is completely unresponsive to all button presses. I've tried the 3 button combos for recovery and download mode with no luck. I've even held the buttons for a full minute but nothing is working.
Is my phone dead or is there a possibility of resurrecting it?

Are you positive the battery hasn't died. That would be the first thing I would check. Even if it showed it was charging doesn't mean the battery is good. I'm not trying to be insulting either by asking this. I'm a equipment tech at a large semiconductor company and you wouldn't believe the number of times the fix was as simple as turning a breaker back on when another tech wanted to replace something major. #1 rule of troubleshooting: Is there power. #2 rule: Double check rule #1. Sounds silly, but it is the easiest thing to overlook. Good luck and I hope it's as simple as a battery.

No you're not insulting by asking that. I use to record music and when something wasn't wasn't working that's the first thing we asked and re asked.
Unfortunately I do believe I checked that out. When I plug in a charger it doesn't even show me a battery charging logo.
I have noticed that when I pull out the battery and connect the charger the led turns red.
I'll see if i can't swap batteries with one of my friends and see if that helps.

I have tried the 3 button combos for T-Mobiles variant of the GS-III with no luck either.... I even tried making a jig and didn't have much luck....

Flash STOCK or different ROM (Don't forget kernel too) think the issue is with the Cyanogenmod, mine did something similar, when screen went dark it took literally 5-10 Power button presses to wake the phone up, sometimes it wouldn't respond, other soft keys only would light up, Make backup, Wipe, install, check everything, that what I would do

The phone is dead. My friend's gs3 died suddenly one day while I just happen to be using it. I plugged in an otg plug and few minutes later the screen just went black. I was sure it was dead when I plug in a charger and there was no sign of life from the phone.
I don't know if you have to pay a deductible but Samsung is supposedly replacing galaxy s3 for free because there is a known defect which cause the motherboard to go bad. My friend's was a Verizon model and they just replaced it free.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
So long story short, I broke my Samsung Galaxy SIII T999 about a month ago and sent it in to be replaced through my insurance. I thought they had sent me another T999 but instead, they sent me the newer T999L model. I was unaware of this until I managed to hardbrick my new phone by trying to install a firmware for the T999 Model. Lesson learned, 'nuff said.
Now, to my REAL problem.... I've managed to contact a local guy who repairs hardbricked phones via Riff Box/Jtagging. But because this phone is such a new model, there isn't currently an "official" resurrection file out for the T999L. I got in contact with a guy on ebay who repairs phones and he stated that he had created his own resurrection file for the particular model. Buuuuuut he didn't want to share or sell it
Does anyone have access to a T999L resurrection file? I'm a little skeptical of sending my phone to be repaired, just because I've heard stories of phones not being returned and etc. Would my only other option be to perhaps swap out the motherboard on the phone?
Unfortunately, there isn't one. Motodefier and I have been working on creating one, but its not quite ready yet. Almost, but not quite. Ill try to get back to looking at it tonight.
For actual, official firmware, youd have to wait for an update from sammy &T-Mobile.
Our thread is in the development section if you want to take a look.
Sent from my SGH-T999L using xda premium
Ahhhh, thats what I figured. Well thanks for the clarification I really appreciate it. Good luck on finishing that resurrection file :good:
If you do end up sending it in for repair, check out mobiletechvideos.com
I'd steer clear of the guy who supposedly has it, but won't share it. Sounds shady to me. (He may just be waiting for us to finish it!)
As for mobiletechvideos.com, lots of people have given positive reviews in this forum and I've never seen a negative one.
I've seen one other mentioned here that was just as good but cheaper, but can't remember more than that. Maybe someone else remembers.
Sorry I haven't got ours working btw. Ill be able to get back on it again tonight. I'm not the only one working on it though. So keep an eye on our thread.

Its going to be hard to create an unbrickable mod, which I think is probably what you will need, qualcomm simplified thier pinout configuration for the MSM8960 board to keep us from getting into thier pbl but I know it can be done, we will just have to work on it, I will see what we might be able to come up with software wise for a oneclick unbrick for the T999L. Might be hard without having a bricked device to test it on, I will see if I can find one for sale on ebay or something. Its just a matter of time before it happens regaurdless of who gets it done. No promises but we will work on it. You might check this thread and see if you can get some support to adapt it to the T999L http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2023069

I'm gonna stay stock until theres some heavy dev work done, don't need a :banghead: hard brick...

We are currently working on it, I think we're getting close, but not quite there yet. I believe DocHoliday77 has finished the md5's you can use in cwm or twrp but you should double check with him, as we are going through so much info, its a little hard to keep up with everything.

Is there any solution for this? I think I got in exact same situation, got a replacement phone and figured out they sent me SGH-T999L version only after I flashed

If you can get it into download mode, this is the full stock untouched odin flashable package http://sourceforge.net/projects/d2ltetmo/files/latest/download

Your only hope outside of a warranty claim or jtag service would be to buy a jig on ebay, and see if that will do it, I had my samsung vibrant do the same back in the day, and the jig saved me, its worth a shot they are usually only 2-5 bucks, beats buying a new phone.

Yeah, thats what I thought and ordered one already. Is recovery process easy as they say in description? They say just plug it in and after 2 sec download logo would appear?
that jtag thing is a micro usb piece probably with some kind of program written in it, why can't developers send those commands through regular usb cable so the phone thinks its jtag?

If the jig works for you, yes it is as easy as they say you will get the download mode logo very quickly after plugging the jig into your phone. If it doesn't work the first time, try borrowing someone else's battery because your battery could possibly be dead, it shouldn't be, but that happened to my Vibrant and I thought it was hardbricked, until I tried another battery, also sometimes the cheaper jigs won't work if your battery isn't fully charged, the one I bought didn't work the second time I used it, battery was around 70-80% I replaced the resistors with some I bought at fry's and it works every time, probably something to do with the quality of resistors being used. If they show a jtag as just a micro usb then its labeled wrong, jtag is usually performed with a riff box, both software and hardware are required to perform a jtag service, and it usually involves getting access to certain contact points on the motherboard, send me the link to what they are calling a jtag I would like to look at it, but most likely it's just a jig, Jtags are pretty expensive because of the type of software they require.

Yeah, youre right, it's jig http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Jig-Don...Phone_PDA_Cables_Adapters&hash=item51acb6eae7
Do you think it will work?
Another option I saw on ebay you can send your phone to somebody and they fix it for 25-50$ + shipping.
