From what I know, warranty covers only defected hardwares. Only if the phone has a problem but you didn't caused it.

USB port issues are considered hardware and covered under warranty unless showing clear signs of abuse. If you have lose port and can no longer charge or need to wiggle to make connection, send your phone in for service. Don't forget to flash stock JB and unroot and relock your phone. All can be accomplished within 10 minutes with root toolkit available in the Android development section as a stickie

What if I've had problems with my speaker cutting out mid calls since I got? The phone has been dropped once and has a couple dings but its been doing that since I got it and the drip had nothing to do with it. Will Verizon still give me a replacement without charging me?

Ugh just realized mine has issues with the USB port. I only charges when the USB cord is pushed up ever so slightly. What's the turn around time for warranty repairs?

My wife recently dropped her phone and has to send it in to get replaced, so now we need to unroot it. I went through all the steps of unrooting to get s-on which it now is. The only problem was when I tried to reinstall the PC36IMG.zip file it says the version is to old and cannot install. I was wondering if anyone has the link to the NON ROOTED OTA PC36IMG.zip. Or I am wondering if she downloads and flashes the update.zip file if it would it delete the superuser app??
Please help
From what I've seen on here, when it comes to physical damage to your phone, Sprint no longer cares if you're rooted, only if you brick the phone will they not honor the warranty.

Not true for me at least (Boston area). My phone randomly reboots and the usb is broken so I couldn't unroot so I took it to Sprint and they said its against policy to work on rooted phones

They have already sent her a replacement phone. I am not worried about that. I just want to return the phone without any questions being asked.

They wont care, when they refurbish the phone they are gonna update the software anyway and totally wipe your phone, erasing whatever you had on there

I would go to a different Sprint store, your phone being rooted has nothing to do with your USB port being crappy, same thing happened to my USB port, I took my phone in, explained my phone wouldn't charge (by then my battery was drained) they went to the back and brought me out a replacement. The USB is a known issue with the evo they should have replaced your phone

Yeah the fat b**** in the back of the store that repairs the phones wouldn't even touch my phone when she heard it was rooted... and when I did unroot she gave a time of 2 hours just to clear storage on the phone even though I said I already did that. On top of that they said a replacement would be available over night... two days ago. Now I'm stuck waiting

So I guess it vary from store to store. I think my store might be cool. Actually one of the techs there taught me how to unlock my old palm pre. Oh and my usb port is starting to go. Does anyone know how it might work out if you just "lost" your phone?

What kind of puter? You got the right samsung drivers?
I tried on my laptop (Mac) and desktop (windows) and yes they have the right drivers
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Well your mac laptop won't need drivers. If it's plugged in and your phone has the settings box checked for "MTP" then it'll be recognized. Did you download Android File Transfer? You'll need it to transfer files.
Is USB debugging checked? If so, uncheck it and try to install the drivers again. If you can't, shoot me your Gmail and I'll help you through G Talk.
Custom kernel? Make sure USB fast charge is off.
Ok! I tried the new cable that came with the replacement and it works just fine... its weird that the cable I have is not working anymore..

"Made in Korea" means it was manufactured by Samsung directly and not outsourced to some factory in China.
If you're unhappy with the signal drops you can try to get another replacement, or look at the threads here on signal drops for solutions
Yeah! I'm looking for ways to fix it.. but the one I had was made in china and was brilliant no drops nor anything. I curse the day I dropped and cracked the screen.. do you think I can just go to the Verizon store and ask them for a replacement

If you're within the return period, they will replace your device no questions asked. If you're over it, it would depend on the store you go to but more likely than not you have a good chance.
Just make sure you're stock and not rooted
I called yesterday and after a couple of minutes well an hour to be exactly they're going to send me a new device. That's what she said. But since today is 4th of July the phone should be here by tomorrow..

Ok so here is the story, I noticed my micro usb was fitting in my phone pretty losely a few days ago. I didn't think anything of it, but today I was at work with 30% battery. So I go to charge it (stock wall mount & usb from my house) and noticed it wasnt charging. So after work I went to the mall to buy a charger, the ones they had didn't work, so I went to tmobile, and there's didn't work either. I came to the conclusion that my usb port is broken =/ my phone was completely dead for a few hours (plugged in the wall at home, hoping it'll charge) and as of 3 hours its gone from 0% to 15%, and the charging "lightning" bolt isn't over the battery indicating a charger is being recognized. Also it doesn't say its charging on the lock screen either. I am completely confused, is it a bad usb port? Bad battery? What should I do? I'm using an old G2 I found in a drawer until I find a solution.
Also I bought my Phone from some guy on craigstlist eliminating possible warranty right?
Thank guys!

You can still try warranty and see if that works. I guess when you are submitting the service request just say what's wrong. I bought a phone from someone some time ago and sent it in for repair. Fixed no questions asked.

You call Samsung of course. But when I called them for a warranty, they asked me for the receipt. So you might need it too... But doesn't hurt.

Here's an update. I pulled the battery out and back in then kept the phone off while the charger was in the phone, so it showed the Barry charing icon. I let it sit that way over night and when I turn the phone on this morning its 100% battery, but frankly it won't charge back up again. Its not recognizing my charger, I'm guessing it'll only charge the phone if the phone is off?

I just bricked my S3 and whenever I plug it in, eventually, some combination of button presses makes a red LED show up, however, no screen on. Whats even weirder is that when I plug it in, it see's some thing called QHSUSB_DLOAD, and attempts to install drivers for it. I'm wondering if this might allow me to fix it? If all else fails, can someone refer me to a JTAG repair service...
Edit - When I attempt DL mode, I can even hear it disconnect, then reconnect. It fails the driver install though.
Unfortunately bud your hard bricked.

I was making a port from the S2. I changed the updater script to let it flash, it did, and then it killed me.
Update: WOW. T-Mobile replaced it for me! I don't even have warranty left! Yet again, my company saves me.

All I did was brought it into the store, handed it to the guy and said it was broken. Said I had a FACTORY warranty (from Samsung), and that Samsung told me to have the store do the replacement for me. The guy behind the desk said, "Yeah, whatever you stick your SIM into, as long as it's T-
Mobile, your covered. You can even buy phones offline,". It's going to be here monday. Shipped Friday, next day shipping, only 5$. I'm so happy I'm not paying 70$ for a JTAG... Not sure if this'll work for everyone, but it did for me!
Hello,

Thanks!

i would. i'd give them a call. if the phones rooted, etc, i'd set it all back to factory default. if you've never rooted this phone then it'll be even easier. its only a matter of time till that port stops working.
I don't know I don't like sending my stuff for repairs :s.... The phone was never rooted I'm a newb so I just keep it like it is. I will call then abs ask about it. Thanks.

You could take it to AT&T service center, if its in warranty period (>30 days and < 1 year). Obviously its been less than a year since the phone was released.
So take it there.. they might replace it with another working piece. Just remember to backup all your data, just in case. And do a reset before you hand it over.
if your warranty is still valid, if you're still on stock(revert to stock and triangle away if you need to)
then my question to you is, what are you waiting for?
though my suggestion before you do it though is to backup your stuffs.
