So I bricked a SGH-M919  messing around an now it does not turn on. Hey I learned a lot.:highfive:
My Linux PC does not see it when I plug the phone in or windows. I tried Kies for the hell of it an it doesn't detect my phone either lol
The good thing is I have another one :good:
Last time I bricked a phone was my Sprint GS3 an i just took it in and they replaced it with a new GS3.
I am new to T mobile and I would like to know if anyone here knows how T Mobile would go about the whole my GS4 doesn't turn on now because of something I did? Or should I just say I lost the phone?
Anyways thanks in advanced.

Your best bet is to say you lost it, that way they will
not ask questions or even think about checking out
the phone or even looking at it.
It's a lot easier and faster to get a replacement that way.
Good luck!

So I assumes this is a hard brick correct? Since it does not turn on? Is there anything I can do with a hard bricked phone?

Well, tell me what steps you took that caused this brick? Can you get into download mode (holding down Vol Down + Home + Power)? When you plug your phone into a wall charger, does the screen light up with the battery logo?

I was messing around with this https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Install
Got it to work for a few mins an then it just froze on me and I had to pull the battery out to reset. After rebooting it just stayed on a black screen like if its not even on. I tried all that an nothing. Odin nothing. When i plug it in PC or charging outlet with original charger nothing happens either nor those it light up with charging battery icon.

First thing it says... "It is an experimental development snapshot that can potentially brick your device." Someone on xda already had a pretty good running Ubuntu rom released so you didn't have to mess around. From the sounds of it, seems you may have hard bricked it. Maybe I am being hopeful, but connect the phone to your computer and look for any hardware changes. Any sign of life? And to answer your other question, if it is indeed a hard brick, without a JTAG/jig you are screwed.

Send it in for repairs as the above poster said. It is better to drop some money on it than lieing to Tmo that you lost it... And I'm sure you would still have to pay the deductible. You are better off sending it in.

Yes, It was my nephew's s3. He was blindly flashed it, now He asked me to help him, and I am asking any one in here know how to get it power up and into download mode.
I think that flashing the wrong radio version could fry the whole thing dead permanently.
However, if you can get ADB to recognize the device you may be able to get it working. See if you can get adb to recognize the device at all, if you can there may be hope.

Sorry many that have flashed international have been hard bricked if they can't return on. Mskip has a toolkit but if it won't turn on then it's hard to flash though.

Does any screen come up? If it's hard bricked, just bring it to the store, and show them. They'll probably try a new battery, and if they can't boot it up, then they may replace it.
Worst case, they say they won't replace it cause you messed with it, and you're back where you started.

Cause the USB dongle will put you straight to download mode. From there you can flash the proper ROM.
Anyway, if you can't get in to download mode, can't boot up to anything, and especially if ADB can't find your phone, then you might have just gotten yourself a very expensive paperweight.

I did the same thing, quit wasting time, you need a Jtag service period, if you can't get into download mode, Odin and Adb IS NOT going to work. It will not see the device. Go into device manager, if you see this QHSUSB DLOAD, you are seriously bricked, only Jtag can help it. The usbjig will NOT work with this issue, I have tried.

That is an international 19300 s3 rom. Only flash roms made for the t mobile sgh-t999. There are many methods for download mode. Try pulling the battery and then hold volume down and home and power while putting battery back into phone. Then put back cover on and then plug into computer and see if Odin recognizes it even if it does not show the download mode screen. If that does not work you could buy a download mode jig. But, unfortunately, it is known that flashing international s3 roms on a US variant results in an unrecoverable brick due to the rom flashing in the wrong mount points. So consider doing a replacement.
I know the feeling, I hard bricked my last phone and had to get it replaced.

NO, NO, and NO, go to device manager, I bet there is a device that says QLOAD**, if it is there, BRICKED. You will not recover without a JTAG service. If you CAN NOT get to download mode, there is NO fix. You can continue to look for a solution that does not exist, or get it over with, either exchange it with T-Mobile (good luck), or bite the bullet with the problem YOU CREATED, and pay 60.00 of the jtag service.

PLEASE tell me what you did.....
I've got the same issue on my hands....
It sounds like he sent the phone off to a place that could recover the phone using a JTAG programmer.
Since December I've been running CM10 on my GS-III with little to no issues. I flash CM 10.1 mid January and even though it was an unstable nightly it was very stable.
Flashing the nightlies as they became available with no issues at all.
Then today my phone starts slowing down and froze up.
Keep in mind that I hadn't flashed a nightly in like a day or 2 do I had been using the past nightly as a daily driver.
When my phone decided to freeze I rebooted it and it booted just fine.
About 2 minutes in the screen goes black. Holding the power button it's unresponsive.
Now my phone is completely unresponsive to all button presses. I've tried the 3 button combos for recovery and download mode with no luck. I've even held the buttons for a full minute but nothing is working.
Is my phone dead or is there a possibility of resurrecting it?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
Are you positive the battery hasn't died. That would be the first thing I would check. Even if it showed it was charging doesn't mean the battery is good. I'm not trying to be insulting either by asking this. I'm a equipment tech at a large semiconductor company and you wouldn't believe the number of times the fix was as simple as turning a breaker back on when another tech wanted to replace something major. #1 rule of troubleshooting: Is there power. #2 rule: Double check rule #1. Sounds silly, but it is the easiest thing to overlook. Good luck and I hope it's as simple as a battery.

No you're not insulting by asking that. I use to record music and when something wasn't wasn't working that's the first thing we asked and re asked.
Unfortunately I do believe I checked that out. When I plug in a charger it doesn't even show me a battery charging logo.
I have noticed that when I pull out the battery and connect the charger the led turns red.
I'll see if i can't swap batteries with one of my friends and see if that helps.

Flash STOCK or different ROM (Don't forget kernel too) think the issue is with the Cyanogenmod, mine did something similar, when screen went dark it took literally 5-10 Power button presses to wake the phone up, sometimes it wouldn't respond, other soft keys only would light up, Make backup, Wipe, install, check everything, that what I would do

I don't know if you have to pay a deductible but Samsung is supposedly replacing galaxy s3 for free because there is a known defect which cause the motherboard to go bad. My friend's was a Verizon model and they just replaced it free.

My phone had strange battery behavior throughout the day yesterday. It discharged much quicker than usual. I charged it to 50%before bed and left it off the charger overnight.
This morning i woke up to a black screen, and a phone that won't charge. I tried a few different cords, outlets and other sources of power.
Anything i can try to fix this? I ordered a replacement, is there anything i can do to hide my s-off? I'm afraid I'm going to get charged for my replacement because I'm s-offed with a custom rom.

My phone had strange battery behavior throughout the day yesterday. It discharged much quicker than usual. I charged it to 50%before bed and left it off the charger overnight.

This sounds like a familiar problem with TWRP recoveries.... It sounds like you had an old version of CWM that may be broken with off mode charging.... Unfortunately your only chance may be to leave the phone on the charger for a day and see if it goes far enough tht you can get the phone to boot.

Maybe. I've definitely read about that.
So i I'm probably ok to return it? Should I do anything to it?

This happened to me with TWRP. Let it charge and hold the power button for a minute or two. If that doesn't work, try power + vol down. I was able to get mine to boot up eventually. Good luck!

Maybe. It depends how deep verizon looks into why the phone is behaving how it is.

If it can't boot, they can't look at all.

Again it depends how much effort they put in. When they send the phone to a factory for refurbishing all it needs is a charge and they will see Unlocked/S-OFF

And he'd already have a replacement by then. If it takes a charge, it will probably boot. But without it booting up, pretty sure they can't see anything.

All they would have to do is put a new battery in it and turn it on, and then see its s-off. Which is what they WILL do in order to resell it as a refurb.

If you go through the carrier they can back charge your bill for voiding your warranty (exception being if this is an accidental damage exchange, in which case he will be charged a deductible). If he went through HTC he wont have a replacement by then unless he puts a deposit down on an advanced replacement, which he most likely wont get back when they see S-OFF/Unlocked.

Thank you for understanding how the replacement process works.

If Verizon back charged for issues like this, there would be more than a dozen threads warning of it. Do a search. Many people have had phones unable to boot and have successfully gotten warranty replacements. Not a single one has yet to be back charged (or there would be a thread). If his phone boots he won't have to worry about it because there's no point in sending it in. If he sends it to HTC and they are able to get it to boot to see it is unlocked (S-off alone does not break warranty) they will notify him before any charges and send the phone back. At this point he will know the phone is able to boot up. Problem solved.
Edit: probably came off like a ****...not my intention at all. It's a community here and we're all just trying to help each other out.

So I'm at the mercy of the person that receives the phone?
Got a bad feeling I'm gonna get charged some ridiculous amount of money

So you weren't ever able to get it to boot by doing anything? There's been plenty of people on here who have gotten a replacement from Verizon because they've bricked their phone. I'm pretty positive you'll be fine. There would be threads on here already if Verizon was back charging.

Nope. Left it on the charger for 12+ hrs. Held the power button down for 5+ minutes, held power and vol buttons the same time length.

Sounds weird but people have mentioned trying the power button and or power + vol down under a bright light. Something to do with the light sensor. Worth a shot at least.
