The green light indicating a fully charged battery goes on for me at about ~90% battery charge. This is super annoying. Is this a known bug or am i doing something wrong? Any way to fix it? I tried calibrating the battery but no luck.
What ROM?

Green doesn't mean fully charge its by % of charge ie: 90%-98% green

I think the aosp roms show green at 90%, while stock doesn't do it until 100%

Running cm 7 for a few days now. Like it more than I thought I would.
One issue though, more of an annoyance I guess, when charging,
the green led comes on for a full charge, but the battery is not fully
charged yet. Is there a fix for this, or is it something I need to learn to live with?
I think you'll have to deal with it. CM7 runs the same way for me. Once unplugged (green led) it shows 90%. I've tried clearing batt stats many times to no avail.
I've heard this is a gingerbread bug and not just specific to cm, for a fix; if you can call it a fix, you can use a kernel with fastcharge enabled. Usually when I charge my phone using chads latest kernel it'll usually only take a half hour to charge completely to 100% so I never really notice this bug tbh.
Noticed it too, just the way it is in GB.

Great article, I've read it before and it makes total sense. However, if I watch my phone when it's charging, when the green light comes on, it is not fully charged. It comes on earlier than when it is actually charged, which is a different thing all together. Mostly just annoying as stated in my op and was just trying to find out if it was a common issue.

I haven't experienced this before. If you leave it plugged in while the green light is on does it continue to charge?
Also have you ever cleared battery stats?

When the green light comes on, it's at 85-90% charge if I look at it. I leave it charging after that and it continues to charge as normal, except the green light is on. Everything functions properly with the exception of the green light coming on too soon. I have cleared batt stats a couple of times and it makes no difference. Mostly just annoying.

Same thing for me too, turns green at like 90%. Didn't know it was a gingerbread thing.

Lately my phone will go through a massive drain until it hits around 55% then it will drain normally. I have not changed anything since this started. Any suggestions? I'm thinking I may need to calibrate my battery.

That sounds like a good idea for your situation.

Thanks for your input. I want to wait a few days before I do it. So it will give it time to see if that really is the problem. This only happened yesterday and today so maybe tomorrow will be better. Besides the only time I really have to do it is later this week.

How does one calibrate a battery? Is this the same thing as "conditioning?"

You charge your battery to 100%, wipe batterystats.bin, then run the battery down to 0%, then charge uninterrupted back up to 100%
Battery Calibration does it help ?
I have a similar situation and i followed the battery re-calibration method too but still didnt help.
Situation - The battery would charge till 88% but will show its fully charged. Recently put Vivokat so now its even more prominent. Every reboot drops the battery by steps, like i would reboot and the battery would go from 80 to 65 just like that, no gradual decline or anything. And even after a full charge (the green light indicator is on) still the battery would continue charging.
Tried - I tried resetting the batterystats.bin file as suggested, fully charged till 100% then removed batterystats.bin file then allowed to discharge all the way then charged continuously till 100%. No outcome
Anything else that can be done ?
I am getting this for my son for christmas and was just wondering how long I should charge it for the first time? I believe that you are supposed to run the battery down to 0 then charge fully, but for how long? I know that we have plenty going on on christmas day and I dont want his phone dying on him and him not being able to use it because it has to charge for 9 hours.
when the light turns green it's fully charged.
if you want to do a full charge then yeah.. wait for it to say 'low battery' or die completely, then charge it till it turns green.
easy way of killing the battery fast is leaving LTE on & the screen on while letting it play a video or a game.
The run down to 0 thing is not true with lithium ions. It comes about 60% charged. I say leave it alone until Christmas eve, put it on the charger over night, and you will be good.
OK, how is battery on the device?
Do NOT let the phone die to 0%. It's best to charge it as soon and as often as possible. Letting it die completely hurts more than it helps, although it is sometimes useful to do when you want to calibrate the it (once a month max).
Mine came at 40% and I just started using it right away. They say to let it charge fully and sit for a few extra hours, but I never do.

Actually, the discharging/charging thing when the battery's new is a good practice, even for Lithium-Ions. Not for the battery's sake, but so that the phone battery monitoring is as accurate as possible. Helps to give better figures.

you can always just wipe battery stats in clockwork recovery to recalibrate.

You know, that green light... which we don't have!
Yeah no indicator or what so ever. Just text on lock screen says charged means its full. If you charge it while phone is off lightly tap power button it will show big battery icon on the middle of the screen

And speaking of battery, does anyone know good calibrating procedures? Would it be the same as i would do for my Charge?
I've had this charger since july and the only light that stays on is the battery fully charged blue light. I no longer get the (red, pink) light when a discharged battery is put in to charge. I have to put the battery in my phone to check how much life is left. Anyone experiencing the same?
I would contact zerolemon.

I have a Galaxy S3 with the 4500mha Gorilla battery and when my phone battery % reaches a 100% the LED doesn't turn green right away. It does turn green after 30 to 40 minutes later. When my phone is off when it says 100% and the light isn't green, it doesn't show that its fully charged, and once it reaches a 100% when its off the light does turn green. My original Samsung battery works fine in this regard other than not lasting long enough. What can I do to fix this so I can keep using my extended battery.
Doubt theres much you can do. If original works as expected then its more likely an issue with the aftermarket battery reporting incorrectly.

Thats what im thinking too. battery life on the gorilla one is great, so it works as it should. I have been using like that for months and just felt like asking today, I thought maybe there was a way to reset battery info on the device so it becomes use to the extra capacity.
Sounds like you have an extended battery.
That's just how its going to work.
You may be. Able to root and calibrate the phone to the new battery capacity but I don't know since I use the stock battery.
The led turns green once the battery stops pulling electricity from the charger so the extra 1/2hr is when the battery is charging to its full 4500mah
