Sprint Galaxy Nexus Stuck On 1x Data - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

My 3G/Ev-Do data was working fine, but then I flashed a ROM and it stopped working. I flash a different ROM, still just 1x data. Use Odin to restore to factory state, nothing. Took it into Sprint, they claimed they thought they fixed it, but still nothing but 1x data. All my settings under the Android Settings menu are correct, all the settings under DATA menu should be correct. Short of a hardware failure I would have to think this is a software issue of some form. Would it be practical for just the 3G band portion of the radio to crap out? Does anyone have an suggestions for deeper settings that could be incorrect, and I should try modifying? Maybe some settings that are accessed through the VIA Ets tool?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! 1x data speeds make me want to shoot myself!

Did they reset your data profile when you went to the Sprint Store? I believe you can do this with *#*#72786#*#* and then enter your MSL code for your phone (can get that code from MSL reader in the market if you're rooted). It'll take a second to work then your phone will reboot and it will reactivate with Sprint. S'what I had to do to fix data issues on a few phones.

I was skeptical, but wow, Sprint should be paying you! You fixed in two seconds what one of their techs couldn't fix in 45 minutes. Thanks!
If anyone else stumbles upon this thread with the same issue, give what he suggested a shot!

Glad to hear it worked! That code is really just what I keep in my back pocket for really strange data issues that never seem to go away.

[Q] Can Someone Please Help, I am willing to donate

I have an Evo on Boost now for 2 months rooted with no problems at all. I change roms all the time, update kernels, put themes and never any problems. Yesterday there was a post to update the pri to version 1.40.
I did it and it said something about resetting the phone. It shut down and ever since then I have no 3g at all. The only way I can surf the net or go to the market place is through my wireless internet in my home. I can send/receive texts/mms/phone calls but no internet.
Also, it constantly come up with an error 67 data call failed.
Thanks guys in advance
You could try updating profile under settings and system update.. let me know if this worked.. my 3g wasnt working went to sprint and did the update and is back on..

this will reset ALL data profile information on your phone. it will then reboot and reload all said information by re-provisioning your phone.
if you do not know your msl, call sprint tech support and ask nicely for it. they will usually give it to you. if not, hang up and call back. or just tell them you have no data and want to re-provision your phone and they will walk you through what i just did.
as a side note, sometimes this error pops up, for no good reason and goes away after a while. my guess is in your situation this isn't the case. you had a hiccup that's easily fixed.

Thank you for trying to help I really do appreciate it, but I don't have a sprint account I am on Boost Mobile and have been for 2 months now without any issues but this one
Could be a PRL problem? I don't know anything about getting an EVO on Boost, but I assume part of the process was downloading a PRL for Boost to connect to their towers?
Go back to the guide you followed and redo the steps.

this will still work on your phone. contact boost to get your msl. or use CDMA workshop. there is a thread in the dev section on using CDMA workshop.

What exactly will work on my phone?? and what should I do in CDMA Workshop? I have the program and I do know my MSL, so if you can explain what I should do to get back my data connection that would be great!
I tried to update the PRI and wiped my data profile for boost mobile and now without wifi on, I get error 67 data call failed
By the way, Thank you for trying to help, you guys are the best
No offense, but it really should not be that difficult if you set this up before!! I assume that you in fact did not set your EVO up on Boost, but gave it to someone else to set up, correct?
Simply refer to the original guide, or steps you took yourself to set the phone up on Boost in the first place - or give it back to the person that did it and let them fix it.

Hey Nukedukem,
No offense taken, however you might want to check your panties to see if you're getting your period. I thought this was a forum for people to help other people "do it themselves". If I, and everyone else did what you suggested, you'd be outside sitting on the curb with nothing to do. So if you have nothing nice to suggest, then I suggest you pass over my post and go "not help" someone else. Thanks
To everyone else: yes the guy that first did my phone is no longer to be found so if you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them. Also, if a programmer can help I'm more than willing to donate.
Thanks again guys
The error 67 I think may be caused by the network rejecting your phones credentials, I had this same problem last night. The only way I could fix it was to restore a nandroid backup and then have it update my profile and PRL. You may be able to get away with just restoring the backup though, trying to update anything is most likely not a good idea since you are using a network other then what the software was written for.

Oh, and uh...try not to choke on my menorrhagia.
That method did work MONTHS ago but not now that SPRINT changed up their website your not allowed to do esn swaps anymore. I was able to do it months ago with my touch pro2 and i have an EVO now and just tried to reprogram my phone cause i had the msl code and input my boost number and msid like i did before with the touch pro2. It reseted but when i went to make a call it said account cannot be validated so had to get sprint service again. Soon as someone comes out with a VALID way of getting the EVO working on boost Im going back to them.

[Q] No reception, grey bars, on LiquidSmooth d2spr 3.1 Beta ROM

Unfortunately, the main thread for the actual ROM got locked so I couldn't really get, or figure out, an answer to my problem. Hopefully someone will know the answer as I'm still confused.
I'm running LiquidSmooth's d2spr 3.1 Beta ROM and this morning I noticed I had grey bars; no reception. I just got home and did a complete factory wipe and reset (3 times), followed by doing cache clearing and dalvik clearing as well (also 3 times for both). I do a fresh, clean install of the ROM and I still get no connectivity.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I'd really appreciate it.

Do you use Roam Control? If you do and you had your device set to anything but automatic when you shut down to flash, then that would be your problem. I had this very issue and it sounds identical to your description. If that is the problem, install RC and change back to automatic. It could also very well be Sprint. I've had issues with Sprint today, I have no data or text messaging for most of the day. Also, have you tried the KT747 4.2 kernel? I remember seeing several users on that LS thread having some issues that were mostly resolved by using this kernel.

Killa - I've not even heard of that program, so no, not using it. I even reverted my phone back to complete stock and unrooted, and still it has no data connectivity.
Evil - I tried that after reverting back to stock and still no data connection.
So, there we go: I even reverted my phone back to factory stock with a LEN in the tar file and still it has those grey bars but no data connectivity. I'm feeling a bit annoyed right now.
EDIT: After reverting back to stock and doing all the fancy stuff, I still had no bars. So I called Sprint and turns out that it's a nationwide outage where they're working on their towers and services so everyone is experiencing the problems.

You could always master reset and reprovision maybe you corrupted your NVdata its been happening frequently on the note 2. You just need to get your MSL, go to about phone status and write down your MIN(if its different from your phone#) incase you need it. Then open dialer and type ##786# >reset > enter MSL, let it do its business and automatically reboot. Start HFA then after its complete if your phone# and MIN are missing in about phone> > status then dialer ##72786# > edit > MSL and input your 10-digit phone # and MIN with no spaces or symbols eg. 9990006666

Mines been on and off since thanksgiving night when they suddenly decided to begin ripping apart the local towers for NV/LTE upgrades. I was in the middle of talking to my mom on the phone and *poof* towers got shut down for 2 days. Then after that they're on and off throughout the day from like 6am til 9pm and work fine all night and much faster on 3g, went from 1-1.5mbps to 1.5-2.8mbps(when they're on)

[Q] Cannot update prl after activating service with Straight Talk

Before I describe my issue, I'd like to state that I have searched high and low for answer to no avail. I am using a Sprint Galaxy Note II that has been upgraded to 4.3 stock. It was unrooted when my issue began, but I went ahead and rooted it to try and help my problem.
Two days ago I signed up for Straight Talk Bring your own phone. I entered the provided code which took me to the hands free activation. The activation proceeded successfully (my phone said success) until it forced a prl update. It says it fails (each time it tries the prl update) and immediately reboots the phone. Once booted the activation attempts again and repeats over and over unless I cancel before it gets to the prl update. Strangely enough if I try to make a call it says my phone has not yet been activated, and yet a few times after waiting I can make calls (verified they are coming from my new number), but no data functions. If I then try and complete the activation (the incomplete notification remains), I'm back to square one.
Straight Talk techs have assured me that my phone is active throughout their system and the sprint towers are having no issues. They say other Note II's have been successful. My phone is communicating with the towers as I get the LTE icon during activation.
As an experiment I activated a Samsung Galaxy 3 (never rooted) using the same method and it went through fine. It updated the prl and is now working like a champ. I am now at wits end with my Note. I have faith that all would function if I could get the prl to update and I haven't a clue how to get there from here. I have also been unsuccessful obtaining my MSL even after rooting. A little history on the phone is that it was active with Sprint and it was rooted at 4.1. I returned it to stock to take the 4.3 update.
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

If it's active in their system and if their systems are compatible with your phone then you should be able to update the profile and PRL with no issues. Make sure you're connected to WiFi. There isn't much else you can do short of cloning another phones information onto it but then you won't get LTE. Are you sure it's active on their system and not still attached to Sprint?

It is active in their system and unfortunately I don't have another phone to clone. My prl says 2010. It will not update over wifi or LTE. I've tried factory resets (before I rooted). I'm sure it's something with my phone. I just can't pinpoint it. The only progress I have made is that I did manage to extract my MSL. The reps at straight talk said my phone would use sprint towers to activate. Also I'm wondering it my note would use the same prl at the S3 I activated. Thanks so much for trying to help.
You can do *22804 and it should update the prl

Although I may be completely wrong here, I can only go off of experience saying I haven't had a problem updating the profile and PRL or getting service from a "flashed to" carrier, by replacing the original carriers settings. I've tried NUMEROUS Sprint and Boost Mobile PRLs on my phones (I've had a EVO 4G, S2, Nexus, EVO LTE, and Note 2 on Boost...yeah I change phones a lot) and never had an issue getting Boost Mobile service since they use Sprint's towers.
First off, is the Note 2 still active on Sprint? CALL Sprint and verify this. I know if I try to activate a Verizon iPhone 4 on Page Plus that it'll default to Verizon OTA programming and pull that data when I WANT it to pull PP's OTA data via *228 (or *22890). Same thing may be applied here (except with update profile instead of *228). Secondly, is the phone's MEID the same as what you registered on the account? Although I think the L900 is set to show the OEM MEID in settings, I've seen some US Cellular (and maybe Verizon) phones that have shown the OEM MEID in settings but when hooked up in diag mode through the computer showed the real MEID which was completely different. Just something else to consider to make sure you cover everything!

I tried and it said the number or code is invalid. I will try again when I have a stronger signal. Uploading screenshot of phone connection specs. They look abnormal, but I am not an expert. MMM I think I know what's going on here. You need to change your MDN and MIN to something other than 000000xxxx. I think that's forcing a HFA loop every time you boot the phone. Are you familiar with CDMA workshop or DFS CDMA tool? You'll need one of these to possibly fix your problem. Essentially, i think your phone needs to update the profile. This wouldn't be a big issue but I think HFA is strictly sprint and update profile won't work until you get rid of the HFA nag without disabling SprintDM. Check out the two programs I mentioned.

This might just work. I have CDMA workshop demo version but am unsure how to conduct the procedure. I really need to get it fixed because now hubby is in the hospital and has the s3. This is my only means of communicating with him when I'm not there. Wish I had the funds to just buy a note 2 that is unlocked but that is not an option right now.

If you're on a CDMA network, meaning your carrier didn't give you a SIM card, then having an unlocked phone does nothing for you. Straight talk might be CDMA and GSM though, never looked too much into it. Anyway, you're going to need to dial ##DIAG# in your dialer to bring up the "port" menu. Leave it on PDA and select Qualcomm USB settings or something along those lines. You should be at MTP. Switch it to DM+Modem+ADB. Plug your device into your computer. In device manager you should be able to see which port your computer assigned to it. If you have to, change the port number to be COM25 or under. Go into CDMA WS, connect to the port, send the password: 2012112120131219 and your SPC. Go to NAM1 and read. You should see your MDN and MIN are kind of zeroed out. Replace them with something other than zeros, like MDN: 7737777777 MIN: 3122222222. Reboot your phone. HFA nag should've gone away (if you're on 4.3). Now you should be able to update your profile WITHOUT having to go through Sprint's HFA, and after it grabs everything it needs, you should be on Straight Talk.

Tried the above but got lost on MIN. (is this the same as MSID?). Didn't find MIN anywhere. This is what I did try and it may have worked..so far, so good. I changed my number via the Straight Talk automated. I then tried the HFA which failed again, so I went in and maually programmed my username, MDN and MSID. I then tried mms and making calls and it worked. I then used root explorer to get rid of HFA by deleting the Sprint update apk. The prl 2010 remained and Sprint Zone says it is current. My only issue is that internet does not work though mms does. That is an issue I am now going to try and tackle. For the record, internet also does not work on the S3 that completed the HFA and prl update successfully. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix that I am open for suggestions. Thanks for your help on this. Please see screenshots..
Yes MIN is the same as MSID. You needed to program the numbers through a CDMA flashing program to get rid of the HFA nag. Now that you've programmed them through the phone...I'm not too sure how you're going to deal with the HFA. Yes, you disabled it, but you also disabled the ability to update the profile which is what you need to do for your data to work...
Success!
Success!! Here's what I did...Found an old Sprint prl file and copied it to sd card. Flashed Digiblur Rom which includes ability to write a prl file in settings. Used root explorer to go in and rename Sprint Update apk so that it would temporarily deactivate. Updated prl to the one on sd card through Digirom. Went back in and "reactivated" Sprint update apk. This activated the HFA immediately and promptly updated the profile and prl to the correct one for sprint (since straight talk BYOP uses those) and voila.. voice, mms and internet are now working perfectly. The issue seemed to be that HFA was changing MSL to 0000006503. Simply correcting it was not enough. I had to roll back the prl to make it update correctly. It updated it back to the 2010 that it was before and updated the profile as well. I like Digiblur Rom but decided to go with Paranoid Android rom instead. I'm loving it. May try a 4.4 next. I'm running Kit Kat on my Nexus Tab and I like it. Until this fiasco, I hadn't rooted my Note 2. Forgot how much fun roms can be. Used to play with them all the time on my HTC Evo. See screenshot of my success; unfortunately showing 3g in screenshot. LTE is spotty in my area so at times I'm reduced to 3g inside my home but I'm on wifi at home anyway.

Im happy this worked for you. I believe you have to have an older Android OS to make the trick work. My question is, how can we make this work with a 4.4.2 OS? Much thanks in advance.

My community rom (4.4.2 tw) has the ability to write prl via ##data# then view knot edit).
Sent from my SPH-L900 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Samsung Galaxy S3 (L710)
On both of my L710 (S3), the write PRL option was not showing. So ##data# didnt work for me. I had to install this app:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/32jc7i0w2fa2oxw/PRLWUnhide_S3_MA6.zip/
This made it so I was able to see that function.
Here are a bunch of PRL files. I believe the latest is 25018. If its not listed there, just do a search for the zip file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35576100
I was able to update the Profile and PRL after writing the TEST.prl file.
However, that didnt seem to solve my problem.
No 3g/4g, with HFA loop, with FreedomPOP as my provider (SPRINT MVNO).
I get a "unable to establish a data connection" error MIP:67 on one of the phones when trying to activate.
On the other phone, I get the notice to call customer care (SPRINT).
I believe this to be an ICCID issue, but I cannot confirm this:
https://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/143514
Pull up your dialer, punch in ##72786#. Let the phone go through its little process, then try to update prl and profile.
I am currently using a sprint note 2 on straight talk, had the same issue, and that's what I did to fix it.

Can't Make Calls/No Data

Hey everyone, I can't seem to recieve/send text messages and I cannot place calls (says EMERGENCY ONLY)
I am on the T-Mobile network and have done nothing to my phone that could've cause this. I still have signal though.
I tried:
-Flashing 10c and 10m modem
-Reboot
-Turn on Airplane mode and turn it back off
-Took out sim card, put it back in (while phone is off)
and nothing worked. I also tried put my sim card in my Galaxy S3 to see if I get data and can place calls, and everything on the Galaxy S3 works fine! But not on my G3
Here is a picture that shows my network status. I also still have my IMEI, it isn't lost. So what could've cause this? And what can I do? :crying:
I'm in Austin, TX if that matters.
Thank you!
Edit: Fixed my problem! Callled T-mobile and they removed an accidental block on my phone (weird...).

This crap happened to me yesterday too!! I think I ended up disabling mobile data, changing the Network Mode to another setting like WCDMA ONLY for a minute… once I put Network Mode back to the GSM/WCDMA//LTE only and turned mobile data back on it was fine. It made NO SENSE though!! How can you have service and full signal, but only be able to call 911!?!? Another BS T-Mobile glitch! I'm SERIOUSLY going back to Verizon this weekend I think. No wonder T-Mobile is cheaper and Verizon is more expensive. Why do I ALWAYS forget that YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!

I tried doing what you did, but it didn't work. I have no idea why this is happening. Im going to restore a nandroid from a month ago and see what will happen. Ill report back here if anything changes...

I also disabled most of my xposed modules too. Not sure if that did the trick or not. I did several things. I'll let u know if I can remember any other details to how I fixed it. Good luck bud.
Update: Restoring an early nandroid backup DID NOT fix my issue
I fixed my problem! I called T-mobile and they said someone filed an insurance claim on my account! Apparently it was a glitch in their system. I'm actually shocked that something like that could have happened. That's really sad. Oh well, my problem got fixed! Thanks for your help!

Straight talk LTE problems

Ive read a few posts about this APN issue. I tired over and over to do the sim card trick with my new pixel 2 xl from google on pie 9.0. It would not stick. Whats funny is when i factory reset the phone, the SIM activates just fine and i get LTE. As soon as i reboot the device I lose LTE. Nothing is changing in the APN settings from what i can see. The default loaded settings are correct, its missing the mmsc info but mms and lte work just fine. No idea what its deal is. I may just switch to an att sim card if this keeps happening. which sucks in my area. Ay suggestions?? I tried to boot twrp but when i fastbooted the img it would get past the screen pattern so i gave up. Also seems like once i updated to 9.0 im stuck with 9.0 roms? There isnt many of them so far....
wanted to add, USB tethering seems to work just fine, still have LTE. im afraid to restart my phone. I dont feel like factory resetting again. I wonder how long i can go without restarting my phone lol
I had a similiar issue with Verizon. When I would reboot I would lose LTE. In order to reboot without losing it I had to put phone in airplane mode, reboot, then turn off airplane mode and all was well. From what I read it is some type of provisioning bug. I don't think I've had this issue for a while now, it seems to be sporadic.

Maybe try Project Fi. I switched from Straight Talk and I have better service and a lower monthly bill.

i travel for work a lot so i use 20 to 60gb a month on my phone. So the tether is important and with Verizon straight talk i usually get amazing service and speeds. Im coming from a Moto X pure that had no hotspot service detection, very open bootloader, tons of roms. I should have done more research on the pixel 2 before i bought it. I like everything else about it but the strange OS issues and the lack of support is a bummer. I figured google would have just left this phone very open and easy to tweak.
Yes and with that kind of data usage Project Fi
would not be a good fit for you.
