i'm on KXP AOKP JB ROM, ever since i formatted my sd card.
I can't seem to back up the ROM through recovery
it keeps on saying
..generating md5 sum...
...error while generating md5 sum...
a help maybe??
thanks
If you try to give it a name with a space in it, it will give you that error. Is it possible that that's the issue?
Nuh, can't be.. I did nothing with the name, it is about md5 sum in which I really have no idea, can someone help?

Let me ask all the ones who has got this error. Did you try to restore data that you saved from gingerbread to ics? If so that maybe where the problem is coming. I did some playing around with this and got the same results over 6 times. When ever i was running a gingerbread ROM i would backup with nadriod and titanium backup. Than i would flash a ics ROM and restore data bam md5 mismatch. Go back to gingerbread the back up would not restore for reason unknown same error. But if i backup from a ics ROM go back to gingerbread and restore back to ics ROM no error would happen. Also if i would restore data that i backed up on ics from titanium onto gingerbread everything would force close. So in short if you nadroid on gingerbread don't expect that data to restore on ics. So if your running ics and need to go back to gingerbread you can restore your apps from titanium but restoring data will cause problems. But nadroid is not an option if your needing to restore on ics from gingerbread. So let me know if your having the problem. Right now there is no known confirm fix. It could be that data gingerbread just don't work on ics because its still currently a leaked ROM. Lets work together to find a solution for this annoying problem.

This is the OP's second thread same topic. There really is no need to search on this one.

Its not that no one know how to search. I want us to identify this problem and find away around it.

I made this second post to try and isolate what's really causing this md5 mismatch problem. I spent half the weekend experimanting with what could be causing this. So far it has nothing to do with the name changing of the backup or spaces being in the name of the back up. So please no more smart comments lets try and solve this problem the developers here have enough work on there hands as it is. So lets us take one for the team and solve this issue .

What causing it is the file containing the MD5 is missing or you've deleted/changed nandroid attached to that MD5. Simple fix? Get a new check file which can easily be done through terminal.
There's no magic or 'ICS f'd up my previously created nandroid' going on here. Why? Because flashing a rom doesn't effect the sdcard - never has.
I'll add that the recovery for one of them might not be reading the MD5 correctly but that has nothing to do with ICS or GB. Not even the kernel. It has to do with the recoveries. In which case you need to let the dev know.

@pustinjak Maybe the thread title should be something like "Stock Nandroid Backups" or the like. Since "nandroid help" does not make me think that people can find this backups in the thread. Anyways its nice that you started this thread.

I'm shooting in the dark but my guess is that cwm knows how to handle ext4 in theory you should be able to restore to ext4. I only have sd-card 2nd partition in ext4, not internal storage or anything else.

It kind of defeats the purpose of making a backup if I have to reflash the phone
I noticed the second time I tried doing it CWM reported I only had 585mb of space left which isn't true. Could the fact that I have a second partition for Link2SD to use screw things up?
I've learned that restoring apps using TB may cause problems.
Is there another way to get the saved files for apps. Like copying it to have a backup. Where can i find such files?
Thanks in advance.

Restoring apps causes problems mostly if you try to install JB-only apps onto ICS or ICS-only apps onto GB.
Certain Play Store apps have multiple versions, for example one for ICS only, one for GB only etc.
Problems occur if the apps installation fails, one possibility is above, but there are others aswell.

Thanks for the answer.
So, is it safer to download the app from play store, to get the right version as you said, and then restore the data using TB
Or will it change the apps version.
I often change rom so app data is always deleted.

Download the app from Google Play and restore the data only. It works fine. I have used this method many times when switching from CM10.1 to stock ROM and vice versa.

What my friend on the post above me said it's always the safer, but something I always use and never failed (perfect recover of everything, apk and data) is Mybackup ROOT, I got horrified when tried to use titanium once, and instantly came back to mybackup, for me it's the best, you do backup everything.

Thanks but it doesn't backup the data. I mean, only the apk's so the progress in games are wiped out.
Still. Thanks.

This method is OK since you restore the data without touching the main app, so it doesn't matter which ROM you install the app on.

Alright so I did a Nandroid backup and it says no sd-ext found skipping or something like that. I heard it doesn't matter but it's really bothering me!!! Help!
when you was doing your nandroid back up it always says that because we dont partically use external sd to install apps so the nandroid just looks in your external for installed apps and if you dont which most of us dont have it skips the process totally normal bro
Well I accidentally deleted some stuff and now it's saying that and I'm sure it didn't before. I'd there anyway to fix it?

I recommend wiping the sd card after backing up important files. After you wipe format the sd card and you should be able to use from there. I'm pretty sure some files are just corrupted.
