@pustinjak Maybe the thread title should be something like "Stock Nandroid Backups" or the like. Since "nandroid help" does not make me think that people can find this backups in the thread. Anyways its nice that you started this thread.

I'm shooting in the dark but my guess is that cwm knows how to handle ext4 in theory you should be able to restore to ext4. I only have sd-card 2nd partition in ext4, not internal storage or anything else.

now I got it: you want to try to "restore" a nandroid backup taken on someone else's phone...? I'm not sure if this will work as I know that CWM seems to be very sensitive regarding the backup files - but I'm not absolutely sure about that (and sorry: no sense ROM here to try with)

I used to restore backups from my phone to my girlfriends phone all the time, it works fine but one thing I'd recommend is that if anyone is willing to do this make sure the backup is from a freshly wiped phone that hasn't been signed into a Google account or has any phone numbers saved etc etc as a nandroid contains a full snapshot of the phone including all personal details.

Have u changed the backups name? Then u get a md5 mismatch. Search the web to redo the md5 code on your backups and all is good.

yep, IIRC the backup has to reside in /clockworkmod/backups/<the-date-and-computer-time-of-the-backup> and the filenames must remain the same. Not sure about it but couldn't it also be a problem to use different versions of CWM?
i always rename my backups! by the way,he is talking about the 2 nandroids myself and lesicnik sent him from our phones respectively!!

I've read somewhere about restoring problems and someone mentioned that renaming could end up in CWM not finding the backups anymore (thus this has nothing to do with the md5 sum of course). It's probably depending on the version...?
Yep i know that you two made those backups - therefore my suggestion with the cwm versions...
Perhaps the files were corrupted during download (just to make sure: did you pack them? That might give issues, too, due to different packing/compression modes).
Swyped from my HTC Wildfire (Buzz)
I've recalculated md5 and the phone started restoring. But im the middle of the restore process the phone restarts in cwm. Could the internal memory have a fault or something?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
for the nand i sent you, event may be correct regarding version issues!! i use cwm 5.0.2.0 and you need a ext partition. you already said you dont use mtds so your internal memory should be ok providing you are of course making full wipes prior to flashing?
R.V.3 (MokeeOs)
didn't worked with 5.0.2.0 either. tomorow i will sell it for a low price just to escape from this stress. thank you all for the help you gave.

If you try to give it a name with a space in it, it will give you that error. Is it possible that that's the issue?

It kind of defeats the purpose of making a backup if I have to reflash the phone
I noticed the second time I tried doing it CWM reported I only had 585mb of space left which isn't true. Could the fact that I have a second partition for Link2SD to use screw things up?
Did a backup with CWM but it will not work. MD5 mismatch and no clue what to do. Backup to internal does not work. Everytime I wipe data and cashe it creates a "0" folder and moves everything back. Please help....
Where can I find the original rom so I can start all over again?

Original as you mean stock? CWM isn't that good it's outdated to me. Go to the play store and download "Goo Manager" open it click your menu button and click "OpenRecovery Script" then follow the basic instructions. Then try your backup and report back here and post the results please.

That wont work unfortunately, TWRP and CWM store backups in different formats
@OP, you can go to Advanced > Disable MD5 checking (or disable verification) something like that and try to flash it. However I would recommend making a backup of your current setup because your old backup might just be corrupted

Don't do that! Did the same mistake! Let me guess, you tried flashing a 10.1 ROM? Well here is how to fix it. First, flash any ROM you have on your SD card. (Not the 10.1 again) 2. Use a file manager. I prefer ES File explorer. 3. Move all files except "android" up to your folder where 0 is. That includes your clockwork mod folder in side 0. By doing this, you can restore it. Hope that helps!

Sent From My Galaxy S3 Running Stock... WickedCyan10PeopleFreeGS3 ROM!
I just rooted my phone and as I'm typing this I have the titanium backup running and well..backing up everything on my phone. Now I want to double check with the EFS file. I know that it is really important, especially before I start to flash a custom rom on my phone. So what I'm getting at is where in the world do I find this file and how do I back it up? Like I said all I'm wanting to do is double check this to make sure that it is done properly...any help is greatly appreciated!
Please make sure you are using the search feature. I found the below link within a few seconds.

Ok so I have downloaded Andromizer and there are quite a few options on there backing up this and backing up that... from this thread that I created its about backing up the EFS folder, that is my main concern. I ran the backup, and it completed within seconds. What I'm getting at is...is that it? Is this all I need to backup or do I need to backup any other information pertinent to being "stock". I just want to make sure everything is perfect before I start flashing a custom rom or messing with kernels. Like I said before, any information is greatly appreciated. I'm open to learning about all of this.

This may seem a little redundant but did the Andromizer app get everything you mentioned before? You had mentioned something about the IMSI and a few other things...did that EFS backup include everything you mentioned? So the only thing I had to do to backup was this:
To make a backup:
Open Software Download from the Start Clients menu.
Click on the Backup tab.
Make sure your phone is listed under port.
Select the location you want to save your backup.
Click Start and wait for it to finish.
You should now have a QCN file of your NV.
Save the file in a safe place.

I remember my noob days. Believe it or not, it is really this easy on most Samsung devices. Don't nuke it out. As long as you followed the thread thoroughly and did what was instructed you are fine.
I encourage you to do a lot of reading and do not let yourself get panicked over things. Remember...as long as your phone can turn on, you are safe. As long as you read thoroughly and follow instructions, you will be fine. And regardless how confident you are in your skills after some time, remember to follow instructions anyway. Overconfidence will cause you more problems than being a noob who is willing to read.
