htc external speaker issue - HTC One X

i tried searching the forum but couldnt find any info on it.
the external speaker on the htc one x stopped working but if you tap the back casing the speaker works for few hours and then the problem comes back again. i tried flashing a new rom it works for a bit and and then had the same problem again. is there any suggestions what could be done to solve this issue?

Maybe you got a defected HOX ??

found the fix. it was the contacts that connects the speaker module to the board, may be the contacts( the same type of pins that caused the wifi issue) on my HOX got pressed too much i guess, probably going to solder the pins when i get home as of now have it taped up for the testing

i had the same problem when i openned my HOX, after closing, back button led and speaker didn't work, i disassembled and reassembled again and it works, so watch out if you'll open it!

I see ... Hope you get it fixed then

soldered all four connection, did a test didnt work so i played with the speaker connection a bit and it worked. i guess the speaker had a loose connection or something as of now placed a bit of masking tape and closed the housing. working so far now. i guess the problem is with the chip where speaker is plugged

Had the exact same problem, although it degraded to the point that tapping the grille only brought sound back for a second in the end.
Got HTC to repair it along with the wifi.

Problem: Speakerphone always on... always.

I had a strange problem on Sunday where my phone was constantly sending the * non-stop. I tried powercycling and yanking the battery, but it was relentless. The key was still 'clickable', so I decided to disassemble the device and clean the key sensor. (I had disassembled it a while back to replace the screen, so I wasn't intimidated by this procedure.) I used one of the guides on youtube to take it apart, I gently cleaned the sensor with a qtip and reassembled the phone. And it worked! No more stuck keys
Now though, I have a new problem. All conversation comes out of the speakerphone. I can turn the speakerphone on and then off, warm boot, cold boot, yank the battery, adjust the volume properties, I even reflashed the newest Ricky 6.1 rom. Still, I get all audio out of the speakerphone. As far as I can tell it also is coming from the ear speaker, but the speakerphone is loud enough that I could just as well be hearing it instead.
The question is, is this a short? I'd have a hard time seeing it to be a s/w issue after I reflashed. Does anyone have any ideas what I'm facing?
bump.
I realize I'm posting a probable hardware issue to a primarily software forum. I wasn't sure where else to go. If anyone can suggest a different forum that I could post the question at, that would be equally appreciated.

i have same problem please help
take it to service - HW fault .. or if you wish to open device I can tell you what the test points are
I agree with JSP_M
You didn't have this problem before you opened your device. You have the problem now, since you have opened your device, so that obviously means that something went wrong when you opened it.
The audio output is one line. It diverts the signal to the earpiece or the speaker. These diversions are controlled by your registry, since you have reflashed your phone, the registry will have been cleared, so that is not the problem. Plus, you claimed you hear sound in the earpiece at the same time you hear sound in the speaker, so open up your device.
Trace out the lines from the speaker and the lines from the earpiece, if you feel froggy. Then, see if anywhere that shouldn't be touching is, or if something looks brown or discolored. This indicates a short circuit. I can safely tell you though, that something is touching somewhere that is not supposed to be. Listen to JSP_M, he sounds like he has some other points of interest for you test, once you get you phone opened up.
Hope this helps. Later.

Try to call the customer service line from Tmobile and tell them your phone is defective and they should send you a new one.
The loud speaker is harnessed in the back housing of the phone and the ear speaker is harnessed in the faceplate above the LCD. The pads that they connect to aren't even close to each other and are on opposite sides of the mobo. I have repaired a lot of Dash phones and I have yet to come accross this problem. Try cleaning the pads they connect to and make sure the contacts are making a good connection. Or, if you can live without speaker phone then just remove the speaker from the housing all together.
I'm having the same problem on my Wing (Herald). But I never took it apart. In addition Activesync will no longer work. It never connects but my computer makes the 'ding' and the PPC screen lights up when I connect it so it can't be a bad usb port. It seems like a software problem to me, since it recognizes being plugged in, just not the connection.
What are the registry keys that route the audio?
how can i edit register keys
and i get new ear speaker still same problem
thank you
Send it to customer service
I once had that problem.... I sent it to customer service, and i got a new phone in 3 days. You have to pay for shipping though.

Liek a Noob (Need help!)

Earlier I took apart my htc one x to fix the wifi antenna issue, however after re attaching the the device to the casing I can't get any kind of audio or the lights at the bottom of the phone to come on, I have very small amount of battery power but I assume that isn't the issue and it's more of my ****ing up.
Advice?
You probably messed something up in the process. Take it apart again and reassemble.
Unfortunately this hasn't fixed it, this may be one for the insurance company

[Q] Nexus 7 (2013) - Top Speaker Stopped Working

Hello Folks,
I've been searching the forum and haven't found anything specific to this. My Nexus 7 Wi-Fi 32GB (2013) had this problem for one day before, then fixed itself for the past couple months. Randomly during a youtube video the other day the top speaker stopped working. It has since stayed mute. The bottom speaker works fine.
I've tried rebooting the bootloader, restarting the device, checking for updates, plugging in headphones and taking them out, etc.
My device is completely stock, running update JSS15R.
Any suggestions, please?
Thanks.
Return it for a new one if you can. If you can't sounds like you need to find an Asus repair center.

Well, damn. There were no warning signs, no buzzing or distortion. Would a factory reset work perhaps?

You could try but this sounds like a hardware issue not software.

Fyi OP, I have the same issue with my nexus 7 2nd gen. I first noticed the problem when I received a new case, put it in, and fired up youtube. I suspect it has something to do with the magnet to trigger the screen to come on/off.

Could someone that is a little more knowledgeable chime in and tell me if it is even possible for this to cause the malfunction with the speaker?
I have the same problem.
My 32 GB Nexus 7 2013 does this too randomly. Except I can at times make the top speaker work, and not others. And the top speaker shuts off at random whatever I'm doing doesn't matter. Should I get a replacement?
I've noticed that if I squeeze the tablet even slightly to the left of the headphone jack, the top speaker will turn off. It comes back on if I rotate the tablet a couple of times. I noticed it when I had gotten a new cover, thinking somehow the cover was causing it.
Not exactly the case as the cover just happened to clip on to the left of the jack, causing the slight pressure. Gonna see what Asus has to say.

Hi,
I've the same problem with my Nexus 7 2013 32GB WIFI. Did you send your device to Asus? If yes, what did they say? My device is already out of warranty and so I've to repair it by myself. Which parts has to be replaced?

The connector on the motherboard does not grip that of the speaker tightly. It doesn't take much for connection to get loose. Which of course shuts off the speaker. Open the back cover and reseat the speaker wire. The speaker itself rarely goes bad. And if the bottom one and the headphone jack still work, you know that the audio circuit still functions.

No Vibration after drop

Howdy lads and gals.
I have a lovely issue here, I dropped my phone from my pocket and it slammed screen first right onto the rock solid kitchen floor Of course it made an unholy slap but the screen was not scratched so I figured Phew! all is good
But then after a minute or so the phone suddenly shut down and it wouldn't boot back on for over an hour or recharge either.
It does charge now and also boots up but the vibration and sound is gone and even the Home button randomly works and doesn't work...
I take it I have a hardware related issue now? Is there any way that I could try and fix this myself?
Or will I have to walk into a phone shop and hopefully they will get it repaired?
Sounds like it got damaged from the drop, too bad and good luck.
Thanks I'm pretty screwed now.. oh well. I will get it sorted for repair if possible
I just bought the LG G3 phone now as my backup phone :/ gosh I'll miss my Asus phone if I can't get it fixed :/

If you would like to send to ASUS for out-of-warranty repair please feel free to contact me directly at [email protected]. Please include case # N160232147 in the subject line.

This has happened to me lots. Just take the back off the phone, there are a whole bunch of screws holding it on. Pry that up, vibrate motor is bottom right corner. Make sure it is plugged in correctly. Then that should be it.
The speaker also just slides in and uses two contacts. Make sure it is completely seated in its little spot. While you're in there, check the main ribbon connectors. There's one right above the battery that likes to get dislodged after a drop.
Let me know if you need any ****tily labeled pictures.
@Asus_USA: Thank you very much, I will get contact with you if I'm unable to fix it myself
@JHT: Thank you, I will actually give this a go later tonight and see if that is indeed the issue. Hopefully it's as simple as that ^^

Does your phone detect flash drives?
Not sure what the issue might be, but there are replacement charging docks for sale on Aliexpress and eBay for $5: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk...ck.TRS0&_nkw=zenfone+2+charging+dock&_sacat=0 . Although if you order from China with free shipping it'll take like 2-3 weeks to get the item.

Wifi Bluetooth Antenna problem with connection

Hey guys,
I have a problem with my OP3. I dropped it and it had a big dent on the back. So I decided to open it an try to press the dent back into shape.
After reassembling my Wifi and bluetooth are broken. I can get connections but the range is realy bad, about 5m for Wifi till it disconnects and about 5cm for Bluetooth.
I opened it a second time to take a look if i missed a connector or something and i saw a clip (those small things that connect to the back of the phone) was broken so i ordered a sparepart (it was the headphonejack circuit board) and changed it but its still not working.
Does anyone know where the bluetooth and wifi antenna are positioned ?
Have i just broke my phone or can i change something to get it back to work ? Everything else is working fine.
Thanks in advanced
Dennis
Same problem here! After I replaced the screen I lost my WiFi and bluetooth connections as well. WiFi is working in a range within 2m.
Is changing the coax antenna cable a solution?
Many thanks in advance from me as wel
Ken
Glad I'm not the only one, so maybe we get more help when more people have the same problem.
I changed the backplate cause of the dent and because the antenna is built in there but didn't change anything.
I have ordered a coax cable and will replace it when it arrives, could be today. Will post afterwards if this helped, but I'm not realy confident in that because i haven't done anything with this cable while repairing.
Maybe someone knows more about this, i just don't get why it is working but has no range, makes no sense to me ...
I have opened my phone several times now, but nothing seems to work.
Do you have an update on the coax cable yet? I hope it works, or the one plus 5 has to hurry ?
Hey there, same for me, opened it up to 10 times now but nothing helped, coax cable was a failure too. I realy don't know what it could be.
I'm about to wait for the OP5 or get a used 3(T) depending on what the . Was thinking about getting one with cracked screen and change everything but not sure if i should try it.
I have the same problem now. Any updates?
Hi guys! Yesterday I changed the camera of my OnePlus 3 because it wasn't focusing anymore, after reassembling my phone I noticed it wasn't connecting to the wifi anymore, tried Bluetooth and it was the same problem... I had to be really close for it to connect
Did any of you had any luck solving this problem? Did changing the board in the bottom of the phone not solve it? It seems that's where the WiFi is... Or maybe changing the backplate
Thanks in advance!

Hi, guys. I have the same problem. Did anyone find a solution?
I replaced my rear camera and the loudspeaker, at reboot wifi was not working. I noticed that if I'm near the access point network is detected but with very poor signal strength. Thanks.
Hi, maybe I could have found a possible reason to our lack of wifi and bluetooth signal.
Please look at this thread and give me your opinion. Probably your mainboard shows the same problem.
