Wifi Bluetooth Antenna problem with connection - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hey guys,
I have a problem with my OP3. I dropped it and it had a big dent on the back. So I decided to open it an try to press the dent back into shape.
After reassembling my Wifi and bluetooth are broken. I can get connections but the range is realy bad, about 5m for Wifi till it disconnects and about 5cm for Bluetooth.
I opened it a second time to take a look if i missed a connector or something and i saw a clip (those small things that connect to the back of the phone) was broken so i ordered a sparepart (it was the headphonejack circuit board) and changed it but its still not working.
Does anyone know where the bluetooth and wifi antenna are positioned ?
Have i just broke my phone or can i change something to get it back to work ? Everything else is working fine.
Thanks in advanced
Dennis

Same problem here! After I replaced the screen I lost my WiFi and bluetooth connections as well. WiFi is working in a range within 2m.
Is changing the coax antenna cable a solution?
Many thanks in advance from me as wel
Ken

Glad I'm not the only one, so maybe we get more help when more people have the same problem.
I changed the backplate cause of the dent and because the antenna is built in there but didn't change anything.
I have ordered a coax cable and will replace it when it arrives, could be today. Will post afterwards if this helped, but I'm not realy confident in that because i haven't done anything with this cable while repairing.
Maybe someone knows more about this, i just don't get why it is working but has no range, makes no sense to me ...

I have opened my phone several times now, but nothing seems to work.
Do you have an update on the coax cable yet? I hope it works, or the one plus 5 has to hurry ?

Hey there, same for me, opened it up to 10 times now but nothing helped, coax cable was a failure too. I realy don't know what it could be.
I'm about to wait for the OP5 or get a used 3(T) depending on what the . Was thinking about getting one with cracked screen and change everything but not sure if i should try it.

I have the same problem now. Any updates?
Hi guys! Yesterday I changed the camera of my OnePlus 3 because it wasn't focusing anymore, after reassembling my phone I noticed it wasn't connecting to the wifi anymore, tried Bluetooth and it was the same problem... I had to be really close for it to connect
Did any of you had any luck solving this problem? Did changing the board in the bottom of the phone not solve it? It seems that's where the WiFi is... Or maybe changing the backplate
Thanks in advance!

i also have same problem , need fix

Anyone found a solution? I had the same problem when I replaced the fingerprint sensor + the battery
I've been without wifi for 4 months now... Any help is appreciated

Hi, guys. I have the same problem. Did anyone find a solution?
I replaced my rear camera and the loudspeaker, at reboot wifi was not working. I noticed that if I'm near the access point network is detected but with very poor signal strength. Thanks.

Hi, maybe I could have found a possible reason to our lack of wifi and bluetooth signal.
Please look at this thread and give me your opinion. Probably your mainboard shows the same problem.

Thanks, guys.

htc external speaker issue

i tried searching the forum but couldnt find any info on it.
the external speaker on the htc one x stopped working but if you tap the back casing the speaker works for few hours and then the problem comes back again. i tried flashing a new rom it works for a bit and and then had the same problem again. is there any suggestions what could be done to solve this issue?
Maybe you got a defected HOX ??

found the fix. it was the contacts that connects the speaker module to the board, may be the contacts( the same type of pins that caused the wifi issue) on my HOX got pressed too much i guess, probably going to solder the pins when i get home as of now have it taped up for the testing
i had the same problem when i openned my HOX, after closing, back button led and speaker didn't work, i disassembled and reassembled again and it works, so watch out if you'll open it!
I see ... Hope you get it fixed then
soldered all four connection, did a test didnt work so i played with the speaker connection a bit and it worked. i guess the speaker had a loose connection or something as of now placed a bit of masking tape and closed the housing. working so far now. i guess the problem is with the chip where speaker is plugged
Had the exact same problem, although it degraded to the point that tapping the grille only brought sound back for a second in the end.
Got HTC to repair it along with the wifi.

I don't have warranty Canada is nt covered for global warranty. For now I will just leave it like this. If sadly problem came back then I will take it to HTC.

Capacitive button not working

I dropped my HOX and cracked the digitizer a while ago and i still used my hox since to me it's not really a problem to have a broken glass. A couple of days ago capacitive buttons started to malfunction. Now they are not working anymore. I installed Button Savior to make the phone still usable, but now i am looking forward to solve the problem.
I am asking a simple question because i opened my hox so many times resolving GPS and WIFI malfunctions (my WIFI and GPS now are stronger than Galaxy Nexus', so that's a hardware problem), and played a lot with the connection to antenna pins. There is the remote chance that i actually broke something on the mainboard. The question is: replacing the digitizer+display would 100% solve the problem of capacitive buttons? Are the capacitive buttons totally integrated with screen digitizer?
Maybe it's just a silly question, but i want to be sure before buying a spare display+digitizer.

Bump!
I'm also having troubles with my capacitive buttons..
Opened my HOX to fix the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth issue with a couple solder point, closed it back, connection is now amazingly good, but:
-I have no lights on my capacitive buttons (except for the lights off they work alright).
-I have no sound on my loudspeaker (the one behind the device), tested it with a 1.5v battery (like this: youtube.com/watch?v=xIMHGkxw72o) and the speaker itself is fine, but, no sound.
I'm from Brazil, no HTC presence here, so, no authorized service where I can send it to be fixed.
I'm hoping you guys could give me some help on how to proceed to identify/ fix those issues!
Anything???

I went on a rage and FULLY disassembled the phone... putting all back together later on.
Everything is fine now!
For me, I GUESS this cable was disconnected: etradesupply.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/o/e/oem_htc_one_x_navigation_light_flex_cable_ribbon_4_.jpg
It's related to capacitive buttons light and loudspeaker (I don't know if anything else goes trough it)...unfortunately can't use this solution for nonworking buttons...
=/
sorry for bring alive this thread but im very interested on thi issue, im having the exact same problem after "fixing" wifi issue :/ does reaplcing the digitizer fixes this problem?

I've also just had an issue with non-working capacitive buttons, they light up but won't actually do anything, the phone hasn't been dropped and is usually left on the sideboard in the bedroom as I mostly use my newer HTC One instead, any reason why it would just suddenly just stop like that? was fine the day before whilst playing a game on it.

[Q] WiFi antenna broke - phone fell down

My HOX fell down a while ago and right after that my wifi stopped working.
I cant find a signal anymore ,the squeeze method doesn't work too.
Bluetooth and GPS are working fine its just a wifi issue.
I have tried flashing different ROMs and kernels but its still not working.
Is there a tutorial to fix that like bending the antenna or something? I think the impact damaged something inside.
Im thinking about getting a repair but it would cost 60€ (around 70$) not sure if its worth it.
Greetings

WiFi Signal Problem

Yesterday i replaced battery in amazon fire phone bought from amazon USA. after replacing and charging wifi signal disappeared. when placed fire phone on the modem it start picking up wifi signal. Can anyone tell me what i did wrong.. I am assured that i didnt touch any part of the cell phone inside.just smoothly removed battery and closed cover.Anyone give me suggestion...
Thanks in advance
You might have loosened the antenna connectors when replacing the battery. They mentioned that in the following link.
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Amazon+Fire+Phone+Teardown/27458
Helpful website. but I couldn't find where is the antenna which I loosened it...need disparate help..
Same Issue Please Help!
I replaced the battery, and just after, discovered the phone would only pick up 5GHz WiFi bands when it was extremely close to their sources.
I followed that link, opened up the phone, checked those connections(which turned out to be perfectly fine) and broke something else...a pin right above the WiFi connection and just below the big camera. The one that came off was in the middle.
What do these pins do, and how do I fix them? Also, what is wrong with my WiFi antenna?!?

bad wifi reception due to faulty hardware

Hello community,
due to a water incident I had to replace some hardware parts as microphone and finger print sensor.
The navigation proximity buttons do also not work, but I did not replace them.
After this replacement, the phone worked 3 months fine....then I replaced the main camera because it didnt focus anymore.
Since the camera replacement I have very bad wifi reception. When I am right next to the rooter, it is working but unstable. Thats why I suspect an antenna/hardware problem or another hardware issue. I did replace the black coax cable (also a used cable) next to the battery already, but this did not resolve the problem.
On the software side I did a complete reset. Actually twice because I had to unlock the bootloader and then did a reset. Also not resolving the problem.
- I am now wondering, weather there are more or different wifi antennas in the onplus 3 except the black coax cable.
- Does anyone have experience about the sensitivity of those coax cables? The replacement cable I have is also from a used phone and has some usage marks.
- Anyone another Idea, where the problem can be?
Thanks for any suggestions!

The problem can be the constant opening up of the phone and meddling with it.

I have the same problem with my oneplus 3, i too had to change my back camera because it didn't focus, which after many attempt didn't work and i ended up using a magnet right next to the camera.
I purchased a coax black cable but it didn't solve anything.
I also have switched between a numerous amount of rom and i can tell it's hardware.
So it's either the main board that suffered from the chirurgical operation we had to do or the back's antenna that are faulty, i don't think removing the camera would make any difference.
My wifi reception is really bad and i can't get a decent bandwidth even right next to the wifi...
I'll have to re-open it to change the amoled that just broked so i'll keep you updated.
Changing the back of the phone can make any difference?
Thanks!
