Would any of the devs be interested in donations to help bring this port to the T-mobile GS III? I would be happy to donate as I see this as an interesting port. I never had a phone with Sense and would at least like the opportunity to try it with our wonderful hardware. I know there are people that are entirely against sense and would say, just buy a phone with sense, but I like my GSIII's hardware as well. I like it's size, screen and camera and think its cool to be able to try other types of software on our phones. If any dev's are interested, I know they could use some help over at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1764005. Only one of the Devs have a GSIII so it is taking quite a while to remove all the bugs. Thanks in advance

I am also having trouble finding that thread, that is why I started this one. As I stated, if anyone is willing to help with this, I would like to donate. How difficult is it to port a rom from the international version of the S III to the T-mobile version?
I'd say doing pretty well.

Wrong section though.
Probably not too hard but there are big differences with the processors.

The same reason why people want AOKP or MiUi. People could buy a Nexus or iOS, but the whole point is about options. Simple as that.
i think this would be great its always a good thing if your phone is capable of flashing different software. personally i cant wait untill its ported and am willing to support and test it. for all the haters if you dont want sense dont flash sense but dont say this is a stupid idea and y not buy a sense phone.

Until one of our talented developers port the gs4 software to our gs3. Can't wait to see what the big deal is.
I love the 90s. Good times.
Well hardware wise its quite a big deal. Camera battery and display alone are enough for most people . throw in a hefty cpu and new version of gorilla glass ir port fitness accessories. Well it speaks for itself . Software wise though its not mind blowing past the s3...

I'm really looking forward to it. The stability of the touchwiz we already know, plus the features of 4.2 that we previously only had access to through aosp roms. Sounds really cool to me.

Theres a flashable in the "extras" section with all the S4 stuff (BUT DO NOT FLASH). You can use a root browser to place the apks in the right places.

If it can work on AOSP, that means its self-contained so most likely yes. Make a backup just in case though

Wow hahaa didn't even see that! But those aren't any GS4 apps, it's just the launcher which was not what I was looking for. I thought there was actual GS4 apps (Paper Artist, S4 Camera, etc.) that would work with an AOSP ROM.
Well then sorry to disappoint.

Phone is old now. Not obsolete, but very outdated at this point. A lot of people including myself upgrade every 2 years or so or when performance essentially doubles. Basically when an upgrade can not only be seen, but felt. People are moving on to bigger and better devices. To add, development for this phone is on its way to the grave. The phone has AOSP 4.2.2 and the last official update it's ever going to get, TW 4.1.2. Something that can't be said for most other phones from its time. Which is a surprise to me because as the crappiest version of the GS2 line, I didn't expect the t989 to get more dev support than its exynos powered siblings.
Angwho, I digress. What more do you want?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
I agree with most of what above poster said. This phone has fewer and fewer users every week. So development with reflect this.
As far as worst s2....nope, that would be my wife's bell s2 hd lte, i757m. Only one active jelly bean rom....no official jelly bean coming apparently, and its newer than the t989d. Lol

Yeah nothing mentioned about any variant besides the international S2. Not saying we won't get 4.2, but imo the realistic chances of it are virtually nonexistent.

I agree. It's difficult to imagine Samsung or the carriers investing any further for devices with a relatively limited user population. I just wanted to share what @hatememarkz might have been referring to...which could very well be legitimate (but perhaps also irrelevant?)

That just simply isn't me...as I prefer a stripped down and fast acting build which I have...

frankly, there is little chance of this phone getting 4.4 officially; its obvious that all phone mfgs want to try and force folks who want the latest and greatest OS, to buy whatever phone is new at the time, so they can further empty your pockets...

Really impressed with HTC lately the one has gotten many updates plus I read that HTC already announced kit kat. Thinking of getting the "one" refurbished for zero down on T-Mobile. Plus the fact that google Released The GPE also helps...Samsung use to be good about updating but now they just want to cram features down our throat than update what we already have. Will probably stick with note tablets as all those features are really useful on a tablet especially for multi tasking

Doubtful
I highly doubt 4.4 will come to note 2. Plus, in one year practically every one with a note 2 will be ready for the two year upgrade.
