Different rom experiences - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Just wondering what every one is running and their experiences good or bad.. Im looking to put a custom rom on my note 2 and am undecided on whats the best..... Im coming from evo series so samsung is new to me. Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium

Its been said a million times there is no best Rom. Every phone acts different my phone may run the same Rom as you but can have different experiences; based upon settings, tweaks, kernel, modem, etc... test out the ones you think you may like.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app

Like lostsoul said. Flash and see. Look through the different roms. Figure out whether you would like an aosp rom or touchwiz. Then find a couple of those and flash.

honestly i think he meant just basically try them all
because they all act different from battery to just speed and performance
me in particular i like jellybombed due to the color sheme
but i kinda changed my own files around in his red theme so im content :good:
just have to fish and see what you like first

Sorry, no best rom threads as what is best for you may not be best for others.

I wouldn't say that. Lots of ports been done from one phone to another where the hw was completely different. Of course the more closely related the easier, but still.
For example I have seen touchwiz ported to htc devices and vice versa.
Beauty of Android, the possibilities are endless!

ROM port? ( possible )

Could someone port a joy os ROM? I'm sure it would be a good addition to our ROM collection. If you don't know this is a iPhone rom.
Sent from my One V using xda app-developers app
We dont have a GB Ron, but you can take a lot of the apps from JOYos. They should work. I know the Launcher works, music app works, gallery, I don't know if Gallery works on ICS, but the other 2 do.

You know I do! But it's a lot of fun to pull out a $50 or $199 phone that appears to be running the system they paid $600 for and kicks their phone's ass. Plus the ability to add storage without buying a new phone. Plus the ability to run adfree. Plus...
I have a lot of fun with my iPhone owning friends! ^o^

Why not options are a good thing. In theory would it be possible to build joyous off of cm7? I am sure its possible to build an out dated ROM. I am only asking out of curiosity
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
ics drivers and gb drivers are quite different. the source just isnt there, and personally i think gb would be a step back in the wrong direction. we are graced with phones that can run ics+, lol lets use them that way and rejoice.
Did not even realize that was a GB rom, I sold my my4g before that rom came out. What about building a rom from source that is heavily themed? And yes I agree ICS/JB is definitely the direction we want to go. Although GB was and is still very good despite the ugly green theme(my personal opinion) ICS/jb is miles ahead of GB

A better question for op is to post what parts of the phone you use. And ask what roms would fit.
Blue tooth. Hdmi. Stylus. Note taking / picture editing (fast or not)
Etc...
I love the stock setup. Just not the bloat. I jumped on jedi. Love it tried cm10 which I love (from my old samsung infuse 4g) but it is missing too many pen features for me.
The best option honestly is to try them all. See whats missing that you cant live with out. You almost always give up something.

I'm with everybody. You really gotta test it out the Rom which suits you. If you like the stock looking Rom with awesome add on features and killer battery,I suggest to try the clean Rom for AT&T. You won't regret.

Yes. It does. HERE. For most of the Galaxy Note models here at XDA.
If this helped - please tell others. I've been doing the same for the Desire HD since that was released too.
I'm a little busy, so I can't get around the forums that much, plus I don't want to over spam.
My favorite Rom after trying Jedi X, Clean, Jelly Beer, and CM10 would be Jedi X if you want something as close to stock with a few added cool features. You don't lose any S Pen features and the toggles are perfect for me IMHO.

Clean rom fan here as well. Love it. Love the extra toggles and configuration of them. Teathering is enabled. Pre-rooted and deodexed. AT&T bloatware is removed, but the option to install them is there if you'd like to retain some of them.
I like clean rom you can use it as a base for more mods and make it your perfect rom, I used to love paranoid and cm10 on my note 1 but after using the note 2 cm10 and paranoid quite frankly blow balls compared to stock jellybean or a modified version like clean rom, jedi or even miui which has s pen integration
In the end its what you like so just be safe and try some out to see whats best for you
The best roms are Scotts clean roms. Ever thing works. Go to development section to find them there.

THIS! I love the CleanROM 4.0.5 so far. And the dev gave up sleeping and social life to develop multiple ROMs for the Note II in parallel. Give him some support!
Well now that iv flashed about 10 roms here is what I think. Clean ROM is nice and close to whole as your gonna get. What I'm using now and I'm really loving is Jelly bam! Yes I'm missing s note and a few other small things But what I'm able to do with this is worth it! Jelly ban is like the best of all ROMs together. I'm so in love with how I customized my note 2!

[Q] Homegrown Roms/Kernels

What developers actually on E4GT's and develop roms and kernels for them? I've been using cyanogenmod and aokp, but I'm pretty sure E4GT is not a main platform it's just nice of them to make the roms for us. Who actually owns a E4GT and genuinely invests and works on the roms and kernels? From what I'm gathering Agat and Rujelus22 do... I only started looking today so sorry if I don't know who's who.
I'm trying to find out who tweaks the stock kernels and roms because I want a little more liberty with my phone without too much instability. I really like how AOKP looks and it was fairly stable, but some guy at my work told me I'm probably better off with a developer that uses my phone.

I'm not sure what you mean by keyboard combo. The guy at work was saying there's asop based roms/kernels and touchwiz based roms/kernels... he was sayong TW based tends to be more stable since it's specific to the phone. If he's wrong I'm all ears.

To be honest. I have tried custom ROMs and I don't get the same experience as the stock. I know that sounds CrAzY! But I tried Omni, Sky, International, MIUI, AOKP and I am back on rooted stock with softmods. Can you suggest a better daily runner with S-Pen apps and that is stable?

Cool. I just cast my vote. Since many of us who run custom roms use tapatalk and not the browser I'm sure I'm not the only one who had no idea it was there.
Everybody should vote on this. I'm really curious what the final outcome would be.

No...I can't suggest what you will like best ...it's just not possible...
We all have our own tastes...
I for one use AOSP, and have no trouble with s-pen features to satisfy my needs..
My device has never responded to my liking running a bloated stock build....
That just simply isn't me...as I prefer a stripped down and fast acting build which I have...
Our devs have offered us more than a few quality substitutes for what our carriers force down our throats...
Many of which run just as well....IMHO
It's not a contest ...and folks can run what they like...as stable builds are abundant for us here...g

Rember the Kitkat update is for all phones because of the minimum ram usage. So I think a lot of phones will get the update maybe even older ones like galaxy s2 lol but ultimately it is up to phone companies.

frankly, there is little chance of this phone getting 4.4 officially; its obvious that all phone mfgs want to try and force folks who want the latest and greatest OS, to buy whatever phone is new at the time, so they can further empty your pockets...

Really impressed with HTC lately the one has gotten many updates plus I read that HTC already announced kit kat. Thinking of getting the "one" refurbished for zero down on T-Mobile. Plus the fact that google Released The GPE also helps...Samsung use to be good about updating but now they just want to cram features down our throat than update what we already have. Will probably stick with note tablets as all those features are really useful on a tablet especially for multi tasking

Doubtful
I highly doubt 4.4 will come to note 2. Plus, in one year practically every one with a note 2 will be ready for the two year upgrade.
