So i am running LiquidSmooth JB v2.0 ROM and i've been wanting to run a proper Franco Kernel. Here is why i say "proper."
After i do a wipe data/cache and dalvik, i'd flash the LiquidSmooth Rom. After flashing ROM i would flash the Franco.kernel r241-384GPU which would install successfully. Great! After booting up successfully, i would check in the "About phone" section to see if Franco.kernel was the version running but it says "unavailable" though it supposedly flashed without a problem and installed app updates. I then tried Franco.kernel r241-512GPU and same issue.
So i don't know if i am running the Kernel correctly and it's just telling me im not... or am i really not running a kernel?
Heres a screenshot.

That is a known issue with some ROMS, not a big deal you are running the correct kernel. You can verify by downloading cpuspy it lists your kernel also. I have the same situation and have been using Franco Kernel for a long time

Must be an issue with that ROM. Because mine shows.

Hey guys so I am pretty new to rooting and am trying to put the KT747 kernel with FrostyJB_4.1.1-v4. there is a link in the FrostyJB_4.1.1-v4 thread for the kernel but I am not sure which one to use. FrostyJB_4.1.1-v4 works for me but when trying to flash kt747 when rebooting I just get the Samsung galaxy sIII screen and it won't go past it. I can fix it but any help here?
Any ideas?
How did you fix it? You might want to redownload and check md5. You could have had a bad download.

well using this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871946 it says it does not work with l17 or greater? I tried flashing it but kttweaker just crashes and its restarted my phone a couple of times.
Should I just put frosty jelly bean m3 on and then do it or ?
Use frosty v4. Make sure tou have the ktoonz tw jb kernel. Flash rom go through the setup. Reboot to recovery flash ktoonz wipe cache/dalvik then fix permissions. Reboot download setcpu or any cpu tuner open it first change min/max then open ktweaker otherwise tou will get force close on ktweaker. After opening ktweaker uninstall the other. Should work for ya.

on this same matter, i am running Frosty JB v7 on my phone, and everytime i try flashing ktoons, my phone refuses to boot after install. It shows the initial "Samsung Galaxy s III" then screen goes dark, and instead of doing the animation and showing the samsung logo, it stays on a dark screen and i hear the sound, but no image ever comes up on the screen. After a few seconds the back and menu buttons light up and stay like that. nothing else happens.
I would really appreciate if anyone can help.
I flashed it using CWM recovery and cleared Cache and Dalvik after flashing, and then fixed permissions.
and i Used the TouchWiz kernel for JB found here:

Frosty is based on l6-l7. The older ktoonz kernels work. The new ones are based on the source for li8. There is a link in the frosty thread for one of the older kernels if you search for it

Thank you, with that older version now everything is going well so far. I had a few force closes on xda when trying to reply you, but clearing app data and cache and reinstalling did the trick. Onto long term experience now to see how everything goes o/

Hello. So I tried to install a Franco kernel and it didn´t go well. Now my GNex won´t boot-up. It have happaned before with franco kernel. Then I reinstalled ROM and had to wipe all data. So my question: is there any way to get my device to bootup without reseting. Fortunately I have made Titanium backup so everything isn´t lost.
What ROM and which Kernel version?

Its a AOKP rom and I don´t know the exact kernel because I downloaded it with the franco.kernel app. The app said it´s the latest and stable version. ( I have tried to install different kernels with Nexus Root Toolkit.)
Be aware that 4.2.2 kernels are not compatible with 4.2.1 or lower ROMs.
The latest franco APP 8.8.4 will install a 4.2.2 kernel.
If you did that, you have to re flash other compatible kernel .

there should be a boot.img inside the zip file for the rom you are on. pull that and flash it in fastboot.
I have the AT&T S3 running an 4.2.2 aosp custom rom "jellybam" and i really want to overclock but in the Performance Control it only lets me go to 1512MHz. Can some1 plz help me overclock it but still keep my rom.
Flash this kernel

It's kernel related. You have to find kernel that support higher overclock.

There is various kernels in the Original development thread that support overclock.
Make sure yo read the OP and figure out which is best for you and your phone.

Could be a few issues.
You could be on an old version of JellyBam that does not use the 3.4 kernel. You also could have downloaded the wrong kernel from the page linked. If you could give us your ROM version that would help.
Its 7.5.0
But do u have to flash a kernel with odin

Kernels are flashed in recovery, not Odin. The problem may be the recent display changes in KT's kernel. You may want to check his thread for an earlier build (pre 4/19) before the display commits were added.

correct. flash his 4/11 release.
and if you ever find yourself in a bootloop from flashing the wrong kernel, just flash the correct kernel in recovery. wipe cache/dalvik, fix permissions and reboot. good to go without having to restore or reset anything.
also, i'd stick with ROMs in this forum that are supported by the dev.
Closing this one...as OP has posted duplicate thread here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2246321
I am running jellybam 7.5.0, an aosp 4.2.2 rom and i want to overclock my s3 but whenever i go to peformence control it only lets me go to 1512MHz. Can someone find me a kernel that works with this rom cuz i really like the rom and want to keep it and i also really want to overclock. PLZ help me!!!!
Kernels that support overclocking on aosp 4.2.2 roms can be found in the Original Android Development section. You probably won't find much help on xda with jellybam.

You will need one of these two. Depending. In their change log it is not clear if the ROM is based on Linux 3.0 or Linux 3.4 kernel.
KT747:
Aosp 4.2.2 Linux 3.0:
http://www.mediafire.com/?tsoe7rxqhlabpcd
Aosp 4.2.2 Linux 3.4:
http://www.mediafire.com/?851bd2h5r571xi3
Try the 3.4 first if it doesn't boot, reboot in recovery and flash the 3.0.
OK so i downloaded it went into recovery flashed 1 then cleared chache then dalvik then i fixed permissions then when i rebooted it just went to a blank screen. it did this for both kernels l. plz tell me what I'm doing wrong.

You really need to find out what kernel this rom supports.
You could also flash the rom again and wipe bothe caches
If I were you I would switch to root box because jellybam is dead now. Try to find the root box nightly in the original development forum. Find the date 4/5 meaning 5th of april . with that I would flash the KT kernel with is also found in original development but download the Linux 3.4 version and flash that with the 4/05 nightly
jellybam is not supported in XDA, nor are duplicate postings of the same issues amongst multiple threads.
This thread is now closed.
Is the latest version of this leankernel available to flash with AOKP MR1 Milestone 1?? Also I am using an AT&T Galaxy S3.

I flashed the kernel, is it normal for after the samsung galaxy sIII screen for it to be black for 15 minutes? It seems like every kernel I flash doesn't work.

No its not normal.
The kernel is based on Linux 3.4
Milestone AOKP is based on Linux 3.0
Its not gonna work. Use Tasks AOKP and that kernel will work.

Guys I flashed the leankernel with CyanogenMod 10.1 nightly. It works very well. But are there any other kernels that support GPU overclocking?
