I flashed the kernel, is it normal for after the samsung galaxy sIII screen for it to be black for 15 minutes? It seems like every kernel I flash doesn't work.

No its not normal.
The kernel is based on Linux 3.4
Milestone AOKP is based on Linux 3.0
Its not gonna work. Use Tasks AOKP and that kernel will work.

Guys I flashed the leankernel with CyanogenMod 10.1 nightly. It works very well. But are there any other kernels that support GPU overclocking?

Slight issue with Franco Kernel !

So i am running LiquidSmooth JB v2.0 ROM and i've been wanting to run a proper Franco Kernel. Here is why i say "proper."
After i do a wipe data/cache and dalvik, i'd flash the LiquidSmooth Rom. After flashing ROM i would flash the Franco.kernel r241-384GPU which would install successfully. Great! After booting up successfully, i would check in the "About phone" section to see if Franco.kernel was the version running but it says "unavailable" though it supposedly flashed without a problem and installed app updates. I then tried Franco.kernel r241-512GPU and same issue.
So i don't know if i am running the Kernel correctly and it's just telling me im not... or am i really not running a kernel?
Heres a screenshot.

That is a known issue with some ROMS, not a big deal you are running the correct kernel. You can verify by downloading cpuspy it lists your kernel also. I have the same situation and have been using Franco Kernel for a long time

Must be an issue with that ROM. Because mine shows.

I believe it is an issue in ROMS that are using any cm10 tweaks in settings

T-mobile kernels?

Can I flash tmobile kernels without issue on this device? I noticed someone said it in the cm10 thread, but I'd rather be sure before I try this.

Same here...no go
I'm running this kernel with [CM10][Jellybro] D2Spr Nightly Kangs ROM and it's working great.

Are you guys running an AOSP ROM or TW. That could be the issue, if you're flashing a kernel that is made for a AOSP ROM on a TW ROM.

Lulz no those would not work. Those are for a completely different processor, the Exynos 4. The kernels for the us variants are for the Snapdragon S4.

I would start with whatever kernel is included in the ROM.
Personally, I never see much of a difference flashing kernels....so I usually stick with the one the rom supplies. Just my preference.

I think I should be the one to answer this. The kernel I baked into SpeedBean is the final ASDK 4.1.2. I forgot to add the WiFi modules so WiFi is borked on the build. In my opinion, ASDK and Cerux are both good kernels to use with SpeedBean. You have to decide on one or the other because like I said, WiFi doesn't work on SpeedBean if you don't flash another kernel.

[Q] Which kernel to choose

Hi, I know this is a bit of a noob question, but I want to flash a new kernel, and I don't know which kernels are safe to flash. I'm running CM 10.1 Wild for the Night with CWM 6.0.3.3 . I have a EL29 modem and the current kernel is something like 3.0.64-CM-q31f128d. As to why I want to flash a new kernel it's because I have an audio problem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2374061) and other people with the same problem, but the GT-I9100 version of the s2, have reported it fixed by flashing the dorimanx kernel. However, I can't flash that one because it's only for the GT-I9100 right? So my question is which kernel can I flash?
I believe the only current AOSP kernels are the standard CM one (and its derivatives) and the LightningZap kernel. The CM one is the standard one in most of the AOSP ROMS.

Yeah I believe the cyanogenmod one is what I currently have. Is it possible to flash the LightningZap kernel using Mobile Odin while keeping my current Cyanogenmod 10.1 setup? Thanks for the quick reply!
As long as there is a tar for it, yes. If they have a zip, you can flash from your current custom recovery. Either way nothing will change but kernel and recovery.

[Q] No 4.4 KitKat Kernels?

I can find 2 wokring kernels for 4.4 KitKat on the GNex.
No Trinity, No Faux, Franco has one that does not work.
are there any kernels besides the 2 that ive found?
ive looked every where with no luck.
There's a modified Franco r392 that works. Besides, in one of the Maguro CM11 threads, some alternate kernels are provided.

If you're first time flashing this, please do remember to let CM11 boot for the first time! After you're booted, reboot to recovery and flash this.

ROM: Unofficial CM11 26/11 (by PlayfulGod) with maguro.
I use Mpokang_kernel-v10_SuperRAM-4.4.zip with TouchControl (paid) patched from this Mpokang thread (#1839):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47878292&postcount=1839
Its the only Mpokang kernel which works with TouchControl (depreciated pgm2) for me.
