I currently am running team asylums latest cm10 build and was wondering if anyone knew if the kt747 kernal will work for this rom. Ive read a some on this but come to avail.

Ktoonsez KT747 will work on TW ICS. I'm using it on AOKP 4.2.1 and it is stellar. You can find it in the original android development section.
what's the different between TW and ICS because there is 2 kernels over there one for TW and one for ICS?
THANKS
TW is if your on stock and still use touchwiz. ICS is if you're rooted and on an AOSP based ROM such as CM or AOKP.
And if i'm stock ics rooted?

Then use the TW version. If you are to flash a new ROM, you'll need to re flash the kernel. Additionally, if you flash an AOSP ROM, be sure to flash the AOSP variant.

Do i have to have a rom to get a new kernel. Thats the first question the others will be after this one is answered. Thanks in Advance
It really depends if the kernel supports the phone and rom. Most kernels only work if the rom supports that kernel. Take cyanogenmod for example. If you were to flash cm that has stock 3.0 kernel, you can't use the 3.4 kernel or above unless the rom supports it. If you want a more recent kernel then you'd have to flash a rom that supports it.

You need to be rooted with custom recovery to flash a kernel. But, you can use the stock rooted rom. Does that answer?
Also, if you stick with stock rom, or any touchwiz rom, can only use touchwiz kernels. If you want aosp kernels, need to be on an aosp rom.

Any of these kernels would work for the t999l model? And is there a cam recovery anywhere for t999l?

No clue man, sorry. I didn't find this info in the posts, but if I had to go with the right answer it's just that the updater script needs to be edited.

I refer you to both my T999L threads where this is covered. T999 kernels should work but will require the right modules. Aosp/cm kernels should work no problem, but may also need other modules or files.
Not sure what youre loking for in a "cam recovery", but this is just a kernel index thread, seems to be outside the scope of this thread.

Thanks for this. I was looking for the MG2 kernel. This is a handy one stop shop.
Also I think there's a link to the tmo kernel in the S3Rx OP.
Doh. Nevermind, you got the stock kernel listed already. I must be blind.
just installed cm-10.1.3-d2tmo on my T999L last night - no issues noticed so far
will these work on 4.3.1 roms

You'll need to check the thread. If the link says updated to work for 4.2.2 usually most of them have been updated for 4.3.1 keep in mind there's no actual kernel for 4.3...so you'd be looking at strictly AOSP kernels.
This weekend I'll update the OP with supported version.

Guys I'm using the latest build of omnirom 4.4.1 the 26.12 build and I was just wondering is there a somewhat stable enough kernel that is compatible with it yet?

The cm 11 kernels should work fine. Pretty much any aosp kernel based on 4.4 will work.

Actually they have been some issues with some of the AOSP roms. example I tried to flash Devil on SlimKat a week back and it got stuck on a boot loop. As per the kernel dev it was due to each rom using different initramfs.

This ^^^^..
The devs are working the kernels pretty hard right now...and I'm sure that devil kernel will be 4.4 capable before long...
We are just well ahead of the curve on 4.4...and devs need time to catch up on all of the extra mods....g

This is true. Hopefully most aosp rom should be built to boot the same.
