Flash this kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28399829

It's kernel related. You have to find kernel that support higher overclock.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

There is various kernels in the Original development thread that support overclock.
Make sure yo read the OP and figure out which is best for you and your phone.

Could be a few issues.
You could be on an old version of JellyBam that does not use the 3.4 kernel. You also could have downloaded the wrong kernel from the page linked. If you could give us your ROM version that would help.

Its 7.5.0
But do u have to flash a kernel with odin

Kernels are flashed in recovery, not Odin. The problem may be the recent display changes in KT's kernel. You may want to check his thread for an earlier build (pre 4/19) before the display commits were added.

correct. flash his 4/11 release.
and if you ever find yourself in a bootloop from flashing the wrong kernel, just flash the correct kernel in recovery. wipe cache/dalvik, fix permissions and reboot. good to go without having to restore or reset anything.
also, i'd stick with ROMs in this forum that are supported by the dev.

[Q] Using frosty jellybean and ktoon

Hey guys so I am pretty new to rooting and am trying to put the KT747 kernel with FrostyJB_4.1.1-v4. there is a link in the FrostyJB_4.1.1-v4 thread for the kernel but I am not sure which one to use. FrostyJB_4.1.1-v4 works for me but when trying to flash kt747 when rebooting I just get the Samsung galaxy sIII screen and it won't go past it. I can fix it but any help here?
Any ideas?
How did you fix it? You might want to redownload and check md5. You could have had a bad download.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Try downloading the latest kernel from the Ktoonz thread. Just make sure its the Touchwiz Jellybean kernel. Shoud have "JB" and "TW" in the file name

well using this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871946 it says it does not work with l17 or greater? I tried flashing it but kttweaker just crashes and its restarted my phone a couple of times.
Should I just put frosty jelly bean m3 on and then do it or ?
Use frosty v4. Make sure tou have the ktoonz tw jb kernel. Flash rom go through the setup. Reboot to recovery flash ktoonz wipe cache/dalvik then fix permissions. Reboot download setcpu or any cpu tuner open it first change min/max then open ktweaker otherwise tou will get force close on ktweaker. After opening ktweaker uninstall the other. Should work for ya.

on this same matter, i am running Frosty JB v7 on my phone, and everytime i try flashing ktoons, my phone refuses to boot after install. It shows the initial "Samsung Galaxy s III" then screen goes dark, and instead of doing the animation and showing the samsung logo, it stays on a dark screen and i hear the sound, but no image ever comes up on the screen. After a few seconds the back and menu buttons light up and stay like that. nothing else happens.
I would really appreciate if anyone can help.
I flashed it using CWM recovery and cleared Cache and Dalvik after flashing, and then fixed permissions.
and i Used the TouchWiz kernel for JB found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871946
Frosty is based on l6-l7. The older ktoonz kernels work. The new ones are based on the source for li8. There is a link in the frosty thread for one of the older kernels if you search for it

Thank you, with that older version now everything is going well so far. I had a few force closes on xda when trying to reply you, but clearing app data and cache and reinstalling did the trick. Onto long term experience now to see how everything goes o/

Perseus kernel questions

Can Perseus kernel be flashed thru TRWP the same way as a custom ROM? Do I need to clear cache and Dalvik before I flash? Is the Perseus kernel carrier dependent? Is the latest version of Perseus compatible with CleanROM 3.0? I understand this is a question for a different thread or forum but I can't post on an development specific topics yet.

Yes. Don't have to but won't hurt, I always wipe dalvik and cache when I flash anything.. No. Yes.
Flashed with no issues. Thanks!

I apologize in advance if this has been answered elsewhere, but are kernels installed by each custom rom? For instance if I had installed the latest Perseus kernel with CleanRomX, and then decided to install back to the stock rom, would that overwrite the Perseus kernel?
I don't have the answer but just go to "About" in your phone settings and check to see what kernel version you are running after you flash

As long as that stock rom has the boot.img. If not, then the stock kernel can also be found in the Perseus op. Just check in your about phone to see what kernel you have

The kernel comes with an app called STweaks. Should be in your app drawer

It works great and remembers settings

I set it to 1800 and undervolted just slightly. Guess we will see how it goes lol

I just can't justify undervolting when I get stellar (58 hrs with 6 hrs screen time and then some) battery life without doing so. Some things are best left alone IMO!

I just installed 32.1 using TWRP.
1. Copy Perseus-alpha32.1-n7100-CWM.zip to internal storage using abd.
2. Power down and booted into Recovery. Vol+,Home,Power.
3. Did a Backup of everything except the cache to external SD. (took ~7 mins)
4. Wiped cache and Davalik-cache. (<1 min.)
5. Installed the Perseus-alpha32.1-n7100-CWM.zip (<10 sec)

[Q] OverClock

I am running jellybam 7.5.0, an aosp 4.2.2 rom and i want to overclock my s3 but whenever i go to peformence control it only lets me go to 1512MHz. Can someone find me a kernel that works with this rom cuz i really like the rom and want to keep it and i also really want to overclock. PLZ help me!!!!
Kernels that support overclocking on aosp 4.2.2 roms can be found in the Original Android Development section. You probably won't find much help on xda with jellybam.

You will need one of these two. Depending. In their change log it is not clear if the ROM is based on Linux 3.0 or Linux 3.4 kernel.
KT747:
Aosp 4.2.2 Linux 3.0:
http://www.mediafire.com/?tsoe7rxqhlabpcd
Aosp 4.2.2 Linux 3.4:
http://www.mediafire.com/?851bd2h5r571xi3
Try the 3.4 first if it doesn't boot, reboot in recovery and flash the 3.0.
OK so i downloaded it went into recovery flashed 1 then cleared chache then dalvik then i fixed permissions then when i rebooted it just went to a blank screen. it did this for both kernels l. plz tell me what I'm doing wrong.

You really need to find out what kernel this rom supports.
You could also flash the rom again and wipe bothe caches
If I were you I would switch to root box because jellybam is dead now. Try to find the root box nightly in the original development forum. Find the date 4/5 meaning 5th of april . with that I would flash the KT kernel with is also found in original development but download the Linux 3.4 version and flash that with the 4/05 nightly
jellybam is not supported in XDA, nor are duplicate postings of the same issues amongst multiple threads.

[Resolved]Can you use Clockworkmod recovery to flash a kernel instead of Odin?

Coming from a mytouch 4g, I'm not too up to speed on flashing my t989.
I have the stock tmobile jellybean rom on here, and I'm trying to flash the Team Infamous Kernel.
So since I have Clockworkmod Recovery on here, can I just flash the kernel .zip and call it a day?
Short answer yes.
Long answer make sure you're on the latest cwm. Also if it is an Odin package then no. But I'm sure its a flashable zip so yeah. Should be good.
Also make sure its for uvmc6 and not aosp/older firmwares.

Infamous s2 isn't a kernel, its an entire ROM. The arc kernel is the kernel included. Make sure to wipe data/factory reset and cache before you install the ROM. Now there may be an arc kernel exclusive. But I don't know

Sorry, should have mentioned that if you scroll down a bit they offer links for just the kernel and state it works with all TW JB roms as well as stock rom.

+1; twrp is the way to go. But if you want, you can use cwm. But honestly twrp is much better once you get used to it.

Clockwork touch is more polished IMO, since I've used both, I like the file browser on TWRP though, my only reason for sticking with CWM is because all my nandroids are in that format.

Flashing custom kernel

I have been trying, unsuccessfully to flash two different custom kernels. The first was the Matrix Kernel v1.42(no overclock) and the other was Sleshepicss Governor Kernel v1.7 MA7. I have been using Phiz custom recovery to flash and the flash process says completed successfully but after reboot the phone does nothing. Any suggestions??
Edit: I am running Dirty Unicorns 4.4.2 rom
Those won't work. Read kernels op. They are not for 4.4.2 heck I don't even think either of these work with aosp no matter the version. Use the latest plasma (omni rom build)
