How many R800x users have a unlocked bootloader? Post here... R800x only - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just curious how many R800x users have an unlocked BL? Please post below. As this is pertaining ot R800x CDMA specifically please lets keep it that way. Thanks.
With that I am unlocked BL for a year now with DoomKernel.

Unlocked and Unleashed 1yr strong!

Well, I think you know my answer

I believe I'll let my hammer-- err, kernel do the talking.

I'm unlocked, from the earliest used method for R800x

Ok, I get it ... There is more than 4 people in the world with R800x and unlocked bootloader.
I'm also unlocked by IMEI code from Sonys website (first method)

Unlocked by Alejandrissimo, sometime in April 2012. About one day after I received my Play after using my brother's VZW upgrade and not ever activate it. Yeah, he wasn't happy.

Unlocked R800X via alejandrissimo about 2 or 3 weeks ago, he had a $15 special going on so I manned up & did it!

I've got an unlocked r800x...done by alejandrissimo back in April.

Is it worth voiding the Warranty with Sony to unlock the BL? Verizon is probably out due to being rooted, but verizon sucks anyways lol.
I know with an unlocked BL we can.use different kernels/roms, and overclock with certain roms/kernels. But what else can we do with unlocked BLs?

As Verizon users, that's all you can do. If you were a GSM user (Non-Verizon), there's a bit more to it.
As GSM, let's say you're using AT&T, you love your Play, but you hate AT&T and you want to switch to let's say, SIMple Mobile. You could terminate your AT&T service and signup for SIMple Mobile, once you do that, just buy a SIM card from them, and you could install that on the PLAY you already own and you'll be using your play on the new service you subscribed to. That's not possible on Verizon phones because they don't use SIM cards.
When I'm on my own after college, I'm probably going to buy a GSM Android phone on eBay or something for cheap, then go for SIMple mobile and get one of their SIM cards, since it's only 40$ a month for a single user.

Oh really? What other CDMA networks are there? I'm wondering what I should do once I'm on my own after college, Verizon is ridiculously expensive, that's why. I can't believe my parent's are spending so much money on Verizon.
EDIT: I assume that all it takes is a new APN after subscribing? This will take place 4 years from now but I'd be nice to know how instead of forgetting. I've known about SIMple Mobile since they launched.
EDIT2: I just looked it up, wow... I must have been way too focused on GSM!! I might just stay on the Play until XDA development dies completely for it. I guess I'll be keeping my eye on Revol Wireless. My parents said they're done paying for my cell once I graduate from College. I don't know Verizon's plans, but I think my mom said that it $80 for her alone. Until I start raising a family down the road of time, I think $45/m is plenty. XD

Got mine unlocked in November as soon as I heard that zergRush for had been patched.
Been flashing my phone with new roms ever since like it's going outta style

Unlocked 2x. 1st time was about a mouth after getting it to try cm7. And then again after I overlocked my CPU too much I got a replacement. Turns out bestbuy doesn't care if you unlock your bootloader.

unlocked bootloader here, best 24 bucks I ever spent.

[Q] An carrier unlocking question prior to picking up an arc

Evening
I've spent a few hours searching now but i can't find anything specific to my question.
i've been offered an arc in trade for my desire z. I really like the look of it but the issue I have is that it is a carrier locked model on the three network.
I figure the sim unlocking of the device is simple enough in a local shop or something. However, i then stumbled on a few posts that state the carrier locked versions can't have their bootloader unlocked. is this true?
I guess i'm looking for a little confirmation prior to committing to a decision either way really.
thanks in advance

Total noob question, they ask for your imei number, can they do anything untoward with that info to cause havoc with one's account?

Can i switch to a Japanese carrier?

I see this as unlikely, but would i be able to bring my phone to japan and place it on one of their carriers? Ive read they use cdma, but how much does that matter when it comes to radios or bands? I just bought this phone and found out a week later i will be moving there in november. Not too happy about this since i paid retail for this beast.

It's called unlocking and basically unlocks your phone so it can use any carrier. Now it's illegal in the US but call up your provider ask and for the unlock code anyway. Say you have to go there in a couple of day and you need to use the phone. Normally they'll give it to you via email and the instructions are included in the email. All you would have to do after you unlock the phone is replace the sim card and you'll all good to go. Now don't go online and buy the unlock codes from websites because most of them are scams and even though some might work, its not worth giving them your credit card number and then be in deep yogurt. Hoped this helped

You can probably get kddi mobile in japan to add your esn for you. I'm almost positive they use the same 3g frequency as sprint, however I doubt you'll be able to get lte.

If kddi won't add the esn, you could get a cheap phone thru them and flash your note with cdma ws or find another mvno that will add it. Now that sprint and softbank are looking at a partnership I think softbanks carrier's will accept sprint phones for Americans that come over without too much hassle. Japan has a large cdma network (largest outside of US) and use the same frequencys and sprint as vzw so 3g should be no problem and neither should finding someone to add your esn over there. They're pretty good about letting Americans use their own devices when they come over.

[Q] Blacklisted?

Well it seems that CL may have finally gotten the best of me...
I bought a TMO GS3 T999 from a CL seller. I went to the TMO store and got the microsim. I got home to realize that the sim was still not registered so I contacted TMO. I was informed that the phone was blacklisted for being reported stolen.
What are my options now? Can the phone be unlocked and used with StraightTalk?

That sucks but....
Changing IMEI is illegal and can not be asked about how to change on XDA.
Sell it for parts is the only thing I can think of.

Look guys I think the law is a bunch of Bull also. I was not trying to come off as a bad guy, just point out some of the problems. Yes it will be overturned but it has not been done as yet. All you guys jumped at me like some kind of Gang. Meant no harm was just passing on information.
The TMO chat agent actually suggested that I get it unlocked and use it elsewhere. She even gave me a website to try so Im guessing they arent that concerned about it.
Anyways, back on topic. If it is unlocked, can it be used with StraightTalk? Or because I would be using a TMO StraightTalk sim would it be blocked?

Due to site rules I can't tell you how but everything else I gotta say is legit so please no haters. You could change your imei (which I've been actually
thinking about getting a bad imei gs3 and test this out) and should be able to get service but I don't know about 4g. Technically since tmobile doesn't
use aaa passwords but sim cards you should be good. I would suggest you back up the nv items and so fourth then test it out.
P.S I'm not attacking anyone with this but did want to say people that made comments like unlocking is illegal or similar remarks do nothing but waste time and don't help anything. also it's a moderators job to handle those situations. p.s I won't be back in this thread for awhile if ever so please don't troll it up to prove a point to me. Good luck jayeggs

Yes it has to be unlocked. Once you have the device paid off you will have to wait 40 days for an unlock. You can't just go buy the phone and go straight to AT&T with it.
dang, i already prepaided 1 yr in advanced from straight talk on att's network.
i dont want their phone from what i hear they have locked the bootloader.
Yeah unfortunately preventing your plan is why they have these 40 day windows in place. I'm sure you can understand - they aren't pure retail and there are operational expenses involved with getting that phone to you that the N3 margins alone can't sustain.

negrielectronics is advertising an unlocked Tmobile Note 3:
http://negrielectronics.com/samsung-galaxy-note-3-32gb-lte-t-mobile-unlocked-black.html
Here is their statement on the unlocked status:
http://negricare.negrielectronics.c...056725-question-about-a-galaxy-note-3-tmobile
It doesn't have Tmobile warranty coverage and some ppl say it doesn't have samsung warranty either. So you might consider getting their warranty package if you get one of their phones. Might be cheaper in the end since you won't pay tax and you have to pay for an unlock service. Never used them myself but others have posted on their good standing.

I highly recommend you don't try and root the phone, it could significantly alter your phone in a negative ways (some irreversible) even if you unroot your phone. Note 3 is a phone that highly relies on its original Samsung software. I have it, so I know. And especially when you're downloading unknown software onto your computer to root or alter your phone, you're putting your computer at risk of being compromised with malware and viruses. And a lot of these people who root phones for a fee often won't tell you the dangers your phone will potentially face after its rooted. DON'T WASTE $800.00 ON A GUESS.

I've rooted every phone I've ever had no issues going back to the g1 iphones evo etc. Just follow instructions . For note 3 use kingo root latest version and use region unlock app works flawlessly . Only thong I would advice against is straight talk. But guess its too late
