Are These People Legit for SIM Unlocking? (GSM) - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

http://www.cellunlocker.net/blog/2012/06/unlock-galaxy-s3-t999-how-to-unlock-samsung-galaxy-s-iii-sgh-t999-by-unlock-code/
Since T-Mobile won't SIM unlock phones that are bought through upgrades

Yeah but you can get yours unlock after 3 months for free, or you can tell them that you going out of states

I think it's under $10 or something. I could be wrong.

I havent had time to test the code for my phone seeing as I need to get my hands on a non rogers micro sim. Price is 7.99, thought might be different dependingnon carrier

Total noob question, they ask for your imei number, can they do anything untoward with that info to cause havoc with one's account?

either get teh code from AT&T (if you're a customer) or pay $25 for it at one of the unlock code sites. there are no 'free' options outside of the carrier.
To get the code from ATT, dont you have to pay the full price of the phone though? Also, if you do the 25$ unlock code thingy, does the unlock stay forever (even if I do an update or change ROM's)?

No, I got my code from At&t after owning my device for 40 something days through upgrade and unlock stays forever ...even when OTA or ROM changing.

it also depends who you get as a CSR. one guy gave me a code for my sister's literally 2-day old SGS3 without question. i did online chate like 4 times before someone obliged.

Can i switch to a Japanese carrier?

I see this as unlikely, but would i be able to bring my phone to japan and place it on one of their carriers? Ive read they use cdma, but how much does that matter when it comes to radios or bands? I just bought this phone and found out a week later i will be moving there in november. Not too happy about this since i paid retail for this beast.

It's called unlocking and basically unlocks your phone so it can use any carrier. Now it's illegal in the US but call up your provider ask and for the unlock code anyway. Say you have to go there in a couple of day and you need to use the phone. Normally they'll give it to you via email and the instructions are included in the email. All you would have to do after you unlock the phone is replace the sim card and you'll all good to go. Now don't go online and buy the unlock codes from websites because most of them are scams and even though some might work, its not worth giving them your credit card number and then be in deep yogurt. Hoped this helped

You can probably get kddi mobile in japan to add your esn for you. I'm almost positive they use the same 3g frequency as sprint, however I doubt you'll be able to get lte.

If kddi won't add the esn, you could get a cheap phone thru them and flash your note with cdma ws or find another mvno that will add it. Now that sprint and softbank are looking at a partnership I think softbanks carrier's will accept sprint phones for Americans that come over without too much hassle. Japan has a large cdma network (largest outside of US) and use the same frequencys and sprint as vzw so 3g should be no problem and neither should finding someone to add your esn over there. They're pretty good about letting Americans use their own devices when they come over.

[Q] Blacklisted?

Well it seems that CL may have finally gotten the best of me...
I bought a TMO GS3 T999 from a CL seller. I went to the TMO store and got the microsim. I got home to realize that the sim was still not registered so I contacted TMO. I was informed that the phone was blacklisted for being reported stolen.
What are my options now? Can the phone be unlocked and used with StraightTalk?

That sucks but....
Changing IMEI is illegal and can not be asked about how to change on XDA.
Sell it for parts is the only thing I can think of.

Another problem with that, as of Jan 26 in the US it is illegal to unlock a phone unless the Service Provider sends you the unlock code.

Look guys I think the law is a bunch of Bull also. I was not trying to come off as a bad guy, just point out some of the problems. Yes it will be overturned but it has not been done as yet. All you guys jumped at me like some kind of Gang. Meant no harm was just passing on information.
The TMO chat agent actually suggested that I get it unlocked and use it elsewhere. She even gave me a website to try so Im guessing they arent that concerned about it.
Anyways, back on topic. If it is unlocked, can it be used with StraightTalk? Or because I would be using a TMO StraightTalk sim would it be blocked?

Due to site rules I can't tell you how but everything else I gotta say is legit so please no haters. You could change your imei (which I've been actually
thinking about getting a bad imei gs3 and test this out) and should be able to get service but I don't know about 4g. Technically since tmobile doesn't
use aaa passwords but sim cards you should be good. I would suggest you back up the nv items and so fourth then test it out.
P.S I'm not attacking anyone with this but did want to say people that made comments like unlocking is illegal or similar remarks do nothing but waste time and don't help anything. also it's a moderators job to handle those situations. p.s I won't be back in this thread for awhile if ever so please don't troll it up to prove a point to me. Good luck jayeggs

Have unlock code from AT&T, how do I unlock without having non AT&T sim card?

I got my unlock code directly from AT&T. I do not have another carrier sim card to place in the phone (that will fit, this is a smaller than standard size sim card). There are people in my office that have T-mobile, sprint, or Virgin but have full size sim cards.
Any suggestions or instructions??
Thanks!!

I'm wondering - would a SIM from an AT&T MVNO (such as RedPocket) be considered a "non AT&T SIM card" for purposes of unlocking?
I just bought an "H20 Wireless" micro sim card on Ebay for .99.
Hopefully it will do the trick...will post an update (if anyone cares) if it does or doesn't work when I receive it.
Why don't you just store the code and use it when you get any non att sim? I mean, why waste money, even a $, unless well you have a willing non att friend who can lend you his sim.

Got it. I didn't think of selling phone. I was thinking on my lines given that I am a frequent traveler, and get code from AT&T within 90 days or earlier of getting a new phone.
OK. so i put the H2O sim card in and reboted several times and all I get is "sim card not provisioned".
So I just borrowed a Verizon sim card from someone in the office that has a Verizon Galaxy S III and got the same thing.
I am not being prompted for an unlock code?
What Am I doing wrong???

No you can't. That's how much the phone costs. You must pay the full amount.

I know you can, the only question is will it be compatible hardware wise. There is a guide on how to unlock it through the dialer menu, if you are up to it. Or T-Mobile will unlock it for you if you are a customer. :good:
You can but he's taking about a phone on contact. You can't buy a contact phone and not pay the monthly service

Yes it is possible. but the problem isn't unlocking. the problem is that the phone costs around $600 dollars unlocked. the reason why it costs $199 on contract is because it is on contract and the company knows that they will have you for at least 2 years. and also because the monthly bill costs more.
So, if you want to send an S4 to your bro, you have to pay the full amount of around $600
Either way you decide to go, you CAN SIM-unlock the T-Mobile S4.
Yes. You can sim unlock it either way but i advice you not to buy it on contact as you will have to pay a monthly bill for a service you're not using.

I know that I was unable to get an unlock code through T-Mobile because I bought it outright from them and didn't have T-Mobile service. They did give me the option to get in touch with Samsung customer service and I would be able to get the unlock codes from them, but there was no ETA on how long it would take. Other options are to buy an unlock code from one of the many reputable sites or to try the unlock method over in General (which is free, obviously.)
