Reinstalling my OS? - Nokia Lumia 900

Is there a way to re-install the Operating System that is on my Lumia 900 right now? It's restarting randomly and i am afraid it might be bricked.
Suggestions?

Try resetting it, Settings > About > Reset your phone. See if that clears it up. If not, in the Development forum you can grab Nokia Care Suite and reflash the OS. Just make sure to watch the video fully before starting.

Resetting it didn't change anything. I will try to reflash the OS. Since it is an international lumia 900 (white + unlocked), Do you know which ROM i should use?

strange probs with my diamond

hopefully someone can help, ive searched to no avail...
so thursday last week i updated my rom to another rom, which i didnt like so tried another windows mobile 6.5 which i didnt like also. so i eventually decided to go back to my old rom, wm6.1 as i liked that.
so i used activesync to go back, and the phone was back to normal. but for some reason it kept crashing and i did a soft reset, and it proceeded to do a hard reset.
this in fact happened twice, so i thought ok may be the flash was bad.
i downloaded another copy of the rom and updated again.
SAME problem. random crashes, and i lose the control of the phone. i cannot turn off. this time i decide to remove and reinstall the battery. when the phone powers on, it decides to do a hard reset again...
i decide that may be the rom i downloaded was bad from source, so i decide to pick another and use for a few days to see. so i try the latest wm6.5 out now, and whenever i connect to pc it gives me the option to use activesync but i can never connect!!
eg, the "my computer" never shows the 4gb or the phone storage... it only shows it if i pick "disk drive" when i plug in the usb,,
this means i cannot load most of the roms so i cannot pick one.
may be is there a way i can completely wipe the phone memory and then use the hard reset plus back button to load a new rom from the 4gb??
im thinking that may be there are some old files stuck.
i think this because when i plug in the usb it gives me a menu, and the font type and size is nice. i restarted the phone, and now the usb menu font size and type has changed to a really square looking type.
im lost :/
thanks for your help

thank you. the first link you posted links to a topic which is the exact problem i am having.
also, my instinct was that some files were left behind - i wasnt far off.
now, i need to go and find out how to do this. i had a friend do it all for me, so im a complete noob.
im thinking i should have left well alone!
edit:: any ideas how i get into bootloader mode?
EDIT2:: VOL DOWN & Red RESET

any other suggestions?

You could also try flashing a stock ROM first and then flash back to custom ROM. This has worked for me in the past.

thanks you are very helpful. i just came back here to edit my previous post but you beat me to it.
i did this and now it detects windows again. however im really unsure as to why this has now happened. but at least its working.
i hope i dont have any more random crashes and resets... i even thought it may be my PIM backup being restored, so i did a hard reset and format and lost lots of things :/ i even lost some girls numbers as they were in text messages..
oh well, a working phone is more important anyways
thanks for all your help! much appreciated.
i just wanted to come back and say that this has seemed to have fixed the issue. there has not been one single hic-cup, or crash of ANY program on the phone since i did this and re-loaded the rom.
i would also like to say that the phone seems a LOT faster than before. this is the exact same rom i used before, and while when i first used this it was definately an improvement from the sluggish stock rom. however, what i am experiencing now is better still..
if these are the benefits you get from doing a format of the phone, then before i load each rom i might do this first. i see two benefits:
old files wont be there to conflict with the new rom,
the feel of the phone is improved.
i suppose the downside is the limitations on the memory itself. but that would be years before this would be met - i hope anyway.

SOL?

I installed the lastest Xperia X2 video drivers to my TP2, restarted the device and it's stuck at the T-Mobile splash screen with the software versions in the lower right corner.
Any hope of getting it back up and running WITHOUT a hard reset?
Thanks
Cyph
I hate to say it, but probably not. The only ways I know of to remove any WinCE software or drivers require the device to at least boot into Windows Mobile. I'd say the only way to use the device again would be a hard reset. Sorry
Yep, had to hard reset. Didn't lose too much, just a few media messages. Lesson learned.
Thanks.

[Help] s4 mini stuck on samsung logo

Sorry if this post doesn't belong here but I'm really desperate!!.
I had a custom software (all worked perfect) but the phone was missing memory so I factory reset it, following that I noticed that the "various files" size was still 2Gb (as before), so I tried to delete all of it.
I think this is where I screw it up... went to recovery mode again, then formatted all.... system, cache, data, boot aaand (yes, I'm an idiot) data, data/media.
Tried everything, format factory again, install CWM with odin again, CAN'T ENTER SAFE MODE
PLEASE HELP ME, I don't know what else to do!
I really can't allow to buy another phone and I really like this one.

Thanks but I already solved the problem. Using the restore from Kies.
Method 3: Fixing Galaxy S4 stuck at Samsung Logo Using Kies 3 Firmware Initialization method
This has been a proven a working solution as Samsung also recommended it if your phone suffers software update failure and you ended up from booting problem. The full detailed guide can be found here. This has fixed several issues such as bootloop once after initiating software updates and gets into an Emergency Recovery Failed but can also resolve on frozen Samsung logo problem.
To be able to use this method you will importantly need to download and install Kies 3 in your computer and your phone’s model number and the S/N number which can be found on the label underneath your phone’s battery. This process also wipes out all your stored data and will not be recoverable once you take this method.
Grab Kies 3 from Samsung. Once installed, run it.
Click Tools > Firmware Upgrade and Initialization.
Enter your device Model name and click OK.
Enter the device S / N number and click OK.
Then follow each of the given instruction on Kies 3.
If Kies couldn’t recognized you phone for some reasons that you might have a modified firmware running then your best shot is to forcefully install back the official firmware version on your Galaxy S4. Just continue reading and or use Method 4 instead.

Thank you, really. Your response was incredible fast

Need fix: latest (?) update causing continuous reboot

The last fast ring update I know I had on my HTC M8 (registry hacked to think it's a Lumia 950) was Redstone 10.0.14915.1000, which has been working just fine for a couple weeks now. Today a new update was pushed to the phone, which must have been the latest fast ring (Redstone 10.0.14926.1000). However, after I rebooted the phone to install the update after it finished installing it rebooted itself again (as expected) but now just continuously reboots. I have to perform the factory hard reset using the volume keys to get the phone to shut down totally. But when I start it again it just goes into the continuous reboot scenario again.
Anyone know if there's a way to recover from this? I really don't want to have to use the Windows Device Recovery Tool to go back to Win8.1 and start all over again if I can help it.
Too impatient. I went ahead and used the recovery tool to go back to Win8.1 Update 2. Oh, joy!
You're not alone brother. Hit mine this morning, luckly I woke up without my alarm, but 30 minutes late. Good thing I'm fast in the morning.. Just enough time to restore and head to work. Gonna pop back to the slow ring asap..
I couldn't get it to boot into Windows 10 once it got stuck. I had to use the recovery tool to go back to Windows 8.1 but didn't realize they have since pulled the Windows Insider support for the HTC so now I can't even get the phone to upgrade to the Win10 Insider Preview build. My previous method was to side-load Interop Tools for Win10 after upgrading to Win10 via the Insider Preview app and then I hacked the registry to trick the phone into thinking it's a Lumia 950. Since I can't get back to Win10 I don't know how to edit the registry in Win8.1.
Anyone able to point me to the correct tools for editing the registry in Windows 8.1?
Same thing here .. please if anyone knows a way to backup the data when phone is in that situation share it please .. I can't delete the data on my phone it's too important!! ..
Found Win8-to-Win10 instructions for Lumia but need it for HTC
Well, I found the following post explaining how to update a Lumia back to Win10 after downgrade to Win8: http://forum.xda-developers.com/win...le/installing-windows-10-mobile-tech-t3431454
However, I don't think that will work for an HTC. Basically, I think I just need a way to get to the registry on an HTC w/ Win8 installed and then I should be able to update to Win10.
Just not having any luck finding anything on the forum for hacking the registry on an HTC w/ Win8...

Does the HTC have an SD card? If so, you can try the SD card method rather than the wpinternals one.

Yes it does. I got the following response from another user on a thread I posted under the HTC One M8 for Windows forum. I haven't tried it yet but it looks like a summary of the steps necessary to upgrade the HTC One M8 from Win8 to Win10. Here's the link for anyone else in the same boat:

Unable to reset Andriod ZTE phone bc of FRP lock, Looking for help unlocking Please!

Hi,
So I have a rather unheard of problem. I was given a phone from a friend before they moved out of state and have no way of contacting them anymore. I turned it on and it had a pass code so i just figured i would do a factory reset ( or what i assumed to be a factory reset) using the buttons on the phone. I used the recovery menu to get to the screen that gave me the options to wipe data, or install update from apk, or factory reset the phone so i used the volume buttons and clicked reset. I let the phone do its thing and when it turned back on it goes to the google factory reset protection page saying i need to login using a google account that was previously used on the phone before the reset. FML! i used the talk back option to be able to access the settings menu and figured i would just do the reset from the settings menu. This is were all of my problems begin!! I can access the settings menu and get to the back up & reset and then click the the Factory reset option. However, the factory reset screen has a button at the bottom of the screen that says Reset Phone and when I click the Reset phone button, absolutely nothing happens. (It makes a click sound but it doesn't do anything at all)
The Other Problem!!: For some unknown reason i cant seem to access the developer options and enable USB debugging. even after i put the phone in safe mode i still could not get the developer options to appear. I have no clue what i am doing wrong but i feel like i am running into a brick wall and not matter what i click or press the phone just will not do what it is suppose to do! I tried every way I can think of to enable USB debugging but, no matter how many times I try to click Build Number or Build Version ( whatever it is exactly called, hopefully you can understand what I mean) nothing happens! I have tried to install a USB debugging app from a qr code but it won't read the qr code from the camera app. I was able to access the camera app using the same talk back trick that i used to get into the settings. I keep telling myself if only i knew about the talk back trick to get into the settings menu before i stupidly reset the phone when i first saw the pass code. So I am hoping that a google FRP Bypass program will work and help me make the phone usable again!! Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?? I am open to all ideas.
So far i have come up with a few ideas but idk if any of them are even possible to accomplish! Can someone help me out and tell me if any of the following options are even possible and whether or not it will be helpful and make the phone usable so i can have a cell phone again. Please, Please can someone help me!! Ideas:
1.) Use a Google Factory Reset Protection Unlocking program.
2.)Somehow completely delete the entire phone and reinstall the marshmallow android OS, like when you would do a fresh clean install of windows on a PC, (IDK if this is even possible but i am assuming it should be)
3.) Rooting the phone and finding a new custom ROM. ( I haven't even done anything like or close to rooting a phone, but im guessing it cant be that hard, right? Google and YouTube have vast amounts of tutorials........, hopefully,....right?
4.) I have backups of my older phones that i am wondering if it would be possible to use one of the backups i have saved and somehow putting it on the phone as a way to get pasted the FRP lock? I haven't a clue if the backups are only usable to the specific phones that created them or if they can be used on any phone?
5.) Downgrade the Android version to a older version that doesn't have the FRP lock, then once i have access into the phone i can just upgrade the phone after i logging into my google account.
6.) You know how Windows PC have the restore option in the settings so you can go back to a previously made restore point? Like turning back the clock so to speak, Is this option available or does it even exist at all on Android? I was thinking if it does i can just simply store the phone back to before i stupidly reset it and then use the trick to bypass the screen lock code and use the settings to do a hard reset ( I really don't think this option even exists or is possible but im literally at the point of willing to try and do absolutely anything to be able to have a phone again! Please and thanks! It is a ZTE Z837VL and it is Android marshmallow, Android Version 6.0.1 (I'm not sure if the
Android version matters or not?)
Thanks. Also If this is the wrong place for this post then please just let me know where the correct spot is to post and i will quickly fix it!! I am new to the site and I have read alot of posts and truthfully, feel like i have overwhelmed myself with trying to make sure i do things the way its supposed to be done. I know many most likely ALL of the members on this site are advanced and way more knowledgeable about the mobile phone information. I do know alot of computers and I have alot of programming experience but i have only focused on PCs and am just starting to learn what i can about mobile development.
Thanks again for helping me and sharing whatever you can with me to help solve things. I am really hoping not to end up with a paperweight haha!!
Alyson
