I've got my device 2 weeks ago from T-mobile in Hungary.
So far it's been good, but I hated the Sense UI, unlocked my bootloader and installed CM10.
I've just noticed if I press the right edge of the screen I get this screen issue. I don't really know how to describe it, but it's just as if I pressed my desktop's LCD screen. The screen slightly recoulours and waves appear. I've found others with the same issue (and there seems to be another guy from T-Mobile HU): http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/htc-one-x-screen-flex-flaw-we-would-never-let-that-ship-50007596/
However I don't even have to press it hard, - normally is enough - and it's not only on the right corner, but on the edge too. Sometimes I can hear a crack. (it must be the case of the device)
So I'd like to get it fixed or replaced, but sadly as I've mentioned I've already unlocked my bootloader. Is this a problem for replacing/fixing it? Where should I take it? T-mobile or to HTC?
Thank you very much for your help and time.
P.S. Why always me? :crying: 泣く
same here.
Well, you should always look after faults with your phone before unlocking the bootloader.

Alright, why would I start pushing around the edges of a new phone? Thanks for your constructive response.
By the way the I checked the htcdev site again, it sais
Unlocking your device allows you to install custom Operating Systems (“OS”) onto your device. Custom OS’s are not tested as thoroughly as your original OS, and unlocking your device may void all or parts of your warranty.

>may void.
English grammar: may means something is possible, but it is not certain. So this could be interpreted as you're only responsible for the software, and this is a build issue.
So T-mobile (carrier) or HTC?
this is going to be my last htc device, the original SGS was leaps and bounds better, even with its cheap plastic back, but sadly I've lost it. You didn't even have to unlock the bootloader.
P.S. Sorry for my English

No point, if one relocks the bootloader the fact that someone has opened it before can be seen.
Wait if I take it to the carrier they'd send to it htc to repair it right?
Im at T-Mobile Hungary, too, and if you send it back to them, they send it to HTC, and after that it doesnt matter if its repaired or not, you'll even have to pay for returning your damaged phone...my hungarian is better than my english
Well, obviously if you would just have waited a couple of weeks before unlocking your bootloader you would obviously have noticed the screen? Thank you for your constructive response.

True, but the only way to RUU it back to stock is with a ***LOCKED*** or ***RELOCKED*** HBOOT.

Can you please explain it? RUU is to revert to stock right? Can HTC see if I had unlocked my phone earlier if I do this? Care to post a guide or something?
No guide necessary, you just run a .exe and away it goes.
However it will fail if you try and use it with an unlocked bootloader, so as you have one, you have to relock it. Sadly though, it won't hide that you've done it, but at least it wont have CM10 on it anymore.

Restored it with RUU, wish me luck tomorrow at T-mobile
EDIT: Aight, they sent it to HTC. They'll get back to me in 2 weeks.
This is ****ing retarded.
They've replaced the screen and the battery, but it has the same build issue but on the left side. ARE YOU ****ING KIDDING ME?!
I'm going to ask for a replacement tomorrow. What the flying **** HTC. Feels like I'm being trolled
I had this "problem" from the beginning.
Not sure why this is a big deal, since i never squeeze my phone on the sides.
I thought this was a normal thing...
Are you sure they actually replaced the screen? And why the battery? You have every right to be pissed off

please do..as your story seems quite interesting now. hopefully they will replace it for you but kinda makes you think twice before unlocking it now kinda makes me sad hearing that..i really do hope there is an S-OFF exploit cause if there is not i maybe just maybe might end up selling this and going back to either s2 or buy the s3 when that comes out and hopefully that bootloader will be unlocked...i am really loving my phone but things on this side seem so complicated compare to the s2 one
The htcdev unlock shouldn't affect your hardware warranty but it is worded so that in theory anything could be blamed on you altering the firmware. It would be daft if they do end up refusing to fix your phone for free as it is obviously nothing to do with the unlock.

I also have informed Clove that I have posted here.
Let's wait and see whether all the hype about HTC opening the bootloader is just marketing or has some sense. After all, I didn't alter anything hardware so if - say - some button or screen ceases to function or doesn't do it properly, why shouldn't warranty be valid??
The thing with the yellow point is well known. At least in Germany. Had a One X that had the same yellow spot on the left bottom of the display too.
Brought it back to the shop (Saturn) and get a complete new one.
Hopefully you get a new one, too!
Forget to mention that I've didn't unlock it.

The way HTC word it on htcdev is that because you're not using official validated firmware then you might have had faulty firmware which damaged hardware e.g. it was overheating but the firmware somehow managed to ignore it and continue.
It depends on what is faulty I guess. If the micro USB socket breaks then it is obviously nothing that could be caused by firmware.
The yellowish spot is probably the glue they used to stick the LCD to the touchscreen. There are quite a few mentions of similar spots on this forum. Was it there when you first got the phone?
Yes it was there but it went unnoticed due to excess of enthusiasm in going through each and every menu and too much work to take care of small details. but then, with time, I got aware of the yellow spot.
Clove also noticed it and sent the phone to HTC.
I avoided unlocking at HTCDev as I'd like to keep my warranty, so I will be waiting for Revolutionary

HTC is entitled to some form of protection. If you overclock and fry your CPU they shouldn't have to eat the cost. Friends who unlocked international phones have gotten h/w (display, build issues, etc.) related warranty service from HTC with no hassle.
Here's their policy:
It is our responsibility to caution you that not all claims resulting or caused by or from the unlocking of the bootloader may be covered under warranty.
Unlocking the bootloader means that you now have the ability to customize software on your device. Please note that changing your bootloader can cause significant issues with your device and once you have unlocked your device, you have agreed to the disclaimer that states a change in warranty status such that in the event you render your device unusable, you are responsible for the recovery of your device, whether by repair or by other means.
It seems fairly reasonable. Asus has Prime owners completely waive their warranty rights, even for non-related issues, when they unlock their bootloaders. So it could be worse.
You know the old saying - "you play, you pay."

i rooted my HOX also. after 2 weeks i noticed the wifi fault AND a yellow spot. relocked it and send it in for repair. returned the phone a few weeks later. Still had a wifi issue, but now i don't get warranty for their faulty repair the first time because they saw is was *relocked*

Hey all,
I want to call HTC and get them to fix my phone (hopefully free). It's under warranty and after the JB update it is simply unresponsive. I've tried all kinds of roms, stock RUU, etc, no fix. So maybe it's a hardware thing. Either way, I want to know how to get them to think I haven't broken my warranty (the global warranty).
So, i install stock RUU and lock the bootloader, but don't they know that I unlocked it in the first place?
Anyone who's worked with them, please let me know how to deal with them and make it seem like I haven't flashed the crap out of my phone.

what is the problem that makes you send it for repair? If it's a hardware problem then it's them who are going to fool you.
currently the only way to fool them is S-Off the phone, which is not possible.

Well I stated the problem in the original thread. It's unresponsive, screen flickers, etc. I'm looking for someone that's sent a phone to them that has had a bootloader unclocked and relocked and still got the warranty.
I sent my HTC Sensation away when the touchscreen became inop, but my telco was the one that approved the repair and HTC's local agent did the repair, and that was s-off, unlocked and rooted; got it back repaired and with the exact same data as when it left.
Mind you I'm in the backwater the world calls Oz.
I sent my HOX twice with "Relocked" bootloader for wifi and "screen flex" problem, and they have done no problem!
The 80-90% of the relocked devices with HW issues will be repaired with no problems.
Obviously if your problem is an SW software they will NEVER repair your phone
Hi Guys
im really sorry to post this been i have been trying to use the search function all morning but it doesn't seem to be working for me (see attached)
Anyway, now to the question in hand....i need to send my phone back to HTC for repair, but as i have unlocked my bootloader "apparently" it no longer falls under the warranty...
therefore is it possible to get the bootloader back to "locked" as the Customer Service guy told me that if its Re-locked or Unlocked they wont do a thing under warranty
can anyone please help....and once again im sorry this may have been covered before, but my search is not working

'fastboot oem lock' will set the bootloader status to RELOCKED. This will be fine under warranty purposes so long as it's a hardware issue and not software.
I sent my relocked One X back to HTC a few months ago because the battery was faulty. They didn't question it at all.

There are number of people who have initially been rebuffed only for HTC to make a "good will" repair, which is in fact nonsense. Corporations don't do good will, they are obligated under the law.

All HTC would have to do is look in bootloader to see it was RELOCKED instead of LOCKED.
It can be made LOCKED with s-off, and than made s-on again (although not sure about the s-on part, I haven't actually seen a process to do so). But HTC will always have a record of the bootloader being unlocked via HTCDev.com.
Although some have argued that HTCDev.com only tracks that a unlock bin code has been issued, and they have no way of knowing if you actually used that code or not.

So is there no way to talk with second microphone at the back?
If the mic works sometimes, there are 2 possibilities:
A firmware issue
Mic is loose.
1-Try upgrading/downgrading the firmware and see if that helps
2- If you are not concerned about warranty, open the phone and check the mic.
If warranty is still accountable, go back to stock and apply for it. The worst it can happen is that they say to you, we cant because it was unlocked. Then you go back to step 1.

Technically, almost anything is possible. But whether such a thing exists, or can feasibly be made (or any dev interest in doing so) is another story.
Maybe see if a rule exists of can be created for the AutomateIt app? Situation like this seems right up the alley for that app.
Just went through the exact same scenario and was about to ship my phone on for repair.
Before you do that, take a toothbrush and slowly scrub the bottom speaker grille. Focus mostly on the left 2/3's of the grille. You will quickly see a bunch of crud coming out.
After cleaning it, give the mic a try and see if it's back to normal.

Hi, so i got a G4 H815 and i can unlock my bootloader, but my only concern is that after unlocking it my warranty will be void.
So my question is does anyone have a hardware problem? Like screen problems or anything?
I unlocked my bootloader, but I didn't notice my digitizer is broken. It's really dysfunctional. Using multi-touch results in my phone thinking that I'm touching the screen at random locations. Scrolling is a pain in the arse as well.
I don't know whether I can send my phone to LG to just get it fixed. I should be, since the law in the Netherlands states that if it's a hardware fault, you still have warranty.
Returned my first G4 because of a faulty screen.
I had Bootloader unlocked it via LG Dev site and had no problem getting a new one.
