I was running Yakjuxw 4.0.4(OTA comes from Samsung) on my GSM GNEX and couldn't wait for Samsung to push Jellybean anymore so I looked around and found this, it changes Yakjuxw(4.0.1, 4.0.2 and 4.0.4) to Yakju 4.0.1(OTA comes straight from Google).
Here are the steps I followed from rubiconjp's post and cleaned it up for everyone that was in my position. After the downloads, it took like less than 10min to get it on Yakju. It is super easy. No Rooting, No Custom ROMs.
Download the USB driver and firmware files to Windows.
Firmware
USB Driver
Run USB driver app in Windows, Reboot Windows
Run firmware app in Windows
Put phone in Download mode (Power off, Press Volume Down button + Power On button down until it goes to Download Mode, plug USB cable in)
Once the device is found in the firmware app, click start!
Let it finish and you are done.
When it starts back up you should setup your phone back up with all the Apps that you want before installing the OTAs. It's going to go from 4.0.2>4.0.4>4.1.1. From start to finish it took me 30-40min to get my phone back the way I want it. Good luck and enjoy.
The original carrier for my phone (Rogers) still had it on 4.0.2, so I upgraded it immediately on receipt to yakju. Used a different method (PDAnet drivers + Nexus toolkit), but yeah... getting onto yakju is one of the best things one can start off with...

This is awesome. I never had the time to follow through hundreds of threads to manually switch to yakju. I like you also had yakjuxw 4.0.4 through samsung OTA. I waited patiently to get it. But a casual search on google led me to this thread. It works like a charm! My Gnex is going through 4.0.4 then 4.1.1!
As stated super easy....just note that when you plug your phone in the firmware tool will recognize your phone as a binary. (0:1) something to that nature. Then just hit start in the firmware.
Thanks!

Hey!
I'm fa Belgian girl, so sorry for my English!
I have a Galaxy Nexus too and I have the yakjuxw version... I'm quite a noob though! I'm afraid I'm going to crash my nexus and than kill myself for trying to do stuff I don't understand!
So... My question is: In the step "Put phone in Download mode (Power off, Press Volume Down button + Power On button down until it goes to Download Mode, plug USB cable in)" does the phone need to be off or, I don't know... I just do it?!
Sorry for the dumb question... I'm really freaked out with this kind of stuff!

Nice thank you. Im gonna go home and try this!!
But i cant stop thinking if this will have an impact on my signal strenght or somthing else? There must be a difference in these to builds, since they have made them.
Im living in Denmark and i wonder if yakjuxw is better for something in denmark (maybe the antenna setup or something?)
I can always flash back if it doesnt work that good. ill update this post after flash to yakju
PS: The file from rapid share takes ages to download :-/
UPDATE: Works like a charm!! Thank you! No problems detected yet
I have an different question that I couldn't find answer for it. How can one flash the stock firmware (I mean nonyakju). Every guide mentions how to revert to stock using official images (yakju). Before flashing yakju image, can I make some backup image of the current nonyakju rom. Thanks for advice.
The driver was not working for me, so after some serching on xda i found newer driver SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_1_5_6_0 and then everything was peachy
This is the driver i used.

OK I was trying to flash an unlocked kernal via ODIN last night, something went wrong and now phone is stuck on the phone--!--computer screen. I cannot get past this screen. vol+home+power doesn't do anything but loop to the same screen.
It shows ODIN MODE in red at the top of the screen, but ODIn won't recognize the phone, nor will Kies (not running at the same time). Computer makes USB connected/disconnected sound when I plug and unplug the phone.
I have tried One-Click Unbrick, did not recognize that phone was connected.

there''s currently nothing to flash this phone
it came out only 2 days ago
DEV are still working on finding root
so, the best suggestion is to take it back to the store and get it exchanged
or wait a few more days/weeks until a flashable release becomes available to fix the mistake
I know, I was hasty and now this. Even when there something available to flash, the device isn't being recognized by ODIN. Any troubleshooting help for this?
When I managed to get my Vibrant into that mode I could pull the battery, hold volume up, put the battery in, press and release power (still holding volume up) and it'd kick back into download mode everytime. Once in download mode I could plug the USB in and a running ODIN would see it pop up. If ODIN wasn't running and USB was already plugged in things wouldn't work right.
I haven't tried ODIN on the GS2 yet (I'll wait for a root ). I did find the vibrant nearly impossible to brick though... trust me I unexpectedly tried quite hard.
You might need the newest ODIN for GS2 support, and possibly newer drivers.

I'm a bit new to this, but a custom ROM shouldn't affect your recovery mode. Are you sure you are using the correct buttons and methods to boot recovery?
Might want to make a new thread instead of necroing something from when the phone was 2 days old.

You should try to uninstall then reinstall driver, and try another usb port. In my experience, Odin seems to be picky, it only recognizes your phone if you plug it in the usb port that you used in the first time.

Recovery is accessed by holding both vol + and - while starting the phone. Hold them both while pressing the power button, then release the power button when it vibrates, keep holding the vol buttons till you see the recovery screen.

i tryed this but still odin does not recognize my phone. (no yellow box shows up)
After going from one thread to the other i was able to do it myself so I've decided to put it all under 1 thread... Unzip all the files you download
WARNING!!!! I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE TO WHATEVER HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE!!!
Step ONE :
Download the USB driver and firmware files to Windows. ( USB DRIVERS) ( FIRMWARE)
Run USB driver app in Windows, reboot Windows.
Run firmware app in Windows.
Put phone in download mode (power off, volume down + power on, plug USB cable in)
in firmware app, click start!
And you're done!
You're now yakju with latest Google ITL41F.
For those who are having issues with the "R" icon for roaming on Fido, rogers,Wind,Mobilicity etc etc .. follow the instructions below
You will need to unlock your bootloader and the following files:
1: FASTBOOT
2: UGLK1 RADIO
Unlock Galaxy Nexus Bootloader
Below’s a step by step guide for folks who’re not much familiar with fastboot and stuff like that. Here you go:
Put your phone in fastboot mode:
Switch off your phone
Hold the Volume Up Key + Volume Down Key and then press the Power button.
You’ll now see a Android robot. And text below it would read “FASTBOOT MODE” in red.
Extract the Fastboot.zip file on your PC
Now open the Fastboot folder ─ hold Shift key and Right click at any empty space inside the folder, and select “Open command window here“
Now connect your phone to your PC using USB cable, and then type fastboot devices in the command prompt to make sure your device is recognized.
And now to unlock the bootloader, type this in the command prompt:
fastboot oem unlock
Accept the request on your phone by selecting Yes using the Volume button and then press the Power button to confirm. (Keep CMW opened as you'll need it for people with the roaming issues)
Next you will want to "Flash" the UGLK1 Radio. To do so follow the instructions below:
In CMW after you have unlocked your bootloader, Type:
fastboot flash radio <radio-maguro-i9250ugkl1.img> without the "<>"
Then
fastboot oem lock (to relock your bootloader)
Enjoy your new Galaxy Nexus updated by Google!
Will rooting/unlocking the bootloader void the warranty? Any way around this?

EDIT: I have rebooted my phone, and restarted all over. I worked
I am not exprt but looks like your phone drivers ste not loading properly. I had same issue but then I waited for the drivers to load on my pc and then pressed start button again and it stsrted working .
I would suggest that you conect your first snd let windows load drivers. When you drivers are loaded then follow the procedure .
I have a galaxy s 2 tmobile version rooted and running beastmod 5.0
So I'm having a problem. I flashed the ics roms to my t989. I was running bm 5 before. I called the #2632* thingy to just get edge instead of 4g because it was killing my battery. I decided to go back to bm 5 cuz the ics ports based on the att leak were horrible. Usually on bm 5 I have GSM only selected for the network but it hasn't been able to connect. The only way I can connect is by using wcdma/gsm auto mode to connect to T-Mobile then I can select GSM only to just use GSM. If I restart with GSM only again it wont find signal unless wcdma/GSM is seleceted then I switch to GSM only. Idk what to do anymore GSM only used to work before I flashed ics and this is pissing me off help me anyone please! Its greatly appreciated.
Did you flash a gingerbread radio before going back to bm?
I did I found the t989 radio on xda I flashed it and it didn't work its the same problem.

Ok, you are going to need the drivers for your phone. http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/
You need odin as well, download it. http://www.mediafire.com/?u868rqz4qn0ta34
If you already have drivers and odin move on to below
Go here http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/ and make an account. I use sammobile because it contains everything in one shot. No need to get radio and crap from other places. After you make an account go to firmware section and type t989 in the search box. download the t989uvkid or Kl1 ASSUMING YOU HAVE AMERICAN T989
After you have completed the download you are going to need to unzip it with 7zip to extract the tar.
Plug the USB cable into your computer, without plugging it into your phone.
Hold VOL UP + VOL DOWN while plugging in the USB cable to your phone. Stop holding buttons when the ''Warning'' appears.
Press Volume UP and open ODIN (Run as Admin on Vista and 7, just to be safe)
Click PDA and locate the MD5 file you extracted earlier.
WAIT FOR ODIN TO RECOGNIZE YOUR PHONE. THE COM PORT WILL TURN YELLOW AND HAVE A NUMBER
MAKE SURE NOTHING BUT AUTO REBOOT IS CHECKED!!!!!!!
Press 'Start' and be patient. It will take a few minutes because it is a large file.
phone will reboot automatically.
thank so much for the instructions however
this llink doesnt work for the DRIVERS doesnt work

If you go to Samsung website and download Kies, the drivers will automatically update.

It doesn't matter. Just follow the directions. I've already broke it down barney style and explained it in more detail than anyone else ever has. Spent a decent amount of time to help you, and you have yet to even push the button and give me a simple thanks. Geeze man

I was using PA rom (3.69) with Franco kernel, my recovery was TWRP 2.6.0.0
yesterday I was backing up my sd card (I'm doing it every 2 months) and then some error was showing up an my pc's screen I don't really remember what the error said but I found out that was from my twrp folder, so to find what happend I just wanted to boot up into the recovery and then my nexus wont boot up I found out that my Gnex was hard bricked (with no reason why) so I used this page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1760787/) to unbrick and it helped alot but I can't find my backups , and when I'm trying to boot into Fastboot, the recovery or even to reboot, it's funny that my nexus was working excellent befor what happend :crying: (btw my nexus was pluged to my pc when i tried to boot into twrp)
so yeah can not do anything I'm stuck with a broken PA (all my apps are still installed but I can not find my backups)
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME !!!!
My Device : White Galaxy nexus (takju) 16GB
Rom: PA: latest 4.2.2
Kernel: Franco latest
Recovery: Stupid TWRP (I'm going back to CWM after this)
There is no possible way in hell to brick a gnex unless your NAND fries lol, download mode is hard coded into the chips and you can always get into it no matter what happens. I suggest using ODIN and flashing all the factory images, there are guides floating around, a factory reset usually fixes all your problems
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus VZW @1.2 GHz on Stock 4.3

my battery was on 97%
Well I guess that my Gnex Was killed, I can't even use the OMAP Flash
guessing that twrp killed it
So, you take out the battery, put it back in, hold vol+ and vol- and then hit the power button, and absolutely nothing happens? The screen doesn't come on at all?
What if you take the battery out, put the batter back in, and plug it in to the wall charger (don't try and turn it on). Have you left it on the wall charger for a couple hours?

I tried that method and it didn't work.
I know very well how to use android (I used android for 3 years) and I never saw this thing before ,It's weird that you can not even brick (Kill) nexus devices.

already did that
I have the same thing with a buddies GNex. I flashed stock images using a toolkit, nada. SuperWiped, flashed stock, nada. Even did an ODIN flash several times, and still nothing.
We can boot into Fastboot and various custom recoveries, but nothing is booting.

Did you do what i am going to mention?
Part 1:
Now you will need these things before you're proceeding
**USB cable**
**I suggest using windows 7 (because my windows 8 pc didn't install the drivers)**
**A bricked Gnex (of course) without the battery installed **
** and these files "https://www.dropbox.com/sh/owi65iy2xvvpzf0/i5rgGJFJwO" **
1 go ahead and download the files that I provided
2 extract the "9250 omapflash_tuna.zip" to the desktop (recommend)
3 go into your device manager [Control Panel ---> Hardware and Sound ---> Device Manager]
4 go to Actions Menu and select Add Legacy Hardware then click on add manually double click on Snow All Devices, Have Disk, now go into the omapflash folder and choose "usb_drv_windows", "omap_winusb.inf".
Now now, it will take some time so please be patient .
5 after the drivers are installed plug in the Gnex into the USB cable that you have.
6 go back to the omapflash folder and open the "omap4460_tuna_hs_pro.bat" it will some scripts that will "semi unbrick" your nexus
7 close the .bat program and install back the battery to your nexus and boot into DOWNLOAD MODE (if your gnex had USB debugging on before it was bricked, if not boot into your rom and enable it and then afterwards
perform 1-6 if your nexus can't boot back into download mode)
Part 2:
**you will need t charge your Gnex to 80%-90%**
**you will need your Gnex installed USB drivers on your pc (the best way is to install kies)**
1 unzip the second zip file "Odin.stock Gnex I9250 4.3" to the desktop (again recommend)
2 open the folder and then open "Odin307" after that open Odin307.exe (once your phone is successfully connected to your pc, the ID:COM box on ODIN will turn blue and will show the COM port number)
3 click the PIT icon and choose "I9250_partition-table-0915.pit" from the ODIM folder
then click the PDA box. then click the button and choose "odin.takju.4.3.tar.md5"
4 now click on start button and it will fully unbrick you Sexy Galaxy Nexus (don't be afraid it will take some minutes)
plus you just updated to android 4.3
special thanks to samersh72, rekrapg and legija
