[Q] [HELP] Gnex bricked - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I was using PA rom (3.69) with Franco kernel, my recovery was TWRP 2.6.0.0
yesterday I was backing up my sd card (I'm doing it every 2 months) and then some error was showing up an my pc's screen I don't really remember what the error said but I found out that was from my twrp folder, so to find what happend I just wanted to boot up into the recovery and then my nexus wont boot up I found out that my Gnex was hard bricked (with no reason why) so I used this page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1760787/) to unbrick and it helped alot but I can't find my backups , and when I'm trying to boot into Fastboot, the recovery or even to reboot, it's funny that my nexus was working excellent befor what happend :crying: (btw my nexus was pluged to my pc when i tried to boot into twrp)
so yeah can not do anything I'm stuck with a broken PA (all my apps are still installed but I can not find my backups)
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME !!!!
My Device : White Galaxy nexus (takju) 16GB
Rom: PA: latest 4.2.2
Kernel: Franco latest
Recovery: Stupid TWRP (I'm going back to CWM after this)

There is no possible way in hell to brick a gnex unless your NAND fries lol, download mode is hard coded into the chips and you can always get into it no matter what happens. I suggest using ODIN and flashing all the factory images, there are guides floating around, a factory reset usually fixes all your problems

EDIT I have the same problem that the user rekrapg had but I don't have my backups anymore

Wait what? So what exactly happens when you try and get in to fastboot?

my battery was on 97%

Well I guess that my Gnex Was killed, I can't even use the OMAP Flash
guessing that twrp killed it

So, you take out the battery, put it back in, hold vol+ and vol- and then hit the power button, and absolutely nothing happens? The screen doesn't come on at all?
What if you take the battery out, put the batter back in, and plug it in to the wall charger (don't try and turn it on). Have you left it on the wall charger for a couple hours?

I tried that method and it didn't work.
I know very well how to use android (I used android for 3 years) and I never saw this thing before ,It's weird that you can not even brick (Kill) nexus devices.

It's alive !!!! Alive !!!!!!!!!
So I searched a bit on xda and found some helpful Pages

already did that

I have the same thing with a buddies GNex. I flashed stock images using a toolkit, nada. SuperWiped, flashed stock, nada. Even did an ODIN flash several times, and still nothing.
We can boot into Fastboot and various custom recoveries, but nothing is booting.

Did you do what i am going to mention?
Part 1:
Now you will need these things before you're proceeding
**USB cable**
**I suggest using windows 7 (because my windows 8 pc didn't install the drivers)**
**A bricked Gnex (of course) without the battery installed **
** and these files "https://www.dropbox.com/sh/owi65iy2xvvpzf0/i5rgGJFJwO" **
1 go ahead and download the files that I provided
2 extract the "9250 omapflash_tuna.zip" to the desktop (recommend)
3 go into your device manager [Control Panel ---> Hardware and Sound ---> Device Manager]
4 go to Actions Menu and select Add Legacy Hardware then click on add manually double click on Snow All Devices, Have Disk, now go into the omapflash folder and choose "usb_drv_windows", "omap_winusb.inf".
Now now, it will take some time so please be patient .
5 after the drivers are installed plug in the Gnex into the USB cable that you have.
6 go back to the omapflash folder and open the "omap4460_tuna_hs_pro.bat" it will some scripts that will "semi unbrick" your nexus
7 close the .bat program and install back the battery to your nexus and boot into DOWNLOAD MODE (if your gnex had USB debugging on before it was bricked, if not boot into your rom and enable it and then afterwards
perform 1-6 if your nexus can't boot back into download mode)
Part 2:
**you will need t charge your Gnex to 80%-90%**
**you will need your Gnex installed USB drivers on your pc (the best way is to install kies)**
1 unzip the second zip file "Odin.stock Gnex I9250 4.3" to the desktop (again recommend)
2 open the folder and then open "Odin307" after that open Odin307.exe (once your phone is successfully connected to your pc, the ID:COM box on ODIN will turn blue and will show the COM port number)
3 click the PIT icon and choose "I9250_partition-table-0915.pit" from the ODIM folder
then click the PDA box. then click the button and choose "odin.takju.4.3.tar.md5"
4 now click on start button and it will fully unbrick you Sexy Galaxy Nexus (don't be afraid it will take some minutes)
plus you just updated to android 4.3
special thanks to samersh72, rekrapg and legija

[Q] T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II soft brick

OK I was trying to flash an unlocked kernal via ODIN last night, something went wrong and now phone is stuck on the phone--!--computer screen. I cannot get past this screen. vol+home+power doesn't do anything but loop to the same screen.
It shows ODIN MODE in red at the top of the screen, but ODIn won't recognize the phone, nor will Kies (not running at the same time). Computer makes USB connected/disconnected sound when I plug and unplug the phone.
I have tried One-Click Unbrick, did not recognize that phone was connected.
Help!!
which model of Galaxy S2 do you have?

there''s currently nothing to flash this phone
it came out only 2 days ago
DEV are still working on finding root
so, the best suggestion is to take it back to the store and get it exchanged
or wait a few more days/weeks until a flashable release becomes available to fix the mistake
I know, I was hasty and now this. Even when there something available to flash, the device isn't being recognized by ODIN. Any troubleshooting help for this?
When I managed to get my Vibrant into that mode I could pull the battery, hold volume up, put the battery in, press and release power (still holding volume up) and it'd kick back into download mode everytime. Once in download mode I could plug the USB in and a running ODIN would see it pop up. If ODIN wasn't running and USB was already plugged in things wouldn't work right.
I haven't tried ODIN on the GS2 yet (I'll wait for a root ). I did find the vibrant nearly impossible to brick though... trust me I unexpectedly tried quite hard.
You might need the newest ODIN for GS2 support, and possibly newer drivers.

I'm a bit new to this, but a custom ROM shouldn't affect your recovery mode. Are you sure you are using the correct buttons and methods to boot recovery?
Might want to make a new thread instead of necroing something from when the phone was 2 days old.
I have GT I9100 and done the same thing and got the same result . stuck at setup connection with odin

Go into device manager when is plugged in and if it says qhd-usb or something like that its a hard brick. What tipped me off was you said it makes two noises when you plug in. that's a tell tell sign your hard bricked

You should try to uninstall then reinstall driver, and try another usb port. In my experience, Odin seems to be picky, it only recognizes your phone if you plug it in the usb port that you used in the first time.

Recovery is accessed by holding both vol + and - while starting the phone. Hold them both while pressing the power button, then release the power button when it vibrates, keep holding the vol buttons till you see the recovery screen.

Bricked my Galaxy Gio

Hi XDA,
I've searched in many threads but i can't find an anwser.
I've bricked my Galaxy Gio when i flashed a custom kernel. It was the kernel in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319816
Now it does nothing, I can't boot in any mode, not in download mode, not in recovery mode...
I have android 2.3.3 Gingerbread.
Is there any way to unbrick or is my phone just an expensive decoration now.
Thanks in Advance.

If not even adb detects it, i'm pretty sure you're buggered, mate.
did you try and leave the battery out for some 10 min or more?
If adb does not detect the phone after that, then it seems to be a brick for real.
Is your phone stop at the "samsung" when you turn on your phone?
If is this,it's very easy to unbrick
One easy procedure which you might want to try with no guarantee it'll work:
-Remove the battery, microSD and SIM from the phone.
-Prepare the Odin software and your ROM on a known working system
-Connect the phone to the computer with the USB cable.
-With one hand, simultaneously hold Volume down, home and power.
-With your other hand, put the battery in the phone.
I was able to get Odin to detect an otherwise bricked phone this way. I was however unable to get further than the "setup connection" step. Maybe your outcome will be better.

Darkshado

Yes this way usually works. I've tested this way.
that worked for me to on a brick when it didnt even went on, no recovery, download mode etc, after waiting 2 weeks and trying to repair it myself I nearly throw it away, and then suddenly it went into download mode for about 1 or 2 seconds, wich told me the battery whasn't working.. so I started to charge the battery, and hoped it would boot, but it didn't.. using that method given above, I could get into download mode again, and flashes a new stock ROM. now I still have my phone, working.

[HOWTO]Restore to Stock/Recover from a Bad Flash

THIS IS FOR SGH-T989 (T-MOBILE) ONLY!
This will restore to T-Mobile 2.3.6 ULKL1.
This guide is for those who screwed up a flash, need to return their phone, are selling their phone, or just want that stock new phone feeling again.
Prerequisites:
1) ODIN
2) USB Drivers
If you need your data backed up first, backup personal data with Kies and Application Data with Titanium Backup.
Steps:
1) Download THIS file and extract it. (Password is 'sampro.pl') --Source HERE.
2) Power off your phone and remove the battery. Re-insert the battery after a few seconds.
3) Plug the USB cable into your computer, without plugging it into your phone.
4) Hold VOL UP + VOL DOWN while plugging in the USB cable to your phone. Stop holding with 'Warning' appears.
5) Press Volume UP and start ODIN (Run as Admin on Vista and 7, just to be safe)
6) Click PDA and locate the MD5 file extracted earlier.
7) Press 'Start' and be patient. It will take a few minutes because it is a large file.
8) Unplug your phone after it has completed and rebooted twice.
Now everything is 100% stock! Kernel, System, Bootloader, and Modem are stock.
If you're going to sell the phone, or just return it, I advise you to do the following:
1) Go to Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset
2) Check Format USB Storage
3) Press 'Reset Phone'
4) Press 'Erase Everything'
This will erase EVERYTHING on your phone including your SD Card (External + Internal)
If you happen to have a bootloop, perform the following:
1) Boot into recovery (Power on phone while holding VOL UP and VOL DOWN)
2) Wipe Data, Cache, and Dalvik
3) Reboot System
If this helped you save your phone, please press 'Thanks'
And if you want to, DONATE (You aren't required to, it's just HIGHLY appreciated.)
and here I was getting ready to upload stock recovery backup of my tmobile gs2
Thanks man I was waiting for someone to post one of these tutorials up. Can't wait to see it done.
Thanks looking forward to this!

The steps posted by the OP look reasonable to me. I did basically* the same thing several weeks ago using the same .rar file and it worked fine. Maybe you had a bad download . . . is the file size 324,600,505 bytes? (*My phone doesn't require pulling the battery, and I always plug the USB cable into the phone last to get into download mode.)

Again I have flashed phones with ODIN ever since the Vibrant and never had an issue I downloaded the full file had plenty of power and followed the instructions and it failed multiple times then when I pulled the battery to see if it would boot it was done from then on out no Download mode, no recovery the phone does nothing! I plug it in and it shows in Device manager QHSUB_DLOAD and from what I hear its toast. So I wish everyone luck who tries this.

that really sucks, you have the t989 right? are you sure the file downloaded completely? I was going to ask you to check the md5 for the file.. but there isn't one listed. The OP needs to be updated.
I'll add my vote of caution to restoring stock with ODIN and the SGH-T989, as I bricked mine as well. Luckily we're all still under warranty and they just replaced the main board and sent it back.
I think in my case it failed because with the Vibrant (I've flashed my Vibrant lots and lots) you always used a .pit file, and I didn't see a .pit file with the T989 stock reload I used (not this OP's file). So I hunted one down, and apparently I shouldn't have. Or maybe it just wasn't meant to be.
In any case be very careful!
Are you sure you followed this guide correctly? I did this EXACT same procedure a few days ago and it worked perfectly. Same file and everything. And the power notice is so your computer doesn't goto sleep or shut down while flashing.

[Q] [Cry] Galaxy Nexus bricked. (Dead fastboot, dead 3e recovery, only safemode

Searched all over and google yada yada yada. So i end up opening a thread here.
Hello guys/babes/kids/oldfags/ifags in disguise . I have a galaxy nexus here that will only boot into
-download mode,
- fastboot (not working at all, pc wont detect its fastboot and buttons all dead when in recovey/fastboot)
- safe mode - will boot into safe mode if i did combo buttons when attached to charger/pc
The story :
When i booted it from batt pull via only power button press, it will go into download mode straight and if i power off or factory reset in safe mode, it will reboot back into safe mode.
I cant flash anything since fastboot is broken. Ive tried Odin back to factory image of Galaxy Nexus GSM ICS and Jellybean but the prob isnt solved and fastboot is still broken. Tried repartition and bootloader update in ODIN yet still fail. And after every successful flash of repackaged stock, it will directly boot into safe mode (for both ICS and JB factory image). Why i didnt flash using fastboot? Fastboot is broken that is. Lets continue...
Other hardwares are still fine as in safe boot, ive tested all the buttons, display, calls, speaker etc. This is fastboot relate i believe as no matter what pc ive tried and all types of gnex drivers i tried. It wont even fart when connecting to pc(win7 x86). ADB works fine though when i booted into the safe mode. Im able to do adb stuffs but whenever i query it to reboot to fastboot or recovery, a dead end again. OMAPflash the tuna edition for omap4460? Tried yet still the same.
Additional facts : The phone was not unlocked and tempered by any way before the prob happened but now the bootloader is unlocked after i flashed the repackaged ODIN (chainfire posted it)
So XDA Gnex'ers, LET THE HUNT BEGIN!

First of all, bricked mean there is nothing beside a black screen. Nowaday device are hard to brick. second, One does not simply flash a gnex with odin. It's simply a big wtf that is shining through my head. 3rd, if fastboot is not working, it's because it need a special driver that i suppose you didnt install. If you can boot your phone in fastboot but can connect to it, it's because you have a broken USB port, which is not the case since you can access adb. 4th, i'm still trying to know how you achieved this. It look to me you were following some instruction and it either ended, tl;dr i will skip a few step, hope it will work which didnt or you missed electricity. Install Kies, get your phone in download and recover your phone from it. Never attempt again to play on custom rom. Man, how can someone derp a galaxy nexus, it is like the easiest device to work with.

Thx for the reply.
Some clarification here, im not the owner of this phone. Im using 9100 and im just helping a friend to recovery. Ive tried few pcs and it wont even fart when i plugged in during fastboot or recovery (i read someone that in recovery you can do some commands) but the pc(s) wont even detect a hardware being plugged in.
Plus, in fastboot, i cant press any of the hardware keys. No vol up or vol down and the power button dosent work in recovery. I only got to the 3e stock recovery via 'adb reboot recovery' during in fast mode where it booted into the relaxing chillin android with the triangle + red exclamation mark on its tummy. Pressed all buttons and it went to the 3e recovery.
At the 3e, only power button works. I cant toggle a bit using the vol keys. Note that the vol buttons work to boot the phone into fastboot and download mode and also during safe mode, all the keys works flawlessly.
So, i tried the odin method to recovery this living Gnex but with a faulty heart and kidney but it will still boot to safe mode regardless of ICS or Jellybean.
How did this happen?
I have no idea. The owner of the phone claimed that he has never rooted or tempered it in any way. Plus it was still on ICS when i first got the phone (all data was still intact but it was in safe mode at that time).
Regarding drivers, ive attempted many pcs with almost every drivers available. Shall i list em here:
- KIES
- Naked Nexus drivers
- PDA.net
- the 'official' gnex verizon driver set which is said working on GSM devices etc.
Tried those and adb+download mode works fine. Pcs detect em and tried to install the hardware n search for the drivers but not in fastboot. Its just dead.

does it try to create an error log? or are you able to pull bug report?
it boots into download mode and safemode so, there's hope.

Adb works fine so im able to pull anything when its booted. Im not sure if we can pull anything in download mode. Adb/fastboot didnt work in download mode. Am i correct? Mind to share some light here on this. And in fastboot, none. No vol keys to operate and the 4-5 pc ive tried wont even fart a sound or hint anything saying a hardware connected. Its like its a dead circuit plugged only in fastboot.
This is quite a super rare case here. Most of the dead gnex i found on the next and also in XDA has a working fastboot that only needs drivers to make it working but on this unit, even the vol keys is dead. Awkwarddddd

Great to know you are not the one who did that . So if i understand correctly, you say download mode work ? If yes, flash another stock rom from chainfire using odin. No one wan't to flash with odin, but if fastboot is not working, you shall at least try it. Also, when you are putting the phone in download mode and connecting it to kies, it should detect it has to be restored. i would say the main reason for it to not work is that android debugging is not ticked in developer options. But that would be strange that adb work on safe mode. There is probably a way to that with adb but you will have to google it. Tell your friend to follow instruction next time. And ffs, do not use odin ! (Little idea too, try to get in fastboot not connected on PC and wait a few minutes then see if you can move with the volume button, then try to connect it on pc)

Yes i have already did that few times. Few times of ICS factory image and few with JB. All are repacked version provided by chainfire. Its the full package not the software only with stripped bootloader n recovery. Its still the same

did you try flashing google's factory image in odin??
my fastboot once was unresponsive, but rebooting into it fixed it
from safemode, if you adb reboot bootloader it is unresponsive?

only suggestion left is to just boot into fastboot, leave it alone for awhile (5-10 mins), then try and plug it in and mess with it.
Try doing the whole driver thing mentioned above but instead of flashing a Google image just do the boot loader portion, what settings are you using to flash in Odin?

adb does not work in download mode/bootloader. adb only works when adbd (adb service) is started, and that happens in android boot process. it means android debug bridge.

Sorry for the long delay to anyone waiting for the answer/status.
Jtag cant fix it. Returned the device to a friend. Prolly a mobo replacement is the solution but its damn pricy here in Malaysia. It costs 80% of the price to get a new Gnex.
Hell yeah and thx to everyone supporting this.

[Q] [Help] How to fix SGT 3 10.1 (WiFi) not turning on

Hey guys, My Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 (Wifi) Won't turn on anymore. Don't even charge! My brother was playing minecraft until my Tablet's life reach 0% (Died). Then I charged it, It's still charging after 30 mins of charging I turned it on then the SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB 3 logo appear (Start-Up) but it fails like it shutted down. I tried charging it again but it wont charge anymore nor turn on, I'm not using any ROM but i rooted my SGT 3 10.1
Anyone knows how to fix this? Please help asap!
Try different charger, usb cable, leave it for a while then try charging it, plug it into computer usb port or plug out sd card then try

Okay, Gonna try those now and hope something will fixed this. I'll reply if it works or not soon
Edit :
Be right back in 2 hours to check everything.
Edit Again :
My Tablet is fixed now, Thanks dude.
What I did is stopped charging for 10 minutes then i charged it using PC/Laptop then waited 1 hour, then charge it on normal then it started to charge and turned on. but again, stuck on SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB 3 logo then shut down....
None of those works. Any other idea?
I would do the process over again. But do not start the tablet. See if you can get into recovery mode (Vol+ / Power) or download mode (Vol- / Power). If that is successful then leave it there for awhile. Power off and try again. If good, then I would reload the OEM Rom or a backup that you may have. But I would not try powering the unit again. There might be a corrupt file caused by the initial improper shutdown.
It got even Worse, I tried to do the process again but it DOESNT turn on or Charge anymore. I waited 1 hour then charge, still, charge 2 hours, still. What to do now? Theres no helper here on our village except me so please help me
If your device is not charging then I wonder if it is the charger and not the device. I don't think the battery could go bad that fast. I could be wrong, but I don't think. So that leads me to believe that your charger possibly is not working like Ripshock mentioned.
Is the charger the OEM that came with the Tablet?
If not, can it produce 5vdc @ 2 amps?
What about the USB cable, is it OEM that came with the Tablet?
If not, is it wired correctly and can it handle 2 amps?
Regardless of how you answered the questions, I would seek another source for charging. I don't think the PC will charge. I don't believe the USP ports are setup to handle that much current. I could be wrong, but again, you might seek out another source for charging.
UPC won't charge tab. It has to be plugged into an eletrical outlet

As I suspected, but I thought I read somewhere that the PC can be setup to do just that on the USB port. Key phrase is "thought I read".
Nah. For some reason the tablet can't charge and transmit data through the cable at the same time unlike our phones and other devices. Personally i think it's stupid that it won't charge but hey that's how they were made lol. I use a very good cable too.

Well, I have been to this situation more than once (Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, which are both family tablets). Do a "force boot"
Steps:
1.) Leave it there for, like, 4 hours or while it is charging do step 2.
2.) Now, press the power, volume up, volume down and home button together, until the it boots up completely
3.) Charge the tablet again..
Easy as that.. If that does not work, remove the battery inside (You need to have proper tools and a hand that can search youtube)
or, even if that does not work, your brother may have screwed something up (Either by dirty flashing another ROM or by doing some dangerous system modifications).. Your last hope is the repair shop (If you have warranty, send it back to a SAMSUNG REPAIR SHOP and act dumb, they will fix it for you, free of charge.)
I am not 100% sure here, but I don't think pressing the home key while using the power and vol keys will do anything. I believe that to be a process found on some of the other Samsung devices, but not the P5210. I personally have not tried it and I really don't want too knowing right now that my machine is working just fine. Would hate to do something that I cannot reverse.

Yep, I did those steps. and it's turning on now. but i cant start it up. When I open it, it goes to TWRP mode. This happens when I wipe all my phone cache, dalvik, etc (everything) then when i restarted the system it says "no OS installed, still continue?" I choose yes, then it said "your tablet's root could be corrupted, want to install a fresh new one?" I choose yes then my tablet restarts but on TWRP again, I install a rom named Pimpdroid then restarted the tablet, still the same (Always go to TWRP mode even i'm not press power+up volume+home bottom together) Just the power button but it goes to TWRP mode, i tried installing other roms but its still the same. If you can't understand properly due to my poor english. I can make a video on it if u r willing to help me. I really need help guys since theres no repair shop here its just an island!
Does anyone experienced this problem already? or does anyone knows how to fix this problem? Help me please

When it asked to reinstall the root, say NO. Then power off the unit. Do not try and run the tab at this time. There is no OS. Start the tab in download mode. Connect to PC and start ODIN. Load the OEM Rom. This is the only way to get things back to normal unless you have saved a backup. If you have a back up, then start the tab in recovery mode (TWRP/CWM) and restore from backup.
I would recommend NOT installing Pimpdroid or any other rom until you have a fully operational tablet again. Best to always start from a fresh OEM Rom.
What is OEM Rom? and where can I download it?
OEM = Original Equipment Manufacture
OEM Rom is the firmware that was developed by Samsung and is the only official Rom for your device. All the other roms that are developed here are done so with caveats placed on them. Mainly that the roms can damage your device or brick it (cause it to fail completely).
Original firmware (OEM Rom) can be found here. In the search window just enter the model number of the device you have. In this case that would be P5210. It will take several hours to download the rom as it is huge, on the order of 1.9GB. Just be patient. It is always a good idea to have the OEM Rom safely tucked away on you computer for situations like this.

It's just like a rom? after downloading ill just install it like other roms?
and, Which country firmware should I download? There are tons of Country but the same rom
You will download the version for your country. I have no information about your whereabout. So you will have to find the rom for your country or region of the world.
You will need to extract the MD5 file from the zip and place it on your computer. Once extracted, you will open ODIN and load the MD5 file into the PDA slot and upload it to your device. Don't worry about the SS_DLL file. It will take some time to load into ODIN and then some time to load into your device. Do not stop the upload or interrupt. Once loaded, you will then restart your device and configure it like it was brand new out of the box.
The standard recovery will be loaded also. If you desire to load TWRP or CWM, you can if you want. You can also root the device. But I would not recommend loading any of the other roms until you get a better understand of what that rom does and how to load it. There are many posts on XDA that tell you how to load an OEM (stock) Rom. Just do a search for them. No need to be redundant here.
Just be careful.

Well, This is pretty weird. There's no Philippines (Which is my country) OEM rom and on the Tablet, it wont go to Recovery mode or Download mode. because when I charge my tablet it automatically opens then go to TWRP. When i turned it off it goes to normal charging. Then when I try to open it using this (Power button+volume up+ Home) it still goes to TWRP mode. How to fix this?
