[HOWTO] Change from Yakju** to Yakju - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

After going from one thread to the other i was able to do it myself so I've decided to put it all under 1 thread... Unzip all the files you download
WARNING!!!! I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE TO WHATEVER HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE!!!
Step ONE :
Download the USB driver and firmware files to Windows. ( USB DRIVERS) ( FIRMWARE)
Run USB driver app in Windows, reboot Windows.
Run firmware app in Windows.
Put phone in download mode (power off, volume down + power on, plug USB cable in)
in firmware app, click start!
And you're done!
You're now yakju with latest Google ITL41F.
For those who are having issues with the "R" icon for roaming on Fido, rogers,Wind,Mobilicity etc etc .. follow the instructions below
You will need to unlock your bootloader and the following files:
1: FASTBOOT
2: UGLK1 RADIO
Unlock Galaxy Nexus Bootloader
Below’s a step by step guide for folks who’re not much familiar with fastboot and stuff like that. Here you go:
Put your phone in fastboot mode:
Switch off your phone
Hold the Volume Up Key + Volume Down Key and then press the Power button.
You’ll now see a Android robot. And text below it would read “FASTBOOT MODE” in red.
Extract the Fastboot.zip file on your PC
Now open the Fastboot folder ─ hold Shift key and Right click at any empty space inside the folder, and select “Open command window here“
Now connect your phone to your PC using USB cable, and then type fastboot devices in the command prompt to make sure your device is recognized.
And now to unlock the bootloader, type this in the command prompt:
fastboot oem unlock
Accept the request on your phone by selecting Yes using the Volume button and then press the Power button to confirm. (Keep CMW opened as you'll need it for people with the roaming issues)
Next you will want to "Flash" the UGLK1 Radio. To do so follow the instructions below:
In CMW after you have unlocked your bootloader, Type:
fastboot flash radio <radio-maguro-i9250ugkl1.img> without the "<>"
Then
fastboot oem lock (to relock your bootloader)
Enjoy your new Galaxy Nexus updated by Google!

Will rooting/unlocking the bootloader void the warranty? Any way around this?

Technically yes, but you can always relock and flash back to the stock images, effectively returning it to out of the box stock.

Nice how to, thank you!

does this tutorial apply to YAKJUSC too? mine is 4.0.1..
thanks

Yes, the porting process is the same.

Big thanks. I used the procedure last night successfully. Also got update 4.0.2 after few minutes. I had little issues with bluetooth while connecting to my BlueAnt 4S. But it seems to be working fine now.
PS: Forgot to mention that battery life has improved considerably after this flashing.

EDIT: I have rebooted my phone, and restarted all over. I worked

I am not exprt but looks like your phone drivers ste not loading properly. I had same issue but then I waited for the drivers to load on my pc and then pressed start button again and it stsrted working .
I would suggest that you conect your first snd let windows load drivers. When you drivers are loaded then follow the procedure .

Broken powerbutton, need to unroot and re-lock

Hey all,
My power button stopped working and I, thinking it was a software issue, pulled the battery and found out I could not restart. I need to get into recovery or at least turn on the phone to unroot and relock it before heading to verizon.
So far I have had no luck turning the phone back on. I'm sure there is a way to do this... any help is greatly appreciated.
You can use a jig to go into the download mode
And flash a rom
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Is the jig the only option? I don't currently have a jig so if that's the only thing I can do I will need to order one ASAP so I can get this thing working.

Are you talking about in command prompt? I tried

The issue is that the phone is in no way broken other than the power button. I'll have to take it in and hope for the best if I can't figure something out, but I'd really like the peace of mind knowing that all of my files and data aren't stuck on it (I'd also like to get my lastest nandroid or do another one).
I saw a timing trick on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1731128 that is supposed to allow the device to boot, but I haven't gotten it to work yet.
Google wugfresh nexus root toolkit
It has a simple one click fix for flashing stock and unrooting when the device can't boot up
Or you can use something like glados cp to relock the boot loader as your rooted then delete the superuser apk in system app

I've gotten the phone into download mode using a jig, but it still doesn't seem to be recognized by the computer. Is this an issue of re-installing the Samsung drivers/adb or a limitation of download mode? Do I need to use odin?

Are you sure you have ADB configured properly for the device to be picked up via command line? USB debugging would have to of been turned on for ADB commands..
I'm almost positive USB debugging is on, especially since I think it's a default option in kang. I can get into download mode but not anything else. At this point I think I'm going to have to use ODIN and lose my data. Stupid power button...
Try removing the battery then tapping the metal battery pins against the phone pins repeatedly.
A friend of mine used to have to do this to get his nexus one to boot.. it can be a bit temperamental but does work.

Make sure you have the correct drivers installed. From download mode you will have to use Odin.
Note: since the device won't actually boot into Android, you don't have to worry about USB Debugging.
Note x2: the only driver that would let my device be recognized was the PDA Net driver, you may want to give it a try.

Well guys, thanks for all the suggestions. In the end I could get nothing to work other than Download mode with a jig and Odin to restore to stock. I lost everything on the phone, including my nandroid backups (should have copied them over more recently ...), but was able to re-lock the bootloader with nexus root toolkit after using Odin to flash the stock rom. ]
Moral of the story, if you lose your power button, you are screwed.

Unfortunately you can't use adb to turn on a powered off device; not saying that wouldn't be awesome.

Xperia S Fastboot problem

So I was about to root my Xperia S and started reading a guide, it said that I would need to load some files into the phone using fastboot. After a while I figured out how to fastboot and managed to get the popup on my computer once, however, I didn't install it that time and now when I try to fastboot again I get the blue LED on my phone, my computer makes some noises indicating that something unusual have been conected, nothing happens and the phone shows the Sony logo.
Does anybody know how to fix the problem and get the popup on the computer to re apear.
I run a 64 bit windows 7 home premium.
Thanks.

So for Unlocking Bootloader You have to use fastboot mode.. ok
and after that, for rooting it should be done using flashtool in fastboot mode..
so here is the thing.. Download The Flashtool first And After extracting the files You'll Find a Folder Named Drivers.. first Install The Fastboot Drivers Even To Unlock The Bootloader..

Hello I have an Xperia S, with bootloader locked and recently installed a ROOM in order to get the 6.A.1.2.55 with root.
Installed from a ZIP from recovery mode following this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2009672
Now when I try to do step 7 (flash kernel and Baseband) Using Flashtool, Im unable to enter to the mode; when the windows prompts me, I turn off the phone, press and hold Vol up connect the USB but nothing happens, only the Sony Logo and then the icon of charging battery, I also tried to turn off the phone while holding Power button + Vol up (at the same time) and get the 3 vibrations, but the same result when I connect, the logo and the charging animations/icon..( no LED of any color or anything)
Im using the latest Flashtool version (0.9.9.0) with the drivers intalled (even though Windows security constantly pestered me about not being able to identify the source and signture) on Windows 7 64 bits..
Thank you..

[SOLVED]Nexus brick. OMAP Flash Tutorial in post 10

Hello guys, my nexus died
I had some problems with a rom so i decided to restore a previous backup(bigxies JB rom) which was working when i backed it up ofc.
Did the backup and hit reboot in cwm, nothing.
wont turn on wont get into fastboot no download mode nothing. when i plug in a charger no charge animation, nothing.
i tried flashing a stock rom with the nexus toolkit but it keeps saying waiting for adb. nothing happens.
windows doesnt recognize it either when i plug it in my pc..
any ideas? it seems that i am screwed
you have to install the correct drivers first, if you can get into fastboot then you can return to back stock

Ill search omap flash, thx
when i connect my phone to the pc it shows up as omap4440 in device manager, then it disconnects and reconnects every 2 seconds..
I tried a omapflash program i found but it keeps saying waiting for phone to connect
quick update, managed to install the omap4440 drivers and reflashed my OMAP 4440, now i can get into download mode
good news guys, my phone works again, i am very happy.
thx for the omap flash tip!!
For people that might encounter the same.
download https://rapidshare.com/files/1168981...Flash_tuna.zip and unpack the zip on desktop or w/e.
now when your omap4440 is recognized by device manager quickly double click and install drivers(you have about 2 seconds) select search drivers on pc and select desktop(drivers are in the above download.
When thr drivers are installed run the *.bat file in the download
after that u can get into download mode and odin flash a stock rom.

[Q] Anyone else experiencing this kind of bootloop?

Hey
I know this is a greatly discussed topic but I have been through countless threads and tried everything so please bear with me! Long story short, my phone is in a massive rut at the moment and nothing seems to get it out of bootloop (tried fastboot, odin etc; yes I'm not an expert at all but I'm not exactly a noob). Odin is/was my last hope and for some reason Windows XP seems to keep crashing it the minute I hit start. I read through numerous posts on the Galaxy Nexus forum and have also tried numerous other methods including trying to go back to stock via fastboot and toolkits, trying to flash .img files individually etc etc etc and I basically need all the help I can get if someone wouldn't mind? The phone does turn on to fastboot and is detected on toolkits and drivers are fine.
For those who need the info its a i9250 GSM maguro (UK version i.e. without google wallet) running JB 4.1.1. I did try to flash maguro ICS 4.0.4 and when I go into fastboot, the bootloader version has changed to PRIMELA03 whereas I'm sure JB isn't that but I may be wrong! The phone crashed 2 nights ago and ever since then it gets stuck in bootloop when switched on, the images are noisy and fuzzy as if the phone has some kind of virus and nothing flashes on it! Fastboot just crashes requiring a battery removal all the time. Odin crashes too so I cannot flash any other firmware. The phone is not rooted but the bootloader is unlocked and I have no SD card (obviously).
Sorry if I have posted in the wrong thread or done anything I shouldn't have -_- I just need help so someone PLEASE guide me in the right direction!
Thank you in advance!!
Update: I just tried to flash JB back over the bootloader version and it changed from PRIMELA03 to PRIMELC03 so the bootloader version does change however nothing else seems to flash!
Update 2: Think i finally managed to mess my phone up. Got the yellow exclamation mark triangle between a phone and pc -__- anyone have any insight on how to go around this? Everything I have read up has more or less got to do with all other variants of Gnex other than GSM!

Tried this last night, even now, OMAP works when the phone is connected and runs the .bat file perfectly however it has NO effect on the phone, as soon as I try to boot it just comes up with the > phone!PC < screen, however ODIN does detect the phone so I am convinced it isn't a full brick! Odin however doesn't go through the process of flashing it just says FAIL in red on top once I start the process because I cannot get the phone into download mode or fastboot.

Well I didn't use the conventional way; I had a the Wugs nexus toolkit (Yes I know xda doesn't take kindly to toolkits but I only use it to launch the ADB command prompt cos I don't really know how to use the SDK toolkit method) from which I launched the command prompt and used fastboot commands through that to try flash .img files to the phone. Unfortunately it all failed even when I could access fastboot. Now Odin doesn't let me flash anything either; It just says failed.
Sorry if this doesn't answer your question but that's how I went about doing the whole fastboot bit If you mean it crashes when you open cmd maybe try launch cmd through Wugs?

Back to Stock Attempt

Heya, got an issue with a Galaxy Nexus phone. Phone does not seem to get any reception, I've attempted to add the Rogers network multiple times, and still either it says error or there is no reception at all. It is an unlocked phone, as the lock image shown upon restarting is unlocked, and as indicated in fastboot mode.
I figured it is the radio that is messed up. So I attempted to return to stock on my friend's phone. However, USB cable does not function properly, as I have attempted fastboot multiple times such as "fastboot devices" with the proper drivers installed etc. Using AirDroid to move the files, I've entered recovery mode only for it to load to the red triangle and then it restarts.
Also have repeated the steps after factory resetting. I am out of ideas guys, hoping maybe someone can provide some insight. Greatly appreciate it!!
Galaxy Nexus is the GSM one, not LTE. Thanks again.

The red triangle is the stock recovery.
Having ADB working does not mean fastboot will work as well, they require different drivers, check in Device Manager for something like Android 1.0 or Android, then update drivers for it. There is a nice guide in this section by Jubakuba.

Will look into the guide.
The thing is, with the phone plugged into any computer, it doesn't show up at all on the device manager, in order for me to update the driver.
Use the gnexus toolkit

I don't use the toolkit in general, but it's probably the easiest way to get the proper drivers installed.

Sorry, but if you think that, then you're holding it wrong.

The drivers are a pain the the arse.
Actually, i did that for my N7, install the drivers and the toolkit never saw the light of the day anymore.
Btw regarding the naked drivers, plug the phone in > device manager > update drivers > then direct to the naked drivers folder right?
See the problem is I've updated the drivers and everything.
Whether in Odin, I don't see the phone pop up when I plug it in.
And no IMEI shows when I use a command prompt and attempted fastboot devices.
I'm just going to tell my friend to return it to Bell.
Thanks guys.
