yes of course 512 mb a2sd and 32 mb Swap Size created with recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.0.2-bravo
any help please?? what should i do? everything working (except roms)
Firstly you should connect it to the PC when its in recovery, and open the command prompt then run "adb logcat" as soon as you click reboot. It might say, "-waiting for device-" but just wait try and see what the problem is... if you dont know much about it, then just save the logcat and post it here.
otherwise:
you are doing a full wipe with each rom change?
have you tried re-partitioning the SD card BY DELETING THE FAT32 PARTITION AS WELL - corrupt partition could cause problems.
or you could try using a different ROM If I have problems I always try, a full wipe, format sd card / ext/ system / data then start installing Ginger Villian as in my experience I found it's extremely stable and reliable.
im using mildwild and iv NO swap size and my phone works fine. try different recovery (4ext) coz CWM iv heard sometimes makes bad partitions which also could be the problem

already re-partitioning my SD-card
Ginger Villian is a perfect rom, but my problem is , roms not starting
I'm no dev but there are lots of worrying things in your logcat. failed mounting, no zipalign, no bootanimation, lots of bad permissions, etc etc.
I suspect that the install is not correctly performed. Some of the problems in the log just wouldn't happen if the install worked (like unable to locate bootanimation)
so heres a few things to try to cover all the bases:
do a fix permissions and reboot - its worth a shot
re-partition WITH GPARTED or 4EXT recovery. do not use CWM. as already stated it can cause problems. ensure you delete the fat partition too.
Download a ROM and check the the md5, I suggested GV for a reason

lool , i'm going buring this desire, oky i try GPARTED and fix permissions now
From the looks of it u r using stock hboot.if u r using mildwild I think ext partition of sd card is not immediately needed.I think recovery is the problem.change the recovery to 4ext and try.install the .img from adv and I think u will ne ok.

Hello everyone,
I have rooted my Desire a long time ago, now I want to try out a few custom ROMs. However, I think I made a few mistakes because Data2SD doesn't work for me.
Can i just start off new ? For example just running Unrevoked³ again ?
If yes : Why doesn't Unrevoked³ work ? It just says "Error: failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?". Currently I have installed Android 2.3.3 SuperNova ROM. My H-BOOT version is "HBOOT-0.75.0000". I think my Display is SLCD.
Thanks in advance !
Cheers Limette =)
if you are already rooted, this is what unrevoked should show.
anyway, your root was succesful, and it has got nothing to do with Data2SD.
if for some reason you think it might not work, make sure you have EXT partition AFTER fat32 one. and make sure it works ok, Gparted for example.
other than that you should provide more info, like what you did with your sdcard (how did you partition it, what layout etc.) and why do you think it is not working.
Thanks for your reply.
Actually I did partition the SD card how the tutorial told me to.
1st partition = ~14GB FAT32
2nd partition = 1GB EXT4
Then I installed the custom ROM and booted once. Then i went into Recovery mode and installed Data2SD installer. Everytihng should be ok so far, but the Phone wont boot after that, even tho the blue LED flashes. So I thought starting off new would be a good idea ^^.
So Umm, now I'm not quite sure what to do :O
Thanks in advance.
Cheers Limette.
well, a good thing to try now is installing some other ROM (possibly one with DATA2XXX already included) and checking if this works
also, what rom are you trying to flash
and have you used any aligment.zip flashable that were supposed to do some cool stuff with your ext ?
I only tried this ROM so far : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045824
Here is what I did :
1. Partition my SD card ( 14GB FAT32 primary, 1GB EXT4 primary)
2. Recovery mode -> install zip from SD card -> new radio version
3. Reboot
4. Recovery mode -> install zip from SD card -> SuperNova ROM
5. Reboot
6. Recovery mode -> install zip from SD card -> Data2SD installer
7. Reboot (system is stuck here)
If I remove the SD card the SD card the system will boot and if I dont even install Data2SD system will also boot. It just wont boot if Install Data2SD. I did nothing more.
However, I just tried to install InsertCoin CM7 but that won't even start at all. Thats pretty much the reason why I'm trying to redo all of my first steps. Or do you think my problem is somewhere else?
please let me know if you need more information and thanks for your help so far
Cheers Limette
insertcoin CM7 version would require you to be s-off and running custom hboot (partition layout in phone) so that is why it is not booting up.
try insertcoin A2SD+ STOCK HBOOT, if it works, then your EXT is fine, if not then i suggest you double check it.

Hboot 0.75 means you are still s-on so InsertCoin cm7 will never work for you.
I suggest you to soff (read some tutorial first) and flash cm7 hboot.
Then u will be able to flash IC cm7. With that version u will not need those weird data2something scripts
Thanks for the replies !
I just tried the InsertCoin A2SD v20 ROM its booting but its not working correctly. I get crash messages like every 3 seconds
"The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
I might try to S-OFF my phone after i read the tutorial. But until then, do you guys know what I did wrong ?
Cheers Limette
Few people with hboot below 0.93 experienced some problems with installing gb roms.
1. What is your recovery? AmonRa or CWM and what version?
2. Would you consider using Froyo rom? They are extremely optimized and stable, while gb still have some glitches.
3. You can of course s-off, but i'd check/repartition sd card first. Stick with ext3 partition for now, a bit more support for it if you get mad with flashing different roms

1. CWM v2.5.0.1
2. I used a Froyo ROM for like 9 months now ^^ So I want to try Gingerbread out ^^
3. I'll try to repartition my SD card with Ext3 , if that won't help I'll try to S-OFF my Phone.
I'll let you know if it worked.

I managed to Fix the Error message "The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". I accidentally forgot to wipe all data before flashing :$
Thanks for all the help =)
you wrote you have clockworkmod recovery 2.5.0.1 ? you sure it is not 2.5.0.7 ?
anyways, both of them are really old, and this can cause bootloops when new updater script is used in a flashable.zip file
since you are S-ON, you cant premanently flash new recovery, but you can fake-flash which is putting clockworkmod_3.0.2.8.zip file on sdcard, and then flashing it while in 2.5.0.7(or .1) and this will boot up the newest version (but you have to do this everytime you enter recovery)
then you can try flashing both ROM you chose and the DATA2SD installer with 3.0.2.8, this might fix it

So a while back I rooted my desire, and played about with a few roms, then stuck with cyanogen for quite a while. This is the order of a few actions I took which I think may be where the problem occurred.
So from being rooted with cyanogen 7:
I decided to s-off the phone with alpharev
I then put a new splash screen on
Then decided I wanted a new sd card (I was told by a mate it will just go straight in no problems) So I bought an 8gb card stuck it in put my backed up data on the card and booted, all was fine.
I then thought about trying a few new roms that had appeared, and I tried flashing one only for the phone to hang forever on the splash screen.
I've been trying a few things to try to resolve it, stabbing in the dark, such as running unrevoked3 (maybe to root again, only for it to say the firmware is too new) I made my new sd card a gold card, like I did with the original.
None of these helped. has anyone any ideas or know how to sort this out???
What recovery do you have? Which ROM did hang?
Did you do a full wipe?
Does the rom you want to instal require a ext partition?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
I wiped the cache, and dalvik cache, even did a factory reset in recovery. Im using clockwork recovery.
I tried InsertCoin_GB_Sense2.1_CM7_v20 and Reflex_S_2.0_LITE_GingerBread_Sense-2.1_GRI40_A2SD+
Maybe these need an ext partition? Would that be it? I'm not sure how to set that up yet.
yes those roms need ext partition, don't know about reflex bu have insertcoin myself, 1GB ext4.
1.go to recovery
2.press on partition sd,choose the size, then after it's finished convert it to ext3 in partition sd again below the option of making one, you can make ext4, but thats up to you. ext3 is needed..
Don't forget to backup your sd, you'll lose everything on it
The ROM you mentioned is an a2sd ROM. So yes, you'll need to partition your SD card if you want to use a a2sd rom.

I can't find an option in my clockwork to partition the sd. Just been searching a bit and seen it can be done through rom manager, that rebooted the phone and left me with the ! in a triangle and the small droid on the screen and when I press the power button it is in recovery it says installation aborted. Is there a guide for the Desire? I can't seem to find one....
Sorry found a guide on here. Will try to do it now.
Ok so I am really struggling to get anywhere with a few different guides to partition the card. Through rom manager it also says signature failed, although I have tried toggling the permissions. Major

Steveoh like i told, do it from recovery(easiest), when you rooted you were able to change the recovery(unrEVOked), do so and change it to Ra recovery
Still if you don't want to this program can help youhttp://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html
Download this and do it from you pc, although it's very easy to do from recovery, takes 5,6 minutes mostly waiting..
I have created a partition with the program you recommenced. How will I know that it is ext 3? And that my phone will use it?
found it!
Hi,
I have problem...
I tried to install Cool3D RunnyMede v5 ROM,which needs EXT4, but I have made mistake and forgot to create ext4 partition and installed ROM - so it couldnt start...
After powering phone ON it stops at HTC logo - i need to pull out battery.
After that I can go to HBOOT and to recovery.
I tried to wipe cahce, factory reset -nothing hepled - it still stucks at htc logo
I would like to ask you,if it is posible to create ext4 partition in this state of phone- because i cant get to my SD card (windows dont recognize storage),and I cant power phone to home screen...
Is it posiible to fix this problem (to make phone working) or create EXT4 partition from CMW(I have Revolutionary CWM 4.0) or from computer (ADB or something,im not expert in this stuff, im just guide follow monkey)...
I appreciate your help,im desperate
Thank you

Go to Gparted site http://gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php Download and burn it to CD or DVD. You will need an SD card adapter, when Gparted is on CD boot PC from CD and re-partition your card. You will need to enter BIOS if PC dont already start from dik and set it has first boot.
Before partition remember Backup data if you can.
or you could use ext4 recovery from the development thread - flash via fastboot. plenty of guides for that. I suggest you avoid the touch recovery for now as its not too stable (too large - bad blocks could cause brick...)
Thank you,
I have solved the problem - I found in recovery something like mount storage, and then i could acces to SD card, and then i flasthed EXT4 recovery...
Throught ext4 recovery i created EXT4 partition (it fprmated my sd card).
But it didnt solved the problem, maybe it was ROM problem, because I installed then Insertcoin, and it worked...
But thanks for answers anyway...

did you use the correct version for your hboot - as in the cm7r2 version if you have that hboot or stock hboot version.... also I'd suggest an sdext partition of at least 1024 (i like 2048 personally but i have a 16gb class 6 sdcard) for all sense 3.0/3.5 ROMs
I suggest you go and look at the "requirements" of the ROM you were trying to install, and ensure you have done a full wipe, and do not restore anything until after a couple of boots...
Basically we all know that the Desire has a useless ammount of memory. I'm running ICS one of the first beta versions, anyway I've got no memory, I've tried to partition the sd card to ext 4 but it rejects it so I'm looking for someone to point me to the next step with some instructions mainly if I need to revert back to gingerbread, how would I do that?
Thanks Dave

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
How are you trying to partion SD card? Most reliable methods seem to be with 4ext or Gpart.
I've used gparted via ubuntu, but it for some reason doesn't like that, I'm thinking its rom related as it worked on a GB rom but since going over to ICS it doesn't work..
what do you mean 'rejects it'
do you mean that your entire SD card is not being read by the ROM and/or windows ?
You can use one of clockwork recovery's advanced menus to format the drive for you to a size of your choice 512 or 1024 or whatever.. I can't remember if it gave options for ext3 and 4 but you can def. get ext 4 out of it. the rest should be left as fat32.. works like a charm

The way I did it was via the CWM.
Before you do this, make sure that there are no apps stored on the sdcard (because your about to wipe it) - i.e. go through each app (unless you have Titanium Backup, which makes this easier).
Boot into recovery, in the advanced section, select partition sdcard, then select a 512Mb partition (wouldn't go higher - you get issues), select 0 for the swap partition.
Then boot up and follow the instructions about a2sd on this page:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355660
It all worked fine for me (and I have loads of space now!)
What version of CWM did you use?
hmmmm, are you using beta 0.3.6?
I mean, there are some instructions for a2sd:
To activate the built in a2sd:
open terminal and run these commands:
su
a2sd install
To move dalvik cache do:
a2sd cachesd
And try with different sd card....
I'm on 0.3.6 i followed the methods of using the CWM to partition it, when i said rejects it i meant that after using gparted android claims it is corrupted and nees to be format. Anyway so after running the terminal commands all fine but i cannot use the phone at all, contacts process crashes and thats followed by "android.process.accore has stopped." Any suggestions? I figured it might be a bad flash so re-flashed it but that doesnt seem to help.
I have not yet partitioned my sd card, I am still sorting things out. I also have low mem error. I believe the bulk of the problem, is the sorting of things. Others have had success with certain configurations of CWM, Droid builds, ext3 or ext4, and cell phone carriers.
After reading like you have, I have seen that CWM partitions have been unsuccessful until after version 2. I am currently running a US Cellular Droid 2.2, Rooted, CWM v4.0.0.2. Sorry for the lack of help yet. I will keep updating as I work through this.
I think best bet for me is to go back to gingerbread and go back to ICS after that and see where I am.
ICS for Desire is too many bug.
Try to erase cash and restart phone
These are the steps you have to do:
1. S-off
2. Get the appropriate partition for the system (see the Alpharev instrutions);you need Bravo Stock or Bravo Data++(I used the last one);
3. with Geparted from Linux(Ubuntu) live cd, partition SD card FAT32 and at least 1,5Gb 4Ext, both as primary partition;
4. power-off your Desire;
5. press Vol. down and Power;
6. go in Recovery;
7. wipe data/factory reset
8. wipe cache partition
9. mounts and storage --> format boot, cache, data, system, sd-ext
10. advanced --> wipe dalvik cache, wipe battery stats
11. install clean rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1403113 without trying to get m2sd to work;
12. Setup the Google stuff;
Goodluck!
If you want to have ICS on your Desire, try Chromium v1.5 .

Hi Guys
I have a relly rare problem with my phone. The main problem is that i can't charge it. When I put it on the charger for probbably 10 sec. is charging (orange indicator) but then start blinking orange/green.
I tried also connect to PC, result is the same.
I thought that the problem will be in battery, but today at work I tried college battery and the problem is still the sme.
The funniest thing is, that I can turn - on my phone, get into boot-loader etc, but when i try to turn it on, it starts loading everything work's fine, but just begore the system is loaded (i can see the status bar, loading sd card), the phone shut down.
I really don't know what to do. I tried hard reset, restore backup from original HTC OS, turn on with/without sd card .... i think that everything
Could you help me somehow ?
Thanks
PS: sorry for my english
My boot loader is HBOOT-6-01.1002
RADIO-3.35.20.10
and i'm using Cyanogen Mod 7.03
try without the sdcard! sounds like something may be corrupt on it. if it all works fine without the card then i think a format is necessary ...... this will delete all sdcard data so make a backup 1st then start transfering needed things back slowly, testing a reboot on each new folder etc transfered. or run a disk check of sdcard on pc.
you could also try a fresh flash of the rom too.

Alright, looks familiar btw (exactly like mine lol) - did you have an ext partition? If not: any apps on sd? You said that you flashed the ROM again - did you format or wipe the system partition before? (If you run into ROM related probs most of the time it won't help just to flash the ROM over because the problems might resist).

Yes, i moved many apps on sd-card (i probbably don't have any ext partition, but not sure)
After new flash (if it mean's instaling new from from sd card) i used wipe dalvik cache, but after installation, not before.
So could you tell mr kind of step by step introductions what should I do, because i'm not really good in this stuff :-/
Thanks
Try flashing the rom again but with full wipes, not just dalvik cache. But also cache, data & system. After you do the wipes reflash your rom (and Gapps if needed). This will delete all your apps, SMSs and contacts though...

So i wiped data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache, then installed cyanogen mod 7.2.0, but the problem still persists.
Now i think the problem will be somewhere with the apps on sd-card, because before the phone shut down, i can see in status bar text "preparing sd card" ....
Is there anything else i can do ?
and i didn't try flashing gapps, because i dont know what to do ? ... i need to download some zip and install it from sd ? or ?
Thanks

yes: remove those apps (you could do a backup with titanium backup) and try again. You did mention that earlier - a full wipe seems pretty useless if you leave parts that interact on a FAT32 partition... (or do you use an ext partition?).
If you start fresh without any apps on sd you could at least exclude this from the list of possible causes
To make this clear: from my experience there rarely will be one single easy action you could do to solve a persistant problem. Therefore most of the time it helps to follow all the steps of those procedures very careful, systematic and throw lazyness over board
So I'd do a full wipe/new install following this procedure:
format /system, /data
wipe /dalvik-cache, /cache
wipe all/factory reset
flash ROM
flash gapps
reboot without sdcard first (just to make sure)
and i didn't try flashing gapps, because i dont know what to do ? ... i need to download some zip and install it from sd ? or ?

You'll need the correct gapps for your Android version and flash it right after flashing the ROM (has to be done as gapps are freely available by Google but aren't allowed to include into custom ROMs due to licences)
Gapps could be found here: http://goo.im/gapps
So i will try full / wipe (new installation)
I just don't know what you mean by "format /system, /data" and how to do it ... is it somewhere in recovery mode ? or there is any app for it ?
"(or do you use an ext partition?)" - not sure I created somthing probabbly like that, because i wanted to move my apps on sd card ... but not sure ... i'm pretty lame in this stuff.

I just don't know what you mean by "format /system, /data" and how to do it ... is it somewhere in recovery mode ?

yes, depends on your version where to find it - it's at "mounts and storage" / "format" here (if I'm not mistaken - sorry too lazy to go there now)
"(or do you use an ext partition?)" - not sure I created somthing probabbly like that, because i wanted to move my apps on sd card ... but not sure ... i'm pretty lame in this stuff.

if you "created something" or have all your apps on sd you most probably have an ext partition which you should format/wipe, too, then (after backing up your apps...)
didn't help
formated /system, /data /sd-ext
wipe /dalvik-cache, /cache
wipe all/factory reset
then installed rom from zip , after that i installed google aps, turn it off (because of inserted sd card) than turn it on without sdcard .... but problem is still the same
Use the guide in my signature. First to unroot and S-ON. Then wipe SD card.
Then root again (also in sig), hopefully it'll be gone.

Today at work my colleague tryed your guide (step by step, unroot S-ON , wipe sd partition then root .... etc) but didn't help, he also gave mi error log from phone, so if somone could help me.
I can see some errors in there, but really don't know what to do. Can you help with that ?
Thanks a lot

From what I understand, it just looks like a normal day for the Wildfire; some errors but mainly just day to day errors, somethings that my £560 One S does
Do you know which part he got stuck on by any chance? Which step, etc.

Try to change your charger/data cable..may be its a charging port fault.

good idea. Having this said it might also be a good idea to carefully check your micro USB slot (this also causes a faulty behaviour with the car dock app sometimes) - you could give it a blast with compressed air to blow out particles (but be careful not to blow the stuff inside the phone).
