Basically we all know that the Desire has a useless ammount of memory. I'm running ICS one of the first beta versions, anyway I've got no memory, I've tried to partition the sd card to ext 4 but it rejects it so I'm looking for someone to point me to the next step with some instructions mainly if I need to revert back to gingerbread, how would I do that?
Thanks Dave

How are you trying to partion SD card? Most reliable methods seem to be with 4ext or Gpart.
I've used gparted via ubuntu, but it for some reason doesn't like that, I'm thinking its rom related as it worked on a GB rom but since going over to ICS it doesn't work..
what do you mean 'rejects it'
do you mean that your entire SD card is not being read by the ROM and/or windows ?
You can use one of clockwork recovery's advanced menus to format the drive for you to a size of your choice 512 or 1024 or whatever.. I can't remember if it gave options for ext3 and 4 but you can def. get ext 4 out of it. the rest should be left as fat32.. works like a charm

The way I did it was via the CWM.
Before you do this, make sure that there are no apps stored on the sdcard (because your about to wipe it) - i.e. go through each app (unless you have Titanium Backup, which makes this easier).
Boot into recovery, in the advanced section, select partition sdcard, then select a 512Mb partition (wouldn't go higher - you get issues), select 0 for the swap partition.
Then boot up and follow the instructions about a2sd on this page:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355660
It all worked fine for me (and I have loads of space now!)
What version of CWM did you use?
hmmmm, are you using beta 0.3.6?
I mean, there are some instructions for a2sd:
To activate the built in a2sd:
open terminal and run these commands:
su
a2sd install
To move dalvik cache do:
a2sd cachesd
And try with different sd card....
I'm on 0.3.6 i followed the methods of using the CWM to partition it, when i said rejects it i meant that after using gparted android claims it is corrupted and nees to be format. Anyway so after running the terminal commands all fine but i cannot use the phone at all, contacts process crashes and thats followed by "android.process.accore has stopped." Any suggestions? I figured it might be a bad flash so re-flashed it but that doesnt seem to help.
I have not yet partitioned my sd card, I am still sorting things out. I also have low mem error. I believe the bulk of the problem, is the sorting of things. Others have had success with certain configurations of CWM, Droid builds, ext3 or ext4, and cell phone carriers.
After reading like you have, I have seen that CWM partitions have been unsuccessful until after version 2. I am currently running a US Cellular Droid 2.2, Rooted, CWM v4.0.0.2. Sorry for the lack of help yet. I will keep updating as I work through this.
I think best bet for me is to go back to gingerbread and go back to ICS after that and see where I am.
ICS for Desire is too many bug.
Try to erase cash and restart phone
These are the steps you have to do:
1. S-off
2. Get the appropriate partition for the system (see the Alpharev instrutions);you need Bravo Stock or Bravo Data++(I used the last one);
3. with Geparted from Linux(Ubuntu) live cd, partition SD card FAT32 and at least 1,5Gb 4Ext, both as primary partition;
4. power-off your Desire;
5. press Vol. down and Power;
6. go in Recovery;
7. wipe data/factory reset
8. wipe cache partition
9. mounts and storage --> format boot, cache, data, system, sd-ext
10. advanced --> wipe dalvik cache, wipe battery stats
11. install clean rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1403113 without trying to get m2sd to work;
12. Setup the Google stuff;
Goodluck!
If you want to have ICS on your Desire, try Chromium v1.5 .

Hi,
Today i have MildWild v. 3.2 and i´m very pleased with it. One thing though is that i can´t understand is how A2SD works. I thought that the A2SD script was automatically working if only the Sd-card was correct formatted. I have two partitions, the first one is 1 GB ext3 and the second and rest is fat32.
The internal memory has now only 16 MB left.
Do I have to run another script to get the A2SD to work or what is it that I´m doing wrong?
All the help I can get is welcome.
// MatNal
was just on mildwild 3.2 (now on 3.5), A2SD should work fine by default.
how did you partition your sd card. gparted or 4EXT recovery are recommended.
FAT32 should be first (on the left), and ext3 or ext4 should be second (on the right), both primary partitions.
keep apps on 'internal', don't 'move to sd' to use the partition. use apps like quick system info pro or diskusage to check if everything's working.
to get even more space you can move dalvik to sd as well, think the zip attached should be compatible.
also are you S-OFF and changed hboot (to cm7r2)? it's not a requirement, but you might as well to use the space more efficiently.
Thanks for the answer.
I used gparted to partition my sd card. On the left was FAT32 and to the right was the ext3, both primary. So far did I do everything correct then.
I´ll try to format the sd card again and do a new rom installation. Wipe data and cache. Anything else I have to do?
I´m S-OFF but I have´t changed my HBOOT. How do I do that and where can I find it? Can I use Rom manager and use it at the same way that the rom is "installed"?
Anything else that i should do to get the phone back in bushiness?

uninstall rom manager first, it's known to cause usb bricks on this phone. you don't need it.
if you are going to repartition your sd, might as well use ext4, should be faster.
you might as well change the hboot before doing a fresh install.
go to alpharev.nl, where you can find hboots. use cm7r2.
it will repartition you internal memory with 145MB system partition, the rom itself has ~110MB system so fits nicely. actual internal memory will go up from stock ~147MB to 287MB
hboot can be flashed one of 3 ways
- fastboot (requires android sdk), commands given on the page
- PB99IMG zipfile, instructions on same page
- android flasher, program which does the same thing (+ other stuff like radios and splash screens)
then reboot into recovery and full wipe fresh install. A2SD should work by default as stated before.
app data and dalvik cache gradually build up on internal the more apps you install. so if you still run out of space, flash the zip i posted earlier (assuming your ext partition is big enough to accommodate apps and dalvik)
okey, thanks!
Some new problems that I did find out this just a few minutes ago. When the phone is off and I press down and power, the first menu gives me the options
fastboot
recovery (which I´v been using several times)
clear storage
simlock
If I now select the recovery menu the HTC screen shows for a second or so and the comes the next menu
bootloader
reboot
reboot bootloader
power down
What happened with the recovery menu? How can I now get to the recovery menu?

i recommend 4EXT recovery, download the recovery updater from there, and it can flash a new touch recovery for you.
failing that you can manually flash a recovery image using fastboot commands, or android flasher.
Hey,
I've been using ICS (beta 0.4.2.1 now, beta 0.3.9 previously) and none of the a2sd scripts seem to be working. I tried to use the one you have to activate through adb, and today when I updated to 0.4.2.1 I chose another one from the installer. My phone still reports 148 MB of internal storage...
I've had a thorough search of similar threads, but you know how difficult it is to find any meaningful information on this forum; can someone please point me in the right direction? Thank you!
I flashed ICS and installed the bundled a2sd script and it worked like the script on Insertcoin. That is the system still displayed the data partition size of my hboot but the SD ext4 partition was utilised for apps. If you have titanium backup you can see the data usage on the home screen.
I also flashed amarullz script. This script did change the reported internal memory to my SD card partition size. I did not use it long so I can't comment on how it runs on s class 4 SD card.

You did not understand how A2SD works. It moves all apps (with A2SD+ also dalvik-cache) you install automatically to an EXT-partition (some of their data still remain in internal memory). But it does not increase / decrease the size of internal memory.
If you want to change the size of internal memory, you have to use a script which moves the whole /data-partition to an EXT-partition. The size of this partition is then the size of your internal memory. The name of this scripts is DATA2SD / DATA2EXT.

Did you ever get a fix for your problem?
I have something similar. Was running 0.3.9. and decided for a couple days ago to upgrade to a newer edition. Wiped data/factory reset, wiped cached and dalvik-cache, and installed the new version.
Used stock everything, activated a2sd and tried to start and install some apps from google play. Got a message that it was not sufficient space.
Did get titanium installed, and that reports the different "drives" correctly, but I still don't get it to work as it should. If I try to install from play, it says not sufficient space, even if I try to restore from titanium, still no luck.
Anyone got any ideas?
Start Terminal. Type:
su
a2sd install
yes (move dalvik-cache)
no (don't move appdata) (yes will make device slower)
yes (restart)
After reboot you have more space, but don't see it.
Start terminal
su
a2sd diskspace
gives the size of your sd-ext and how much is used

Same problem here. I tried to wipe caches and even recreated the partitions but still no luck with the stock a2sd.

Just wondering. Isn't the whole idea with the as2d to move the appdata to the sd-card?

App and appdata are different things:
The App it's the "core" and are loaded in the RAM when you start them, so if you move them to sdcard you get a slowdown only on the boot of the app itself
The Appdata it's the data created and used by the program to run, likes databases and so; if you move it to the sdcard you get a slowdown 'cause the program continuosly try to access it.
someone correct me if I'm wrong, i'm still learning the stuff
Long story short: normal A2SD+ methods (like DarkTremor or m2sd) only move a part of /data, linking the files; you will NOT see the increased space but your Apps will occupy less memory.
Data2sd method like data2sd or Amarullz A2SDX will "swap" the ext space with the internal data memory, giving you a visible increase in your internal space.
TL;DR if you have a fast SD card you can go for the latter, else stick to m2sd wich is a new and good method to move application!
For partitioning, I suggest you to use 4ext touch recovery, you can install it on your phone from 4ext.net and flash your new recovery directly from your phone (you need to have S-OFF!); after you have your new recovery flashed:
make a backup of your SD card data (you have to format it)
Reboot in recovery
Go to "Tools"
"partition sd card ->"
"Remove all partitions and start from scratch"
Now you have to set, in order, you primary ext dimension, your secondary ext dimension and the swap dimension
I usually go for - 1st ext: 1024 -2nd ext: 0 - swap: 0
Select ext4 for your first ext partition
Now you are ready to use wathever a2sd method you want.
Hope this will help you!
Regards,
Ryther
Ahh I'm just going to leave this here.
All the ICS Devs have done a great job - Kudos to them.
But if you want a bugfree ROM which works well, for now - GIVE UP on ICS.
Go back to CM7 - it'll do you good.
Don't give up on ICS because SOME people have issues. I've ran an ICS build with a2sd working just fine no bugs whatsoever. I have not tried a data2ext script on an ICS build though so I don't know about that.
Hi,
I'm running MildWild V-4.8 on my Desire, and I got a 8 GB class 10 sd-card i would like to partition.
I've been reading a lot about it, but they all seem to use clockworkmod recovery mode "advanced > "partition sdcard". I dont have that option, bc it just doesnt appear on my phone.. what do i do? How could a partition my sd-card and make it a "part of" the internal memory?
Kind regards
Christoffer
Ps. I think i did a fair search of the forum already, but if i've i missed a the answer somewhere then im sorry!
I'm not sure who "they"are, but I use 4ext recovery to partition mine, just boot to recovery and see which you have.
Be aware I'm pretty sure partitioning will erase ALL data on the card!

I tried out the 4ext recovery, but it didnt manage to partition it, so instead i partitioned it (2gb ext3) on my computer following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SD_card_partitioning.
I then used s2e and selected Applications, Dalvik cache and Download cache before i rebooted.
My phone still says that the internal memory is148 mb? What did i miss ?
NB. I partitioned and used s2e on C7, do I have to re-flash before it will see my sd-card?
Strange that 4 ext didn't work, even though your phone is still reporting limited storage, if things are working as they should add you install apps that should remain roughly the same. Maybe download something to see?

minitool is bad at partitioning sdcards, cant believe 4ext didnt work, u must not have done it correctly. anyway if 4ext didnt work, u should always use gparted instead.

I tried installing it, and i removed rom-manager, but whenever i rebooted i got into clockworkmod recovery, which does not give me the option of partition the sd-card.
I will try using gparted instead, but my question still remains.
Once they card has been formated, is there anything else i need to do besides s2e and reboot it? I've been doing some google-search and i've read about hboot and even flashing the phone again? Is this really something i need to do, or should my phone se the ext3 as internal harddrive right after i've run s2e and rebooted it?

i also recommend gparted, it's the best method alongside 4ext recovery. step 5 here is better.
do not use S2E, read the app description: "S2E works only with CyanogenMod7, CyanogenMod9 and CyanogenMod10". also, you don't need to do anything else to move apps to sd-ext with this ROM.
the reason it shows only 148MB is because you are on stock hboot. basically your current system size is 250MB, and the rom's system size is only about 110MB, wasting 140MB.
you need to s-off and change hboot to cm7r2 hboot to maximise space. it has a system size of 145MB. (there are ways to optimise it further but this will be the easiest way for you.)
It will still only show 287MB of internal afterwards, and it will never 'see' the partition. keep your apps on 'internal', this should trick your apps to sd-ext.
so...
- backup your apps etc using titanium or similar
- backup your sd to computer
- repartition sd using gparted guide exactly
- copy everything back to sd
- s-off if you haven't already
- change to cm7r2 hboot (search for guides, i recommend using fastboot, set it up and read the fastboot bit here).
- reboot into recovery, full wipe and flash rom.
- restore apps, keep them on internal as suggested.
- use another app like 'diskusage' to browse all your partitions, you should see your sd-ext filling up with app apks and dalvik cache as expected.
- internal memory will still decrease as app data is still stored on internal nand, but it will do so much slower, and 287MB should be plenty for app data.
sounds like a faff, but the guides and info are already there for a reason...you'll be using the space more efficiently, and hopefully understand a bit more how things work and where everything is...

i have just gotten my hand on a HTC desire over the weekend, with zero knowledge on rooting or android. after installing a few apps, namely FB, gmail, maps, flipboard and whatsapp i was given the "low memory" warning. uh... i have not even installed candy crush yet... so i did some read up on a few sites and straightaway attempted to mod the desire to increase the internal memory.
what i did :
s-off using Revolutionary tool and installed CWM.
partitioned an 8gb class10 card, 2048mb ext3 and the balance FAT32,
CyanogenMod 7.0.2.1 stable release.
Data2SD
to my delight everything work out and i get increased internal memory and i was happily re-installing all the above apps. problem is some of the apps -youtube and facebook, could not be started. after choosing "move to sd" then it can be started and used, albeit a tad laggy. the only issue left is whatsapp, after activation, it went on and on in the "initialising" for a very long time without any sign of it ever getting into working condition, i had to force close it.
i am thinking of repeating the whole process once again, clean install, but based on the read-up about data2sd, if i were to reflash rom on a device that already has data2sd prior, i would need to use Data2SDReinstaller.zip instead of Data2SDinstaller.zip that i have acquired earlier.
after googling up like mad, i still could not find anywhere to download Data2SDReinstaller.zip. hope that anyone who still has this would share it up here. Thanks a lot!
Well done for getting this far on your own! A few things you could do to improve check:
- How did you partition your sd card? Should be done in gparted or 4EXT recovery only, not minitool. Also might as well use ext4, slightly faster than ext3
- Next you should also install cyanogenmod on cm7r2 hboot to maximise your actual internal memory. Currently you're still on stock hboot with 250MB /system and you're only using ~140MB. You can convert this wasted 110MB into extra /data (internal memory), goes from 147MB to 287MB
- I personally don't recommend data2sd. Might the reason you're getting errors. Also you shouldn't need to use 'move to sd' anymore that moves to the fat32 partition not the sd-ext. Use a different script to move apps and dalvik to sd-ext, keep app data on internal.
So try:
- backup everything if you haven't already (titanium backup for apps etc)
- change hboot to cm7r2 using fastboot, search for guides
- (optional) flash 4EXT recovery using fastboot
- backup and repartition sd card if necessary using 4EXT as above
- full wipe and reinstall ROM again
- use another app/script such as mount2sd, S2E or darktremor A2SD, move apps and dalvik to sd-ext. They do the same thing. You won't necessarily see you're internal memory increase to 'internal + sd-ext' but it's working. Don't 'move to sd' as before, keep them on internal to trick to sd-ext.
- restore apps. Install something like diskusage to check your partitions are working.

hi eddie, thanks for your pointers!
i used CWM to partition the card earlier on, only to discover that it was partitioned on ext3 with no choice to . prior to data2sd, i have tried link2sd, with the impression that it is similar to S2E & mount2sd. sad to say that after installing apps as listed earlier, the same low memory warning still popped up, so i assumed these script is not what i wanted.
for my next step, i plan on a full wipe and start afresh, thinking of using minitool to hammer the whole card flat on a single, FAT32 partition, and then using Aparted to create an ext4 partition. (downloadable from market, yeah that would mean putting the phone into stock CM firmware first and re-wipe again after that).
i have zero knowledge on linux nor any of my machines running it and i am so used to windows environment, that is the reason i did not start out on using Gparted in the first place, and used CWM's own partitioning tool.. 4ext recovery could be an alternative from what i read, but can 4ext be installed when CWM is already in place?
just to update, found the download for the data2sdreinstaller files, in some sections of xda i forgot which thread but i have it now. i will try on re-doing data2sd first. if the phone still give me issues then next would be doing as what you have suggested. thanks again!
Don't use clockworkmod. It's not that it's a bad recovery generally, but for desire it's not recommended as it tends to not create properly aligned partitions.
Backup sd, delete all partitions and repartition from scratch, use gparted or 4EXT recovery, don't recommend anything else. Now that you're s-off it's quite easy to change recovery, it will simply replace CWM.
gparted is also not that bad once you get the hang of it, I use bootable live cd and personally prefer it as I can see everything. I never used linux either... Use this guide
I've never had any luck with link2sd, never liked it. Yes it's supposed to do the same thing, but the idea of linking seemed a bit odd, maybe just not for me, and you may not have had any luck due to a bad partition. Try the others suggested, move apps and dalvik to sd-ext.
Remember to also change hboot to optimise space further.

noted with many a thanks. hopefully learning this on Desire would allow me to do the same on some other Android devices in future. Funny to think i am doing this as all these while i am just a plain nokia user with all stock firmware.
the jargons for androids are abit overwhelming for me.
Don't worry, it's all a learning process. For most in the desire forums it was their first android device, like me too.
All of the stuff I've written above, I knew none of that at the start either.
Like anything, the more you read the more you learn. It'll start to make sense sooner or later

Can i just make a 'factory reset' from the CWM recory menu ? Or should i wipe everything and flash the Rom again ? Or maybe some other option ?
Thanks in Advance.
try wipe cache and dalvik in recovery then reboot.
maybe help .

You should try to work out why it might be slow in the first place.
Are you using an sd partition for A2SD? How did you create the partition? Any other scripts?
If you want to simply reinstall the ROM, you can:
- make a nandroid backup just in case
- flash the ROM.zip straight over the top, no wipe
This may clean things a little on your /system partition, and you shouldn't lose your apps.
If you "wipe data / factory reset" within cwm, and do nothing afterwards, this will wipe the ROM and it will not boot as you won't have any OS.
You can reflash the ROM.zip after "wipe data / factory reset", this is simply a full wipe and reinstall from scratch. Make sure you have a nandroid, backed up your contacts to google, and a titanium backup of your apps etc before you try this.

Despite this being repeated millions of times in xda, it rarely ever actually solves anything. cache is just temporary files. dalvik is required for apps to function. after you wipe it, it simply rebuilds, which is why it takes so long to boot afterwards...
In other words don't bother wiping dalvik...save yourself the time.
Thanks for the help.
It's probably getting slow because I run most apps via A2SD .. Cant really remember how i created the partition back then, it's more than a year ago now...don't think i use other scripts.
I don't use this phone that much anymore, but i wanted to have a backup phone in case my newer one gets broken or something, therefore i wanted to do a clean install on this one.
So if i flash the ROM straight over this one, without wiping, i still got al my personal data on the phone ?
Does a Nandroid backup also backs up the apps ? Cause when i reinstall this backup it probably gets slow again right ?
Is there a way to backup only the system settings from the ROM, so that when i do a full wipe , reinstall the same ROM again, i can restore the changes i made in this ROM ?
Thanks.

You're supposed to run all your user installed apps via A2SD, that's why you rooted and partitioned your sd card in the first place. Otherwise you run out of space again

If you can't remember how you did it, then there's a chance you did it wrongly. It should be done with 4EXT recovery or gparted only, not clockworkmod recovery or minitool partition wizard. You mention clockworkmod recovery, so I assume you are also still S-ON?

To be honest, these are kind of basics you should know before you try anything with your phone A nandroid backup is a backup of everything. When you restore it, it should be exactly the same: apps, settings, texts, home screens etc.
You should be making a nandroid backup before you wipe / install anything unless you know exactly what you're doing, as it is a safe point to restore to if anything goes wrong. You can even move them off your sdcard to PC or cloud storage to save space and for safekeeping (normally stored in the /clockworkmod folder)
You can backup anything you like with apps like Titanium Backup. It is best used for your normal apps and app data. You can backup and restore /system apps and data, but this is very risky and I don't recommend it.
Personally I would recommend a full wipe and restore, setting everything up properly from the start as it should have been done in the first place. I'm assuming you're still S-ON:
- Install Titanium Backup, backup all your user apps and data (not system apps)
- Make sure your contacts are backed up to your Google account, backup SMS if you need to with another app
- Backup your whole sdcard to PC
- S-OFF with revolutionary
- Flash cm7r2 hboot using fastboot, this will optimise your actual internal memory more efficiently.
- Flash 4EXT recovery using fastboot
- Reformat your sdcard in 4EXT, partition with maximum 2GB ext4 partition, no swap
- Copy your sd card backup back
- Full wipe (wipe all partitions except sdcard)
- Flash ROM.zip
- Restore user apps + data with Titanium
Hey Eddie,
Thanks for you answer, really appreciate it.
I installed the custom rom on my phone more than a year ago, and back then i was really into it, now most of the details i forgot..
But it's S-OFF for sure, and i installed HBOOT also..i can't really remember how i formatted the SD card, is there a way to find that out ?
I will probably just install the same rom again, but first do a full wipe like you advised. Then it probably will work as smooth as it did in the beginning when i installed this ROM for the first time..
Do i need to reformat the SD-card again then, or is only a wipe enough?
Also, when installing apps, i now move them to SD card via the 'apps' menu -> move to SD , is that the right way to do it ? Or is there some other method ?

S-OFF means you unlocked the bootloader, it's a good start but nothing more. Explain 'installed HBOOT', did you already actually flash a different hboot? Write what is says on top of your bootloader screen. If it just says 'Alpharev', means you are actually still on stock hboot.
Like I said, if you can't remember how you partitioned your sdcard, you may have done it wrongly. Please reformat it from scratch as advised.

Reformat your sdcard from the start, do it the right way so you know you've done it the right way, rather than be uncertain...then follow instructions as above.
Roms like Mildwild have A2SD built in, you only need to keep apps on 'internal' to trick them to your sd-ext partition. 'Move to SD' is redundant, and moves part of the app to the FAT32 partition of your sd card. A2SD moves all of the app apk (and dalvik cache if you choose to), to the sd-ext which is where you want.
Other ROMs you need to activate A2SD manually, read the first post. Same rule still applies, don't use 'Move to SD', because if you do, you are not actually using your sd-ext partition...
Some ROMs like MildWild are also better installed on smaller hboots like cm7r2 to use your internal memory more efficiently (stock hboot is wasteful). Again instructions should be given in the first post of each ROM.

When i boot up in bootloader it says:
- revolutionary -
S-off
Hboot-6.93.1002
Radio etc..
Repartitioning is probably not necassery because i already think i did, but maybe do it again then..
A2SD:
This is what i did wrong all the time..i moved them to SD card via 'apps' in settings'..maybe this is why it got a little slower by time.
However i cant find any app called A2SD or is this a script that runs automatically ?
When i check the app 'freespace' it says : internal, microSD, Sd-ext, system.
thanks

Its a script so if your apps are on internal it will automatically trick them to move them to your sd ext which is the partition you have made which is 1gb recommended...

No, for the third time...
You think you already did it, and you have no idea how you did it...
Therefore: it is most likely is that you haven't done it, or you 've done it incorrectly.
If you've done it using clockworkmod recovery or minitool, they make bad partitions. It could be the exact reason you're having these slowdowns in the first place
You should do it with 4EXT recovery or gparted ONLY, nothing else. If neither sound familiar, then this increases your chances further that you have partitioned incorrectly...

Have a look again at freespace. You see all that free empty space on your /system partition? This is completely wasted redundant space.
You have exactly the same internal memory layout as before you rooted / S-OFF. With S-OFF you can change your actual internal memory layout by flashing a different hboot, see alpharev.nl.
By flashing a different hboot, you reduce your /system and /cache size -> and therefore increase your /data size (internal memory) = more space for apps :good: This is probably why you rooted in the first place...
So I believe you have narrowed it down to two choices:
- Keep full wiping...and never understand what you're doing...
- Follow the instructions and try to learn what you're doing and how your memory is actually being used Set everything up from scratch. It is the only way to guarantee you have a proper setup.
Up to you

Hi Eddy,
Finally I got the time to set up everything properly on my (new) Htc Desire, cause i lost my old one
Here is what i've done so far:
- Got it Rooted via the method advised here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275632
- Then I S-Offed with Revolutionary script, and installed CWM 5.0.2.0 .. not really what you advised me but i wanted to test if it was working, cause i had this recovery on my old phone also.
- Then I flashed cm7r2 hboot using Android Flasher. Could not get it to work via CMD->Fastboot on windows.
- Now i end up with a boot loop, only giving me the white HTC screen. When booting up in Hboot, it says:
AlphaRev CM7 r2
S-Off
HBoot-6.93.1002
I can enter CWM recovery, but it gives me some errors like 'E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
And like i said: booting normally it ends up in a bootloop.
Did i do anything wrong, and what s the best way to move on now ?
Thanks in advance.

When u change hboot u have perform full wipe then reflash rom or restore nandroid backup. So in recovery wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache then reboot recovery then flash rom or restore nandroid backup if u have one.
Also ul prob need to partition ur sdcard for a2sd in roms so u must use 4ext recovery or gparted only. So again, flash 4ext recovery.

Ok thats clear, thanks for your reply.
I'd like to install 4Ext recovery, but it seems installing this recovery is done a little different from other recoveries right ?
Cause on their website it's done via an app frome the market..
Should i install a new rom first, then install 4Ext recovery ? Or can i flash 4Ext recovery from a zipfile in clockworkmod recovery ?

Installed it , and am trying to re-partition my SD-card (8 Gb) in the 4Ext recovery mode.
I followed this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2125513
Set 1st sd-ext partition to 2048 mb, skipped second, and skipped swap.
But then i get the message:
You new partiotion table would look like this:
Fat32: 5580 mb
SD-ext: 2048MB
Is that correct ? Shouldn't be all the memory on the SD-card partitioned to SD-ext ?

Okay thanks.
I thought that the whole SD-card would be partitioned as 4ext.
Is it true that A2SD now only uses the 4Ext partition (2gb) to trick apps to ?
Anyway, i'm happy to have my desire now set-up properly, so thanks for your help
I tried 2 Mildwild roms already, but didn't find a way to encrypt SD-card within these roms , does anybody knows if that's possible somehow ?
Any suggestions for other (Mildwild) Roms ? (tried MildWild MW-14 and MildWild CM-8.0 JG Stable)
Thanks.
