benchmarked ROMS: stock GB v. leaked ICS v. CM9 v. CM9+HO!NO! kernel - LG Nitro HD

I wanted to see how each current rom stacks up in a comparison, all roms were installed fresh- data wiped and all. i could not get the test to run with the HO!NO! kernel at full clock, even though my phone handles everything else fine at full clock.
each test was run 2x on each rom.

were you using antutu? this is what i got with it. All i did was kill all processes. running nightly from 6.11 and also using HO!NO! (thank you) v2 OC to 1.84Ghz

Hmm.. LG's ICS looks very promising for future custom ROMs/Kernals. Nice comparison.

yes, antutu. i think it's OK, benchmarks are what they are but I figure it should provide a generally good comparison. the only app installed on each rom was antutu and for cm9, gapps 3/17.

this comparison is not a speedy demon test, i've done that and posted that previously, I can achieve those results you posted with the stock gb killing processes and much more to get the phone in drag strip mode.
this is simply an attempt to compare ROMS on a generally = footing.

dangit Os, now you've got me curious how this cm9/HO!NO! can perform but i'm maxed at 1782 mHz! i'd bet this phone could tap 8000 fully set to race

The speed is very promising hands down. you cant go any higher than that speed? i know that every processor has its own share of DNA, but i would assume most would stop at 1.8

I'm running stock Bell ROM and OC to 1836MHz with HO!NO! kernel & I get 7605 in Antutu without killing anything. So what's the point of running ICS?

1. Benchmarks are not everything. 2. ICS improvements mainly come from its ui hardware acceleration and if you used it you would see the point of running ics. Its significantly smoother than gb ever was and it manages memory better.

Correct for smoother, I experienced ICS for 2 days b4 went back to GB. For memory, I don't know about it's management mechanism but I saw it used more memory.

funny that my nitro hd in stock2.3.5 scores 5647 total but get 1522 on gpu what is a lot.But i dont know why i get really bad I/O (430) i think its cuz the sd card is class 2 16 gb wich is slow.

My benchmark results LOWER than a Evo 2.2? WTF

A couple of week ago I did a benchmark test, it came back 944, well below an Evo 2.2. A couple of days ago I rooted my phone, still on stock SENSE rom and I ran the test again, these are my results,

How the hell is this possible? Lol. I'm below a Evo 2.2 yet, my Evo is on 2.2. Can someone explain?
Does your phone perform fine otherwise?
Benchmarks are for the kids but it does seem a little low

The benchmarks don't mean anything, just gloating. If you overclock it you'll get better scores.
I hate benchmarks I think they are inaccurate, plus evos react different with every different rom you flash. If my evo is not sluggish then its fast. Maybe its time to try another rom. Find one that has all or most of the bloat ware taken out they seem to be faster.
Good luck.

Like stated earlier, those scores really don't mean much. If it bugs you, and you want to see a higher score, make sure a bunch of stuff is not running in the background before you run the quadrant test.
Use osmonitor or seepu+ from the market to see if anything is using your cpu, you probably have an app that is hogging it. It's possible that's a sign of malware too since the exploit they use will eat up your resources.
I posted about this a few days ago and got similar answers. I can't make mine go higher than 1150 (using Koni's Elite Series II, MS79723's SBC #15 v7 kernel. Did it on a fresh restart).
I have no idea what they're basing these tests on, but it sure as hell isn't our Evos lol.
Fear not though. Our UI runs on CPU and not on the GPU, so unless you play video games your benchmark actually doesn't matter at all. One thing the Evo is known for apart from other, newer phones is we're still running the Adreno 200 GPU while others have newer chip sets.
If you want faster scores here's some tips:
Get SetCPU and overclock your processor
Use xHausx's suggestion about checking to make sure your processor isn't being used.
Get an AOSP rom (like MIUI, CM6 or CM7). Without Sense, the phone runs faster and it'll show.
Get a kernel that performs better. Best bet is Netarchy for Sense. I don't know the kernels from AOSP.
I'm sure there's a few speed hacks/scripts/mods you can find too, but unless your Evo is actually the Evo 3D and not our Evo, then your benchmarks are gonna come up short.
As long as it feels fast to you I wouldn't worry about it.
my benchmark is lower, but my phone is still super smooth and you wouldnt tell the difference from scrolling or using an app. opening an app takes a lil longer
@245mhz
My phone lags, especially playing games. I'm also using Launcher Pro Plus, does that have anything to do with it? How can I get rid of this Sprint bloatware?
titanium backup will uninstall bloatware, our you can flash a custom rom with no bloatware included
What performance did you expect running a gps on 1 bar?

Stock cpu speed:
1.2GHz:
1.45GHz:
1.6GHz:
1.7 and 1.8GHz gave me lower scores than 1.6GHz, so I guess its safe to say 1.6Ghz is the max stable speed.

Interestingly, after some tweaking, messing around, and other stuff, I managed to score over 2200 at 768mhz. I'm getting some nice smooth performance out of it while underclocked, and getting it to do things quicker means it'll save that much more battery.

I'm not really sure, to be honest. I was mostly tweaking personal preferences, then messing with governors on the CPU. While comparing governors, the number kept climbing until it broke 2200 then fell back to just under 2200. I double checked my CPU clock settings to make sure I was still at 768mhz. I haven't really done any further testing. I suspect part of it may be JIT optimizations, but I'm not sure.

Yea I was messing around with the different govenors after reading your post and I noticed a big difference between the power saver and ONdemand. Power saver makes the transitions a little sluggish but I guess that's to be expected for what it's trying to do. lol All in all though the battery life on ondemand is leaps and bounds ahead of the stock ROM I'm running a 1.1ghz clock right now and it is like butter with battery life to boot.

I guess that's what I get for trying, but I did say to limit this to E4GT only, so the SGS2 with the 7700+ doesn't count.
I will also state I ran mine exactly the same way I run it every day, with widgets running and such. SO I will go back and tweak what I can and see what I get. At the time, though, I thought it was cool.

Pardon me, I misread.
So how about some advice and pointers? Your RAM is one thing that is killing me, and if I were able to get 1650-1700MHz I figure the CPU figures will help themselves. My read/write is dead on with yours. So what do I do to get to those speeds and that much free RAM? I am running Tegrak as well. And other than the zedomax kernel and root, everything else is stock.

I don't trust any kernel that isn't based off of stock pulled at this point. I have social hub, media hub, and all the drm apps frozen. I think I have the odexed nociq mod but that might've gone away when I had to revert to a nandroid backup not sure. Don't use a live wallpaper.. That's about all I can think of really. Every phone is different so we could have the exact same setup and get different scores.

[CDMA] Any ROMs with 4,000+ quadrant scores?

I've always gotten lower scores (barely 2000, sometimes a little more than 3000) and was wondering if I was going crazy or this is normal. I've tried so many rom/kernel combinations but no luck.
I'm on AOKP and I'm getting 2068 and lower.

The updated quadrant reports much lower for all devices. The GN isn't as much of a "benchmark queen" as the SGSII has potential to be. Unless your phone is reporting a score far under what Quadrant reports as typical, don't worry about it.
I'm benchmark app free
There are a few posts around with people showing around 4000 on quadrant i think. Dont know which roms though. Search the benchmark thread.
ive found the BEST stability and over all best scores without over clocking with the official cyanogenmod 9 nightly i get 3000+ with that... but like the dude before said quadrant scores are all hype... just use a rom with good speed that works best for u.
I don't always choose a ROM based on 1 stat...
but when I do, its for Quadrant.
Quadrant doesn't really translate to real world use.. why do people obsess over quadrant scores so much? If the phone runs well it runs well I don't need third party software to tell me if my phone is running fine.

idc about quadrant, i just want a clean phone w/o bloatware with lot of resources and support
I owned a Sprint SGS2 and while quadrant scores were in the 3000's consistently and the GN is in the 2000's I cannot tell the difference in speed between the 2 of them.
Now with quad cores, they will even score higher but how much smoother can a device run then smooth as butter?
If you don't think your phone runs smooth, then try AOKP and turn your swag on. Let's see if the iPhone 4s can do that sh.t!
I get around 3200-3300 give or take a hundred running AOKP build #26 + franco.Kernel 18.6 oc'ed to 1350mHz (minimum 700mHz) and using conservative governor. The UV has been left as it came with the kernel or whatever.
I have to add that I just got this phone a couple of days ago, and I am totally and utterly giving this the title of best phone I have ever had. I can't believe the person I got this off of actually switched to an iPhone because of battery issues xD
Aokp build 25
franco.kernel @ 1.65ghz (the new releases don't go this high because it's unstable for some)

[Q] Over clocking? Kernel? P930 BENCHMARK?

I am looking for a great overlock for my lg nitro hd.... I know there is one that sets the CPU all the way up to 1.83 GHz but does anyone know the benchmark score of the updated processor...
On average stock the phone pulls around 2500... What is the highest you guys have gotten and how?
Thanks,
Dniz
2500? Which benchmark-prog? Seems a little low to me, if your using Antutu or CF-bench...
With (for example) the optimized kernel from HO!NO! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1547505 you can bring speed (not just speed, its stable too) to your phone. Together with the V1b ROM the benchmark was getting from 5200 to 7500 in Antutu and in CF-bench up to 8400. Also the performance on daily usage is way better than on stock!

That sound pretty good too. Unfortunatly i cant try CM9, not working for LU6200.
I also experienced no more heat, i guess its because the kernel is also undervolted.
On stock it was like a oven under heavy usage, thought it was a broken phone. But since i have the new kernel even under heavy usage, no heat anymore.
That's my main reason for wanting a cm9 compatible kernel, the undervolting. While I was running honos rom was the only time my phone didn't get too hot during normal use.

8041 - HO!NO! ROM and Kernal @ 1836 MHz (stable but not as smooth operation as stock ROM, I found)
7730 - Stock Bell Optimus 4G LTE P930 ROM with HO!NO! Kernal overclocked to 1836 MHz works the best for me as far as daily operating speed.
