Galaxy nexus AMOLED screen cracked :( - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Sprint, Verizon, and international. Are they all the same?
Could I replace my GSM gnex LCD with a Verizon one?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA

first off, its an AMOLED panel, not LCD. Different technologies
But anyways, most people are pointing out that these phones are not completely identical inside, and they're not easily interchangeable if you were to buy a GSM screen and try to put it on a Verizon device, for example. Lots of people have tried it, and from what I see it's not just plug-and-play.

The actual panel is the same. How it connects to the phone and the connector/pin placement is different.

Thanks martonikaj. I appreciate the answer.
Do you have any info on the screens? Maybe there's a way to connect them.

No problem.
No I don't. There are some threads where people have tried this though.

Pic of the crack? I think I may have bent (if that's possible) part of the screen. Its a black squiggly line on the front. And when reflected in light, it looks bent.

Bent? Mines just the digitizer. It sucks they are fused.

Dropped my phone. Cracked my screen.

Today was real sad for me... when I was getting out of my car, I accidentally dropped my phone on the concrete.
The phone still functions fine. But because it dropped screen flat down, the bottom part of my screen is crack.
Also there's a crack going through about halfway from the left bottom corner to the mid-right part.
Is there anyway to fix this? With an iPhone, i have a friend who switches the glass on the front/back.
Is this possible for the galaxy nexus screen?? Please help.
here are photos... this is a real quick photo i took with my macbook because i do not have access to any other camera right now.
more pics coming soon

is there anywhere i can go and repair it for a cost?
or is the only way to fix it by buying a separate screen and replacing it myself?
I really plan on using this phone for a long time so i am willing to pay a lot to fix this screen.
I read on the web that its possible, but alot more difficult than othwr phones. Best of luck to you!

No, I get that, but I've been around xda and other forums for a while, can't remember seeing this many on a device, albeit I've never had a device this popular. Maybe its the sheer number of people who own the GN. Even when I was shopping around I saw multiple devices with hairline scratches on the screen. The screen on this device gets alot of attention, I remember the uproar when Samsung said the device didn't use guerrilla glass.

Back in the day, when I broke my iphone screen, I was able to find a guy that would repair it for 60$ on Craigs list. Try and search for someone there.
I found a local cell phone shop that quoted me $220. Find one of those and call. But I couldn't fork out that kinda cash

I agree with you, cases and protection just take away from the device but sadly this is a risk. Did you by any chance buy it with a Visa card that may offer automatic protection from loss, damage or theft? My card covers me for the first 90 days.
Last I checked you could get the whole display assembly on eBay for ~$250

You ought to wait until the white CDMA/VZW version is released before searching. Or else it's a futile search.

I'm starting to believe that the white battery covers for the Verizon GNEX are not real even though they fit perfectly... because the same seller had the GSM version where the letters where in white as the lte version but the official GSM battery cover has the letters in grey

Might not want to believe everything you read on de interwebz, my friend... especially when it was a hastily published, not adequately researched bit of "journalism" from late January that's long since been debunked. An ad department typo and a single anonymously posted benchmark simply didn't add up to an authoritative source.
It is a verifiable fact that the Sprint Galaxy Nexus, just like every other variant of this phone, uses the OMAP 4460. And by verifiable, I mean you can go straight to the source-- Samsung as well as Sprint and they confirm the SoC used is the OMAP 4460.
I thought it was a for sure thing I wonder in what device will they put the ti omap 4470 chip.

Burn–in spots on screen?

Just recently I received a phone from the insurance company, and I noticed that burn in spots all over, and so I called them, and they shipped me out a new one and I looked for them on this phone right away. There are more spots and much worst too, but I called them and they said they'd replace it, but I don't want to make this a cycle. Anyone else getting phones like this?

I asked them that, then they asked if there was a certain sticker on the back and there wasn't one, but so they said it was brand new. Also if it were refurbished, how would burn in happen in the middle of the screen in big spots? Thanks for responding though.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
I've seen burn ins as well, on my Epic (not touch). It was after a lot of use though. I think it's pretty common, but I've never seen it on a brand new one..
Hmm that is weird. Could be a defective batch of phones or they recycled the screens and put them on new phones...
But yeah burn in is pretty prevalent on these Samsung amoled phones, especially if keep your brightness up high. I haven't had issues with this phone or the OG Epic but my girlfriends Fascinate had pretty bad burn in.

That is why Samsung went back to Super AMOLED with PenTile for the Galaxy S3. It seems that all AMOLEDs have the "burn in" problems, but the Super AMOLEDS+ are the worse. I suspect that warranty costs are starting to mount up for Samsung on devices that use Super AMOLED+. So they went back to non-plus displays with PenTile for the GS3.

Why do they do this!?!?!?

Why make a white door and not the housing for the i515 model!?!?!??

No the i515 is thicker then i9250 and because
1. It has LTE
2. I believe the screw holes are placed differently.
3. The sim card tray is placed different
4. Battery is shaped differently.

Why make a white door if you dont offer the white housing for i515!?!?!?
If u have a painted housing then it would make sense to buy it but not alot of ppl plan on that.
And it seems like i have no choice but to. It's been 7 month and ban is about to happen, I don't think I'll ever see a white housing.
Just paint it like most people have been doing.

Just why sell something that no one is gonna need if you don't have the housing.
