Hey there,
My play got a little wet today + ' I threw it in my bag' everything is fine except the on / off button. The led is working just fine. But when I push it down nothing happens... So screen will not go on / off when I push it. I'm affraid I won't get it turned back on . Anyone ever had the same Problem and knowes how to solve this ?

You should remove the battery and put it in a bag of rice overnight, that should absorb any water left on the phone, maybe that will work.
Thread can be closed- it's working perfectly Again, and all I did was charging the battery overnight...

hi guys
hope someone can help
my son had his play in his school trouser pocket , and the heavens opened up
well he and his phone got soaked
the problem is
his phone will only boot up when pluged into a computer , otherwise it hangs on the sony logo
and also his touch screen does not work
i have restored it and it is still the same
any help would be great
thanks
Got to be hardware related, it must be water damaged. Use google to find somewhere to fix it. Or maybe someone knows of a good deal to be had.
Unless of course you have insurance.

Take the back cover and battery out of the phone, then put the phone in an air tight container filled with rice and leave for 24hrs.

Right so had my nexus for a while and its been through pretty much every ROM and kernel combo there is without a issue.
Recently though its been having a lot of issues.
1: the phone works fine until around 30-40% then the phone screen keeps unlocking no reason. Give it a reboot / battery pull to stop it and when i switch it back on there is 5% battery. No reason.
2:it constantly says its charging even when it isn't. And when the battery drop happens I switch to air plane mode to listen to my music on the way from work and the battery goes up around 5%.
Things I have done to try and cure this:
1:Wiped the phone and reflashed including cache , delvik, and battery stats. With no result.
2:thought it may be corrupted media. Wiped the phone totally and removed everything from it to start from scratch . Still no banana.
3: upgraded to jb with bixies ROM , in case it was the ROM. Still happens.
If anyone could point me on the right direction of what I have to do yo cure this problem that would be great. As its making my phone usable only until it reaches 50% which as you would agree is not ideal in anyone's world.
Thanks in advance j

Either buy a new battery or the charging port in your GNex is fried.

Wow.. that is really weird well if that really is the root cause of the problem then I'd be amazed!
Hmm what about a replacement battery apk or something on those lines to reset all the battery stats and config. Really out of ideas what it is , ain't had this kind of problem before. Had most issues but this one is really odd and appears to not be fixable. I could unroot and send it back to Samsung but really CBA to do that and would rather try and fix it. Hmmm.....

The phone was acting like it was bricked.. not sure if it was a bad radio or a rom from another phone.. im really not sure... troubleshooting and looking into files now.
But..
I popped the back off (A few screws simple)
Covered the antenna leads with some non conductive tape and BOOM
Phone rebooted like new.
Here is the issue now
Its back on , i can use it, cell service seems fine and wifi seems fine.. so im assuming the ONE (of 3) antenna i had to leave covered to get to boot was GPS..
So not sure where to go from here.. Did hardreset , factory wipe, Darkside wipe, installed rom , kernal and radio, but still cant uncover the top center antenna lead or i get ZERO response when i close the phone back up.
Hopefully this could be an easy fix to some bricks out there.. ill update this when i find out why i cant uncover this last lead.
Depends what you mean by brick.. A lot of people lately been thinking low battery is bricked or even stuck buttons.
If your phone vibrates when trying to turn it on, then it isn't bricked.

The battery was cool, charged it over night, even tried my back up battery.. for some reason when i popped the back off (the screw on piece not the battery cover) it would turn right on.. but as soon as the contacts touched the back of the phone it would shut off and not respond.. i put tape over them.. wiped it to ****.. used odin to stock.. and then popped tape off the contacts popped the back back on and it works like a champ.. no idea why it worked.. but it did
Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hey the bricked part I think gets thrown around too much I probably would of used a different word but can you help others who may have the same issue in the future and post a pic of exactly what you did to get it working again.
thx
I accidentally dropped my phone in the water. I tried removing the battery and dried everything at once. Then, I turned on the phone and found that the camera flash keep blinking rapidly. So, I took out the battery for a while and turned it on again. This time, the phone keeps vibrating every time the battery is in contact.
The phone is chargable, able to connect in adb mode but I can't flash anything because the phone just would not turn off.
My Arc has locked bootloader, is rooted and running JJ Hybrid Rom.
I know this is probably a gone case but any help is appreciated
Dude, if your phone is dry and doing that, than its time to buy new one... Try reflashing if that doesnt solve problem you'll have to buy new one...
Well how long did you dry it and how?

Well, I took out the cover and everything and just put in under the sun and have a fan blowing at it. Left it there for like an hour. Then, I noticed there was some condensation on the inner side of the camera lens and I tried using dry rice to absorb the moisture. Left the phone with the rice around it for 5 hours and the condensation was gone but still the screen was messed up.
So, the phone is working now but the screen is kind of messed and looks like sound does not work. Going to leave it in the rice for some more time and hopefully the water would come out...sobbing
I would leave to dry for 1-2 days

so yesterday i was playing basketball with my friends. about ten minutes later i looked down and saw my phone sticking out of the snow with the top half in the snow. i picked it up and wiped it off immediately before putting it somewhere safe, it worked fine after this. After the game was over i went to go use my phone and i started using it. i opened a game of flappy bird and it shut off, i tried turning it back on, nothing. one time when i tried turning it on it looked like it was starting up normally because it said galaxy note 2 but then it shut off and nothing has happened since. i thought it might just be dead so i tried charging it to no avail. i thought it might be water damage from the snow so i put it in rice, its been in there for 12 hours and it didn't work when i just checked it. any help would be much appreciated. P.S. i'm going on vacation tomorrow morning with a very long flight and would love to have my phone working by then.
update
i opened the phone and the water damage stickers were not set off so thats not the problem. i dont know what it could be, it was also very cold yesterday if that could help maybe around 20 degrees fahrenheit. it was very dusty inside the phone if that could help at all
just a rain of ideas:
try entering download mode If it works (SDS?) if not it seems like dead, try(if you have any) with another battery. not water but cold could have damaged it. if you dont have any spare battery try taking it out and put again
