hi guys
hope someone can help
my son had his play in his school trouser pocket , and the heavens opened up
well he and his phone got soaked
the problem is
his phone will only boot up when pluged into a computer , otherwise it hangs on the sony logo
and also his touch screen does not work
i have restored it and it is still the same
any help would be great
thanks
Got to be hardware related, it must be water damaged. Use google to find somewhere to fix it. Or maybe someone knows of a good deal to be had.
Unless of course you have insurance.

Take the back cover and battery out of the phone, then put the phone in an air tight container filled with rice and leave for 24hrs.

Hey there,
My play got a little wet today + ' I threw it in my bag' everything is fine except the on / off button. The led is working just fine. But when I push it down nothing happens... So screen will not go on / off when I push it. I'm affraid I won't get it turned back on . Anyone ever had the same Problem and knowes how to solve this ?

You should remove the battery and put it in a bag of rice overnight, that should absorb any water left on the phone, maybe that will work.
Thread can be closed- it's working perfectly Again, and all I did was charging the battery overnight...

Why on earth do I always have problems with my Xperia PLAY when in fact I take care of it as if it was my girlfriend!?!? (My wife's jealous already!)
First, the slider flex was busted. I got it repaired. Four months later, touch panel (digitizer) got busted. Got it replaced. And now!!! Screen just freezes when the gamepad is closed, or it shows garbled image when I wake it up while the gamepad is closed but works just fine while it is opened!!!
Anyone having this problem? Could this be the slider flex busted again? Grrrr...
You got a lemon. Or, your wife picked it up and threw it on the wall, repeatedly, while you were sleeping.

hi...guys...
i bought a note 2 tmobile version, it said "to repair" has a bad digitizer etc etc...ok so far...i thought.. i buy a new lcd and it'll be ok.. but the thing in this phone is that i read " battery water damage has been activated" and its like i didnt read it. according to the item description. the phone charge the battery, turn on (the buttons lights up but need a new lcd/digitizer in order to see the display working) and you can see the phone files on the pc.... obiously i made a big mistake here... the question that comes to me: it is possible that the phone still works, (or is there a possibility to fix it), i mean.. a phone with water damage turn on, charge and can it be plugged in the pc? i dont have the phone yet..
It's unlikely to work, but try placing the phone inside of a bag dry rice for a day or 2. It draws moisture out of the phone.
Also, maybe it is only the battery that is damaged, not the phone.
I am unsure about how to fix water damaged phones though. Hopefully you get it working, sorry about your phone

+1, it's internals are working if it powers on, so we known it's not completely broken

i hope you guys be right, i sent him a message and here is the answer :
the water marker on the phone is pink but the one on the battery is fine. I bought this from someone as is. All I know is it seems to work. Computer recognized it, charger light works, and menu buttons light up when pressed. Haven't heard sounds from it but I assumed the volume is turned down
It might just be ok man just try to fix it and see

Rice is really poor dessicant. It's better than nothing but if you can get your hands on a good amount of silica gel that would be better. Dell ships their pc's with a big bag of silica gel in the box. Check your local best buy and see if they have any that they pulled from pc boxes that you can have. If not, you might be able to get it at home depot or Lowe's or maybe a shipping store like the UPS or FedEx store.

yeah.. i wanna believe the water damage marker activated didnt cause some serious damage in the note, ...as our friend kintwofan mentioned, may be the damage was only the speaker/microphone.. anyway im gonna do the rice thing....

In what water did you take photos on? Secondly, do not turn the phone on now, try keeping it under running fan or blower(not hot) for couple of hours. It should take some considerable amount of time and if it doesn't not, try fastbooting and restoring the TA to avoid warranty or if didn't unlock the bootloader, just take it to the sony's service center.
solved
it worked phone started and everything is working fine now ............. :fingers-crossed:
SONY TROLLING ME
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR YOUR REPLYS
aha my friends has z1c to use during Songkran festival. WHEN he came back home he noticed that speaker isn't play loud sound and the touchscreen dead half side down. So he got his phone packed and stored in rice container same as op but for "1 weeks" without using it.So after week he start using again and everything is fine.

it will fail again, because the corrosion probably is still going on, you need to take it apart and properly dry it. it is not possible to fully dry it otherwise

@Bakisha
hi.
just wanted to chck with you again.. I got a weird problem again.
My phones back camera was not working. giving errors. my friend had a Xperia Play for parts.
I removed that Camera Module and replaced with mine. It started working fine. Cool. I Tried to switch on the Phone while holding the Battery by hand against the Board so I don't close the phone and then see what happened (Worked or not) but it was working so I though success.
I closed the housing of the phone !! Damn phone starts but Black Screen !! Vibrates but black screen !
I kept fiddling and though the flex had gone but no.
I re opened the phones removed the Camera Module.. and Their it starts working again!! I close the phone so I can use it without camera and Boom .. it doesn't work again .. RED Led Blinking !! Phone not recognized by Windows !!
where did I go wrong
PS I had replaced the Flex Cable a few months back and My Phone WAS PERFECTLY working until I opened to Replace The Camera Module !!

Hmmm. i would guess flex cable again, but red blinking could also mean problem with battery (or maybe even flex is even short-curcuit it somewhere)
Do you have some old broken flex that you know that it have working screen? And try with/without camera module
Or try with assembled (closed) part where is screen but keep motherboard part unclosed and try to power up
Just a tip: If you have black screen (and it vibrates ones when powering up) try again to power up but in fastbott or flash mode. If it enter in fastboot mode, but still it give you black screen, then it means that motherboard is working but does not have connections to display
Try to check battery voltage somehow. It must have above 3.2V to be able to charge it.

I thought to update you on this.
my friend had a spare xperia play so I thought to make use of it but its flex cable had problem and screen was Fuzzy and Snowy when switched on.
I believe my flex cable doesn't have problem ,, its the Connector where the Flex cable connects to the Motherboard. I am using my own mobiles "LCD and Digiter portion and his Mobiles motherboard portion" and everything works fine.
but when I connect my mobile to his Flex cable and motherboard portion it doesn't work at all.. same Purple Light when the Kernel boots but nothing on the screen. any suggestions how to fix the motherboard connector or maybe a hardbrick !
