Hi all, just a thought, since GN has mods for Kernel, ROM, Casing, covers .. etc has anyone encountered any hardware MOD for Samsung Galaxy Nexus ? like those you can open up the phone and simple removing some chip and replacing it with another e.g. storage from 16gb to 32gb.. internal RAM from 1gb to 3 gb .. etc like a PC..
p.s. after flashing ROMS/Kernels for a few months, thinking of trying something new
we wouldn't need to upgrade phone each year if the said things can be done easily
besides a phone is not a pc, and i'm pretty sure not everyone wanna mess their $700 device in such way
I bought a cable for USB sticks and use chainfires USB app. But sorry bud not sure you could pull out that sandisk chip and throw a bigger one in. Not yet at least

thanks all guess after seeing so many kind of MODs out there in this forum, kinda hope its possible..

No it's not possible.
Even if you did manage to open it, the chips would still be soldered to the MB.

These phones are not meant to be generally user-serviceable (and especially not user-upgradeable).
Use the phone how it is and you'll be happy. When its outdated, sell it and buy a new model that suits your needs.

ive just notice that samsung have brought out a pocket pc device called the omnia. its got a 600 mhz processor and somewhere around 128mb memory. comes with wm 6. they come in 2 versions 8gb and 16gb. wondering if this device will be suported here and worked on for custom roms. ive had a shot of one and found it to be a bit sluggish with samsungs rom. my wizard is much more responsive than the omnia (with all the tweaks ofcoarse.
im due an upgrade on t-mobile in december and i really like the phone, but only if i can ditch samsungs rom and replace it with a custom one.

First of all.. Sorry because my english is not so good..
Okay, well my question is.. I have a samsung galaxy s3 sprint of 16 Gb, It's already rooted, I have been using Cyanogenmod the nightlies last versions, but now I want to swap my sd card with my internal memory, I have already try it with Free GS3 the one of Clark44, it works! but i dont like the syle of the stock samsung galaxy . So did you know any good room were you can swap the memories, have a good style room and all that cool staff of rooms like DSP manager, etc? Thanks!
I have bought android chinese mobile phone and I need someone to guide me on how to install custom ROM on it. I have been searching for the last 4 days on all websites that support chinese clone phones trying to find a ROM for my phone but I have realized that my phone is not a clone of any other phone, it is simply chinese android phone without any brand name or private fake brand names.
The phone has the following specs:
Chipset: MTK6595, CPU: 2.3GHZ Oct-Core, Ram: 4GB, ROM: 40GB , Android:4.4.3 (with lots of chinese apps)
I can install custom recovery and root the phone, this is not a problem at all. The problem I'm facing is finding a ROM for my phone. So, What I need is, just a ROM that will work on my phone. Since my phone doesn't belong to any brand name!
Q- Can I just flash any ROM of those chinese ROMS that are available on the internet for MTK6595 without changing the current kernel on the phone? as I believe all chinese phones that run same MTK chipset number has the same interface and everything else!
Q- Is there a universal ROM that can just be installed on any device without touching the kernel (just like installing windows on your computer)?
In your reply, please make sure your reply is detailed and don't make me guess steps in between.
Thank you
Hmmmmmm...what kind of your phone name? It's strange because mtk6595 usually came with 3gb ram. Where you buy it?
I am very sure that your phone's specs are untrue. Because I have a similar phone as well, which I was planning to use as replacement for my Ecoo E04 Aurora which has a few problems.
The specs promised were quite similar to yours. It looks like a clone of HTC M9, and also has the rotating camera from Oppo's N1 Mini. But the phone's specs are NOT even close to those mentioned.
You can download CPU ID and then choose the option of validating the specs, and you'll find out that the processor is MT6572, it is only a dual core phone with a RAM of 512MB, and as you'd know already, the screen is not FHD, but only 960x540.
My friend, we were scammed. A lot of people bought these phones from AliExpress, GizChina and other sites. All of them have been duds. Names are similar to these: TTEM, G+, MPIE, etc.
Protip: Don't buy any Chinese phone of a brand that you cannot find on Google, because c'mon, if Google can't find it, it's surely something they DON'T want to advertise/promote.
Also, if you'd still want to flash a custom ROM, just find something for MT6752, and it'll work fine.
My device got riddled with viruses, thanks to my dad falling for all those ads which ask you to install antiviruses and speed boosters. I had to factory reset my phone, and in that process, I lost the original ROM as well. YES, this phone IS that ****ty! Just get a better ROM.
Peace.

Hello,
First of all, I'm sorry if this isn't the part of the forum that I should put this question on.
I want to change my phone, coming from a galaxy s2. I need your help, I can't decide if the HTC M8 is enough of an upgrade or should I go for the galaxy S6.
Can you please tell me your experience with this phone? (gaming, battery life, photos, roms development)
I mostly use the phone for games, web browsing, music and some productivity apps.
So is HTC M8 a good choice due to its price ? or I should go with an other phone?
Thank you for taking the time to help me in my dilemma.
No one can answer your question for you, since only you know how are you using your phones and what are you looking for in a phone.
In my personal experience, the M8 is an excellent phone. Compared to S2, it's from another planet. Compared to S6 - I don't know, I did not have a chance to play with S6. Sure, the edge gimmick is neat, but then the top of the line variant goes for as much as 1300 Euros, ouch. I don't think I will ever pay that much for a phone, I mean you can get a good TV or PC for less.
So, if you don't care about the price, then sure you can try the newest toys, but if you are minding your budget, I would say that the M8 is a perfect upgrade from S2.
As said above!!! Compared to s2; m8 is a beast.

M8 all the way dude! It feels and looks so gorgeous! It runs like a beast! I just got it and have absolutely NO issues with it so far. Also, you've managed to run the S2 all the way up until now? Wow. That's amazing. I tend to upgrade once a year.
i change my phone every month
i had the note 4 i got this m8 after using note 4 for one month
the m8 is fantastic phone i will keep it wile
i am waiting for beast htc one max 2
i love huge 6 screen
I'm also wondering to buy M8, but don't know if it is possible to move application data onto SD card without root?

That depends on the application. Some apps can be moved to the SD card, for some this option is greyed out. Some can write their data onto the card, others have hard time with it. As far as I know, it's not specifically the M8 issue, it seems to be the general Android thing.

On older Android versions (for example 2.3) I could in Settings -> Applications move only Data (of some game) on SD card.
Is it now again possible?

No, I haven't seen such an option on my phone. Some apps allow you to change their data storage location from within the app though.
You can`t write to the external Sd card on kitkat+ (you can with root), but apps will install onto your internal storage anyway and they need to have an option built into the app itself to transfer the data to your external sd. If you like gaming, I would advise you get the 32gb m8 since my 16gb m8 only has about 5gb free even after a factory reset. As far as the m8 vs s6 debate, why wouldn`t you get the s6?, I really enjoy using my m8, sense is super smooth, visually pleasing and batterylife stretches into the second day with average use, but the s6 is a newer device and it`s shaping up to be a very good package. Notably the camera is undoubtedly better than the m8, and even the low light is pretty outstanding, its only downfalls are batterylife and it`s lack of a micro sd slot, but the battery should get you through a full day of use. Overall it`s your choice but you might feel more familiar with touchwiz since you already own a samsung device, though if you really enjoy gaming and movies, the HTC might be superior with better batterylife, speakers (I never realized how much of a difference stereo speakers could make, but now it`s hard to imagine not having them!) and headphone out quality.
Hello there,
I was wondering if there could be a chance that I could swap ram chips between my S9 and the Note 9.
They have both the same SoC but with different ram chips on the very top of the SoC, I know you can physically swap the ram chips but I was worried if the Stock software could boot the phone without any changes made to it. I was also considering a full SoC swap, maybe that could increase the success rate of the SoC not dying.
Thanks in advance
short answer no. Long answer will be posted soon

Never seen this, has it been done before with other models?

Not that I know of. That's why I'm asking. Of this was possible it would open up some DIY ram upgrades for a lot of phones if it works.
I've seen similar things before, with the old Sony UX UMPC, they figured out to solder another 1GB or RAM on top of the existing 1GB RAM

Nice, it's basically the same thing on the S9 in theory. You de-solder the SoC from the original phone, you get the SoC (the same SoC with different Ram capacity)that you want from an other phone and then you solder it on the original phone. I was wondering if there was a software compatibility issue. You could de-solder the Dram chip that is located on top of the SoC but I think that's a little bit more complicated. I have never done this, I've only seen photos of the motherboard of the S9 and how it's made.
