Hello,
First of all, I'm sorry if this isn't the part of the forum that I should put this question on.
I want to change my phone, coming from a galaxy s2. I need your help, I can't decide if the HTC M8 is enough of an upgrade or should I go for the galaxy S6.
Can you please tell me your experience with this phone? (gaming, battery life, photos, roms development)
I mostly use the phone for games, web browsing, music and some productivity apps.
So is HTC M8 a good choice due to its price ? or I should go with an other phone?
Thank you for taking the time to help me in my dilemma.
No one can answer your question for you, since only you know how are you using your phones and what are you looking for in a phone.
In my personal experience, the M8 is an excellent phone. Compared to S2, it's from another planet. Compared to S6 - I don't know, I did not have a chance to play with S6. Sure, the edge gimmick is neat, but then the top of the line variant goes for as much as 1300 Euros, ouch. I don't think I will ever pay that much for a phone, I mean you can get a good TV or PC for less.
So, if you don't care about the price, then sure you can try the newest toys, but if you are minding your budget, I would say that the M8 is a perfect upgrade from S2.
As said above!!! Compared to s2; m8 is a beast.

M8 all the way dude! It feels and looks so gorgeous! It runs like a beast! I just got it and have absolutely NO issues with it so far. Also, you've managed to run the S2 all the way up until now? Wow. That's amazing. I tend to upgrade once a year.
i change my phone every month
i had the note 4 i got this m8 after using note 4 for one month
the m8 is fantastic phone i will keep it wile
i am waiting for beast htc one max 2
i love huge 6 screen
I'm also wondering to buy M8, but don't know if it is possible to move application data onto SD card without root?

That depends on the application. Some apps can be moved to the SD card, for some this option is greyed out. Some can write their data onto the card, others have hard time with it. As far as I know, it's not specifically the M8 issue, it seems to be the general Android thing.

On older Android versions (for example 2.3) I could in Settings -> Applications move only Data (of some game) on SD card.
Is it now again possible?

No, I haven't seen such an option on my phone. Some apps allow you to change their data storage location from within the app though.
You can`t write to the external Sd card on kitkat+ (you can with root), but apps will install onto your internal storage anyway and they need to have an option built into the app itself to transfer the data to your external sd. If you like gaming, I would advise you get the 32gb m8 since my 16gb m8 only has about 5gb free even after a factory reset. As far as the m8 vs s6 debate, why wouldn`t you get the s6?, I really enjoy using my m8, sense is super smooth, visually pleasing and batterylife stretches into the second day with average use, but the s6 is a newer device and it`s shaping up to be a very good package. Notably the camera is undoubtedly better than the m8, and even the low light is pretty outstanding, its only downfalls are batterylife and it`s lack of a micro sd slot, but the battery should get you through a full day of use. Overall it`s your choice but you might feel more familiar with touchwiz since you already own a samsung device, though if you really enjoy gaming and movies, the HTC might be superior with better batterylife, speakers (I never realized how much of a difference stereo speakers could make, but now it`s hard to imagine not having them!) and headphone out quality.

Hello,
I was so close to buy the Desire until I saw the ad of the Galaxy S..
Amazing screen (normal under sunlight), more powerful cpu/gpu.. but its Samsung! and after reading lots of comments they said that Samsung is crap! is it right? Why?
If its only the UI that is crap can I root it and install another room?
So, Should I wait for the Galaxy S or get the Desire?
Thanks.
DESIRE without doubt
It all depends on what you want. I have had Samsung phones in the past and they were pretty good. Those types of responses remind me of students in college who say "Yea...that professor is hard and rude...don't take him!'
IMHO the best thing to do is get some hands-on time with both of them if possible. Even try them out for a couple of days. That is the only way you will actually know which one is right for you.

What do u mean by that?
They are the same super phones but with some advantages to the Galaxy, right?
I will use my phone for apps, games, multimedia, browsing etc. (not for business..) so I think both those phones are the top for these kind of stuff..
I just dont understand why everyone hates so much Samsung..

In other words...use your buyers-remorse, return/exchange period to try out both phones. Do research when the Samsung Galaxy S comes out and see what others have to say on the forums.
The worst thing you can do is be biased towards one or the other. If you believe what others say about Samsung and how sh*tty they are, then once you actually do see the phone...you will try to find some sort of discrepancy with it (its simple psychology )
Yes, the Galaxy has a bigger screen and a "rumored" faster processor. However, until the final product is made and released...the hardware and software can still change.

Samsung are fully behind their new Bada OS. They've stated that only 20% or less of their devices from now on will run Android and I only expect that to go down. That and HTC are the de facto hardware standard for all Android devices.
Haha you have no clue.
Actually, 50% of Samsung phones will be Android and another 33% will be Bada. The rest is for Windows Phones and other crap.
In response to the thread question: I chose the Desire, because the Galaxy S doesn't have a flash for the camera.
One (and the only!) annoyance with the Desire is the limited internal storage for applications. It's only 140MB. You can install applications to the SD card, but it will still go down. According to Google, the option to install to the SD card will come to Android 'soon'.
The Galaxy S will also have the better screen I think. That's because the Desire's screen is not full 800x480, because it uses a pixel layout with only two sub-pixels instead of three, which makes it seem a little bit blurry (but really just a little bit).
And last, but not least, I think HTC's software is probably better than Samsung's. Sense (even if you don't like the launcher) is a very useful add-on (e.g. the much better dialer) and I am not sure about whether Samsung is able to compete in that regard.
I chose the Desire, because the Galaxy S doesn't have a flash for the camera.

It seems that you choose the Desire just because the galaxys doesnt have flash! even though the screen+cpu+720p video recording and still only for the lack of flash you dont choose the galaxys!?
What im gonna do is to wait till its released and read the indepth review about the phone.
Thanks for the replies goys.. i choose to wait.
I feel compelled to point out a few things in this discussion.
First, assuming that "buyer's remorse" is a global standard is a mistake. In many countries, including Sweden where I'm based, you can return products for up to 30 days after a purchase with the caveat that the package/seal is unbroken. This applies to electronics. This means that everybody needs to check up on their local regulations and that of the retailer before you go out and buy something, expecting to be able to fiddle with it and then just return it.
Secondly, calling Bada an OS is a misnomer. It's a platform. A platform that can be placed on many different OS's. To me, it sounds like Samsung will be releasing several phones with Bada on top of their own proprietary operating system until they can either see a clear winner of the OS market share battle or until the OS's catch up with what they want and know they can offer the market in terms of functionality. Of course, where the boundary between the platform and the OS goes is kind of an unknown, but I would be surprised if the Galaxy S didn't have an Android version of Bada placed on top of it - think of it as Samsung's Sense.
Thirdly and lastly, I think there is a lot of displeasure with Samsung among smartphone users because they have a tendency to both promise more than they can deliver and after the first few months of a new smartphone release quit updating the software. I own an Omnia i900 and an Omnia HD i8910 and speak from experience on this front. Mind you, the devices they put out are generally top-notch, but Samsung has a problem managing expectations.
My Desire is currently my main phone, but I'm still interested in the Galaxy S and will be waiting to see what the consumer verdict on it is once it comes out. As others have said, HTC offers a very useful overlay in Sense, the Desire is already rooted (you should never assume a phone will ever be rooted when you buy it, but it's more likely that HTC will, and in the case of the Desire it's already a fact) and, more than anything, the Desire development community is huge, active and dedicated. So at the end of the day, opting to wait several more months just to get a larger screen and a promise of 720p video recording does have its downsides.
I'm pretty interested in the Galaxy S, will almost certainly get one soon after release and see how I like it, so I can give a users comparison of both nearer the time. As per usual I'll keep whichever suits my use best.
Regards the pros for the Galaxy S, these are the main things as I see them, a few mentioned earlier and a few not yet mentioned:
- screen will be considerably better, more battery efficient, better sunlight legibility, larger, won't have the subpixels issue
- better battery capacity
- 8 or 16GB internal memory in addition to card slot
- the stills camera in all situations not requiring a flash is likely to be considerably better than the Desire's
- 720P video capture
- divx/xvid/mkv support out of the box, with certification for 720P avi playback
Worth noting that the last two there may yet come to the Desire, since they have been rumoured to be coming via firmware update for some time.
The main positives for the Desire is Root, more active Dev community, better HTC support in terms of FW upgrades/hotfixes etc.
Lets say it gets rooted, Will I be able to install into the Galaxy S the ROM of the Desire, so I can take advantage of the active dev community?
Thanks.
In theory, yes, you can. But there will be issues, which means it may not be worth it.
I think not, maybe, but different drivers..it would take time for sure!

Yes, just because of the flash. I absolutely need it, that's why I chose the Desire.
Other than the missing flash, the Galaxy looks quite good.
@NZtechfreak
Your points are right, except for the part about the camera. The Desire uses a camera module made by Samsung. The Galaxy will very likely use the exact same camera module. And of course, at night, it will be useless without the flash.
Galaxy S may be better hardware-wise, but..
It's possible that Galaxy S won't have flash (but there are some rumors it will), so that is a dealbreaker for me (the reason why I switched from the Hero).
The other (more important) reason is that previous Android phones from Samsung had almost no scene development going on. Just compare the Dream/Hero scene to the Galaxy i7500.
Last but not least Samsungs support and bugfixing is worse that HTCs (yes, it is possible ).
That is why I decided to go with the Desire. If you don't mind waiting I would suggest to wait for the Nexus Two.
Or you can wait until the Google I/O Conference...

Hi all, been reading the Desire threads with interest as I'm able to upgrade in July, currently have a Blackstone, and at the mo it's most definately looking like the Desire will be my new phone, looks like a superb piece of kit, but, I need to use tethering on whatever handset I have, and up until now thought I would have to do this on a Desire via USB, because you can't do it wirelessly unless you root first.
Everything I have read here and anywhere else up until I read the above post says the Desire needs rooting to do this.
So, is it already rooted out of the box or not ? I'm puzzled !
Comments from a tester of RC1 firmware Galaxy S in an Australian forum:
- much faster in use than Desire
- much better screen (brightness, vividness & outdoors visibility)
- better battery life time than Desire with stock ROM (no hacks)
- camera is only ok
- very responsive touch
Just FYI. I think both phones are great.
two phones are great and the galaxy s does have super amoled, altho desire have amoled, super amoled is better under the sun. but somehow i don't like how the galaxy looks. it looks - plain, boring..
hopefully htc will release the update when froyo is out together with some fixes and 720p recording.
The only Android phone I would buy is Google branded or HTC. Because they have much more experience with Android than others, and they are more connected together. Also updates will be much more regular for Desire, since it is almost N1 clone. And community for HTC Android phones is much bigger than for Samsung.
Hi,
Next week it's finally time to buy a new phone and I have a few questions I hope you guys can help me with.
I pretty much had my mind made up to get a HTC Desire with a 12 month contract, and go for a top of the line (hopefully HTC) dual core phone next year.
But now the Desire S is coming within 2 months (expected) and i'm beginning to doubt.
After searching here at XDA I found 2 major issues people seem to have with the original Desire.
The lack of multitouch support and the small internal memory.
I really like the design of the original Desire, especially the hardware buttons and trackpad. But the Desire S isn't ugly either.
And ofcourse the Desire S fixes the 2 problems and bring better specs. But it will also be a lot more expensive, around 150 euro extra with a 12 month contract I think.
I also have to walk around with my old Touch HD for an exta 2 months
So finally my questions are: How much of a limitation are the dualtouch screen and internal memory?
How much/which apps are unusable due to lack of multitouch? Only games or, more importantly, other apps as well?
And with App2SD and more possibilities after rooting, do you still have problems with the internal memory?
As mentioned I have a Touch HD now, I don't have many application installed and I don't play games on it.
This could change with android seeing as there are much more possibilities and quality apps, but I still don't see myself gaming extensively on my phone.
Using search I could not find a answer, only that some have 100 or even 200 apps installed. Which to me sounds like more than enough.
I would very much appriciate your thoughts!
Thanks
Heyo,
My short answer would be, get the original desire.
Long answer:
If you are going to root your phone and possibly even install a custom rom you would get almost unlimited amount of space for your apps with the apps2sd solutions around nowadays. Well... maybe not unlimited, but more than enough space anyways As it comes to multitouch, I own a desire and have never found myself thinking "i wish i had multitouch." As far as i know it's not really needed for anything (except for google maps tilting etc. whoop-de-doo.)
I also noticed that you mentioned preferring the hard buttons. Let me tell you, the touch buttons on my previous phone (wildfire) were driving me CRAZY!!! I accidentally pushed the back button while writing a message so many times it wasn't even tragically funny any more. Just so you know, when you do that, you have to write the whole message again... which is nice!
All in all, the desire S seems like a good phone, but the overall opinion about it seems to be that it's sort of a inbetween phone. The original desire does not have the appeal it once had because it's not new and shiny any more and the dual core HTC phones are yet to be announced.
Thanks for your input. And yes I'm definitely going to install custom roms, maybe not right away but as soon as I get bored with the original one. I flashed all kinds of roms on my Touch HD as well (thanks xda-developers!). If that pretty much fixes the memory problem that would be great.
As for multi touch, glad to hear from a desire use that does not have problems with that. While reading these forums I came across multiple threads showing Youtube movies of the Axis crossing issue and complaining how they have so much trouble with it. Do you play any games which require multiple touches at the same time and don't you have any problems with that either?
Anybody else care to share their opinion? It would be great to hear from a few other desire owners what their experiences are.
I'm voting S. No point in getting a one year old phone when you won't get dual core phones in less than a ~year either way. By that time your contract for this phone would expire.
Desire S is not in the upgrade path for the Desire vanilla owners, but for users like you, which don't have either.
People are sharing misinformation regarding S that it is just plain ridiculous. I guess it is desperate fight in favor of their investment
The device is clearly better than the original Desire, and not only in the terms of internal memory. The only reason why you possibly might go after Desire vanilla is the AMOLED screen, which you couldn't get either way now.

Well, if you have enough money to spend then yes I would agree. But I'm a student and the Desire S will cost me an extra 150 euros easy. Which I could spend on other things as well.
So the reason why I'm trying to determine the impact of the low memory and dualtouch is to see if the "issues" with the Desire are bad enough to spend that extra money on a newer device, while I will be upgrading to a dual core next year anyway. Or can I last 12 months with an older, but still pretty good, smartphone that has some limitations.
And as a Desire owner, could you provide your take on the low internal memory and dualtouch issues please
Only reason I would choose original Desire over S is price of phone on contract. If the difference is over 100€ I would buy original Desire. Especially if you plan to root and install custom roms which can overcome Desire's problem with low memory.

I'm a college student with some 9 exams to grad, so I know what you're talking about
I don't know what multitouch is, so I can't miss it either.
Low internal space is no problem, you have plenty of ways to circumvent this, and decent SD card outperforms nand either way. The only thing I can imagine which might eat your internal away are stupid Gameloft's games which don't work on Desire either way like they should due to poor gpu performance. I have some 70 apps on my phone and 100mb free on my internal storage.
Desire S packs second generation Qualcomm cpu which rectifies the first gen shortcomings, has moar internal storage, moar memory and on top of that, has better battery combined with more energy efficient cpu. This sounds like a win win situation to me, while clearly the internal memory issue is not the only one addressed like people claim.

@erklat, thanks for the info. And I won't tell you about the dualtouch/multitouch issue on the Desire. If you haven't noticed by now than it's safe to say that you are not bothered by it. If I explain it, you might start to notice this little shortcoming
Edit: Erklat, you say you have 70 apps and 100mb storage left. Is that by only using the app2sd option in Froyo or do you have a custom rom with more move to SD card options as well?
@monsterfly, yes I'm beginning to think so as well. Also because no one seems to notice the dualtouch limitation here.

Get the Desire S if you are looking for a gaming device (Minigore, Mini Squadron, Gun Bros and basically any game that uses dual analog controls won't work it's best - and the lack of multitouch is painfully obvious). Otherwise, the only place where you'll find Desire's dualtouch lacking is in the newest Google maps.
As for the memory/battery issue... The battery on the Desire doesn't last more than a day of use (unless it's in airplane mode and with the screen off). The internal storage is severely lacking with the default software, but resizing partitions and/or apps2sd make the Desire a Beast.
A 100€ is a lot of money for a student (I'm still in high school ), however, if you're going to be able to afford a dual core HTC next year or so, is money really such a problem? (especially if the other way to spend the $$ is getting drunk )
Either way, it's up to you. Personally, if I had the money, and not the Desire, I would probably go for the Desire Z, but choose what fits you best.

@number22, thanks for your reaction. I'm not looking for a gaming device so I'm glad to hear yet another person is not having issues with the lack of multitouch.
And I'm familiar with the battery not lasting long, my current Touch HD doesn't last that long either. About a day and a half with moderate usage, so I'm already used to charging every night. This seems to be the case with most smartphones nowadays anyway.
And I will be able to afford a high end phone next year because I will take a 2 year contract. But to me there isn't one high end phone now or coming in the next few months that is worth that 2 year contract. So I want a 1 year phone to keep me happy till next year without spending too much money. And I think the original Desire will be able to do that.

so he could see the additional money spend as precaution for becoming an alcoholic if not yet .
I guess I would go with the Desire S (because of more storage space and I did not root my Desire yet) but agree on the fact that 150Euros is quite alot. On Multitouch: I play some games (miniSquadron, Gun Bros) and on neither of them I face a real "big" issue, maybe it would work better with multi but it works fine as it is as well.
@chrismast, haha I suppose you can look at it that way. And thanks for the info on multitouch, great to hear.
low internal storage is not a problem any apps2sd+ or data2sd solves it perfectly
battery usage ? with custom rom (snq kernel on InsertCoin ROM) i get 3-4 days with low use and 1 day with heavy use. ppl say that with couttstech kernel it is even better.
multitouch. you will experience it only in games (and google maps)
but most games (good games actually) have the option to use 2 d-pads diagonally which makes it playable on the desire not every game though (for example i cant play pes 2011 cause the buttons are on the same height as d-pad)
but here is a funny fact. do some search on desire forums here on xda, topic name was 'is desire a good smartphone'. some guy claimed there that he could play all multitouch games easily, i specifically asked him to double check some games and he said that he plays this games without any problems while i cant (one of them was pes2011) he haid a PVT4 erasesize 2000 version (SLCD of course) and i have a PVT3 version. but in theory they have the exaclty same hardware so i cant tell wheter it actually worked better on his phone or maybe he just couldnt see the issue (dunno how would that be possible)
I'm a desire user, but I'd say if money isn't a problem then it'd be best to get the desire s, unless you're willing to play around with it a bit to get that extra storage.
Personally, I can't leave those hardware keys behind, I'll be waiting around for a dual core with them (if not, maybe a quad core later ) and the desire has a great community behind it, with a nice variety of ROMs. The multitouch isn't bad at all if you don't play too many games, I play a lot of games requiring multitouch and haven't had any problems except for a couple (multi-touch 2 player air hockey, and another one I forget that wasn't fun anyway)
Also note that you do have "multi-touch". It's not like the X10 before it's update that had to use zoom buttons. Only a few things that require real multi-touch don't work with the Desire. This basically comes down to the google maps tilt thing and dual player games (on the same phone like airhockey). You aren't going to miss it. For just one year the Desire will be fine. My own contract ends in about one year from now.
Thanks for all the usefull answers guys. I think i'll be getting a Desire next week
My opinion:
Dual-Touch: I've played many games on my Desire (mostly tower defense games and Sudoku, which wouldn't require multi-touch). I only noticed an issue with this when I loaded the new Google Maps and couldn't use some of the new features. Tbh, you wouldn't normally want to use that feature other than to show off to your friends what your awesome new phone can do.
For my touch-screen gaming, I mainly use my iPad (and soon my Motorola XOOM! ).
Low internal memory: When I was using the default ROM, it was pretty terrible. I'd have to clear internet and Facebook cache all the time just trying to get another couple of MB of storage to be able to sync (when <15 MB remaining on internal, nothing syncs including email, IM clients, Facebook push notifications, etc). Even using FroYo's built-in Move to SD feature, there was not nearly enough space on my phone. After I installed LeeDroid (with A2SD+), however, things went so smooth. The ROM is miles faster, slightly better battery optimization (still a daily battery, but now lasts maybe 2-4 hours longer until needing to charge) and most importantly: apps can be moved to ext3 partition on SD card allowing LOADS more space on internal memory!
For the multi-touch it depends what game.
For games like Heavy Gunner with both controls at the same axis, yeah.
Int memory as mentioned, has been addressed from rooting (if you don't root, you're losing a lot of goodiebags )
They both aren't dual cores so I'd rather not get either one, lol.
But if it's between the two, S is the right one to get....

That's not many games
Playing gameloft games, fruit ninja, anything that uses multi-touch, enjoy the random actions. (especially games like Dungeon Defender, Pocket Legends..etc)
If you don't play games, then 70% of your multi-touch issue has been addressed
Google maps? Use another GPS app. I'm using PAPAGO for myself...works fine
Hello Wildfire S users i have simple question!!!
Ive Own Blackstone and now i decide to move to Android platform but im tired of spending alot of money for a device and im thinking to spend this time smart my money so befor years i buy the Blackstone for around 650 Euro i will not do this mistake anymore to spend so much money for a device and right now im planing to buy Wildfire S the reason i want this device is..
Because i like the design and i like the size of it.. i think its Smart device and on the same time its super cool on hand and its just perfect size for me.
My question is right now with cooked ROM`s witch is the latest version of Android that Wildfire S can handle?
And do you are happy with the device itself?
I want my mp3 ringtones to sound cool and i think the wildfire S camera is cool also and make good pictures.
I don`t like the speakers of the Blackstone and i don`t like the camera because like you know there is not Flash and you can do images at dark places!!!
My question is what you think about the Wildfire S do you are happy with your purchase.. how is the Sound from the Speakers.. and etc and most importmantly..
Im planing imideately after i buy it to root it and do whatever is posible on the device but because i dont own it right now and im not familiar with Android alot i don`t know about what kind of Builds can hande.. for example in the future do you think that Wildfire S can have cooked SENSE 3.0 ?
Thank you in advance
Hello My Friend,
I am the ex Iphone user last one which I sold my 4g , and I jumped on android , wildfire s.
I like the phone how it is specially the size simply to use most of the apps that i had on iphone I have on my htc , so if size of the phone is priority.
I don't like that I have S On but soon that will be solved , why not give it a try the only thing if you want to play with it make shure it has s off , so you can do upgrades downgrades etc.
For the sound I can say its very good clear sound and the other thing compare to iPhone you can imediatly put any song that you have as ringtone, I was amassed how easy was to import the contacts calendars and sms from other phone .
And the batery I think is a bit small if you use internet is not so satisfied.
Today for everyone is to have things that you can do job in easy as simple as it possible.
I hope that you will like it.
Cheers
The wildfire s is a good little phone, the battery life is as short as most other phones.
Internal memory is small, but after rooting and using various apps it is easy to force move fixed apps to the memory card.
I use my phone every day, it's like a portable pc, and suits my needs very well.

Hi Tsalta;
well..to be honest I have it since some time now and regret a bit the choice.
I have rooted the device which already require an external device so you need either to purchase it or to find someone in your area who can help you out..you can find list of people on XDA forum.
The wildfire S so far is lacking focus from dev teams and support regarding available custom ROMs. in this forum there are a few, but compared to other devices the choice if by far smaller.
It might improve in the future, but it also might not..at the end I love its size, but low internal memory and ARM6 processor are underperforming compared to other devices (which on the other hand are bigger in size).
Come on..angry birds do not play well on the device..this already tells the capability of its hardware..
Internal memory is a continuous struggle..it's ridiculous, you love widgets (which are the reason why I choose android over IOS) but then you cannot really run many of them as you are out of internal memory very soon!
battery life is normal for a smartphone.
camera is just OKish..but still, is a phone and not a camera..so is ok for me.
It supports microSD of 32G, so I have plenty of music and the internal player is very good (lack of eq, but still a good player) and this for me is important as I cycle a lot and always use the music app.
Sygic is running well on this smartphone; so " turn by turn" navigation app in case of emergency is very well supported (eat up a lot of battery as in all other smartphones)..
Also sport apps like endomondo and Sportstracker are working very well
If you want a device of perfect size, that feels good in your hand, cheap, with a nice screen just pick this.
If you are looking for performance, or think you will get addicted to widgets and apps, maybe you should check out something else (that will be bigger and more expensive) or you will get frustrated as at the end with the wildfire S you always need to care about internal memory (until better custom ROMs will be released)
I might sell mine..hahahaha
Thanks guys for the comment ONLY one thing bodering me!!!
You are telling that right now Wildfire S can`t be ROTET i mean S-OFF permanently ?
Only this reason can stop me buy this device because after i install few apps my storage will be full and.... i cannot use the device for what i need!!!
Because im new to the Android official devices i only boot Android on my old Blackstone..
please let me know this is very importmantly
Thank you in advance
If you have some spare cash go for desire s. I'm a wildfire s user but don't mind upgrading cause I cook my own roms. and it's quite fast than stock.
Dude if i have cash i will buy Sensation instead of Desire
But because i don`t have and even if i have i don`t want to spend to much money again for Device this is the reason i stop on Wildfire S
The size and specs are exactly for me and i think is good enought for daily use but if can`t be unlocked i mean ROTED then.... WTF its useless
If I have cash I will buy sensation s, will there be, no.
Hey..of curse you can root the wildfire s.
I rooted mine.
You need to do it via a piece of hardware which either you purchase or look for somebody that has it to help you out.
I serched in the xda forum and found a guy in my area which had it, and with 12€ he used it to root my phone.
Once rooted is better.
On the other hand, as said..if you are looking for great performance You might be better satisfied by another phone (bigger and more expansive)
I own an Amazon fire phone, im old user of cyanogen mod on all my past phones (moto defy, moto g, moto g 2014) and im in love with front facing speakers (big media consumption) also i play alot games on my phone and casualy taking some photos (big fan of filters tho)
I cant decide witch phone should i buy between these two beauty's. Im planing on instaling google play edition software on m8 if i get too many cons from m9, im concern about the overheating situation and throttling.
Can someone replay a screanshoot with antutu or gheekbench score from the m9? Im curious about IT
Also i have another question, i Heard about 6.0 add a Nice function for the micro sd to make IT as internal memory, is IT true? Thank you for your time!

Here's a capture from a Geekbench 3 test I just did on my M9.
I have both an M8 and an M9 and I would say that the Snapdragon 801 in the M8 gets much hotter than the 810 in the M9. I don't find that my M9 gets particularly hot at all, compared to the Snapdragon 801-based phones like the One M8/Galaxy S5/LG G3 (all of which I have on my desk at home). Besides, a throttled M9 is probably still as fast as a full-speed M8.
Yes, Android 6.0 on the M8 and M9 allows you to format your MicroSD as adoptable storage, which treats internal and MicroSD memory as a single large pool.

M9 all day. M8 was great. M9, despite the bad rap it got in reviews and other online discussions, is better. I've had both and was pleased with both. M8 on a good custom rom probably has better battery life, though.
Im glad people enjoy this phone and gives me Hope for a brighter future, i see a smal gap between these two devices, im still undecided because all the pro features from the both sides, maybe money will Be the Most important factor for my choise.the m8 is starting from 250€ and the m9 400€

Well...is that's the price difference, I'd be tempted to go with the 8
I owned the m8 and sold it cause I was low on cash. Later on I made a trade for an m9 since I missed the m8 so much. I have only had the m9 for a week so far but I have no complaints other than I noticed an echo on my one voice call I've made so far. Never had that on the m8 but could have been just a single incident. It's slightly faster than the m8. No overheating so far. The battery is about the same as the m8. For 250 vs 400 I'd probably pick the m8.

Hi guys, I'm currently using a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge which I am strongly considering switching to a HTC 10 due to the fact that there is no root for my current device nor does it look like there will be for the foreseeable future. I know no device is perfect so I have some questions about this device prior to making the switch. If you guys can answer them I'd greatly appreciate it.
1. Is there any way to get rid of the red/pink tint on the screen? I've heard at certain angles it has a pink tint but I've also seen some users say it was due to the glue.
2. Is there anyway to make a private photo/video gallery on an SD Card with Root and S-Off? I can't do it on my S7 edge it only lets me do it on the internal storage problem is there is only 23 gigs available out the box.
3. Is there any way to get the device posdibly through Root and Rom Flashing to do 60 FPS video?
4. With Root is it possible to force apps on to the SD card partition with Adoptable storage? I had adoptable storage on my S7 edge but I wasn't able to force apps on my SD card eating up my internal storage.
5. Is there anyway with the Root Sound Modification's to make Bluetooth louder?
6. Is there any way to connect this device with screen mirroring to a non smart HDTV?
I'll do my best to answer some of these questions:
1. From what I've read the tinting you refer to is due to the type of LCD panel the phone uses. Coming from an S6 the display quality was one of my only regrets. AMOLED screen will spoil you.
2. You wouldn't need S-OFF to make a private photo/video gallery, but root is available for this device so if you have a method in mind that requires root you should be fine.
3. Root will not help you with getting 60fps video recording. It is possible some of the 3rd-party ROM chefs will add this as an option but you would need to do some research.
4. You can use adoptable storage on this device which will use your external SD card as internal storage. It is my understanding (somebody correct me please if I am mistaken) that the phone will default to internal storage first for certain types of data but then as space is required it will start using the external card. My phone has a 64GB card installed with about 40.87GB used but only 18.19GB of internal storage and 22.68GB of my SD card.
5. Not that I know of. Root is not the answer to everything.
6. If you mean connecting via wireless display then probably not, but there is a USB Type-C to HDMI connector you can buy on Newegg. A quick Google search turned up about a half-dozen options. Here's one on Dell's website: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...en1=470-ABMZ:101952148149:901pdb6671:c&ven2=:
Thanks for the quick reply appreciate it. If your coming from the S7 I'm assuming... how loud is the Bluetooth compared to that device.

I didn't have an S7, upgraded from S6. I haven't noticed any problems with bluetooth volume on either device, but I don't use it all that often. Mostly just in my car which worked perfectly on both.
I came from a GS7 and I actually prefer the screen on the HTC 10. Way more accurate. I compared the 2 before I returned the GS7. And also it feels like the 10 is way faster when it comes to how fast it reacts to touch response everything just moves fast on this device. I haven't had any issues with the tint either

I came from a Note 5 and I love the display on my 10. Just got it today, Tianma panel, no tint problems, no "coil whine" noises... Not impressed with the speakers as much though. Its a lot quieter than I'd like, especially on YouTube and my Note 5 actually has more bass than the 10 does which is disappointing.
Other than that, I scored 120k on AnTuTu out of the box, 8k lower than the LG G5 but almost double the 62-64k my Note 5 always got (it was messed up out of the box but T-Mobile wanted to charge me a restocking fee so I said nevermind and kept it).
The first sync takes a LONG time... I'm wondering if its a T-Mobile problem or not so I'm in the process of changing my device to a US unlocked RUU with root. Just backing up my partitions right now before I root and go S-OFF.
