xperia play fastboot unlock - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

I'd like to get my xperia play's fastboot unlocked so I can just generally have my phone in full and not be limited to what the carrier thinks I should have lol. Is there anyone here who can do this? There's others willing to do this for 24.99 cad and I'm willing to pay...
If this is the wrong forum, or if I shouldn't ask this here by all means delete the post and my apologies.
Extra info: It's rooted. I have all of the software required. The damn thing won't go into fastboot mode when I hold any button and plug it in.

Bump, Actually came to ask this.

I suggest putting a different sim from a another company mines locked to Telstra but Optus works perfectly

Did I BRICK my T-mobile HTC TOUCH PRO2

Hi everyone. I hope I'm in the right forum. I need some hand-holding big time. This is the first time writing regarding a mobile phone Unlocker so please be gentile with me. I'm a virgin with phone unlocking matters and anything related to Unlocker issues here in the states.
This was all a bit confusing for me. I donated & obtained Olipro's Rhodium Sec / CID / SIM Unlocker to see if I could get Sprint's service to work on this phone. All went well with the unlocker steps 1 thru 3 until I got to the radio portion for the radio file 2.32.00WU.exe I downloaded from xda-developers.com's website. I ran this downloaded file in hopes that I now could get Sprints US service with my T-mobile phone. Weeeel, unfortunately my HTC T-PRO2 never came back to life after this 4th step. It did have a 90% battery charge when I started this whole process.
I purchased this phone brand new from an eBay seller a few weeks ago which was "supposedly" unlocked. I found out that "Unlocked" only meant it could see both T-mobile and AT&T networks, nothing else, even going manual. Useless...
My HTC T-PRO2 has the Win Mobile v6.5 update.
Did I miss something? Is this what is meant by the term "BRICKED"? Did I do something I wasn't supposed to? Did I just lose $20USD? Do I now have a $500 brick?
Thanks.

"Bricked" means you've rendered the phone useless, and generally unrecoverable, through a bad flash...that's one that either gets horribly corrputed, or when you use the wrong type of ROM, which is what it sounds like you've done. First, you can't use a GSM version of the TP2 on Sprint's CDMA network. Secondly, trying to flash a CDMA ROM on a GSM TP2 can indeed brick the phone.
I hate to say this, but if you had carefully and throughly read and understood all the instructions provided in both the HardSPL and the Rhodium ROM flashing threads, you would have seen the warnings against flashing the wrong type of ROM.
It's possible that you haven't totally killed your phone, but that's definitely a potential outcome here. While you're waiting for someone else to chime in with steps on how to possibly recover it, you might want to go back and read the guide to flashing ROMs on the Rhodium one more time.

Hi & thanks sirphunkee for the quick responses guys. I thought I was following the instructions by simply following the downloaded file's, RhodiumUnlocker.exe, simple three steps, the 3rd step requiring me to check the two boxes on the screen and committing the changes. That part all went well. Then it was the radio flashing part which is actually the 4th step. After that step completed & and it stated that my phone would now reboot/restart. It never came back. I now get absolutely nothing coming up on the screen, not even a power light. I plugged the wall charger in & I noticed that the orange power charging light comes on for about 2 minutes then goes away & then nothing for another 1-2 hours.
Any further suggestions are kindly appreciated.
In the meantime I've ordered the HTC HD2 T-mobile, supposedly "Unlocked", too. I'm definitely not going to try anything on that one until I see if this HTC T-PRO2 can be revived if it's not already dead.

No. I can't see anything on the screen. There is just a black display.
As for Olipro's Unlocker, they state they can. Or am I reading it wrong?

No. I ordered the T-mobile HD2 for my girl who is quite happy with her T-mobile service. But I would've tried f-ing with it when she's not looking, especially since I'm buying it for her. I know, I know, " If it's not broke, don't fix it". But if I stuck with that theory I would never learn anything new nor buy any new gadgets.
if u want a tp2 with cdma and gsm capabilities you want a sprint tp2 has a simcard slot and all

OK this is dum, dum again. I mentioned that there is no screen on this phone now. My PC tries to recognize it for about 1 minute or two, then the phone's hardware signature disappears from my hardware list in Windows 7's Device Manager listing. It didn't do that before.
Now, how do I boot it into a bootloader? Is this another thing I have to buy or is this some magic mode/functionality built into the phone itself?
Thanks.
PS: I wasn't kidding when I said I'm a virgin at this stuff.

bootloader is built into the phone, nothing to download or buy.
hold the volume down button while pressing the power button up top when the phone is off.
If you can get this you might be able to flash the appropriate Rom and radio for the phone.

Nope. That didn't work. The orange LED comes on when I press the power button without pressing any buttons with or without pressing the Volume-Down button. Then every 2-3 minutes the phone tries to register itself in Windows' Device Manager showing up as "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM" with an exclamation point under "Other Devices". This state lasts for about 1 full minute then it disappears from Device Manager in windows.

Yep, tried running the STEP-1/Hard-SPL app again & now the app. just freezes. I left it running for about 30 minutes & it never came back with any visual response even thought the PC doesn't recognize it.
I even tried the following Hard reset Steps from the wiki.xda-developers.com section for this phone:
* With the device turned off, press and hold the TALK/SEND and END/HANG UP buttons, then the press and hold the POWER button until you see this message on the screen.
* "This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press ?VolUp to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel."
* Release the TALK/SEND, END and POWER buttons.
* Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.
If you have a Telus or Verizon TP2 (Sprint not tested but likely the same), the combination is different.
* Power off the phone using the 'end' key.
* Hold 'volume down' and 'send', the press 'end' till you see blue text. Follow hard reset prompts.

I think it's a dead duck.
You took a CDMA radio and flashed it to a phone that was made for GSM.
GSM - T-Mobile & AT&T
CDMA - Sprint & Verizon
You don't need to use Hard SPL again.Try to install a GSM radio and see what happens. When it's reading for that first minute, run the GSM radio installer.
If you can't get into bootloader you may be F-ed.
For kicks try to install a GSM rom if all else fails and then try the GSM radio again.
FYI - From my knowledge you can't cross over phone's using the opposite technologies.

Nexus' dead, Samsung USA cannot help and am lost

So more than a week ago my phone went into "Downloading Mode" and I had no clue what it was in the first place. I took my battery off and put it back and still didn't work.
After that my phone only went to Downloading or fastboot and so I researched more about all these rooting and unlocking stuff. I downloaded Gnex toolkit because I wanted to go back to stock 4.0.2 again and I did what the program told me (Unlocked my bootloader and downloaded the GSM 4.0.2 factory image and set up fastboot.exe). My phone was recognized by GNEx toolkit and fastboot and I put yes to bring back to stock 4.0.2 but half way through the process it gave me an error (******(Unknown error)) and my phone went off and now it WON'T GO to fastboot or downloading mode. The phone doesn't start and if it did it goes it's stuck on the google but it doesn't show up; it shows up as a messed up green pixeled image.
I called Samsung USA and they said we cannot help you and I got really pissed while talking to them because they cannot help and they said they don't know who could.....then the guy offered to give me Samsung China number which I refused and hung up.
So how to get my phone back from the dead. The computer doesn't recognize it and if it turns on to this green google messed up image it doesn't do anything, it just goes off and comes back on the same screen.
Please help guys. this $680 phone is now a piece of scrap
You're right, Samsung USA is in no way obligated to help you, considering they don't sell the phone here (this should be well known when you buy a "gray market" device). You can't get mad at them about that. Where did you buy it from?
If it sometimes boots you have a chance. Someone more knowledgable than me will be able to give you specifics I'm sure. It may require some kind of USB jig to get it into fastboot mode though.
I bought it from back home Abu Dhabi, UAE but it was imported. The phone is probably made in SK.

I am not sure about that. I was only flashing to stock, but when I plug it to the computer first the battery icon on the screen is green but then it goes back to a normal looking icon and charges.
Tried taking it to a phone shop? See if they can come up with any ideas. Otherwise maybe insure it and make a claim possibly depending on terms and conditions

Try holding down both the Volume Keys while putting in the battery and connecting the USB (which should already be connected to the computer). If that doesn't work, try it again with holding the power button. This was one of the solutions that brought back my Samsung Vibrant from the dead a couple of times. USB Jigs are an option as well, and any Samsung Galaxy S one should work. You can even make one yourself.

try getting into fastboot..
or try connecting it to the pc n install the toolkit n then use the option 16
OK you can try to install the qualcomm drivers as the phone must be in download mode. That`s why its recognising it.
Then I think you need to flash a hex image or something.
Take a look:

Maybe one of the kind members here (a regular) may let you send it to them in the states and you could RMA it from there?

Seroiusly mate. IMHO if you don`t have the qualcomm hex images (or whatever they are) or a means of JTAGing your phone, then only option is to send it to someone in the US who can RMA it. For the cost of postage and maybe a beer for the kind person, they could do it for you.
Assuming you ordered it from your Google account when you was in the US...
1) Find someone trustworthy in US
2) Ask if you can send your Nexus 4 to them
3) They RMA it using your account details
4) They send the new device to you in Europe when google drop it off.

as i seem to recall, even an unlocked bootloader wont give u access to boatloader partition and other important partitions..
which makes it still recoverable..
if u ask me, get a different pc with windows vista/7 *not windows 8*, download the nexus drivers from xda and install and then try flashing via fastboot..
and if i seem to recall, the installation scripts in the rom.zip dont format partitions numbers but use tags such as system or data which is predefined so you cant flash system in bootloader by mistake..
ofcourse, i can be wrong
Can't go in fastboot mode, that's the problem
I think the only option is to send it to a JTAG service, if sending to google aint possible. I remember reading it was around 60 USD to revive a nexus 4.
maybe its the charge?
leave it for charging for 30 min-ish
then try fastboot
or try holding power for 20 second-ish to make sure the phone's restarted
as in, maybe its semi-booted
Charging doesn't work, will need a JTAG service or ask LG support
Just noticed this on W8

I know it may take a while, but it`s a means to an end. A bricked Nexus 4 is no good to anyone, unless you want to sell it for a pittance for parts...
Personally I wouldn`t care if it took weeks. You would be getting a brand new phone eventually.

DOOOO ITTTTTTTTT !!!!
On a serious note, i bricked my nexus somehow a while back and these guys were able to fix my phone , they are very trustworthy.
BTW they do have international shipping too
EDIT: just checked , its 105 dollars in total for a repair, you have a couple choices: you can sell your phone for pieces (there is high demand for screens since everyone is cracking theirs, and as you know it doesnt work after being cracked), you can find someone local to repair, and your last choice is to just take the bullet and pay 105 dollars (+ shipping from your area to them) to send and repair your phone.
I'm sure there's another way to fix it bro.. It can't be that hard. Just search around

Yeah, don't remind me.... (been there, done that)
But on a related note, sounds like a JTAG is definitely in order. If you're comfortable learning how to use a JTAG yourself, I believe they're about $150-200. You can fix your phone, and keep the JTAG to start fixing other phones in your spare time. After a few repairs, it would pay for itself! I've often considered going this route. Something I've thought of doing is buying bricked phones for cheap, fix them with a JTAG, and resell them for profit. Could be a fun little business and you'd learn a lot about several different devices. Look up the RIFF Box or Medusa Box - definitely do some research first, if you decide to go through with this. Just a suggestion at the very least...

SM-G960U switched from AT&T to Xfinity (GSM to CDMA) VERY BAD SERVICE! What do?

According to Samsung tech support this phone is made only for GSM networks and it's radio will not work with CDMA. I do get SOME service but it's very limited and my wife has the same model phone that we bought from Xfinity and the service is considerably better. Phone is practically brand new, is SIM Unlocked, I have factory reset it, checked carrier settings, carried it to a samsung warranty repair facility, etc. The last thing I can think of is to flash the firmware to Xfinity firmware, but is this a waste of time? Again, a Samsung tech said that AT&T carrier phones (even when they are unlocked like mine) won't work on CDMA.

If you want to go ahead and flash it, look at this thread for Note10(steps are the same) except for firmware files of course. Start from page 2, this will have info you need and tools. You will recognize me by my avatar.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10/help/flash-t-mobile-firmware-unlocked-note-t3962844
Now you need to see if you want to go with unlocked firmware or Xfinity firmware?
In the SamFirm PC tool you will need to enter the following:
For Xfinity firmware, enter: SM-G960U as a model and CCT as a region and hit check update and download the firmware(I would start with Xfinity firmware)
For unlocked firmware, enter SM-G960U1 and XAA and check update and download firmware

Hey thanks for this. So I have ODIN and have the appropriate firmware downloaded. I load the five files into ODIN, then turn phone off. Hold both volume buttons (up and down at same time) and hold power, let go of power when I see the splash (this is putting it into safe mode). Now it is in safe mode, but when I connect it to my laptop I don't see any blue bar or anything from ODIN saying that it recognizes my phone. Furthermore, when I hit START is immediately says "All Threads Completed (succeed 0/failed 0). Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks

You need to put your device in download mode. If you can't do it, then search online " Galaxy S9 download mode"...
You can keep your sim in the phone.
Download mode:
1) Volume down + Bixby button, then press and hold power button and when you see something on the screen(Samsung wording..), let go off power.
Preparation:
2) Launch Odin on your PC
3) Connect your device to PC and you will see blue box in ODIN showing that connecting is made
4) Important! - When you want carrier firmware, then there will be AP, BL, CP, CSC/Home CSC and USERDATA files in the firmware. I suggest you to use CSC instead of HOME CSC which will reset your software to factory. Only unlocked firmware doesn't include userdata file. Load appropriate file into each spot. Some of files may take longer to load, just wait
Flashing:
5) Hit start and it should take 5-7 min. After flash is done, you will see a PASS where the blue box was. The phone will restart and you can unplug the cable. Wait until all if done. If you get to a recovery screen with some simple error, just do "reboot system now"

People like you are the best kind of people. You take time out of your day to help people fix their problems and in doing so you took a load of stress off of my shoulders. I've worked for over a month to fix this reception issue. I could've just sold this phone for around $220 and taken the financial loss, then gone to comcast and bought one of their phones but you know I JUST paid this one off, and damnit I shouldn't have to do that. You made it possible for me to keep the phone that I bought, the phone I wanted in the first place and in turn saved me hundreds of dollars that I did not want to spend. I can not thank you enough for what you do. My phone is working great now after flashing the Xfinity firmware, I get 2 bars at my office when I used to get no service. Thank you again, may you live a long and happy life and may the world bring you as much joy as you have brought me. THANK YOU!

Don't mention it! Thanks to you too! I am really happy it made your phone work! I just like to be more practical than manufacturers(you know which one I mean) and unfortunately tech support mostly gives pre-written answers. I have tried few times to help other people in that forum but moderators didn't like it(got a warnings) and I can't provide links anymore there.

Ugh that is frustrating to hear! That manufacturer (not Apple or LG or Nokia), private messaged me and said that "the hardware that comes with the Samsung Galaxy S9 phone from AT&T is different from the Hardware that comes with the Xfinity version and your AT&T purchased one will never work on CDMA networks" to which I responded "Can you replace it? It is under warranty for 6 more months" they said "We CAN replace it but only with another AT&T version." Absolutely absurd. I am VERY thankful for you, I've bragged on you all day to my coworkers in our IT department. My wife and I plan to have a child in the next year or so, if it is a boy I will name him Charkatak, unless you have another real name that you go by?

Oh...don't name your child Charkatak It means: When you for example make an evil joke or your day has a lot of obstacles and it feels like en evil joke.
Basically a moderator from that forum removed some of my posts and PMed about their policy where we can't post external links that violate the policy or such. I promised to them not to post links, but instead I just tell people to search for XDA site and post things here. Pretty easy way out
