[Q] Unlock Keys for R800x - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I was just wondering if Unlock keys for the Bootloader were still being handed out, and if so, who do I need to talk to. I just need the key, i can unlock the bootloader myself. Thanks.
- R800x, 2.3.3, rooted, and from what i can tell i can fastboot. (blue light comes on when i press the search button while plugging USB in)
(I cant post replies in development section yet, or i would have asked in the BOOTLOADER CRACKED thread.)

Verizon patched it, you can no longer unlock the R800x that way.

Ahh... ok got ya. I was reading somewhere else there is a member... alenjandrissimo or something like that, that can unlock the bootloader for $25. Does that option still work?

xperia play fastboot unlock

I'd like to get my xperia play's fastboot unlocked so I can just generally have my phone in full and not be limited to what the carrier thinks I should have lol. Is there anyone here who can do this? There's others willing to do this for 24.99 cad and I'm willing to pay...
If this is the wrong forum, or if I shouldn't ask this here by all means delete the post and my apologies.
Extra info: It's rooted. I have all of the software required. The damn thing won't go into fastboot mode when I hold any button and plug it in.
Bump, Actually came to ask this.
I suggest putting a different sim from a another company mines locked to Telstra but Optus works perfectly

Well, it is vibrating, isn't it? Not fully dead then.
Start looking into adb, setting your pc up with that which is probably the way you'll need to go to fix it if it is possible to fix, and wait for glevitan to show up here. He'll do so sooner or later or muikkiman (im almost sure I just killed your nick), even darunion.

I am here....I am showing up...man, you have messed the bootloader. It is a slow way to fix it...and you will have to do it yourself with the steps you will be given in the IRC channel in my signature.
Your phone is not bricked, but is very slow motion....if you leave it for about 20/25 minutes it probably will boot "normally", so you have to fix that first before doing anything. Unfortunately you won´t be able to use the Hack Kit to root the phone as It is gone from XDA....for good

Unfortunately, some fellows have shown some attitude towards the guys who are involved in the Hack Kit IRC channel and moderators seem not to care much about. Ok, let´s get things straight, the Hack Kit does not use froyo hboots or flash ENG S-OFF, so if you messed your bootloader YOU did it. Stop blaming someone else for what u have done to your device.

There´s nothing to excuse you for...but the Hack Kit is not using froyo RUUs so, there´s no chance for the messed bootloader. Do not take the motherboard change....it is not worth the pain. If the phone is not booting at all...then go for the motherboard...but if it is stuck in the splash, then you have to fix the bootloader. That can be fix as long as the phone boots....

[Q] Round up of BL Unlock Allowed: No Rumors, Theories and Experiences

Right, I have a R800i aka Xperia play from O2-UK
I have BL Unlock allowed: no (guessable from the title)
Before I take the plunge of paying $15 of my cash to some guy whom just happens to have bought the SETool box I want to 'verify' that all the Legends around the various myths are lies and that I coud'nt have avoided spending $15.
Firstly, a while ago I saw a guy post up that he also had a super-annoying-sony-carrier-love-locked-bootloader and he used S1Tool and unlocked it. Is this true? Any experiences? Here's the Original thread
Next, I came across several sites fastgsm and wotanserver, fonefunshop - both offered to do the service but required you to have 12W12 thing on the back. I have higher - 11W46 in fact.
Any other rumours? anyone?
I have it SIM UNLOCKED. And no matter how many times I talk to O2 the support is useless - they say check PC Companion and other stuff.
I'm ready to part with a maximum of $10. It's not like the $5 will kill me it's just I don't want to pay some random guy money cos you know - he'll run off with a joyful face and if it then turns out his hickary and ajigary did'nt work I'll be back at square one only with $15 less cash
Even if it say no, if you plug in the device when its off while holding the search, and the blue light turns on, then you maybe likely still be able to unlock it. If not, then you'll have to pay. Out side of those website which I haven't tried, there are only two person I am aware of that provide this unlocking server and they both are professional. Also I don't think they make any profit from it, though someone else will know better about this.
I used Wotan server and within 5 minutes of paying 7.99 EUR I had an unlocked boot loader

I have an r800i and was able to unlock its bootloader on my own without paying anything. I used the method wherein you'll stick a paper clip and wiring thing, just googled bootloader unlock and was able to get the 3 method to do so and did the best out of 3. Back then even if my bootloader is unlocked, it won't brick via OTA update. It was in youtube.

Should also mention my boot loader unlock status was no

No blue light . I think I know the two people you're talking about
Xperia Unlock Service being one
and the other PhoneUnlockServer
As I said I'm prepared to pay it's just I would feel way more secure paying someone like wotanserver rather than a guy or girl (That I know literally nothing about other than he/she unlocks phones)

What does your sticker under the battery say? I mean the **W** mine goes 11W46 (Meaning it was made in 2011 in the 46th week )
Wotan server says you need less than 12W12 for their trick to work. SO am I right in assuming it will work for me? Any experiences with 11W46? 12W12 should mean it was made in the year 2012 and in the 12th week. That should mean mine is earlier right?

YEs if you download the unlock tool for the xperia play on wotanserver.com it has an embedded video detailing what to do.
There! Thats what i used to unlock my BL the test point, look for bootloader unlock xperia play on youtube, theres a link on where to download software so you can do it on your own and without paying service wherein you have to be in teamview. Anyone confident enough can unlock thier own device using this method.

Took the plunge of wotanserver.
So i paid Wotanserver €8 (£7 (or equivalent in local currency))
PayPal immediately messaged me saying that "You sent a payment of €7.99 EUR to WahWai Electronic Technology Limited ([email protected])" FastGSM hmmmmmm........ Doesn't it ring a bell.
Anyway the setup was painless, literally open the setup file. All the drivers will be installed along the way of the install procedure. Handy.
Then you open up the thing and tell it your phone model it goes OK, shows you a little video how to connect the testpoints (Calls it TP to GND Connection presumably pronounced TiiPe too GRRRRRnd) Anyway, connect the phone as shown, it goes oh yeah, phone detected checks your account balance and does the BL unlocking.
The monetary transfer literally took no time at all (Excl the time I spent typing in my PayPal details)and the actuall process took less than 10s (no joke)
If you consider using wotanserver though try to do the whole process without credits so you know if your phone works to avoid disappointment after you paid - Select model and connect it the softwre will say 'checking account' and then say not enough credits if it can unlock the phone but won't due to insufficient money. Try it first, pay it and do it again later.
Overall it worked! My phone is now unlocked the bootloder has a version of r9******* (not censored just can't remember) and even the little BL unlock allowed status has been set to yes
Now just need to get CWM on there and flash a decent ROM. But that's a different issue.
Thanks for all your help guys (and girls)

Its Extremely hard to hard brick a nexus. Basically just don't flash anything that is for a different device and you will be fine. How much does your friend really understand about rooting/unlocking? Especially a nexus device which is basically built to be a developers device. Just read read read and fully understand what you are doing before you do it. If you have questions ask and you will learn fast.

Ditch the friend.
Root the Tab. Meet Girls and drink beer while playing He-man.
Spuds McKenzie rolls by in a swag dog carrier.
Fireworks go off. You and the girls jump from a plane and parachute into a party hosted by the Red Hot Chilli peppers. You leave cause the Red Hot chilli peppers are lame.
You don't usually root, but when you do, you do it in style.
The only possible way to brick your device is to erase the boot loader with adb, (which is pretty easy) and then you need a JTAG to fix, or if you can access download mode (only on gnex and n4 I think) you can still in brick it. Nexus devices are made as Dev devices and are not eaisally brickable

Bootloader can be bricked by other means but it's not simply done unless on purpose. And why would you disconnect the cable while unlocking? The unlocking process seemed to happen in the nexus as you have to confirm whit volume up and power button. I can be wrong but anyway don't be scared as it's a fast and easy process.

You have washed away my fear, but in case the usb cable goes loose and comes out,the process is obviously interrupted and surely the bootloader is bricked,in such instances how do I get it up and running?

You aren't actually replacing the boot loader only unlocking it officially, but I'm not sure. Anyway the best thing you can do is to root with this toolkit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389107 watch the videos, read the instructions and make sure the cable stays connected during the process.

There's no way you can accidentally knock the cable loose if you're not being an idiot. Just place it on your desk and leave it alone, that thing stays in there fine.
Don't be scared though, you have absolutely nothing to fear if you read over the guides correctly(also get a new friend).

Haha,I think I should get a good friend.Besides, say for instance the cable came out, what then? Can it still be Unbricked? What if the Root kit encounters some problem and stops working, can it still be unbricked?
I might sound nuisance but I should be ready to troubleshoot in case anything goes wrong, please dont get me wrong with my repetitive questioning
Thank you.

You're not bricked if the rootkit stops working halfway during the process. And yes it is unbrickable

I suggest reading the unlock process a few times before diving into it then go step by step while your actually unlocking your nexus 7. It is one of the easiest devices to unlock you shouldn't run into any issues but in the extremely rare case that you do. You have the xda community to turn to for help. There are some amazing developers on here

Locked bootloader ("Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No")

Hi,
Some of you may recognize this issue, and I apologize if I annoy some people by making this thread, but I'm really running out of options.
I own Xperia Play r800i. It's rooted, but bootloader is locked, preventing me from installing any custom roms. Unfortunately, official unlock is not possible with this phone, as service menu has the infamous "Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No" setting and I have no clue how to get rid of it.
One major problem is the amount of confusion and disinformation running amok in the internet. Depending on where you look for info, you will get answers wildly varied. Some people will say it's possible, some say it's not, some say there's a program that can do it automatically for you, others will say that the whole thing is outright impossible and suggest buying a new phone. Some say Sony can do it, for free, others will send you on your way to mobile operator, who can unlock it for a fee.
I also heard about the "testpoint method", which involves pressing a paperclip on the dots on the inside of your phone and then connect it to the wire or something... and attach it to the battery? Or terminal? I'm a bit confused about this thing. The only guide I found (on XDA) is a bit inprecise and one of the pictures is missing.
While researching, I found a site with a tool that supposedly can unlock Bootloader in this case. It's here: "bootloader-unlock-allowed-no-solution.blogspot.com". People behind it claim that it works with cases like mine. To be honest, something is not right here, and I feel it may be a scam. Of course, internet remains silent about this site.
The questions and answers on this very forum covers this case and suggests contacting member "Alejandrissimo", who can supposedly solve this issue for a fee. I've tried to contact him via email and have yet to receive a sign of life from him. Additionally, his site mentioned in the topic appears to be dead.
Please help me. I'm running out of ideas. I'm prepared to pay if I have to, and the last thing I'd wanna do is to abandon this phone because I can't unlock it. I fell in love with XPlay, but deficit of power and its extremely sluggish and outdated stock rom are a very major issue here.
Alright, problem solved. I'll post it for anybody facing similar problems in the future.
First off, from what I learned, the site "bootloader-unlock-allowed-no-solution.blogspot.com" appears to be a scam. Don't bother going there - it's not gonna help.
Many people from various forums point to "Alejandrissimo" member of this forum, and supposedly, he can unlock bootloader in this situation over the internet, if you pay him. At this point I still got no reply from him, after attempting to contact him by e-mail, XDA forum private message, or even Google Hangouts.
Running out of ideas, I decided to contact local GSM repair centers, and I found one which said they can try unlocking it. For a very small fee (translating to something like less than 15$) and after an hour of attempting various methods, the guy at the repair center finally managed to unlock bootloader on my phone with testpoint method and the X Unlock program. The settting at the service menu changed to "Bootloader Unlock Allowed: Yes" and I've succesfully connected the phone to PC in fastboot and bootloader modes (green LED and blue LED respectively).
Case solved. Thread can be locked.

The testpoint method or the s1tool method as its properly called is the easiest method. Why does this work? Well in the Xperia 2011 and all phones there is a peice of code called a flag this flag checks bootloader unlock allowed no. 2011 Xperia have a point in the battery are which if connected to ground will temporarily remove this flag. Which will allow you to flash custom firmware in the form of ftf after the but custom firmware is only in. . Img? No LoOpy made a thread containing most firmwares in. Ftf so they can be flashed. X Unlock will unlock everything completely if you do s1 on Xperia play. Wonder if this works with r800x. Anyway there are actually MANY MANY MANY many threads on this subject but it is always nice to have more as looking through old fossilized threads is so annoying Alejandrissimo has been a dead member since 2013 no idea where's he's gotten do but he clearly doesn't do anything XDA related anymore almost none of the devs in 2011 will grace got with an answer for whatever reason. Either they've been annoyed to death with repetitive questions or they just got tired of it either way here's a list
Bin4ry will sometimes answer
Alejandrissimo never
Condi yes but just to say hi
Blagus no
Doomlord almost never and if he does it will be in yes or no fashion extremely curt or irritated.
Androxyde never not even on Twitter
The maker of s1tool will sometimes answer.
Very annoying but anyway that's how she goes, sometimes she goes sometimes she doesn't cause that's the way she goes bubbles

Thanks for your reply. Well, first off, from what I've learned, s1tool would not work at all with this case. It only works with "Bootloader Unlock Allowed: Yes" from what I know.
Don't know about other phones, but for owners of r800i (or just anything else equipped with test points) facing similar problem I had - unless you own X Unlock or SETool2, just bring your phone to a GSM repair service and ask them to unlock it for you - it's the most surefire way, and this kind of service should be very cheap. Be careful though - make sure those guys know what you're talking about and they know what they are doing, as this is a very obscure and rare problem.

You are very incorrect my freind. S1tool is a small subset of setool. It's SPECIFIC PURPOSE is to unlock bootloader allowed: no phones that's what it does. Using the testpoint temporarily removes the bootloader unlock allowed no flag and allows you to unlock the bootloader. Which is what I explained and you failed to understand for some reason. The bootloader status will still say no but it will be unlocked on 2011 phones before 12w31days. The advantage of s1tool is that it preserves drm by having the phone say bootloader unlock allowed no while still being unlocked. If your a noob like yourself than taking it to a service is a good idea if there is one around.
It's how I unlocked my first Android phone, the play and a few others. Your way of doing it is all well and good if there is someone who does this service in your area.
Services like xunlocker are garbage and often freeze and take your money then when you ask for a refund they are more silent then death. Setool if you want to do it yourself will cost 100$ dollars as that is how much the hardware costs. This problem is also not rare as ALL network locked phones will not allow you to unlock the bootloader. However once you have paid for the phone in full you can take it to the store and they will network unlock it for 50$ you can also at the same time have a technician unlock the bootloader which is by far the easiest way to have this done.

I don't know how different the GSM variants are, but four out of the six r800x units I've owned (All four are Verizon branded) all reported the bootlocker unlock status as "No" yet they all were unlockable after running fastboot with the command the Sony Mobile site generated.
One of them I thought was actually being truthful since I couldn't get it to unlock on the first attempt, but realized it was due to accidentally entering a lower case hex digit in the MEID on the Sony web form (Bad coding on their part: case should be irrelevant for hexadecimal). Once I ran it with all caps the generated code unlocked it fine.
