Rogers Lumia - do I need an unlock code to travel? - Nokia Lumia 900

When I travel to the States, I'd like to start using an AT&T GoPhone sim - at $2/day it would be MUCH better than Roger's silly roaming rates ($1.45/min!)
I'd still have to pay long distance to Canada and add on some data but it would still be WAAAAY cheaper...
So here are my questions:
1. I'm assuming AT&T could give me a micro-SIM?
2. Will this just work, or do I need to buy an unlock code?
3. Where do I buy an unlock code?
4. Has anyone done this?
g.

You should check into TMobile as their rates are better and more flexible.
1.You will need a micro sim.
2.You will need an unlock code
3. Lots of retailers but maybe use Mobile in Canada
4. There is one or two people here that have gotten an unlock code for Rogers....nothing yet I believe for the AT&T version

1. you will need a micro sim
2. to use other micro sim from other carriers, you will need an unlock code (note that the phone data may not work in all countires)
3. this is about the cheapest you'll find - www.remotecellunlock.com
I paid USD$ 8.79 to unlock the Rogers Nokia Lumia 900 ad received code with in 35 minutes
4. yes see above

I know this is an old thread, but I thought someone might like to know that remotecellunlock just told me they were refunding me, as they didn't have an unlock code for my new Rogers Lumia 900 (purchased May 28th, 2012).
Not sure what's going on there.
Trying cellunlocker.net now ($16.99 USD).
Waiting for response from them. 3h and counting.

Is there a way to unlock the LG Incite??

Hi,
I need to unlock an LG Incite (CT810) phone sim locked to at&t.
any body??
a code from at&t is needed to unlock your phone, the easiest way to do this is to call customer support on the terms of "international travel and prepaid sim cards"

Thanks, is there a certain strategy to do so.
does this also mean that i can turn my contract into a prepaid account using this approach, I'm indeed going to travel for a long period (maybe 6 months)..??
thanks
If you poke around on eBay you can get a code in a couple hours for the price of around $5. I guess it depends on what your time is worth. I decided to give up a few bucks rather than waste a lot of time on the phone with AT&T, or searching the internet. The ct810 Incite is phone specific also when unlocking. This means there is not one code to unlock all Incites.
I buy the phone from Amazon, and i don't want to activate the line (i still didn't) ... will that cause any problems ??
if yes, can i activate the phone, then due to traveling abroad i convert the contract to prepaid account??
I once bought a prepaid package and i never activated the line... and the telephone still works till now without problems.. i'm not sure if this is the case with contract phones too ..
will the universal sim unlocker (here in the forum) work on the incite?
As here we dedicate only to HTC devices you won't get too much attention.
better to try here:

remotecellunlock.com Lumia 900 unlock?

Hey,
Just wondering if anyone on Rogers has tried to get a cell unlock for the Lumia 900 from remotecellunlock.com?
Basically I placed an order for a code on April 23 (gave them my details like IMEI, Model Lumia 900, and Carrier etc), and I got an email from them later that day saying they were unable to generate a code for me and they would reimburse me. Well I tried to shoot them a response both in the email and in the contact form on their site saying that people on Rogers with the Lumia 900 have been able to get an unlock code from them, but till now I have had ZERO response. The $8.99 has already been charged from my credit card via Dalpay and they have yet to reimburse like they said.
Anyone know whats going on? Thinking about doing a chargeback, but I thought I would check here to see if anyone else has had any problems with them.
Thanks
cellunlocker.net
Took 1 hour or so to get the code. Worked flawlessly.

That's really strange. I got an unlock code from them in about 4 hours on April 19 for a Rogers Lumia 900. The code worked perfect and I have been using it on Bell since then.
Did you check your junk spam folder?
Yeah I checked my spam folders.
This was actually the email I got from them a few hours after I ordered:
"Dear Customer,
Sorry I have been unable to generate the correct unlock code for your mobile. There are so many mobile out there sometimes the firmware on certain versions mean I cant generate the code.
I have sent your details over the accounts team who will send you a refund. Although normally quicker please allow up to 7 days for the refund to get back into your account.
Once again I apologise for not being able to get the correct code for your mobile. Your only option may be your network operator or a local shop who can unlock via a cable.
Best Regards,
remotecellunlock.com"
I sent them a reply after asking if there was some sort of mistake because others have been able to get a code, but since that message I've gotten no response whatsoever from them. Further emails and inquiries made to their contact form have also not yielded any response. So I think I'll wait until tomorrow then do a charge-back...
Double check the IMEI you gave them.
Type *#06# and make sure all 15 digits match.
lumia 900 at&t Unlock
Hi,
I bought the nokia lumia 900 off contract phone from at&t, i spoke to the customer service and they are telling me the unlock codes for the phone will not be released till october 8th. Is there anybdy who has been able to unlock their at&t lumia 900? if so can you please tell me how you did it? i dont wanna sit with a paper weight for 6 months.
Are you in Canada? Bought from At&t, do they have AT&T where you are?
I am currently in Saudi Arabia. I bought the phone online from at&t USA. Do you think the phone can be unlocked? I bought it because it was off contract and now I am left wondering if it was a wrong choice to make.

So, I received an unlock code from AT&T and just back from Bell after getting a micro sim card to fit into the Lumia and everything seems to be working OK. I was very persistent with AT&T about them providing an unlock code, basically I didn't take no for an answer and didn't accept their October and December dates. The store new they were selling a phone off contract to Canadian who's plan was to use it out of the country.

Good luck.
Most likely the reason that they couldn't give you an unlock code is due to the IMEI you gave them. Not that you made a mistake, but that their 'unlocker' is probably set for only certain codes.
As others have replied, it's probable that they cannot unlock IMEI's that were assigned to AT&T.

ATT typically wait at least 6mo before releasing an unlock code; it can sometimes be like pulling teeth to get the code from them, even then. That doesn't mean they don't have a code now. You might be able to sweet-talk a pliable rep into helping you, in your special circumstances. Good luck.

[Q] Using Nokia lumia 900 in Europe

Hi guys,
I'm wondering if I buy Nokia Lumia 900 from AT&T off-contract does it work on European carriers? I know what 4g network frequencies are different but what about 3G? Will I still be able get updates in Europe?
Your first hurdle is going to be getting AT&T to sim unlock it for you.....
For the record when I called to try to get the unlock code I told them I wanted to use my phone in Europe and they didnt red flag anything.
That is of course not definitive proof but they do call it a "World Phone" http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-ph...900+-+White&q_sku=sku6000234#fbid=1lM0QIuhHn3
But when you called AT&T, they gave you unlock code? I found on forums that sometimes they refuse to provide unlock code.

No, that is what I am saying. The vast majority are NOT getting an unlock code. I don't really need one I was just testing it out as an enterprise customer to see what they would say. I am under contract and bought a subsidized phone. The only people that I have read that said they got one bought it outright for cash. That is like 2 or 3 out of untold numbers that have NOT gotten a code who bought it without contract.
Ok. Let's say I managed to get code from at&t. What about wp updates? Does phone still get updates even if I'll be using it in Europe?

unlocking sim for sm-p607t (T-Mobile) ??

I was wondering if anyone gotten their tablet unlocked and can help me out on how or where I can get mine to unlock
Thank You in advance
Nearly two years ago I paid $30 to CellUnlocker.net to unlock my P607T. It maybe be cheaper now, but they worked for me.
Try UnlockRadar.com, they have a -20% offer and it will cost you something around 20$.

Has anyone tried to get the SIM network unlock code for free from T-Mobile?
I have had good results from them in the past, but I just saw this KB article: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-14910
One of T-Mobile's requirements (in addition to account in good standing, device not on payment plan, no more than 2 unlocks per year) require that the device be active on the account for at least 40 days, so I'll need to wait before I try. I'm happy to wait a month to save $20, unless someone tells me it's never going to happen, in which case I'll buy from a third-party now.

Yep, just pulled out the best and that is the model. I'm on Android 5.1. Went into Connections, More Networks, Mobile Networks, Checked Mobile Networks and Data Roaming, Opened Network Operators, Select Automatically (Automatically Select Preferred Network), and Default Setup.
Maybe it only works with an AT&T SIM???

I just tried unlocking tonight, the online representative said it wasn't a T-Mobile device and contact Samsung to figure out "who originally manufactured my tablet." This despite the fact I have to deal with the stupid t-mobile jingle every time it starts up.
As far as I know the Tmobile variant doesn't come locked. Verizon isn't a true GSM network, they use the SIM for 4G LTE.
I've spoken to Tmobile many times and they say none of their tablet comes locked but who knows. Try an AT&T sim... if it let's you use it it means it's unlocked. There is no such thing as selective network lock. It's either locked or it's unlocked.
T-Mobile USA definitely SIM-locks subsidized devices (but you can unlock once paid off, or pay someone to do it). My P607t and my Tab S2 (817t) came SIM-locked.

Unlocking Moto Z 2 Force - Tmobile

Hi Everyone,
I've seen some posts about unlocking this but I'm curious as to whether I can unlock a T-Mobile branded phone purchased outright that has never been activated.
What have you all found to be the easiest way to unlock it? I've already reached out to TM via FB to no avail.
Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks!
Bootloader unlock is done via Motorola. To unlock your device for all carriers you must actively use the phone for 7 days. If you can't unlock it yourself after 7 days using the builtin app, then go in to a store. They can call in and help get it unlocked, but only after you've used the phone for 7 days.

Ok, that is my question.
The phone is brand new - no sim. I'm trying to get it to a prepaid wireless service and need it unlocked to do so. What you're saying is that I would need to activate it for 7 days for the bootloader to work, correct?
Tmobile themselves offer unlocking but only after 40 days of service which is a no go in my current situation.
Thanks again for any help. No other programs or apps out there that can unlock it more quickly without the amount of work?
You guys are awesome!

No. You are matching the two things together. Let me be a little bit simpler about this. All use different paragraph so you don't get confused.
BOOTLOADER unlock can be done about 1 minute after you buy the phone. You contact Motorola directly. Search this forum and you'll get tons of information on it
CARRIER Unlocking a T-Mobile phone to be able to use with any carrier can be done after 7 Days of use on a T-Mobile plan. If they recently bumped it up to 40 and that's what customer service told you, then go with that. I've been with them for a few years now and only needed 7 days, but then I was in the store working with one of the sales people and they called in about it. I may have gotten special consideration given the amount of time my wife has had an account with T-Mobile, but I did a carrier unlock after only 7 days.

I picked up a New tmo z2 force and started it with prepaid. The prepaid balance has to be at least 100$ and active for 14 days before they will unlock it.

Yes. Tmo prepaid
Also that's what the tmo rep told me. I still have like 10 days to wait...so I'll report back when it's done
Decided to call and try my luck with another rep. They escalated the unlock for me and did it with the hour.
Unlock app says permanently unlocked now!
You don't need to have it 7 days or whatever. Buy the phone full price, insert the tmobile sim, boot up and carrier unlock right away with the unlock app. Bootloader unlock is with motorola. That's it.
First, you need to activate your phone with a T-Mobile SIM card (you don't need to possess the SIM card, you can even borrow one for a few minutes) and a non-T-Mobile SIM to check if the phone is network locked.
You can check by following these steps:
1. Insert the “non-accepted SIM card” on the phone (Please check if your new SIM Card is activated, if not contact your Mobile Operator in order to activate it).
2. Wait for the phone to load
3. Insert the SIM’s PIN code (4 digits), if asked.
4. Read the message your phone displays, if you need the unlock code or to unlock via the Device Unlock App.
Mod Edit
Based on the message you have, you can contact T-Mobile again and ask them to unlock. Or you can use a third party unlocking service.

This doesnt work.. It says unlock failed.. tried permanent and temporary. Tmobile says theres an unpaid balance but the phones imei is not lost or stolen. The way to request an unlock is the previous owner and the imei # has to make a request. ugh and theres some dude who says he can do it for a fee (clean the imei) im trying to use this on metro and cannot because of the whole tmobile unpaid balance bullcrap
Correct me if I'm wrong. No T-Mobile phone is eligible for unlock unless it's paid off in full and remained on the network for 45 days after. I've unlocked plenty of them after they were paid off and this was almost always the case.
I unlocked my bootloader right after getting my phone. It's not paid off, as I upgraded via JUMP.

Thinking the OP is talking about carrier unlock.
Check what your IMEI's status is in the T-Mobile network with their service here: https://www.t-mobile.com/verifyIMEI.aspx
Note that if the result doesn't with "Congratulations..." you might not be able to unlock your phone.

Ah, got it. It's tricky when "unlock" has multiple meanings, lol! In that case, no, you can't carrier unlock until your phone is paid off
I posted a similar question before I realised there was a thread already on this topic. Can anybody confirm that if you buy a tmo version from Motorola, then what are the conditions for having it unlocked? Is it $100 credit balance (for me that would add $100 to the cost) or immediately on insertion of a TMO SIM or some other conditions? Does anybody have any experiences they can report? Thanks
I can tell you I just tried getting a tmobile variant unlocked (375 outright, I have AT&T) and had a buddy with a tmobile account make the purchase and put his active sim in it and they would not unlock it. Stated it had to be on tmobile network for 40 days. He called multiple times and argued it's already paid off but they wouldn't budge. So I returned it. Had to eat a 50 fee for returning it. I chalk it to a lesson learned.
I was going to buy the phone from the Motorola website for $500 so $375 is a good deal. The problem is while I have a tmobile SIM card on a prepaid account I don't live in the US and while I'm travelling there soon I won't be on the network for 40 days. so I guess it won't be unlockable while I'm there and certainly not once I'm gone.
I wonder what the unlocking Services online are like? Has anybody had any experiences to relate

There is also a temp unlock through the unlock app. Still fully sim unlocked but for only a short time. Then if you do come back to the US for 40+ days you can try for the permanent unlock.

OK _ just got off both a phone call and chat session with TMO support. Basically the phone has to be on their network for 2 billing cycles and then you can call them to unlock it. That applies even apparently to the $3/month plan. I do have somebody who could do that but they would have to send the phone to me and I am not sure you can do that with its LiOn battery inside.
