How would I go about replacing my phone? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I bought it in December from Expansys and I live in California in the U.S. and I'm sure I still have my warranty. I'm getting lots of banding and gradient lines and it's starting to bug me and get worse. I know there is a great chance the next Nexus will do it too. So how would I go about replacing my phone for a new one? Also, will it be brand new or some refurbed BS if anyone has any experience with exchanges.

Anyone?

Well... I would recommend going to expansys.com or your confirmation email and checking with them how to go about it. It would require you to send your phone in, and the turn around could be around two weeks.

Same here. Called Expansys, they told me to.send it to them so they can send it to samsunf . Only problem is 6-8 WEEK for the return of the phone!

You could try contacting samsung directly as this would probably fall within the manufacturer's warranty although I don't know if samsung services gsm nexus in the US.

Experience ordering my galaxy nexus from mobilecityonline.com
Im sure with the many websites selling the nexus their are people who wondering where to buy from and hopefully this will help.
I had signed up for email alerts on the stock for the galaxy nexus. When I first checked they were expecting an ETA of Nov 23 2011(which I believe was the day before thanksgiving). It wasn't bad at all so I decided to check the place out. November 22 comes along and I get an email from MCO stating that the phone is in stock. I had pre ordered it. So once I authorized the payment I had To verify my card and ID. This was the biggest "hassle" of the entire process but I also understand that the phone is a $750 and they want to prevent fraud. I couldn't FAX my information on the day stock came in so I had to wait until the day after thanksgiving. Once I faxed my information, I called and they had to verify with the store manager (they base their store in NYC). Weekend goes by then Monday comes along. I get an email that they have shipped my phone. I receive my phone on Tuesday and I couldnt have been more excited. All in all the customer service was great. They answered all their calls in a timely manner and they always called back. I will deft purchase at MCO again.

Warranty exchange process?

Ok so tmobile was called and a warranty exchange will be done. The whole phone including the battery cover and all that were taken to ups to ship to wherever it needs to be. This is much different from when I had my mytouch slide warranty exchange. I used to get the new/refurbished phone first and then have the messed up one shipped back later (back cover of the messed up phone was transfered to the new/refurbished one). Why is it not the same anymore? Is it because its a white galaxy s2? Or has tmobile changed the warranty exchange process?

Only time I've done a warranty exchange was on my Sensation back in August. T-Mobile shipped me the replacement phone and I shipped them mine in that same packaging. Not sure if they have changed things. You may want to call them and ask to make sure. Unless you are doing the warranty through Samsung. They would require you to send in your phone.
Pretty much how it was done with the mytouch slide I'm using now. Maybe its a different process since I've only had the galaxy s2 for 3 days?

That's weird when I bought my g2x I did an exchange like the next day because of reboot issues and I did it like u said they send replacement then u send faulty device I would call and check

Maybe because the white galaxy s2 is limited? When I got the phone it had to be back ordered and it took a whole week to get in stock. Its probably effecting the way warranty exchange works on this phone. I can't contact tmobile myself because my dad is the one who did the warranty exchange for me. I asked him why the exchange is being done that way and according to him, he said tmobile asked him to ship the phone then when they get it, ill get the replacement and I know that's not how it worked when I had other tmobile smartphones exchanged.

If you've only had the phone for 3 days, why not take it back to where you bought it from and exchange it?

It was purchased online, so that was really the only way to do it. It is a warranty exchange (just seems to be a different way than usual), so he did not mess up, I know that for sure cuz I've had phones screw up many times in the past and they were successfully replaced. I'm gonna wait for the replacement to get here hoping it doesn't take too long.
Edit: maybe it wasn't a warranty exchange being done? Could probably be somethin different since it was only 3 days old, who knows haha, whatever I put up here is all I was told.

If the phone is only 3 days old, you aren't doing a warranty exchange. You are swapping the phone via the return period. Especially if they had you send the back cover and battery back...warranty exchange never includes the back cover (sometimes the battery ).
So the up side is that you'll get a brand new phone back. Downside is that you have to send yours first, and wait for one to be sent back after.
Thanks! That's most likely what's being done

This is why I always just buy phones in the store. During the return period you just take it in and swap it out on the spot.

The white Galaxy S II isn't offered in stores...
Stores also have 50 dollar restocking fees if they don't find anything wrong with the phone that isn't a known issue or if you try to get a different color or device.

diazjohn is right. your doing a return and getting another new white one... a much better way than them sending you a refurb....

Stock of refurbished ones. When you keep your old back cover, etc, it's a refurbished one that they've put into a new box [labeled or unlabeled]. If it's a REALLY new phone, then they often don't have very many if any refurbished ones in stock so they send out a new one. and eventually.. someone gets yours without a back cover

What store did you go to?
Corporate and Branded Third Party Retailers do not carry the white one.
Technically, the small independent retailers are in charge of buying their own stock, so they could carry it...and I'm not sure of National Retailers/Big Box...
Did you buy the white one or see it displayed on the floor?

Where do I go for warranty?

I bought a galaxy nexus from best buy (bell)
And my phone keeps getting random reboots. Do I go to best buy or call Samsung?

when did you get your phone? If it is within best buys return policy window, take it to them. If not, you can still try them or Bell.
Look for one of the stores with a technical support area and they can either replace your phone there or at least get a new one ordered to you.

well I'm in the UK so what I say may not apply here
I ignored my carrier and went straight to Samsung.
I'd go to Best Buy.

[Q] Replacement In Store

Seriously thought... I'm getting another replacement in the mail tomorrow due to the other replacement having a purple tint. (3rd replacement) I see people posting how they walked into a store and got a replacement there... How do you guys walk into stores and get replacements instead of having to get them through the mail?
PS. Verizon Nexus not GSM.
Its at the Verizon stores with tech support in them. Sometimes they will do that there.

Gotcha. If this next one doesn't work I might be going to a razr maxxx.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I wouldn't recommend razr maxx. My friend had one screen went faulty within a week
It's of my understanding that Verizon corporate stores are the way to go for troubleshooting and the replacement has to do with quantity and model of phone in the store at the time. Clearly they don't want to be tossing out devices that are fresh. I've never been offered up a straight replacement but have been with two people, one with VZW and the other TMOB and both were exchanged on the spot.
The new replacement is almost here. So hopefully it gets here and is working perfectly. We will see.

How deos Google replace a Nexus?

Lets say your Galaxy Nexus has a problem and is still covered with warranty and you call up Google for them to replace it. Do they send you a phone first and then you send them back the Galaxy nexus? Or you send your Galaxy Nexus and then they send you a refurbished?
you send it to Samsung, who then fixes your phone and ships it back to you. if you are lucky and have a repair depot near by, you might get same day service going there. the one in Montreal Canada offers this level of service

Aww that sucks, guess I would have to wait. Verizon sends you a device and then you send yours back to Verizon. Sometimes these companies find an excuse not to fix your device like saying you had water damage, or sometimes the device cracks while you send it in.
