Seriously thought... I'm getting another replacement in the mail tomorrow due to the other replacement having a purple tint. (3rd replacement) I see people posting how they walked into a store and got a replacement there... How do you guys walk into stores and get replacements instead of having to get them through the mail?
PS. Verizon Nexus not GSM.
Its at the Verizon stores with tech support in them. Sometimes they will do that there.

Gotcha. If this next one doesn't work I might be going to a razr maxxx.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I wouldn't recommend razr maxx. My friend had one screen went faulty within a week
It's of my understanding that Verizon corporate stores are the way to go for troubleshooting and the replacement has to do with quantity and model of phone in the store at the time. Clearly they don't want to be tossing out devices that are fresh. I've never been offered up a straight replacement but have been with two people, one with VZW and the other TMOB and both were exchanged on the spot.
The new replacement is almost here. So hopefully it gets here and is working perfectly. We will see.

Ok so tmobile was called and a warranty exchange will be done. The whole phone including the battery cover and all that were taken to ups to ship to wherever it needs to be. This is much different from when I had my mytouch slide warranty exchange. I used to get the new/refurbished phone first and then have the messed up one shipped back later (back cover of the messed up phone was transfered to the new/refurbished one). Why is it not the same anymore? Is it because its a white galaxy s2? Or has tmobile changed the warranty exchange process?

Only time I've done a warranty exchange was on my Sensation back in August. T-Mobile shipped me the replacement phone and I shipped them mine in that same packaging. Not sure if they have changed things. You may want to call them and ask to make sure. Unless you are doing the warranty through Samsung. They would require you to send in your phone.
Pretty much how it was done with the mytouch slide I'm using now. Maybe its a different process since I've only had the galaxy s2 for 3 days?

That's weird when I bought my g2x I did an exchange like the next day because of reboot issues and I did it like u said they send replacement then u send faulty device I would call and check

Maybe because the white galaxy s2 is limited? When I got the phone it had to be back ordered and it took a whole week to get in stock. Its probably effecting the way warranty exchange works on this phone. I can't contact tmobile myself because my dad is the one who did the warranty exchange for me. I asked him why the exchange is being done that way and according to him, he said tmobile asked him to ship the phone then when they get it, ill get the replacement and I know that's not how it worked when I had other tmobile smartphones exchanged.

If you've only had the phone for 3 days, why not take it back to where you bought it from and exchange it?

It was purchased online, so that was really the only way to do it. It is a warranty exchange (just seems to be a different way than usual), so he did not mess up, I know that for sure cuz I've had phones screw up many times in the past and they were successfully replaced. I'm gonna wait for the replacement to get here hoping it doesn't take too long.
Edit: maybe it wasn't a warranty exchange being done? Could probably be somethin different since it was only 3 days old, who knows haha, whatever I put up here is all I was told.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using Tapatalk
If the phone is only 3 days old, you aren't doing a warranty exchange. You are swapping the phone via the return period. Especially if they had you send the back cover and battery back...warranty exchange never includes the back cover (sometimes the battery ).
So the up side is that you'll get a brand new phone back. Downside is that you have to send yours first, and wait for one to be sent back after.
Thanks! That's most likely what's being done
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using Tapatalk
This is why I always just buy phones in the store. During the return period you just take it in and swap it out on the spot.

The white Galaxy S II isn't offered in stores...
Stores also have 50 dollar restocking fees if they don't find anything wrong with the phone that isn't a known issue or if you try to get a different color or device.

diazjohn is right. your doing a return and getting another new white one... a much better way than them sending you a refurb....

Stock of refurbished ones. When you keep your old back cover, etc, it's a refurbished one that they've put into a new box [labeled or unlabeled]. If it's a REALLY new phone, then they often don't have very many if any refurbished ones in stock so they send out a new one. and eventually.. someone gets yours without a back cover

What store did you go to?
Corporate and Branded Third Party Retailers do not carry the white one.
Technically, the small independent retailers are in charge of buying their own stock, so they could carry it...and I'm not sure of National Retailers/Big Box...
Did you buy the white one or see it displayed on the floor?
I bought it in December from Expansys and I live in California in the U.S. and I'm sure I still have my warranty. I'm getting lots of banding and gradient lines and it's starting to bug me and get worse. I know there is a great chance the next Nexus will do it too. So how would I go about replacing my phone for a new one? Also, will it be brand new or some refurbed BS if anyone has any experience with exchanges.

Anyone?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Well... I would recommend going to expansys.com or your confirmation email and checking with them how to go about it. It would require you to send your phone in, and the turn around could be around two weeks.
Same here. Called Expansys, they told me to.send it to them so they can send it to samsunf . Only problem is 6-8 WEEK for the return of the phone!
You could try contacting samsung directly as this would probably fall within the manufacturer's warranty although I don't know if samsung services gsm nexus in the US.
I dropped my Nexus and cracked the screen. I am a TMobile customer and pay for insurance. Asurion just offered me the SIII in exchange for my cracked Nexus for $130 deductible. Looking for advice on as to whether I should do the exchange or pay $200 to have the screen replaced.
I'd personally stick with the Nexus. I bought it for a reason (Latest updates, and AOSP) not for the hardware so I would just want my Nexus fixed and back in one piece.

That's what I'm thinking. The additional $70 for replacement of the screen is a cost I'm willing to take to avoid delayed updates and TouchWiz
I do Believe CM10 is on the SG3 but i would pay for the screen as well. The SG3 is a nice phone but its only going to get left behind at one point where the nexus will not get left behind for along time.
$130 for GSIII
$475 resale value of the GSIII
$345 left
$360 new play store Nexus with 1 year warranty from Google
That puts you at $15 out of pocket for a brand new Gnex with warranty.

Damn, tmo insurance covers a gnex? I didn't think it would since it's not a tmo device.

They cover it but they won't replace it with another Nexus since TMO doesn't sell it.

Yeah I figured as much since they offered you an S3. I am surprised, I didn't think they'd insure a device they didn't sell. I was considering ditching the insurance on my line since I got the nex, but will probably leave it now since I know that.
S3 is tempting... I would go for it, just for the bigger screen. If you don't like it, it's easy to sell and replace with another gnex. But I get serious phone ADD, so I like changing it up.

I work with Koreans and I'm pretty sure they all know about the GS III, (they even know about the Galaxy Note II and it hasn't even been released yet) but they've never heard of or ever seen a Galaxy Nexus. When they first saw my phone they told me it looked a lot better than the GS III and also commented about the clean appearance.
Did you have to talk to a live rep or just submit the claim online?

Because it doesn't have the ugly samsung logo in front of the phone, huge + imo.

I think the question of the hour is, are you on tmobile contract with insurance or the new prepaid insurance? A lot of us are probably wondering about that...
Also personally I would go for the SIII... My girl just got one on a upgrade for her sero account. I hate touchwiz, but CM10 is out and I would bet CM11 (Android 4.2) wont take very long after the ASOP is released.
I also wouldn't worry about device support. Samsung has already sold over 20 million of them and it will probably be samsungs top selling phone. Too many people will have them for the developer community here to stop supporting them for some time. I upgrade every year or so myself, I would definitely trade out my Gnex for a SIII..
I really like having some hardware buttons so I don't have to use something like LMT for fullscreen and having the SDCard slot is alos a +
That insurance company will cover any phone you may have. It doesnt matter they even cover the iPhone for that matter. It doesnt have to be a tmobile phone but of course they will offer you a tmobile phone. But for a Gnexus a s3 thats good... oh and one thing they will send it to you brand new not old. because you are having a different phone replaced. so get the s3 sale it buy a gnexus and have some cash on your pocket. Good deal
Has anyone seen good deals on a Galaxy Nexus off contract? I'm on Verizon and I was thinking about getting a nexus but I want to keep unlimited.
I wanted a new one but they are still retailing for $500-$600 so i may go used.

If your looking for a VZW Nexus Verizon sells a return cheap off contract
I got mine off of Craigsist for $150 a few months back to keep my unlimited data. They still tried to move me to tiered data. Quick phone call work customer service fixed that.

Are you in California? If you happen to be in the area (which I kind of doubt), I'll be receiving my refurbished (from Samsung) Gnex in the next two weeks after repairs. That one's not my primary so I can let that one go.
They're giving me a new screen under warranty :victory: No more burn-ins or ghosting. This is the second time Sammy's done a replacement for me (two different phones), so I gotta spread some love for them around here.
No I live in New Orleans. That's too bad. I've found a couple of listings online that look good. I was hoping that I could find a new one for a bargain though.
Has anyone gotten a Verizon GN refurb lately? It seems it's been removed from Verizon's inventory so I'm wondering if I'll get a GN or they'll substitute something else for it. I really don't want to get some Motorola phone or something.
Got one at the end of December, but that was before it disappeared from sales.

From what I understand when you want I replacement nexus. Verizon will probably give you whatever they have left in the back.
Dont count on Verizon upgrading you, Its going to be a LONG time before that happens.
I just received a replacement yesterday after the current replacement only lasted 6 months before dying.
I will say this. the QC has gotten 10000% better than a few months ago, back in July I went through 3-4 replacements and they all
had problems, The one i got yesterday is perfect.
I received my "like new" refurbished phone about a month ago, right around the time they stopped showing up on their website. When they say "like new" they weren't kidding. It was flawless. Looked brand new to me. Not even the tiniest of scratches or knicks could be found. I'm sure they have a good number on hand to serve as replacements. I'd assume they can get a fair number refurbs from samsung at any time as well.
When I went in to ask for a warranty replacement I was trying to get the lady at the store to "accidentally" have a note 2 sent to me, but she just laughed.
From what ive been reading, since the Gnex is discontinued if you need a replacement verizon is sending out samsung gs3 to you.

That would be sweet. I noticed one post in the GS3 section saying that's what happened to him.
I sprung for overnight shipping. We'll find out tomorrow if the Fedex guy doesn't get lost in the snowpocalypse.

Yup, got a GNex. I'm going to put it on Craigslist and think about getting a refurb GS3 if I can find a good price.
