[Q] NITRO Random Power Shutdown - LG Nitro HD

Hi guys,
Just recently, my wife and I have been experiencing power shutdowns on the phone. It can be fully charged and I can be text messaging and the phone will just shut down! (Like I manually shut her down holding the power-button) It does it to my wife's phone double the time and she is nagging me about it. Of course this has started happening as soon as our 1 month grace period on the phone has ended.
Anyone else?
Gino

I have not heard of this happening before. Does your phone get really hot for any reason?

My phone randomly reboots repeatedly until I either power down or pull the battery. Is this what is happening?

Have you tried update system software? Maybe this will help

It did it to my wife's phone about an hour after the upgrade.

Yes!

I've had the hot phone issue once! That was real odd!

Well, even after 30 days, you still have a one year warranty. If you live by one of the service centers, you can go there and they do same-day warranty replacements. If not, try calling in to customer care and they will transfer you to warranty exchange by mail. They may have you try a factory reset to troubleshoot, so make sure you have everything backed up first.

I think this is something with the LG rom. It happened to me often until I installed CM9.

No ****. This issue seems to be happening more frequently since I flashed Kernals rom. I'm not quite ready to try CM9 yet.

I've had it happen several times. I'm rooted, but no custom rom or anything. Just root. It did it before root and its done it after root. Mine isn't a power down, but a reboot at random.

This is the first and last LG I will own.

That's what happens to mine and my wife's phone. Read your email and boom....there's the LG Logo and the phone is starting up! I'm waiting to root this phone in case I have to return it for warranty! I miss CM, but I Don't want to void my warranty....

Phone reboots

Hey folks
These aren't really random reboots, and they don't seem to be caused by an app. They're more like 'when I touch it the wrong way' reboots. If I set the phone down, or pick it up, sometimes it will reboot.
I checked the battery contacts so that's not it. I'm thinking its either a problem with some internal contacts, or something with the accelerometer.
Has anyone experienced something similar? I just passed my 1 year manufacturer warranty period, unfortunately.
Thanks

Hmm sounds like a hardware prob. It shouldn't be the accelerometer. Does it reboot when u are using it?
It rarely reboots when I'm using it. It will usually reboot when I pick it up or set it down. If I drop it on my bed from 2 feet up for example, it may reboot. What's weird is that its not a guarantee. In fact I've gone days without a reboot, and sometimes I'll get numerous reboots in a day.

Several people have noted there can be a problem with the battery not fitting snugly into the chassis of the phone. When you drop it, the contacts on the battery can move slightly off the contacts on the phone and it can reboot. Some people just shim the battery down a little.

I do not know how far you are out of warranty.
I was in the same situation 2 weeks ago. I was on my last day of warranty (so I thought), when I got tired of the constant reboots. I went to my local TMO store and they claimed that I was out of warranty by one day. Fortunately they put me on the phone with customer service. There it was confirmed that my warranty was out since 1 day. The person was very nice and said: "Let me see what we can do for you". She came back after one minute and offered me a waiver that would have allowed an immediate full upgrade. I told her that TMO does not really have any upgrade that I was interested in (I wanted a keyboard and stock Android), so she went back to her supervisor and came back with the offer that they would assume that my warranty would not run out on that day at 12am, but at midnight and that they would replace the phone under warranty. I have the phone now for a week AND no more reboots. TMO rocks !!
PS: I am with TMO for > 7 years
Yea tmo had some awesome customer service from my experience! I really hope they don't get bought out. Kinda inevitable though since the owners don't want it...boo!
Awesome experience! I work in Customer Service, so I know that I could theoretically get it replaced and whose arm I have to twist to get it. But I don't have the time to spend doing so. My phone hasn't rebooted in a few days now. I did a full wipe before I flashed my next nightly. I have my fingers crossed that it stays that way.

I feel silly even mentioning this, because I thought I might be the only one dumb enough to suffer from it, but I will go ahead and mention it anyhow. I was hating the reboots with my G2, and found somewhere that I needed to actually make sure the SD basket was locked in place. I had replaced my SD card, and didn't realize it slides into a locked position. Have never had a reboot since I clicked it in place. That was months ago. Hope it is something that simple for you. Yes... I know I was a dufus for not realizing how the SD basket worked.
I had the exact same problem and I could not figure it out. I finally did a complete wipe and reinstalled problem stopped. I also converted my partitions to ext4 but not sure if that would make a difference.
Could it be the radio?
I did a full wipe prior to flashing CM #231. I used titanium backup to restore my apps. Now the reboots were gone!
But my GPS problems returned. I flashed the next best radio 26.08.04.30. Last time I initially switched radios to fix my gps problem. GPS is still broke, and now I am rebooting again.

My phone is going crazy!

Has anyone ever heard of a phone basically going crazy? Ive been on mexperia for probably close to a year now and loved it. Never had a single issue with it. This last week my phone started acting really funny and becoming really un responsive. In a way it has had a mind of its own.. For example, i open the phone app and it starts scrolling through contacts chosing them at random and dialing in some cases. Sometimes if i try to manually dial a number it will just start dialing random numbers on its own. Same goes for messaging and just about all other apps. My phone just does what it wants to and i cant stop it. My home and back buttons stop working and my sreens scroll on their own.
Today i decided to switch roms to mexdroid atomic and its doing the same thing. I did a nandroid backup, I wiped data/reset, wiped dalvik and battery stats like im supposedd to and its still the same. It took me 20 mins to get through the setup because i couldnt type in my gmail account name with out it typing a bunch of random letters.. So, i guess its not the rom and must be my device.
Side note.. I take very good care of my phone and it has never seen a drop of water so its not physical damage.
Also, i notcied that when i lock the phone...wait a few seconds... and then unlock it, it will function normally for the next 10-15 seconds. It gets annoying because it takes me a few minutes to write a text or make a phone call. I have to type a few words, lock it, unlock it, type a few more words etc..
Sorry this is kinda long but im just hoping someone has experienced something like this or may have heard of this happening before and can help.
Yea i have the same problem still suffering from it i think its the digitizar that needs to b replaced.

I hear ya bud! Just got off the phone with tmobile a few hours ago and I'm getting a mytouch 4g slide tomorrow!
My phone started acting real weird about 5 days ago. When charging at first, it would say it was charging, then when unplugged drop any and all charge crazy fast. Then there were times when it said it was charging, and it would sit all night on the charger and be 65 percent in the morning. Then there are times it doesn't even want to charge at all, or you have to hold it or place it just the right way to get it to charge. Tried my wifes battary from her g2 and the same thing was going on. Put my battary in her phone and it worked in her phone like it was new! I think its something with the connector on the inside, but this is my second g2, the first had screen issues.
Tmobile offered me another g2 for $5, or an Mytouch 4g Slide for the same. Hate to part ways with the phone but it's time to try something new.

I guess im going to have to send it in for another one. I just hope tmo doesnt freak because its rooted. My phone is spazzing so much i doth think i will be able to get it back to stock..
This is my second to send it. The first one was rooted and s-off. Don't worry, won't be a problem. As long as physically the phone is in good condition and no water void.

Rom flash error?

I was flashing the Energy Rom and I received and error when it was trying to install the kernel. I tried again, same thing. Foolishly, I rebooted instead of restoring. Now my phone won't turn on, led is off when plugged in. Looks dead. I plugged into my PC and it finds new hardware (which I think is a good sign), it is referring to my phone as QHSUSB_DLOAD. Also, when I hold the power down it seems to try to reboot as the computer finds the new hardware again. I tried with the volume up, home, and power same response, also volume down, home, and power, same response. My phone was successfully rooted prior to this and running perfectly. I made a nandroid back up prior to flash. Not sure what to do at this point. Please advise!! Thank you all in advance. I am using T-Mobile too.
Looks like I am bricked from what I have been reading. Phone is under 2 weeks old...can I send it back or should I just report it lost at this point and pay $130 and have a new phone in a day?
Called insurance and told them I lost the phone. Hopefully there will be a fix for this in the future and I will have a backup phone that I can sell.
you hardbricked it....lol. Even if a fix comes out carriers are now blacklisting lost&stolen phones.

Edited.
Carriers have been doing that for a long time. Go LOL at your face, dude was asking advice you ****head. Realistically he could have just called T-Mobile and say the device wouldn't turn on, justifying a free warranty exchange.
Hey I actually had the same problem. I bought my phone from Craigslist and didn't know if I could go through T-Mobile for exchanging. I researched this problem for the Galaxy S2 and other Samsung devices, and I read that people sent their devices into Samsung and got it fixed. I decided to do the same; I called Samsung and explained my problem to the rep. She emailed me a UPS label for the phone, and I sent it in. They replaced my phone with a new unit, and it should be back tomorrow.

[Q] Phone just randomly bootlooped

Running custom ROM's isn't something new to me, however I'm stumped on this one.
I was running the latest AOKP without a hitch. Been two days in fact. Unplugged this morning, was typing a text message and BAM, phone rebooted (vibrated) and constantly reboots.
I took the battery out, tried again.... same outcome. I can get it into recovery, but 3-4 seconds into it, it starts it's rebooting process again.
The only thing I know to do is ODIN back to stop, and format internal storage.
Anyone ran into this problem or seen this recently?
Thanks,
It sounds like you have a stuck power button . Tty cleaning out the power button's hole and if that doesn't help or fix it, send your phone in for repair.

That is the same thing I said, originally. I've taken a part a lot of phones in my day, but do not want to void the errr.... 'warranty'. So, I just contacted Tmobile and they are sending another one. I did put it back to stock, using ODIN. Do not ask me how I got it to actually stay on long enough to use download mode, but I did.
The bad part is Tmobile currently has this phone backlogged for 2-4 weeks. So, Asurion cannot even get me a phone until then. I'm going to call tomorrow and raise holy hell with Tmobile and see what they do.
How would you go about cleaning this out? The button still has the pressed in feeling, i can even hear the spring back click.

Unrooted LGG4 LG-H815 went dead..

Couple of nights ago I was texting, my G4 suddenly froze on me. I tried pressing on the power button for 10 seconds but it didn't work, so I took the battery out..
Now here's the issue, when I hit the power button it gets stuck at the LG logo screen.. Then it shuts off again..
I've tried doing a hard reset, safe mode and etc.. Not none of that seems to work, it's like my phone has been completely wiped out.
I don't think it's bricked, because last night I tried the safe mode method again. Blue light came on and it started to initiate the apps again, but it got stuck at 1% and it shut down again..
I need help and I hope someone in here knows what's going on, keep in mind. I have never rooted my LG-H815 phone, been stock since I got it..
So please, give me some info or guide me to a solution.. I don't feel like buying a t-mobile branded LGG4.. [emoji30] [emoji22]
Happened to me too, left it on the charger overnight it tried to boot up but bootlooped then died and never turned on again. This was also when i was not rooted. Sent it to bell who sent it to LG and i got a brand new phone back, it kind of sucked because i paid to have it unlocked and obviously the new phone wasn't unlocked so i paid to get it done again. But LG sent me a brand new non refurb back in 4 days and said the motherboard was faulty on my phone. Sometimes lemons happen but LG was surprisingly great as ive heard nightmare stories about them but not in my case.

Damn, I was thinking it might be a motherboard issue as well..
I called LG directly and they said they couldn't help me at all, since it was a trial phone and it's not covered by their warranty. I wonder if t-mobile can help me out.. I doubt they will though, but I'm going to try it out..
Thanks for the reply!
