Couple of nights ago I was texting, my G4 suddenly froze on me. I tried pressing on the power button for 10 seconds but it didn't work, so I took the battery out..
Now here's the issue, when I hit the power button it gets stuck at the LG logo screen.. Then it shuts off again..
I've tried doing a hard reset, safe mode and etc.. Not none of that seems to work, it's like my phone has been completely wiped out.
I don't think it's bricked, because last night I tried the safe mode method again. Blue light came on and it started to initiate the apps again, but it got stuck at 1% and it shut down again..
I need help and I hope someone in here knows what's going on, keep in mind. I have never rooted my LG-H815 phone, been stock since I got it..
So please, give me some info or guide me to a solution.. I don't feel like buying a t-mobile branded LGG4.. [emoji30] [emoji22]
Happened to me too, left it on the charger overnight it tried to boot up but bootlooped then died and never turned on again. This was also when i was not rooted. Sent it to bell who sent it to LG and i got a brand new phone back, it kind of sucked because i paid to have it unlocked and obviously the new phone wasn't unlocked so i paid to get it done again. But LG sent me a brand new non refurb back in 4 days and said the motherboard was faulty on my phone. Sometimes lemons happen but LG was surprisingly great as ive heard nightmare stories about them but not in my case.

Damn, I was thinking it might be a motherboard issue as well..
I called LG directly and they said they couldn't help me at all, since it was a trial phone and it's not covered by their warranty. I wonder if t-mobile can help me out.. I doubt they will though, but I'm going to try it out..
Thanks for the reply!

I know there must be somewhere in the thread but i can't find one with the same problem as mine. I was in middle of odin to put my phone back to stock. and it was stuck for over a half hr at the same place. so i unplugged it and tried to put it back on but it wont go the only thing that turns on is the blue light. i already tried the jig. its a no go. how can i unbrick this phone?
My phone has shut itself off then when i try to turn it back on i get nothing but a blue light what worked for me was taking the battery out for a couple minutes then trying it again. Have you tried that?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
That happened to me when the phone first came out. Only a blue light came on and nothing else. Even the jig didn't work. I ended up just selling it and buying a new one. I hope someone has figured out a way to fix it for you

You have hard bricked your phone most likely. Like it was said, you can try to remove the battery for a few minutes to see if resetting the capacitors will fix it but I am ninety nine percent sure that it will not work. You have two options.
1) Play dumb at a sprint store
2) JTAG repair from mobiletechvideos
What you have done is flashed over the bootloader so you can no longer boot it or plug it into the computer. Can you post a link to the file that you flashed? My guess is that you flashed an i9000 tar and PIT which is not compatible with the E4GT. Not all Galaxy S2 phones are the same. In fact, they are all different.

I did the exact same thing when I first rooted my phone but by the grace of god odin still recognized it so I was able to flash back to stock.

That my friend is exactly right. Your cell is gone... Swap or jtag is your only options.
I am going to give the, "taking the battery out for a couple of min", a shot... I was afraid that those two were my last options. The phone is maybe 2 months old and I am not with sprint anymore. Is there a way to claim through warranty or something?

Good question... I do believe that there is a one year manufacturer warranty, but don't know how you would go about making a claim. I would definitely recommend the jtag service its only like $50. Even sprint would charge you $35 to swap if you were still with the m. So if you look at out that way $15 more ain't so bad.

Remove battery. Replace. Plug into charger. Does the batt charging screen come on? If so hold power until it boots. Done. Do your happy dance.. If no charge indication = brick.
The batt recharge didnt come on ill see if i can somehow claim by samsung if not then ill have to send it in to jtag

Dude that's a bummer. Good luck. Hwy keep us updated on how it turns out.
This same thing happened to me!
What did you end up doing?
This happened to me too, but after flashing gunslinger kernel. I did a battery pull, then it let me boot into recovery.

same thing happened to me, went back to best buy where i got it and said "i dont know what happened", got a new one on the spot.
On top of it, when i got it at best buy they price matched amazon mobile, so i got it for 130
I Also bought it from Best Buy! But it was two months ago... You think i can still do it by them?
After an hour of searching forums I had realized that the phone was dead and wasn't coming back on. I too had the same blue light problem, couldn't get into recovery, couldn't do anything with the black screen. I took it to Sprint, and they don't have the capability of turning it back on in store. I believe this needs to be done by Samsung, and I imagine Best Buy wouldn't be able to either. The tech told me if he could not repair it, it would be replaced. My concern was the ship time and getting a refurbished unit. He told me because the phone was so new they are almost always replaced with a new unit. He said it was $35 because I didn't have insurance, but to "Come back after an hour, and if I can't fix it and it is insured it will be replaced free of charge." I went home, had Sprint add insurance, went back to the store a couple hours later. They swapped out my unit for a brand new one, free of charge, in about 5 minutes, activated and all. I was very pleased with how everything went as I was PISSED at myself for bricking my phone so bad! In all my years of hacking Palm Pres and Evos I never bricked a phone so bad that it couldn't be powered back on! But now I have a new GS2 (ROOTED )!
I recommend just trying a Sprint Repair Center. I bought mine over the phone. I played dumb and said that I let it die completely, which I rarely do, and when I charged it the blue light went on and it never powered back up. They said that was weird but gave no qualm about it. Hope this helps..
My phone hardbricked for no apparent reason, and I'm not sure what to do. Battery was at about 50% yesterday, it turned off and wouldn't turn back on. I did a soft reset, and it turned on. I watched it go as far as the logo and then had to walk away. When I came back, the phone was black again. And it hasn't turned on since. No logo, nothing. I've tried a soft reset, plus multiple other reset combinations. I plugged my phone to the computer, I get the normal connecting 'ding', but then it says that driver's device cannot be found.
I'm running stock firmware, no mods. No history of battery issues (except the normal slow decline). I've had the phone for a year and three weeks, so I'm out of warranty too. I called T-mobile and they said it sounds like a hardbrick and are willing to switch it out for $20 since I'm out of warranty. I can't do that since I'm out of the country for the next 1.5 months, so I was wondering if anyone out there had any suggestions on what to do or why this even happened?
Thanks!

does it respond to plugging in to charge? im not 100% but if its responding at all when it gets plugged in its not hardbricked only softbricked so go from there. when i hardbricked my first s2 due to a corrupt kernel file i flashed it would not react to anything at all. complete dead weight
U stated that when u plugged it into ur computer u got a ding then says driver device not found. Sounds to me that ur not in a hard birck when I bricked mine I didn't even get that. Check out the link it well help.

Thanks for everyone's help. I ended up sending in my phone to a Samsung service center (while I was in Korea). They confirmed that it is a hardbrick. They opened it up and said it looked like there was a short and it fried the motherboard. They couldn't tell me what caused the short--they said maybe some water got into the phone through the charging port, but I know that isn't true... I had it plugged into an old power strip and maybe that's why? :crying:
Either way, I was told my only option was to get the motherboard replaced which would be $200. I told them no thanks and that I'd just get a replacement phone from T-mobile for $20.

I know my story sounds unlikely, but it's the truth. Isn't this forum around to help fellow users? I have no reason to lie here. I actually take very good care of my phone and (after almost losing a laptop to a water spill) am extremely cautious about liquids around my electronic devices. You don't have to believe me since I'll get my phone replaced regardless. I just thought I would share the information in case someone else ends up facing the same problem.
Even now, the only cause I can come up with still is the old power strip frying the motherboard. *shrug* I would love to hear any other explanations.
Hello, my Verizon One won't seem to charge. The other day I woke up, used my phone till it was at about 85%, then topped it off back to 100% before I left as I was going to be on the road most of the day. When I took it off the charger I noticed it was a bit warm, not excessively so but noticeable. A couple of minutes later (it had been off the charger) I noticed it was getting hotter. I restarted it hoping for the problem to sort itself out. Maybe 30 minutes later the battery had dipped to 25% and the phone was very warm. I started to get worried and turned it off. Hoping that would at least postpone the problem I put it aside and didn't mess with it. About another half hour later I picked up the phone to see if it had cooled off, only to find that it was even hotter! I got very worried and actually had to hold an ice cube to the back of the phone because I'd heard of bad things happening to overheating phones. That seemed to solve the problem and the battery seemed to have finally run out because it didn't heat up anymore. I got home and tried to charge it to no avail. The thing seems to be completely dead. I was running CM 11 but I hadn't messed with any processor settings. I thought it would be a software issue because of the beta version of CM but idk after it continued to overheat after it was shut down. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also, if I should just send it to HTC support let me know. I've been reluctant to contact them since the phone is rooted and all...
I have heard to place the phone under a light with the charging cord hooked up. I know it sounds weird but people says it works. I have heard nothing but horror stories about cm11 and refuse to run that Rom. From issues that you describe to it breaking the lte radio and having to flash an ruu to get it working again. There are so many other Roms that are real good.

Before all this CM11 worked great. No lag and everything seemed to work fine minus a couple occasional glitches. Could it be the ROM as it continued to heat when turned off?
I've had the phone on the charger for about a day now, no sign of life. What will happen if I send it to HTC support?
Where did you get the phone? Most likely if from Verizon you can contact their customer support line, tell them it isn't charging and they'll send you a refurb. I just don't mention to them that the phone is rooted and they have always exchanged mine without issue.

There's no harm in calling Verizon tech support, telling them your problem and asking for a replacement device. The worst they can say is no. But then you'd have other options. I don't see them telling you no. I had an issue with a phone a got off Craigslist and they replaced it. I didn't tell them I wasn't the original owner but it was only a few months old and shouldn't matter anyway. They didn't even ask tho.

The exact same thing happened to me about a month ago and I have been terrified to send it in to HTC or use my Squaretrade replacement program for fear they would figure out it was rooted and send me back my broken device with a voided warranty.
Finally I took it into verizon yesterday and they are now sending me a new one in the mail.
I have to send them my broken one after I receive the new one and I'm afraid they might detect its rooted and charge me the $600 for the new device they sent me.
Anyone gone through something similar?

I bought my HTS One from Viva Mobil too, and it clearly was shipped by Verizon.
Three weeks ago, it stopped booting or charging. I walked into a local VZW store and they couldn't wake it either, so they couldn't see I had rooted the phone. They ordered a warranty replacement for me.
I doubt that they're going to bother to see what ROM is on the returned unit..

Just got back from the VZW store, they took it but said "if any software manipulation was detected" I would be charged $300 for the refurb phone. Better than $600 but I'm kinda worried.
I believe this is associated with running a non sense based rom on the phone. There was another guy who had his phone overheat and speakers blown when he was running AOSP, and I know the overheating thing happened to multiple people. I feel like for some reason it's too risky to run AOSP because of these horror stories so if I want an AOSP feel I'll just run a GPE rom with xposed to tweak it how I like. Never had bad luck since, and I predict I won't have any in the future since these roms are made for our hardware by HTC themselves.

probably the same problem a lot of other people are having. I also had the same symptoms as you, on rooted 13B.
you can try resetting or reflashing your phone but most likely you need a replacement.
theirs a problem with the motherboard going bad, i just had the same problem and lg sent me a replacement under warranty but i wasnt rooted

I put the phone in download mode and flashed 13B KDZ. But unfortunately my phone got back in the bootlop. Good thing I'm gettingmy replacement
It's a hardware issue, not software. A lot of the earlier G4s have "loose contacts" that cause the bootloop to occur. LG has acknolwedged it and are replacing any affected phones without incident. Just call verizon and they'll ship a new one.
Yup, happened to me just his week. VZW shipped another one to arrive the next day. FWIW, I strongly recommend everyone backup their phone to removable SD card using LG's on board Backup utility. If this challenge happens to you, getting back up and running quickly will be much easier if you have this backup ready to go.
...my $.02.
Happened to me as well last night. Took it back to Verizon today and they are sending me another one. I didn't have insurance and no questions were asked. Obviously they recognize the problem. Last LG phone I will own! Unless the G5 is insane. Hehe
Happened to me as well, yesterday. Interesting how this is happening to everyone at almost the same timeframe. I'll take it to Verizon to get a replacement shipped.
I had the same problem, and contacted LG support and they said it will take 9 business days to repair the phone. This seemed like an awful long time to be without a phone, I asked if there was any way to speed the process up and they said no. Thankfully I was able to borrow a phone from work for the duration of the repairs. Considering how this is a major problem with many handsets, I think LG is handling the whole situation pretty badly.
Here we go again...
Another LG phone having boot loops...
Bought from Best Buy on April 5TH with no protection...
May 6 phone started its random turn off....Have to do a battery pull and rest it for 10 minutes to get it to start up again..
After a min or two , it powers off again..
Yes, I was able to do soft and hard re-sets to no avail...
Just filed a repair request with LG...

I had the same issue with Sprint LG G5. I bought it in April 13 the from Best Buy. It started to reboot 3 times at first and got real hot before it started rebooting. I took it to Sprint repair center where they suggested to do a factory reset. I told them I can do that. But before I was able to do a factory reset, it finally died. Sprint didn't want to replace the phone since I didn't have insurance. I might have to send it to LG for warranty repair which will take 9 business days. Do not buy the LG G5..
About a week and a half after I got my G5 it overheated really badly and turned itself off and wouldn't restart after attempting to reboot several times. I disconnected it from the power source let it cool off then plugged it in using the OEM power wart that came with the phone. That worked and the phone restarted. A week later the same happened. The phone overheated and attempted to restart several times and this time it seemed hotter than the first time. It turned itself off eventually and I was unable to turn it back on again. Less than three weeks into ownership and the phone was completely unresponsive and dead. I took it into the sprint dealership and they initially refused to replace the phone despite the fact it was under a month before this problem surfaced. They wanted to take the dead phone and have a new one shipped out to me. I told them that was unacceptable and they came up with the compromise that if I signed up for protection now they would backdate it and give me a new replacement phone. I took the deal with the full intention of canceling the protection plan within a month or two after I'm sure this new phone isn't going to be an issue. The new phone has been pretty solid for me so far. It gets warmer than I like but that may just be a product of hypersensitivity to heat after the first phone. That was the first time with any phone that I've ever had where a phone catastrophically failed on me like that. Sprint's response at the their shop was completely unacceptable given the time frame since purchase. I like the phone but I'm not liking how ownership of it is starting out. This was about two weeks ago now and I'm still gunshy with this phone afraid this new one is going to crash on me as well. I do not like that feeling. Thank God I have a backup phone just in case.
Goes to show phones these days are not built the same. I've had the g5 since day 1, not any of the problems I've read I've had since owning the phone. I got mine from a Sprint store also. Only issue I have is the slight lag I have when connecting to anything internet related. I believe that to be something kernel related.
