I have the option to trade one of my NIB BAs straight up for a NIB Wizard (cingular 8125), Threw up the hermes as well to see. I'd like to hear some suggestions from you folks that have used both, or just want to pop in their two cents. Would be greatly appreciated my brothas.
Problem I have with the sx66 it's shear size and weight. I won't be using edge, or any bells and whistles just as a playtoy basically to demo. So the BA actually thinner it appears but packs on the weight?
(US Americanas)
8125===== 4.25" x 2.28" x 0.93" == 5.64 oz-wt
8525===== 4.43" x 2.28" x 0.86" == 6.1 oz-wt
sx66===== 4.92" x 2.83" x 0.75" == 7.41 oz-wt
(Rest of world )
8125===== 108 x 58 x 24 mm == 160 g
8525===== 113 x 58 x 22 mm == 176 g
sx66===== 125 x 71 x 18 mm == 210 g
Hopefully nobody jumps my case for this question! (if this is in the 'wrong area' to ask, then direct me to the right one please.) haha
BA
I've been a BA user for one year. Last Week, one of my friend went to my home and showed off his Wizard(Cingular 8125). My idea is,
Disadvantage,
a. Wizard runs so slow even you over clocking it. Multi-process will make your device significant lag. Skype w/ wifi, forget it. Ti's 200Mhz micro processor is the key point. Evan BA does not equiped with the lastest version of Intel's micro processor, it's still faster than Wizard.
b. 2.8" scrren is not as big as I espected.
Advantage,
More portable, more slim, light weight, fancy side-sliding qwerty keyboard. Long battery life.
Your Choice, Sir
Hi, i have viewed a Wizard one week ago from my friend, very small & cute to view, i don't have testet at all it's performance....but the same night i decide to buy one XDA like the wizard and start to read this forum from one part to other, and the final impression is that BA is better than Wizard for the performance of it's Xscale @ 400 mhz, more people write that his Wizard's is too much slow on multitasking application, and this make me mad, i come from Symbian S60 smathphone (nokia 6600) that have a 100Mhz ARM cpu and i don't want a texas instrument dual core cpu that seems to be slower than my old s60 phone
then i have buy a BA from Ebay (it's on the way of my home)...first for performance and second for the bigger screen and third for his tiny keyboard
The Incredible will be released soon in the US - around 2 weeks.
Rumoured specifications seem better than the Desire, eg 8MP camera
I don't know if it will work in the EU and given its imminent release, I'm surprised the Incredible doesnt have its own sub-forum.
Anyone know what the deal is with the HTC Incredible and why there isn't more interest at XDA?
1 - Its CDMA (Verizon).
2 - Very little is known about it (maybe 1 or 2 pictures).
3 - Since it's CDMA and none of the international carriers are selling it, once again not a lot is known.
Those are just my ideas (WTF do I know?). Give it some time. Once it hits, people will start talking.

XDA is more a development site for phones that are already released. Once released (April 6th my uneducated guess) there will be more interest. There is more info at other sites, I will PM you the address

the Desire have more RAM (576 MB) and better battery (1400 mAh), and also the desire is rumored to have 720p recording, the camera is a boost to the incredible
multitouch bug is not a big issue IMO

No, that's actually been debunked.
I didn't like the original images that were leaked but the new images with more detail paints it in a different light. I also didn't like the low ram specs that were initially released but it seems that has be corrected. I may get one. I'm getting tired waiting for the desire.

Well, the Desire isn't actually released yet either, yet here we are Or is it?
I don't see why not, since this chinese company is already doing it with their phone! C'mon HTC, quit falling behind!

Those specs are pretty much the expected standard for 2010 android smartphones. I agree with Nate, not impressed.

Really "expected standard"? What smartphones on the market today sport 10-finger multi touch and 1024x640 display?

Have to agree with not very impressed. Good luck using all 10 of your fingers at once. Some things are overkill to me...
Do you really think there will be an "evo 2"?

The G2 will be out for the holidays, why not an EVO2
A 5mp camera??? I don't believe this one bit!
10 fingers.... lol. That almost seems like BS to me. It's pointless. Seems like manufacturers are trying to squeeze any inane feature into their phone to make it seems like it's the "next" big thing.
Do we really need a higher resolution with the same screen sizes? Everything we have now looks great at the current resolution. Maybe someone can explain the benefits of increasing the resolution?
what requires you to use 10 fingers? i cant find a single app that runs 3 point multitouch.. ... good luck with that..

I would love to see a higher resolution screen. However, I wouldn't go so far as to put 1080p on a smartphone. 1280x800 seems like a practical limit. For starters, the web browsing experience would be just like a desktop web browsing experience. And you could play 720p video. And hopefully, with Gingerbread, we could fit more widgets onto our home screens.
I have a net book that's 1024x600 and even that is limiting in its use.

I use more than 3-points using Nesoid to play NES games for several games. 10-point is overkill, though, IMO.
If you scroll down the article to the latest update, it reads:
"Last update : Jack Wong has just unveiled that he will abort the old screen resolution of 780×480 and replaced it with the a new 3,5-inch screen offering a iPhone 4 like resolution of 960×640 which will be called Meizu M9. Moreover the Meizu M9II will be equipped with a 4-inch screen with a resolution of 1024×640."
The real questions are how good is the GPU and is it a real HDMI out. Processor speed and RAM is the same as the Evo. At this point, the Evo's 4.3" screen is bigger than the M9II at 4", and the Evo has a better camera, a front-facing camera, the kick-stand (which I use plenty with my SlingBox), and a lot more accessories and development. I wouldn't buy this over an Evo just for the resolution.
Well whatever the summer 2011 Sprint/Android phone is, I do believe that it'll have a higher res screen. The Adreno 220 (which comes with the dual core 1.2 GHz 45nm Snapdragons due in the first half of 2011) supports up to 1280x800 but I doubt that we'll see that in anything but tablets. On phones we'll probably see the dual core CPU down clocked to 800 MHz - 1 GHz (which would still make it a lot faster than anything on the market now) and the same 1024x640 display as on that phone. Why 1024x640? All apps would scale pretty perfectly (same ratio as 800x480).

I disagree with a few things. Let's start with the web experience. Sure, having a desktop resolution means that you could see more of a web page... but with a 4-4.3" screen, you can't read text that small. Besides, you can just zoom out to see more. So I'm not too convinced there.
As for widgets, you can load as many as your launcher allows. HTC would fit more widgets if they were smaller. Same size as they would be if you increased the resolution but kept the same screen size. I think the limit we have now is fine simply because anything more would be really cluttered.
The Galaxy S phones can play 720p movies, but of course they are downscaled. But you still get the same level of detail. It's insane watching a 720p movie on my Epic. Can't imagine anything being sharper than that.
I mean... the iPhone 4 has a larger resolution than the iPhone 3GS... but the desktop experience is unchanged. Icons are the same size. Still need to zoom in to read small text. Etc etc...

I disagree here. It's not really about seeing more, it's about the clarity of small text (which gets easier to read at higher DPI's.
The iPhone 4's display is relatively small compared to the EVO's 4.3" but even at that size the extra DPI makes smaller text more readable on the iPhone 4 than on the EVO. I should know since I own both and have perfect vision.
4.3" w/ a 1024x640 resolution would be KILLER for web browsing and e-reading.

What's so funny about that? 1024x640 is the widescreen version of the iPhone 4's 960x640, and it's worth it from my use.
I would hope it would be a 720p screen not some off the wall resolution like that.

It will take a while for smart phones to reach 720p. The DPI would be ridiculous on mid size screens.
