That's a much older build though that JBQ admitted had some bugs that were quite bad. Better to way a day or so for the official build.

Can't wait for this. Will the native tethering hack still work with it?

It's not that much older. IMM74 is exactly 34 days newer than IMM30. The second M says they're both from the same quarter of the year. The two builds were made 30 days and 74 days into quarter M.

I will wait for miui version.

Do you use a custom launcher or put everything in folders? Tried to get into MIUI, but not for me unless there is a better way to use it.

Irrelevant to the thread, but when I used MIUI briefly, I used a custom launcher. I really don't like not having an app drawer. I like minimalist desktops

This thread is irrelevant to itself (if that's a thing). This is the development section so this should probably be in the general section. Believe me, the developers know this information a) because it's posted all over the interwebs today and b) they are developers and their new code beacons go off when ever El Goog releases new code.

I personally highly doubt that there is a huge differ in performance increase from the already leaked build for CDMA version and the newly pushed out one. Some of the increased performances that are said it has I experience with the already leaked build. The camera is faster opening. The rotation is much faster. I don't experience any bugs.
When we actually get the official one you can bet I will put that on here and root it so I can benefit from overclocking and underclocking (good battery life)

Surely someone with over 400 posts would know that this has no business in the development forum.

You've been running an alpha build (basically) of the LTE version. It lacks updated kernels, drivers, and maybe even code. It was an accidental release.
So as awesome as it is, it's very possible it'll be even better when it comes out.

Froyo + Sense ROM?

Is there a stable Froyo with Sense out there, one based on the Evo's ROM cause I did flash a rom by avalaunch. But it was based on the desire. I didn't like that and it didn't seem as fluid. So my question is... Is there a Froyo with Sense ROM out there thats stable and based on the Evo? and if there is what features are not working (if any) thank you
So far, all the FroYo roms are missing ( at the very least ) the back camera & 4G. However DamageControl & Cyanogen should have working ROM's within the next few days. Cyanogen will be AOSP, but i think DC might be Sense UI.
I initially thought I'd want an AOSP rom but after trying them I much prefer Sense, mainly for the widgets. Lets hope DC has sense! Wouldnt that be a slap in the face to HTC devs who need until December to complete it.. and DC does it with 2 devs in their spare time?

Htc devs are in no rush and it's not due to be released in December but BY December meaning any time until then
Is there any time frame for when DC development will come out with froyo with sense ROM. I currently am running DC 3.2.3. If they release it will it be listed in DCupdater?
From what I understand Google will not let anyone release 2.2 until N1 has it for a while. HTC has no control over it. It is google's way of keeping the N1 atop of the phone ladder. The same will happen with the next version. Its google's game, we have to play by their rules.

I don't think that's true... The source code is released so anyone can compile it whenever. That's the whole point of it being open.

I've been stalking the DC thread for the past few days & it looks like they're starting to wrap things up. They didn't give an exact ETA, but based off the few comments they have made, i'd guess within the next few days ( i would love it for this weekend ), but i guess we'll just have to wait & see .

Well, not entirely. When Google is finished testing on their "standard" hardware (in this case, the Nexus One) they will designate a final version. Then, HTC needs to get hold of this final version and add support for any unique hardware or software that their devices have. Think of it like release candidates and RTM versions of Windows. PC manufacturers get hold of the release candidates and test versions so that they can develop drivers and make sure their devices all work with the new OS. Then they get the final version, tweak what needs to be tweaked, run it through bug testing, and then pass it along.
In this case, HTC has to get the final version, make sure all of their apps and drivers work, make sure it works on their phones, and then pass it to Sprint for *more* testing to make sure it plays nice with the network and performs well.

CM9 Stable

Looks like the G2 (Desire-Z) will not be getting CM9 stable as I have been keeping an eye on this list since last week's launch:
http://get.cm/?type=stable
Does anyone in this dev thread know why? I know there are unofficial RCs and the nightlies, but I avoid them and only go for stable. I was hoping it would get ICS stable but it appears 7.2 Gingerbread will be this device's final stable ROM.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

We don't have the needed drivers/source code HTC backed out on us. Aside from that though Mimicry is VERY stable I'd recommend flashing it!
Many roms past GB are very stable now. From Sense 4.0, to ICS, to even JB nightlies are reportedly smooth.
I use this ICS as a daily driver and it's very stable (AOKP): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642443
JB nightlies: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605016 Weren't stable when I tried them, but I hear they're really good now. Might try later this week.
It all has to do with drivers being released or something from Qualcomm: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1822694
I don't know if it's true. The thread doesn't provide much information, maybe someone can clarify.
Are the drivers really released and being incorporated into roms? People are saying they are already being used in those JB nightlies.
As for not being out officially by CM... I don't even think they started working on it.

There are no official CM9 roms for the vision. The unofficial roms (Andromadus & the one by jerl92) are the closest thing, but they are only based on Cm9, not released by or associated with the actual Cyanogenmod team. The reason there even is a CM9 based rom is thanks to Andromadus.
That said, Mimicry will have a new version out this week based on the repo for CM9 stable. The non-device specific code anyway, the other branches are of course unofficial and not supplied by the CyanogenMod team.

Yes, the qualcomm drivers have always been incorporated into Andromadus roms as soon as they're available. Since the other roms are based on Andromadus (AOKP, jerl92's), they also incorporate the new drivers.

The word around the Cyanogenmod Google+ site is that its coming but that it will take some time given that the drivers need to basically be written from scratch. This is a list of devices that are being droppped from any further releases of CM past CM7. The vision is not included on the list so you could say there is a glimmer of hope but I guess you have to take it with a grain of salt.

Only mentions of the DesireZ/G2 in that posting is in the comment section, they're probably talking bout semi-newer devices. I still think we have a better chance of getting it 'fully' working under the Andramadus team's effort (still cM9 but probably the best it's going to be for our devices). ie: if drivers are written from scratch, it most likely won't be done by the CM team, but will probably be incorporated into their project when done.

Thats the point. Its not listed among those which are being discontinued and most of those devices are over 2 years old. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to take anything away from the Andramadus team. I'll probably end up giving mimicry a run soon. I'm just trying to point out that the door hasnt been officially shut yet on this device as far as an official cm9 build goes.

*** AT&T JB Leaks are out there *** NEED HELP

Ok .. we all know that XDA members and especially the Dev's are anxious to get there hands on an OFFICIAL AT&T release of JellyBean 4.1.x for our SGSIII's .. well, I can tell you this .. so far, AT&T (that I'm aware of) have already gone through 3 releases .. and NOT one of them have found there way up here on XDA.
The 4 builds so far are:
samsung/d2uc/d2att:4.1.1/JRO03L/I747UCDLI7:user/release-keys
samsung/d2uc/d2att:4.1.1/JRO03L/I747UCDLJ2:user/release-keys
samsung/d2uc/d2att:4.1.1/JRO03L/I747UCDLJ3:user/release-keys
samsung/d2uc/d2att:4.1.1/JRO03L/I747UCDLJ3c:user/release-keys
So .. if ANYONE knows, has access, secrets .. etc etc etc .. please release or leak so that our Dev's can have some real fun
I have searched high and low all over the internet .. I have been unable to find absolutely ZIP on all 3 releases.
And just how did you come across this information?

Ya seriously, we need someone on the inside to release these leaks.
I have been toying with installing a JB custom ROM from here, but all of them have things that just aren't working.
Sometimes I am tempted to just go back to the iPhone and get a 5.
I would love to install an official leak. Would make me feel better.
I am sure we will see something very soon in the form of a leak or info on official release. A Sprint document was just leaked stating the their official JB update pushes tomorrow. Unfortunately its always the case that AT&T takes longer on updates than others.
Ooo, watching this thread eagerly. Phandroid released an article today that Sprint is going to start JB updates for their GS3s starting tomorrow:

Except that CM/AOKP are built almost entirely from source. Considering there isn't really a whole lot that's different between the Sprint, Bell, or whatever other carriers leaked/released their official JB builds for the GS3, i can't imagine having an AT&T specific ROM providing more aide than any of the others have already done.

Regarding what leaks are already out there .. Sprint, Bell, Rogers, T-Mobile etc etc etc // There are still bugs with each one of them on our AT&T SGS3's .. and again, these are of cause leaks .. except the Sprint release which is now Official, and there are even still bugs with that when ported over to ours.
At least, if we can get our hands on a original AT&T leak .. we can see if these same bugs exist between the builds, or if AT&T has everything working as it should .. who knows !!!
That's why I've been posting that there are test builds out there for AT&T .. just cannot find them, or get our hands on them .. I know there is someone out there that has access to these builds .. problem is, that person is telling me that he does "not have permission to release" !!!
I couldn't even get the fella to verify the build numbers for me.

Has development slowed down for our device? Since lollipop got released, there hasn't been many new updates for existing roms or new roms. I know, if I want it, I should develop a rom myself. But, I've never been good at program languages so, I depend on the fine folks here on XDA. I appreciate all their efforts. But, again I ask, has development slowed?
The device is aging, M9 is supposed to be revealed tomorrow. I'm not even sure if they will make the 5.1 Android for M8, and that is much needed, seeing how buggy Lollipop is. I seriously regret updating, I wish I had enough sense to stay wit KitKat, that worked great on my phone.

ViperOneM8 has been updated three times in the last two weeks, with another update to come out in the next few days. Although two of them mostly addressed bug fixes, there were also new features added.
There has been a couple of lollipop nightly builds for this device. To be honest, I don't really notice a slowdown of development.

No i do not share the feeling development slowed down, then again why should a developer spend so much time on these builds when sense 7 is around the corner. I think they pick the most valuable tweaks and parts of optimization.

ROMs and future development

This by no means is a thread for arguing or whatever.
Im so used to seeing a sticky thread with information detailed about the development of the phone. While I've seen threads on magisk and twrp can anyone give a brief summary as of what the status is of getting to the point where we can build ROMs and other stuff.

Not much development yet since it's relatively new. It's not likely to have a whole lot of development for the following reasons.
1. It's expensive.
2. It has duel boot partitions.
3. Android 8.0 code has become more complex, requiring a lot more time that developers probably don't want to spend a lot of time on, I don't blame them.
4. Android software has matured quite a bit that custom roms and tweaks aren't needed as much as they used to be.
5. There are other phones out there that aren't as expensive and much more Dev friendly.OP series for example.
6. Phone manufacturers are locking them down more. Samsung for example.
7. It's expensive.
8. That's my 2 pennies worth
Well for one TWRP is only in beta.
Thanks for the reply. I'm still weighing the option to root but right now I'm not sure it's worth it. Until better support comes out and more devs take it up I think it's best to wait.

Actually twrp has been out of beta for almost 2 weeks (since Dec 1st), but the thread hasn't been updated. That's a perfect example of how much attention is being paid to this phone's development.
The lack of development has been extremely frustrating since that's the main reason I bought this phone, considering most other major brands development has slowed significantly over the last 2 years or so. Looks like I'm gonna jump ship to the OP5T shortly.
I am very shocked at the lack of ROM development for the brand new next gen Nexus phone, I mean Pixel. The phone has been out close to two months now, and this is very sad to see, and isn't good for the long term for this phone. This is not aimed at the developers, just the current state of most phones having locked bootloaders, and the glory days of ROM'ing Android like a crack addict being behind us. But this being a stock Android "developer freindly" phone, this really says a lot with so little development, just depressing.
When I bought my Nexus 6P when it was announced, by month 2, development was crazy and all sort of ROM's, Kernels, and Tweaks. The good old Nexus days looks to be a thing of the past now, and the Pixel is not a Nexus.
Oh well, at least it's not as bad as the Jailbreak scene, which is all but over

Actually twrp has been out of beta for almost 2 weeks (since Dec 1st), but the thread hasn't been updated. That's a perfect example of how much attention is being paid to this phone's development.

LOL since that's what we're doing
TWRP officially supports Pixel 2(XL by extension) since 3.2.0
https://www.xda-developers.com/twrp-3-2-0-released-android-8-0-oreo-zips/
I'm running it now!
ALSO if you click on the downlinks on the page YOU PROVIDED you would see a download link for twrp 3.2.0 official.
You stopped one click short my guy!

Why would I try to download when the page doesn't show a new release?
Also, the TWRP thread says NOT to use 3.2
It's because 3.2.0.0 isn't running 100%. Devs are working on it. Flashing the zip gets you stuck, big time.
You know what.... You guys are totally right, I'm an idiot... I apologize!
I forgot I flashed 3.2.0 -> it didnt work -> I flashed 3.1.1 right back without even thinking lol
