Changing CPU settings for better battery life. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I am hearing a lot about cpu adjustment, over clocking and script stuff for some extended battery life. I searched a lot but couldnt find any nice guide on this. I am running Juggernaut 5.0 with darkside mainline karnel . I am getting 8 hours of battery life. Want some more; since i am heavy user
Please help me on that.

try beast mod, its awesome for battery life.

I'm running Slickmod 2.4 with Gideon's UV script (no setcpu or anything involved) and I'm PRETTY sure I'm getting better battery life than I ever did on Juggs 5.0, maybe try that?

Undervolting/underclocking is what you need to maximize battery life. With that said, I get 20+ hours running Warfare rom/kernel.

I love darkside rom but wanted to try alAxia theme on juggernaut so using that one now.
How we set up cpu?? please guide me .

I tried synergy kernel with juggs latest and the animations get pretty jittery along with constant homescreen roughness while scrolling. It's not slow, but not smooth. Was wondering what the best ROM/kernel combo is that's buttery smooth with the best battery life.
I'm using adw ex if that makes a difference? Tried with touchwiz and was the same.

Change karnel to darkside , its better than Faux that comes with Jaugg itself. I get like 8 hours heavy useage and its smooth too.

Q: Battery not lasting longer than a few hours when in use.

Ok so I'm running cm7-180 nightlies coupled with tiamat 4.0.7+ no SBC and I've recalibrated my battery to the kernel. When on airplane mode the battery will last hours or even days on end but if I turn off airplane mode the battery drains exceptionally fast. I'm underclocked with min at 128 and max at 768 using the smartass cpu governor. My brightness is at the lowest setting and my 3g isn't enabled. Location features are disabled as well along with background data. Still the battery drains when in even moderate use. There aren't any apps running in the background either. Any ideas why this may be happening?

You might want to check for wake lock I use battery monitor widget for that.
I'm on the same ROM and get great battery using tiamat 3.3.7 or sz 2.2.1 with vipermod under volted -75 .
For wake lag on screen on check off screen on and off animations and set your min cpu to 245 or what ever the second from lowest is and see if that helps.
Edit:I also use sbc kernels I always have since I got my phone a year ago with no problems.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I've used sbc before but didn't bode well with original battery. Ill try that any other suggestions?
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Did you check for wake lock ?
Make sure your phone sleeps when the screen is off.
I also use viperboys vipermod script to under volt the kernel more then it is.
I'll give you a link to older tiamat kernels try out 3.3.7 that one gives me the best battery the newer ones kill my battery.
http://tiamat-dev.com/tiamat_evo/
Edit: if you do have wake lock try different radios out.

You should give undervolting a shot if your kernel supports it. That helps with reducing power consumption while in use, while juice defender helps with reducing power consumption while not in use.

yeah that's rather bad. i would put on average that our phone would last 4+ hours display on screen without the use of JD and other stuff.
I would say voice uses more battery than display on.. but barely... like 1.3 : 1 ratio in use voice : display.
Your android system looks a bit high too. Maybe a fresh wipe and install would help things.

Not true at all. I have in the past have ran @ 1.2GHz w/Some UV and have the same battery life as 1.0GHz w/No UV. And No Lagg either. Just gotta tweak here and there plus depends on kernel I never had issues with the old Samurais

The main reason I'm not using an ICS rom is that the battery life is significantly worse than stock GB. I've read that some people have gotten decent battery life on ICS after lots of tweaks, underclocking, and moded kernels. I haven't had the time to mess around with it so I can;t confirm it, other than to say that neither CM9 or AOKP give me anywhere near the battery life that GB gives me.

Have to agree, although I still prefer AOKP over any TW rom despite the worse battery life. While it is not great on ICS it is acceptable and I have extra OEM batteries along with 1800. I run the stock Alias kernel, don't UV or OC, conservative governor, no tweaks of any kind
My battery life on Cm9 is just fine imo.

That doesn't seem like a "huge" difference, though. It still depends on how you use your phone. I used a lot of gps, had calls, left IM+Pro on in the background for awhile. I also spent a fair bit of the day traveling pretty far so my signal was all over the place.

Note II Benchmark scores

Im just curious to which roms are performing the best so I decided to start this thread. If you can post a screenshot of your benchmark score along with what rom you are running on your galaxy note 2 id just love to see how they compare. Im running jellybomb 10.0.1 with overclock to 1800 just wanna see if theres some tweaks I need to do or if my notes performing like it should lol thanks to the devs for all their hard work.

Your results lead me to believe something is not quite right on my phone lol my results dont look much higher than yours and I think they should be with the overclock and everything, maybe its because I have my phone full of music and big games like gta 3 and max payne that take up a lot of space... kinda new to the whole custom rom thing lol so im not sure

Here's my scores . Got 7000
jelly bombed gnote 2
I'm just curious.. What's is it with benchmark scores? If your phone is running smooth without any lag and snappy shouldn't be any issues?

My phone is fast and snappy, I was just curious about the benchmarks because it gives numbers to compare the phones by. Im very happy with the way mine works but if someone else's is working a lil better and I can see that on a bar graph like with the benchmark it lets me see which roms run better but I love jellybomb so I probably won't switch anyway lol I guess the short answer is just to satisfy my curiosity and just for comparisons sake

Gotcha.. That's understandable.. I was hoping my question didn't see rude lol.. The was the last way I'd hope someone to take it... But I assume better benchmark scores will come about when the kernel for our phones can go past 1.8..which there's a issues with that due to the voltage past 1.8..It's more to it but I haven't followed the issue since 1.8 is good enough for me lol

Note II Jellybombed
Admit what you can't deny and deny what you can't admit
Jellybomb 2, I've tried 4 different roms and they DHL have been pretty fast. I lik jellybomb the best.

I know benchmarks don't mean much but here is my quadrant scores running Team VeNuM - STOCK L900VPALJC - DEODEXED. With Kernel Nov 17 Perseus oc to 1.8 with governor set to performance.
Just want to thank all the devs who helped make our note 2 even better.

Multi Benchmarks
N7100 running AssasinROM V6.0, SaberKernel 25.0, CPU at 1.92GHz, GPU at 800MHz. Running just a bit warmer than usual while benchmarking.
I got this with the Perseus Kernel running on Whompasaurus Rom. I have my CPU overclocked to 1.8 GHz and my GPU to 720 MHz. Runs great, and since the CPU isn't always running full speed, the battery life is great.
This is what I'm getting on stock rooted MC2 with Saber.

Way frequencies are you running at (CPU and GPU) with the Saber kernel and how do they affect the battery life?

Well I've been rooted and overclocked since the day I got this device. Using perseus back then so I don't know how good battery life can really get. With Saber I'm overclocked to 1.92ghz but I am also hotpluging with Pegasusq so that I have all 4 cores running simultaneously together at max cpu. Gpu is maxed out too. I bought 3 extra batteries and a wall charger on amazon so juice is never an issue.

Notice how low the percentage is at idle.

Oh ok. That makes far more sense as to why your quadrant is so high. I'm running Perseus Kernel at 1.8Ghz, but it doesn't always run full throttle.

Yeah if you really wanted it to hotpluging is the way to go and Pegasusq is the best governor for that. Has the most options of them all. I love Perseus kernel and it really is great but I love the extra speed with Saber. It flys! And that's putting it lightly lol!
