Ok so I'm running cm7-180 nightlies coupled with tiamat 4.0.7+ no SBC and I've recalibrated my battery to the kernel. When on airplane mode the battery will last hours or even days on end but if I turn off airplane mode the battery drains exceptionally fast. I'm underclocked with min at 128 and max at 768 using the smartass cpu governor. My brightness is at the lowest setting and my 3g isn't enabled. Location features are disabled as well along with background data. Still the battery drains when in even moderate use. There aren't any apps running in the background either. Any ideas why this may be happening?

You might want to check for wake lock I use battery monitor widget for that.
I'm on the same ROM and get great battery using tiamat 3.3.7 or sz 2.2.1 with vipermod under volted -75 .
For wake lag on screen on check off screen on and off animations and set your min cpu to 245 or what ever the second from lowest is and see if that helps.
Edit:I also use sbc kernels I always have since I got my phone a year ago with no problems.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I've used sbc before but didn't bode well with original battery. Ill try that any other suggestions?
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Did you check for wake lock ?
Make sure your phone sleeps when the screen is off.
I also use viperboys vipermod script to under volt the kernel more then it is.
I'll give you a link to older tiamat kernels try out 3.3.7 that one gives me the best battery the newer ones kill my battery.
http://tiamat-dev.com/tiamat_evo/
Edit: if you do have wake lock try different radios out.

Use the Tiamat kernel. I'm able to get 19hrs at 55% left, without the sbc kernel. Also there are additional undervolting scripts for it.
1. You've told this before. I just switched to it so that should help. I'm a bit uneducated at UV though.

Nice.
Under volting allows the cpu to draw less power, and still operate. The Tiamat kernel is intially undervolted to I believe 950mv. With the additional scripts, you can drop it further. All devices should be able to get away with 25 or 50mv. The 75 and 100 are more aggressive and may not work for you. Best is to backup your rom, flash the 100 and work your way down. If you get bootloops, or you phone shortly freezes after booting, go 1 step down; you're phone can't handle it then. Here's a link to the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1028322

I understand. Monday eh? Flashing away lol. Deck has been the most stable for me but every phone is different. I was getting keyboard lag on deck and I believe it could be the built in overclock. I added setcpu. If it starts to lag autodetect frequency when it does it and it should pick back up. Also try on demand and leave vm heap at 32 to test. Mine last few days hasn't had any lag at all. Running great. I have 40+ apps installed and really run my Evo hard. Its the best phone I have ever owned and really is impressive. Hopefully you can work it out.

I am very unsure how to help at this point. Only real option for u is a full reflash to stock. Test. Then start looking at doing roms. I have owned my Evo since October and have flashed many if not all roms to test since I used unrevoked in November. My phone has been amazing and any little bugs I worked out easily. Hey everyone! Just been tweaking my custom profiles for Tegrak and I came across one of my best profiles so far.
If you find yourself looking for battery life while still maintaining smooth performance go ahead and download my .oc from this link:
http://www.mediafire.com/?wz89mdg7gsgal9a
I found that I could get over 24 hours of battery life (sometimes nearly 40 hours with very light use) after a good calibration and 3 full charges. Just download the file to /sdcard/tegrak/overclock and set it from the profile selector in Tegrak.
I've only tested this profile on Blazer v3.7 with Rogue Stock EL29 but It should help on all ROM's
Sorry I don't have any screens to post, just updated to Blazer v3.8 today and I never took any screens of my last battery performance.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy this profile!

Sorry, the file is mislabled. The profile is 700MHz @ 950mV down to 150MHz @ 800mV. The frequency scaling is 150-700MHz
EDIT: Changed the file name to [email protected]

Wow that's a pretty conservative scale, although the voltages seem reasonable. No sleep of death or slow downs? Either way thanks for sharing your profile. I'll give it a shot on my UnNamed setup.
Edit - Yeah as I suspected it was a bit too conservative for my phone. Screen scrolling was a bit laggy and I got a SOD on my first screen off. Had to do a battery pull to resuscitate.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
I haven't had any sleeps of death yet and ive been running this profile for about a week. There are very few slow dows, the most common slow downs you will see are: large programs will open slightly slower, unzipping files will take slightly longer, moving/copying/pasting files will take slightly longer, and scrolling on loading web pages will be a slight bit laggier (Tested on Opera Mobile only).
Keep this in mind: my home screen is perfectly smooth and I'm running SPB Shell 3D with a live wallpaper. I've tested GPU voltages and frequencies and even the lowest of both will not slow down my launcher performance while using this profile.
If you'd like to know, I did encounter freezes and sleeps of death when I pushed the bottom of the scale down to 150MHz @ 750mV. So I bumped it back up.

SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO SET CPU !!!!
I KNOW WE CAN GET BETTER BY ADJUSTING CPU; BUT HOW WE DO THAT ??!!!
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
I use CPU master free and set at 1350-1512 with on demand profile. But I have Telus 1.5 GHz version not sure the difference. Im running darkside digital warfare and included kernel works pretty good

I find what helps my battery the most is just finding apps that auto activate in background its surprising what does games and social media apps

Two pages and noone has a something to go by I would like to see some conformed info on this as well. I just play with setcpu app. Also the volts how do I play with those? And what are the dangers of messing with the volds?
just wondering if anyone else has noticed overclocking over time and battery life going down and if it's just ICS and I should head back to Ginger or possibly that I need a new batt
Overclock = no more battery life.

Not true at all. I have in the past have ran @ 1.2GHz w/Some UV and have the same battery life as 1.0GHz w/No UV. And No Lagg either. Just gotta tweak here and there plus depends on kernel I never had issues with the old Samurais

Yeah I think I may give old Earthbounds kernel another try and try undervolting or just go with stock and see what works best for me. By the way Marcus I loved your work on gingerbread are you mainly working on MIUI or just a little here and a little there?

The main reason I'm not using an ICS rom is that the battery life is significantly worse than stock GB. I've read that some people have gotten decent battery life on ICS after lots of tweaks, underclocking, and moded kernels. I haven't had the time to mess around with it so I can;t confirm it, other than to say that neither CM9 or AOKP give me anywhere near the battery life that GB gives me.

Have to agree, although I still prefer AOKP over any TW rom despite the worse battery life. While it is not great on ICS it is acceptable and I have extra OEM batteries along with 1800. I run the stock Alias kernel, don't UV or OC, conservative governor, no tweaks of any kind
My battery life on Cm9 is just fine imo.

That doesn't seem like a "huge" difference, though. It still depends on how you use your phone. I used a lot of gps, had calls, left IM+Pro on in the background for awhile. I also spent a fair bit of the day traveling pretty far so my signal was all over the place.

It didn't look like you used the phone for much, let alone anything heavy, so of course you got more hours and more display time.

3 1/2 hours on XDA, wordfeud, texts and a couple of phone calls. The thing is I do the same on any ICS ROM and only get 2 1/2 like Marcus showed.

No, not at all. That's pretty cool. Battery life was the only thing holding me back. What is that on? AOKP and Nyan? Anything special to get that? Always seemed like so much work to get good battery life. I know Kernel 3.x looked real promising as far as battery life.

And nothing else special? No turning data off or audio or anything? I will give it a try this week. Certainly those numbers are better than the other set you posted and damn close to TW. Thanks.
