How to swap your black t989 for a white - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I went in the T-Mobile Store today to do a warranty exchange... they told me they were out of stock with the black ones and had to send me a brand new white... I don't know about over the phone... but that's what happened in the store. So I tried again with my brother's line on the same account and they are sending him a brand new white one as well... Give it a shot!!!!
IF I helped you please hit the thanks button.

You people are too doubtful. You should have just ran to the store and at least try.

Don't worry about that. If the screen they sent you is bad just send it back. Call them and tell them they sent you one with a bad screen so you sending it back and ask them to send you another.
I don't play when I get on the phone with T-Mobile. I am the consumer and the bill payer. They sold me a defective screen. I have a right to have my device working the way it's expected to.

Naa, they sending me a brand new white one. Brand NEW in T-Mobile box and all. I don't know about your store. Make sure you go to a corporately owned store. They can process the handset exchange right there in the store.

This is true coming from a T-Mobile Employee myself with a white GS2. Just note that you are getting refurb unit and only get a new replacement if it is within 14 days. Just make sure to unroot and install the 2.3.6 OTA through ODIN.

Oregon does not have corporate stores. Nearest onebis washington. But my question was . Did they say hey were out of stock at their store and warehouse?

Well the store rep informed me that it would be brand new. So we will have to see. I already got my wife a white one and I don't particularly care for the white. I really like the black one more. So if they send me a refurb white I'll just send it back and tell them to let me know when the black is back in stock. I just want a screen that's not that obvious with the lines and blobs...
Thank you for your input AJ. I will hit the thanks button. It's nice the have a team magenta member on our forum

I just called in because last night after I was testing some skyrocket modems and roms I attempted to revert back to stock and could not get baseband back. I tried some stuff from some of the other threads, but just could not get it to work. They processed it as next day and they are out of black. I am getting a NEW white kit this thursday. Only thing is they said USB cable is not included. While, I didnt want to get the white one this way, at least I am safe from craigslist scams....Thanks OP

Just for proof for you naysayers.

[Q] Repair Cost (Pics Included)!

My apologies to those of you before who were offended by my previous post, I didn't mean to start up such a ruckus.
However, I managed to borrow a friend's camera to show you the damage to my phone, and I was hoping you all might be able to tell me if I can get it repaired and if so how much it would cost.
Before you view them, note that the damage to the screens is internal, the outside of the screen is not damaged, if I run my finger over it there is no crack or anything, it all appears to be on the inner part of the screen.
Thanks!

The red outline I've done in paint shows a crack the runs the length of the screen on the left, as well as in the top right corner of the screen. Any other little blemishes you see that are minor scratches on the surface of the screen and are insignificant, the main focus here is that obvious crack at the top left, and those that run down the left side and the top right corner.
EDIT: I read somewhere on Sprint's site that if it could be repaired inside of a repair store the cost would be $35 is that true?
It's not going to be cheaper than SPP + deductible.

Unfortunately, I do not think that is something that will be covered under the $35. That is if there is a hardware related issue, and you don't have insurance they will swap it for 35 bucks. But since it was your error I am almost positive that they will not cover it. I would buy a new screen online for probable $100+ and repair it myself. Otherwise be ready to shell out $600 for a new phone.

yeesh that's steep. just my 2 cents here: i tried to replace a screen on my old iphone 3g once, and couldn't put it back together. i took it to the apple store, paid $100 for an out of warranty replacement, plus the wasted time and $ on the parts... although i do not consider myself to be a technician by any means, it's harder than advertised.
sorry for the OP that sucks... i'm really happy i have the protection plan... it's only like another 5$ a month.

Yeah, I appreciate the advice but I can definitely not do something like that without screwing something up.
Next time I know to go with the protection plan, do you know if I can get a protection plan on a new phone, like for example if I got this one replaced with a new one (or refurbished? however they do it) would I then be able to add the protection plan on that?

i am not sure, i know when i bought the phone they gave you 30 days to add it; you may get a refurb or something which generally have a different set of warranty guidelines... but i'm new to sprint so i really am just speculating. i just switched from iphone to this phone when it came out and (fortunately) have not had to exercise the warranty.
the best thing you can do to get a straight answer is find some time to go into a sprint store and talk to someone.
I read in one of these forums about how to get the insurance after the fact. It is possible...

Fake Note 2

Hey guys. I want to do a quick comparison and I need your help.
Can someone please take a pic of the back of the phone without the back cover and battery.
Basically show me what's written under the battery. I want to compare it to mine.

The battery surely isn't the right one.
What's under the battery?
It looks kinda a weird. I don't know if it should be in chinese
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Its purchased from an online retailer that claims to ship devices from global markets. The actual battery is the correct one even though the label states otherwise. The phone was shipped with Chinese as its default language.
What concerns me is that it looks like there's something under the label (if you look closely) and that fact that it says 1300mA instead of 3100mA. And shouldn't it mention that its made in Korea like my GS3 does?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Looks legit on : http://www.imei.info/?imei=355251056775893 .
But that font used for "Made by Samsung" is so fake . Maybe the phone it's made from different components and that label is made by the one who assambled it.
But that is not the battery but battery compartment.
Mine says the same. Post booted photos and other ones from settings-about phone

Can't the IMEI number be faked? It looks like there's two labels on top of each other which is quite puzzling.

i have a note 2 which i think is exactly the same as shown on the picture.
whats bothering me was the label on the back of the phone regarding the battery.
i have this phone for more than a month now. since i got i rooted it using exynosabuse and i was able to flash OmegaROM11. also before i rooted my phone it was being recognize by kies and i was able to register it too on samsung website.
where you able to root and flash custom rom with your phone?
i would appreciate your response, i can confirm if our device are legit.

Yeah.. being able to register mu phone on sammy's site convinced me that my phone is legit.
However... whenI check my imei on imei.info, it says that my phone is 32Gb version but its actully the 16Gb version.
Also I saw someone selling a replica of note 2 online. There was a picture of the back showing the imei when i checked it on imei.info the imie exist...

Yes, it's 100% legit, everything works. I only posted a pic because the OP asked for a pic to compare against.
There's another thread where a guy bought a fake Note 2, and it's visually quite different from a Note 2 on closer inspection (ie. bezel size, chrome rings, button wonky, OS version, etc).

Ur note 2 is 100% legit... the 1300mA is ur charger rating not battery....... battery rating is in mAh not in mA.
So all good & Enjoy......
Hey, another noob here, hope I'm not hijacking the thread or anything...
I would normally be able to tell if it's fake through packaging, etc, but this particular cases doen't have any. IMEI matches up, baseband and kernel look legit (and wouldn't it brick the phone if that was loaded onto a fake?)... But I just don't have enough experience in this field to tell. If it's real it's a great deal
Anyway, here's the link :

Any other advice you could give me (stuff to ask the seller, etc?)

I think that's a fake. It claims to be an N7100, yet there are no charging pins for inductive charging, just 2 blanking plates. Also the baseband and build numbers do not look right to me.
There also should be a tiny screw below and between the camera lens and flash LED, but there's none visible on your photo.
Finally, he doesn't have a SIM inserted. I'd ask him to show pics of it inserted and the device connected to a cell. It's not impossible that this is a store demo unit, which can't usually be connected to a network.
However, at least the guy is being honest and saying he's not sure himself it its geniune, therefore selling it as a clone...

Sad day, cracked screen.

Well, sad day today. A golf ball landed on my galaxy s3's screen. Needless to say, golf ball > galaxy s3.
Called customer service to see how much it is to be replaced, and with my insurance, its a big 166$. Ridiculous.
EDIT:
My brother works at a Radio shack, and they'll fix it for like 100$.
Has anyone used Radio shack before to get a screen replacement? If so, how long did it take, and did they do a goob job?
feet taiserva
Purchase the replacement screen on eBay, watch a video on youtube on the screen replacement. It's easier than you think and wouldn't cost much at all. If your opposed to that I would trust them, it's not difficult.

The 100$ is what my brother said, after looking online it actually ends up to being 329$.
I'm thinking I'll let T-Mobile do it... I don't want to risk destroying it myself..
Kind of sucks though, a golf ball dropped and cracked it as bad as it did, it's at the bottom, like right on the home button, but the crack went to nearly the top of the screen.
Did you check eBay?? I would think they were way under $100 for the screen.

Well I checked Amazon, I have Amazon Prime for free for being a student.. and they are around $15-20.
I just don't want to take the chance that i make it worse than it already is... I'm not good at all at doing things like that, I'd rather it be done by someone who knows what they are doing.
Also, they said I could use a phone from the T-Mobile store until mine is replaced, which is pretty cool..
Understandable you don't want to make it worse than it already is. Try looking for places in your local area, there are repair shops that fix phones and video game systems for a fraction of the cost. Some times on Groupon they have Groupons for say $60 for a screen replacement, that's always another option you could check out.

Yea, I will look around.. But I do like that I can take it to T-Mobile, and they will loan me a phone while it's being fixed. I'll have to odin it back to stock though. Oh well.
Thanks for the input!
Can't hurt to check around. Anytime!
Ontop of having Radio Shack doing it...it will void your warranty...to keep your warranty either have T-Mobile or Samsung fix it.

Also, they said I could use a phone from the T-Mobile store until mine is replaced, which is pretty cool..

Well I called the insurance company this morning. They said $150, and that my replacement phone will be here tomorrow.
All is well, atleast it still works so I can use it until the new one comes tomorrow. Glad im getting a new one as well, instead of just getting this one fixed and sent back.
Thanks for feedback guys! :victory:
Well, as new as a refurbished phone can get. Any replacement/warranty phone that congress from tmobile is most likely going to be refurbished. I know because I have one and I'm very nit picky about my phone and always find some small defect with it.

Yeah, I have had that experience as well... Although more often than not, I end up with a busted camera which is more than a *minor* defect...
Asurion sometimes sends out BNIB devices but only if a) they don't have a refurb on hand or b) you've gone through a few refurbs in a short time.
I tried fixing my Nexus One's cracked screen...ROYALLY ****ed it up (just a little too much glue & ripped a ribbon) and ended up wasting $150 even after selling it for parts on eBay.
I would say if you are thinking about doing it yourself and don't have a lot of patience/manual dexterity/proper tools & work environment, don't try.
Also I figure the S3 is probably a lot harder to take apart than my old N1.

Yeah it may come plastic wrap and all but it's a refurbished one. Fixing the one you had at least you knew it was ok and how old it is compare to a used one that may bring a host of issues.

Well got the replacement today, was surprised when i opened it.
It came with the phone, a battery, a back cover, a usb and charger, headphones, a new sims card.
I'm wondering if I need to send back my old battery, or just the old phone?

Broke My Note 2 LCD :(((((

So sadly after having my note 2 for a day, i broke the LCD while trying to replace the outer glass. I was carefully heating and working on the edges to pry the glass of. I guess I got to deep under the outer glass, cause I apparently got under the digitizer(which is under the outer glass), and as I was prying appart, I heard a dreded crack sound. I looked under and saw what I was dreading, the digitizer cable which was connected under the LCD was pulled upwards as I was prying apart, thus making a nice crack in the upper part of the screen.
What sucks is that I am at a crossroads, I loved the size of the phone even only having it for a day, a new LCD is like 150 and I only bought the phone of of Ebay for 265. Now I dont know if I should by the new LCD or just sell whats left of the phone and try to buy a phone with waht ever is left. I am just in a real bad place right now cause I spent way more on that phone than anything, and I am in debt still trying to p ay of the phone. Also I cannot really get a job cause I have a broken hip.
My sad story aside, I just want to let people know that if you try to repace the glass your self dont be a Derp like me and do it without taking apart the phone. without taking apart the phone I wasn't able to see how deep I was going which led to me breaking the fragile LCD underneathe it. Also when they say it is not an easy task, it really is not an easy task. For me it was really easy becasue I was prying the digitizer out as well which is not as glued as the outer glass is to the digitizer. I tried to take apart the digitizer and outer glass afterwards, and boy was it difficult.
Your better off buying a new one off ebay or Craigslist sorry for your lost.

Yes because it is not a warranty issue your paying for this service... At the time I had my phone flashed to another carrier other than sprint and they said nothing... Your not complaining about a tech issue which they would cover under warranty and you wouldn't have to pay for, then they may have a problem with it... But your screen being shattered is not covered under warranty so you have to pay for that service and it's not a discounted price that's what they charge even if your phone is out of the warranty period...
Well thanks guys, right now I am just trying to find some easy jobs to pay for a the new LCD cause buying a new phone is not worth it and I currently do not even have a phone, so sadly to flashing new roms for me for a while

The number is 888 987 4357 your going to pick option 1 then option 1 again then option 2 and option 2 again... Enter in your MEID when customer service gets on the phone they will need that info plus your cellphone number from the carrier you bought it from... If you have had it unlocked or flashed keep that info to yourself... Now this is for Samsung products only so... And if your not using asurion to keep your customization I think you should know Samsung is going to reset everything back to factory it will be like a new phone when you get it back... They have you take out your sd card, battery, the back, and s-pen before you send it in... I had just got insurance through asurion and had to wait thirty days before I could file a claim that's the Only reason I went this route... Best of luck to you...

I got in contact with a guy in the GS3 forums who changes the screens for a small fee. I shattered the screen on my GS3 back in October and almost got him to change it out, but I ended up selling the device as-is and purchased the Note2, would you like for me to look him up? He's probably changed many more screens by now.
Tuscani81 might have a screen in stock. You buy ut and its real simple to insrall

I just posted a new topic about my Assurion replacement. Check it out. Had problems with the first 2 replacements, so Assurion sent me a Note 2 in an unopened box!! Freaking sweet!! Also told me to keep all accessories from the first 2 replacements an just send them the phone itself!! Assurion hooked me up!!! DEFINITELY worth the $200 I paid!!

That's pretty bad.
You know what, I figured out a way to actually buy LCD of Note 2 pretty cheap.
I am posting this so anyone who read this thread will get benefit.
When I started my search to find replacement LCD of Galaxy Note 2 I searched everywhere and the prices were no where less than $140. I am talking about complete assembly like LCD + touch digitizer.
But then I stumbled upon a site and you know what?
They are the direct supplier are they are selling complete assembly for just $103ish something. Here is the link for anyone who is curious to know about the supplier.

Is this one plus for real?!

Hey guys,
I'm about to buy a one plus 3 from a guy which is selling it extremely cheap and I would like to ask you guys, in what ways I could check if the device is real and not just a replica and also if It's not stolen. I will meet with the guy today so I would appreciate everything you tell me test on the device before making the purchase. I already asked him for the picture of the invoice.. now I'm waiting for his reply.
BTW this is the picture he sent me of the device:

when you meet, ask to plug it in to a outlet, if it dashcharges, its real.
or
open bootloader by turning off phone and press volume up+power, it should be named someting ms8996 or something like that.
Whats the price?

I saw you comment and first off I'd like to say its already a chinese branded phone and very modest company, not your usual suspects for making "Phoney." (pun intended) Also I do not own the phone yet, but since you're cautious I'll still help you out.
When I buy phones from untrusted/unknown parties I always meet them in very open public places and look them in the eye when they're talking, looking for signs of anxiety or hesitation.
Now onto the phone itself:
pop the sim tray out make sure there are 2 slots (real oneplus 3 has 2 slots). okay
Go to settings> about phone check the imei with this: https://swappa.com/esn (its free and trusted site)
pop one of my sim cards in and make a phone call. go back to settings> about phone and check the baseband, model number, build number etc. and make sure they are correct/up to date.
go to the camera (usually the stock app) and I test photos and videos.
turn on bluetooth and make sure it searches for my headset which i have on at the time.
Open a web browser and see how fast the app opens and open multiple tabs and different websites in each.
For a phone like this I would feel the quality of the build because most knock-offs just don't feel like "real"
and LAST but not LEAST go to settings> security and check the fingerprint sensor, (how fast it esponds, if it responds at all, nothing is for sure but chances are very slim that a knock-off company is putting a high quality fingerprint system in a knock-off phone. I do all of this while talking to him/her about how the yankees are really sucking this year, and telling them my fantasy football team is better than theirs by a long shot.
I sure hope this helps :fingers-crossed:
Check the Android version. If it says Nougat, then it is obviously a fake one.
Thank you! Isn't there an app that can check if the phone is real? Like all the internals and camera module? I heard there's one with the name similar to AIDA..
Also, could anyone post the latest settings page where I can see the latest build/baseband and so on, please?
Thank you all

If everything works well, it shouldn't be a problem.. it's even seen the original screen protector..

You could easily get 300 euro for OP3 so for me the real question is (and it should be your question as well) Why would the seller throw away 150 euro? Why would anybody do that? Nobody would unless something is wrong.

Looks real. Exactly like mine did whwn I got it. But what's to say that's what you will receive. Especially at half price.
Buy using a reputed site and pay using a known payment method.
That way if you do get cheated will have some way to get your money back.

Yeah it actually does look a little weird. Not the same compared to mine. Mines shorter from top to bottom and longer left to right.

If you can get internet... Download the Geekbench 3 from playstore and run a test and you should get around 2250+ singlecore score and 5400+ multicore score (If you can only download geekbench 4 then score is around 1700 for single and 4000 multicore)
