Mupen64Plus question... - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got the app for my xperia play and it runs very smoothly.
However, the problem I have is the left analog pad that moves the character also activates the c buttons.
So for example: When I play Zelda OOT I will use the left analog pad to move link but if I press it wrong he will take out his slingshot.
I have tried remapping the controls and moving the c buttons to the d-pad but it seems the still exist in the analog pad.
Is there any solution to this?

The newest market version is supposed to fix it I believe, though I think the bug is still being worked on since it's not 100% fixed or something

havent come across the problem on the latest upload from the 24th of december maybe just try replacing all the files work half the time with nearly any problem

Control GTA3 with a keyboard

I don't know if it was mentioned before, but I was messing with the game, and found out, that after connecting an USB keyboard with the OTG cable, you can actually play the game with it, like on PC
Direction buttons work great, you can walk around, with space you jump, hit enter to get in the car, c to change camera, a-s-d-w look around... unfortunately I couldn't find out a way to shoot, and sprint... but cars can be well driven with keyboard even handbrake works
I found in another topic that PC cheats also work, and I can confirm it, as the keyboard was connected, I could type in cheats with it, and they worked
I only tried GUNSGUNSGUNS for all weapons, and it worked, but I think all the cheats work
If someone finds a way to shoot and sprint, please post it
this is a lovely game... good release by rock star games... full on !!! my frnz couldn't believe that i m playing a PC game on my fone hehehehehe... way to go Rock STAR !!! hope to have more such game release from u... GTA IV...
Nice find
I think this might be the right topic so I will ask here.
I've got the game instaled&working on my SE Xperia Pro. As my phone has a built-in keyboard, all the cheats and the game-controls work just fine
The only problem I've got is that I can't change the keyboard controls (for the built-in keyboard, not for the on-screen controls).
Does anyone have a sugestion how to do it?
Try GTA 3 Cheats Unlocker...works great
Link: GTA 3 Cheats Unlocker
CONTROLS
For me, on the physical keyboard
sprint is 1 on the num row
shoot is 2 on the num row
jump is 3 on the num row
4 is to get in the car
6 & 8 is to cycle the weapons
aswd and arrow keys are to move the character on foot & in car
ijkl is to around in first person
c is to change camera mode
enter is to enter the menu in game
when in the menus arrow keys to scroll through and 1 to enter and 2 to go back

Are there games that support the physical keyboard?

Or is it possible to use games with the physical keyboard?
Only one that I know of is the quake 3 port for android.
Here http://code.google.com/p/kwaak3/
The dev would have to include that functionality in their game unfortunately, nothing we can do on this end. But, you can play Playstation Games using the FPse emulator on the market, and that lets you map buttons to the physical keyboard.
There's an app coming out (out already maybe?) for jailbroken iOS that maps bluetooth controller input to touch regions on the screen.
Basically it takes input from the controller and passes it as if someone had touched the appropriate control area.
Not sure if something similar is doable within the Android system.
Trying to find where I saw this recently, will provide a link to clarify as soon as I do.
E: BAM!

Something like that would solve the issue in question.
This would be cool for emulators. Sometimes its hard to play games with onscreen buttons on emulators for me at least.

Personally, I've found that the Desire Z keyboard isn't ideal for playing emulated games. Better than touch screen for sure, but not ideal.
Bluez-ime + a wiimote is my preferred choice.
Replica island supports keyboard too, can be found on market.
Ozzy's Odessey is controllable with the hardware keyboard. I found the game very enjoyable

Thought of developing something similar hundred times, but there were problems (can't remember which exactly.. Nice to know that if it has been done, it's possible to do it!
INC by OrangePixel is also playable using the keyboard
Turbofly 3D is great to play with the keyboard!
Greetings ivifly
You can use your physical keyboard with emulators. I use it for my snes.
Sent from my T-Mobile HTC G2 using xda premium app
Rooted w/ S-OFF
Current ROM : G2Slim 1.6
Radio : 26.13.04.19_M.
So far I've found:
Cordy,
Spectral Souls (configurable layout, I assume Generation of Chaos does that too),
Zenonia 4 (weird layout but playable).
other games too
Games like gta 3 can also be controlled through an external keyboard.
Sonic the Hedgehog 1 uses WASD and some odd key for jump (I forget which) on my Desire Z. Not really tried many other as I'm not really a gamer.
I just wondering in forum and found that topic.
Very nice physical keyboard working on all rogue like games , angband etc.
The best experiance with physical keyboard.
I find that the Desire Z keyboard is rather nice for gaming. It's just that the keyboard layout isn't parallel like normal keyboards so using WASD is pretty difficult.
games using physical keyboard: Andrio's World, Ozzy's Odyssey Trial

What does that have to do with the statement "It's just that the keyboard layout isn't parallel like normal keyboards"?

N64oid Touch Pads w/ Game Keyboard?

I'll get right to the question, is it possible to use the touch pads on N64oid with Game keyboard? And if so, how?
I tried it briefly today and could not get it working.
- Thanks.

I see no reason why one would do this.
1) Mupen 64 already uses the analog sticks mapped to the Xperia Play touch pad.
2) In emulators such as N64oid you have the option to map the Dpad OR the Analog stick to the Xperia Play Dpad.
Now even if you got the mappings to work right you would only have 1 sort of input... the Dpad.
Which then again limits you to only use Dpad or Analog stick with the Xperia Play Dpad.
Or am I missing something here?
Yes I was: support Xperia Play Touchpad in Gingerbread (need root)
PS: Just gave it a shot, I can not get it to work aswell on N64oid.
(Not just the analog stick, it refuses to take any input from the Gamekeyboard app.)
yea it is possible. i had to try A LOT before getting it to work, because n64oid behaves really badly with gamekeyboard... you have to adjust the gamepad without actually seeing the n64 onscreen controls, as you can't put the gamepad onscreen with n64oid. also, to be able to press more than a button at a time, you actually have to map keys with n64oid and NOT with gamekeyboard (mapping the other buttons to stuff like numbers in the app), and only putting touchpads on the analog stick and c-buttons.
I also found out it's better to get the onscreen left touchpad as big as you can, because otherwise you.. won't be able to run. -_- you'd have to tap the exact border of the touchpad.
Edit: if you want I can upload my gkp.
Finally, the c-buttons mapped to the right touchpad.. well I can't get them to work perfectly. Either one of these happens: you'll have "down c" presses while pressing left or right, or you'll always have left/right presses even if you press both left and right.
Maybe it's due to the fact that I set the n64oid control size to "small"; if you set it to medium, maybe it'll be difficult to run using the analog stick because the ratio touchpad size/analog stick size won't be large enough. I haven't tried this yet however.
I personally mapped both the right touchpad and some buttons to the c-buttons.
@Thaevil0ne: mupen64 uses touchpads, but it still is kinda laggy and has many graphical bugs. Gamekeyboard lets you actually use the Play touchpads, so mapping them to the onscreen analog stick, and then hiding it works like mupen, without the lag.
If you want I can upload my profile. But maybe it will better to wait for a good mupen64 release

Yes, please do upload you profile.
Also, the way you use the layout inside N64oid is small and Bottom + bottom?
yes, the controls are set like this.
here is the gkp:

I'm kinda confused here, I'm trying to use the left touchpad for moving and the right for c buttons.
If at all possible.

they are mapped like that. as I wrote though the right touchpad is not always accurate with the touchpads, so I mapped triangle, circle and select to tree of the c-buttons, also.

Ight cool, I'll try tinkering with the C buttons and if I find a better map set up ill post it you cool with that?
I wonder if Mupen64Plus AE will be faster thatn n64oid some day, i've seen that they are beta testing a 2.0 version of it, i hope it runs better on the Play-
Yea, I'm just waiting for a fast version of mupen64.
@Xperia Player: of course you can tinker with the gkp, I'd love to have the right touchpad working 100%. Maybe setting the control size to medium in n64oid could help with that, but that might mess up the analog stick, I mean, it could be difficult to run without touching the very edge of the left touchpad

Yeah I tried that, makes the analog stick almost impossible to use, if game keyboard gave you the option to make the sticks even bigger and smaller it could work... I don't see why N64oid doesn't already have those controls implemented.

just joking, I don't really know why.

[Q] Xperia Play CM10 no touchpad in some games

Hello everybody! In my first thread I already would like to ask if anyone have experienced similar things on Xperia Play. I have SonyCM 10 Final installed, as well as LuPuS_zeus_jBv13-full and after that I found out that some games that should work properly with my touchpad... well, they don't. I got Metal Slug X and 3 installed, Pocket RPG, N64 and SNES emulator, and they work flawlessly with my touchpad. But I installed games like Chaos Rings and Eternal Legacy and they do not recognize the touchpad. Well, those are Xperia Play optimized games, but I read that they had already problems when playing on android 2.3.3+. So is there anybody that experienced same problems? Or is there a fix of some kind?
Also I applied the O button fix, but the 'keypad-zeus.kl' reverse itself to default values (back instead of button B)... WTH?
And btw - is there any update for the things I have 'onboard'? I included screenshot (it's in Polish, but it's pretty clear) of the things I have.
Ask - if I missed something, I'll gladly answer! ^^

I recently got a play.... I couldn't get the touch pad to work at all in cm7 (shame coz im a fan of cm7)
Im now using gin2jellybean ROM and the touch pads work fine on all the games iv tried
I haven't tried Chaos Rings or Eternal Legacy tho
Still nothing... It's kind of sad that there's no workaround or solution for this problem... I can't play many games because when I press Square or Triangle, the X button is virtually pressed as well...

Have you tried using this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1893343
Yeah, and it was a no-go... I'm even thinking of reversing to original android 2.3.4... but is it worth it even? I'd love to have 4.1.2 and play game normally, without lag or multipress issues...

[Q] Real Racing 3 Conrtols

For those who use the touch screen controls for acceleration, braking, and steering, does anyone experience times where gas/brake do not work in the middle of the race? Using a P605 with android 4.3.
Jep, it's a known bug in the touchscreen driver on older 4.3 firmware. Touch input drops after ~23sec if you just hold something in place (exactly what you do when you hit gas in a racing game). Easily testable when holding an icon on the homescreen and wait until it drops.
Good news: It's fixed in newer 4.3 and all 4.4 firmwares. Wait for your updade and you'll be fine
I hope that's the case. I'm aware that there are multitouch issues, and have tried verifying them on my device using multitouch test apps. However, multitouch seems to work properly on those apps, so really, it seems the only app that has this problem on my device is Real Racing 3.
Can you play this with an external game controller? It didn't react to my nyko playpad pro at all
The game does not support an external controller (at least for android; controllers are supported in iOS).
