If it is in warranty time, sure. Contact your dealer.

Few months back, my search button light died. 2 days ago, same thing happened to my menu button. I still have 1 more month before my warranty expired. But... I wouldn't mind. I didn't use my Defy on dark room. No big issue...
But if you required a 'perfect Defy', then sent for warranty is recommended

MDA 3 power button problem

Somebody else posted a while ago but nobody really knewanything and I now have same prob.
If I press the power button the screen will not switch off but If you hold it down the backlight still switches off so it's not the button broken. I thought OK I can live with this for a while but this means you also cant switch it on and the only way is by not locking all buttons when device off but of course it switches on in my pocket and my battery is dead before the end of the day. Also if I press the soft reset button to try and switch the device on, it hard resets it without me pressing the power button in at the same time, which again incredibly annoying!!!
I have tried reflashing ROM but no change, My power button did break off the mainboard a while ago so at first thought it was this problem come back but as others have the same problem and button still turns off backlight Im stumped about whats going on! . Stupidly even though within warrenty I took it to my local phone repair shop for the original button problem instead of T-mobile so my warrenty is now void so they probably won't accept to fix this new prob.
Unless anyone knows of a fix, would T-mobile take and fix If I pay (as I voided warrenty) or would they not even want to touch it because the void sticker is removed. Also would they charge a stupid amount even for the smallest fault?
Cheers, andy
I just brought mine to a t-mobile shop last week because my power buttom broke off the mainboard. My warranty sticker was also broken and they did accept it. Why wouldn't they if you're paying they don't care.
T-mobile don't do repairs, they use HTC, who also do out of warranty repairs.

I would clean off the warranty sticker completley including all the bits in the screw head and deny all knowledge if asked ;-)

Today I got a phonecall that they had replaced my phone with a new one. I told them that is wasn't a warrenty repair... they did make a mistake, but I still get the new phone for free... This solves my problems...
hi it was me that posted before, i never found a solution to this. i spoke to htc but they seemed confused as well. luckily mine is still under warranty so its going back. im going to drop mine into them in milton keynes so i will see if i can quiz them on it more.
WOW its fixed.
dont know whether anyone still needs info on this BUT mine is fixed, i told it that i was gonna take it to htc in milton keynes tomorrow and it fixed itself. well sort of. i will just write what i did when it star ed working. i tried everything to fix this. if you read the top post i think that is a copy of my original post. i was using my blueangel tonight to browse this site in bed using wifi. normally i dont really use this but my exec is charging. anyway i had tried turning wifi on and off before and the problem was still there. now after prolonged use the power button is working. i think it must be the wifi. i suspected this from the start. other than that the only other thing i have done is rotate the display but i think its the wifi. you know when you put them in standby when wifi is on there is a delay in turning off while it disconnects. mine froze then and after that the button was not working this is why i suspected it had something to do with this from the start.

Directional key stopped working - repair?

The down direction on my four way "thumb pad" on my PDA2k has stopped working. Is this repairable by a mechnically capable/inclined individual? If not is there anywhere else to get a repair other than i-mate? I am just past on year so I must be out of the warranty period.
This has happened on my XDA2s too. Had it about 5 months. It works like 30% of the time. Lord this device is poor.
yep my IIs has the same problem too. the down key is malfunctioning, I have to press extra hard to get it to work, problem is my warranty is in the Philippines and Im Now in OZ..
You might try contacting Pocket PC Techs; they're just up the road from you in Fountain Valley.
fake your purchase date and contact imate, they fixed mine, and iw as just over a year too. I had the exact same problem as you.

Probably a loose connection to the LCD panel, i'd return it if i were you
or could be the slider hinge flex is busted.. be very careful when sliding the device.. mine's busted too and I haven't used if for more than a month already, parts from the UK will arrive this week, so hopefully it will be up and running in no time..
Thanks for all the help going to send it back tomorrow..

Sounds like it could be a good way to go (to return it and ask for a replacement or to send it to a service centre). Receipt = warranty. Don't forget to bring it.
Before doing this you can try to update or repair the software just to confirm this is not SW related. In PC Companion you can do both.

HOX screen problem and repair

This is a couple of pic from my HOX that is faulty....i know theres afew people here that having the same screen problem as me and maybe not....the screen is glitching and sometimes blank but touchscreen still responsive....cause my warranty is void and i cant have a replacement, i want to make a repair at any phone shop that can repair it or if im brave enough, i do it myself...the cost in HTC center is expensive...what i want to know is, is the problem here is from the LCD display only and not on any other hardware...cause there is a LCD display with Digitizer that sell is cheaper than HTC center...and original..if i replace it, can the problem be solve...is it can be done...tq
At a guess I would say it's an issue with the memory holding the framebuffer, but it could be a problem with the bus connecting it to the screen.
Hard to say if a screen replacement would fix it.
If a stock ROM doesn't fix it, it's a hardware fault. That's usually covered under consumer protection laws. HTC are not obliged to uphold (or even provide) a warranty, but the retailer is obliged to honour your statutory rights.
Where did you purchase it?

Sounds serious....i have flash everything to stock using the right RUU and relocked the bootloader...when sending it to repair, they claim that i have rooted the device and warranty is void...when i said the cost of repair, they said its about RM500( around 150 USD )..and this is a lot...
I purchased my HOX in my country MALAYSIA, in 2nd hand market...the problem occur about a month of using....i received in perfect condition and LOCKED bootloader...
i hope this help, cause i really wanna get my HOX fix....
even i have the same problem.......it began shortly after the JB update...........i bought my phone from mobile store......but the warranty is given by HTC and i am afraid i also have voided my warranty by opening it and unlocking the bootloader...what to do ??
What i want to know is what causing this problem..if its like what BenPope said....is there a way to fix it....manually and cheaply.....
I have restored my stock backup and relocked the bootloader after that I did a hard reset.....after that no screen problem till now.....try it

I don't know what your hox problem but I know it is hardware faulty cuz I read a thread in XDA bout the same problem like yours but the solution is send to HTC and get replacement with new unit. So that won't help you I believe as you void your warranty.
You could try searching in lowyat forum and look for shop that provide repairs for HOX. If you live in KL, there is one shop around pandan indah that could replace your lcd+digitizer for below rm200 i think.

Damn, that's bad...I was hoping its not...bad luck for me then...so I think repairing the motherboard only can be done in HTC center only...not other phone shops...how much can you think it will cost...
I have found out something....whenever the screen go wanky, when I flex the phone, the phone sometimes respond differently...sometimes ok sometimes make it worst...is this screen or motherboard problem I wonder....

Same problem here..brief history of my One X
1. Phone is rooted, installed AOSP 4.2.2
2. I broke the screen last February and had it replaced (the center said its genuine HTC screen which they ordered from their contact from HTC, I've no way to check though but the quality is as good as the old one so no complaints there)
3. About a month ago, screen wont diplay when I unlock/wake..its just black but it can receive messages, play music etc..I can even answer calls (blind swipe of the screen to answer)
4. I gave up, and bought a new phone as I dont want to spend another S$200 bucks or so to repair it (initial screen replacement cost me S$240).But, out of curiosity, I booted it up last month (charged it to retrieve some pictures) and the display showed. The next morning, again it wont turn off.. As I have it encased in an otterbox commuter, I decided, WTH just do drop tests see if the otterbox was really able to protect.
After a few drops, I decided to wake the screen..And yes again it worked LOL
Now this on and off thing happens a lot..sometimes I'm able to wake it sometimes not (after a long period of the display being off)..
Just now, it wont turn on again, and again I dropped it face down (for the lulz) and the screen turned on again
here it is now, charging
One thing i noticed though, the screen would corrupt and lock up (sometimes) when I rotate screen to landscape
PS. damn this HTC One ultrapixel camera sucks

Home button stopped working...

I walked in the rain very briefly and have an Otterbox on it... What is the best way to determine that it is a hardware problem and what are my options? (I have the phone for nearly a year, I doubt warranty applies).
I am get pretty tired of using software home button. Note - button doesn't work in recovery mode either.

The warranty is for a year. If the Knox bit Is tripped it's said warranty is voided. I've seen many members who have had Hardware issues repaired even with it tripped after flashing back to unrooted stock. Call samsung support... Don't mention you are rooted if that's the case.
