Having a problem with my Dinc screen. The screen colors will suddenly change and look like some retro camera view. At first I noticed it when my batter got low the other day. Now, it's been doing it at random, everyday, no matter the battery life.
Today, it did it and I pushed down on the battery or back of the phone and it stopped. I released the back, and it went back. So I'm thinking its a connectivity issue with the batter and the 4 prongs in the back... if that makes any sense.
I've checked all the connections and there's nothing broken or corroded.
Has anyone had a similar problem or have any recommendations?
I would like to replace it but am waiting for the GNex. Was thinking I could get Verizon to send me a replacement, then get the GNex when it comes out and sell the replacement.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. - Tried to post a screen shot of the regular screen and the messed up screen colors, but the screen shot is normal, even thought what I'm seeing is 'psychedelic' colors.
The girl next to me has a phone that is doing it... Same identical symptoms right to the squeezing the battery part. Ill look into it and see if they'll send some replacements

I just bought my phone 4 days ago, and I'm having issues with the screen responsiveness. It just freezes up at times, sometimes it thinks one finger is touching it and does the whole zoom in/out thing when I touch it, randomly issues commands, touch buttons at the bottom don't respond, and only way it works for a lil again is to touch the power button to turn the screen off and back on. I have a link attached which shows the main problem area is when a lil pressure is put near the bottom, everything starts getting glitchy. It does this with all 3 ROMs I've used, which is another thing, I have to un root it so I can bring it to the sprint store. Since it's a brand new phone, and only 4 days old so far, do you think they will just replace it with another new model, or a refurb? I'd be extremely mad if it's a refurb since it's still in the 30 days. They also added TEP to my plan which I havent taken off yet. But since this is a hardware issue..

The video doesn't even begin to show all the problems, but that's one I can replicate pretty well by holding it at the bottom.
Sometimes you get a bad phone HTC isn't perfect since you are within 30 sprint will switch it for a new one no charge.
Just go get a replacement
like others have said get a replacement simple and easy

Eh, I'm on my third replacement, and gettng the last wasn't exactly "simple and easy ". Oh, and guess what needs to get replaced again due to another faulty display (interestingly this is the first phone I'm returning for the display... unless you count screen separation)?
Order a replacement, and when you get it, don't walk out of the store until you're sure the phone is working as it should.
Make sure they are not going to place an upgrade 20.00 fee on your bill.I had a bad screen as far as lifting up out of the frame from the bottom and light leaking out. When I went online a few days later to view my bill there was a upgrade fee and I had to call them but it was painless just had to give up about 5 minutes to get it done.
Just FYI
I'm really hoping when I go in tomorrow, they can return my phone and get a NEW one on the spot. I dont want them telling me they have to order it, etc, because I know they have a lot in stock. Do I just tell them I want a replacement because my screen is messing up when touching the rim of the screen? I really hope I dont get hassled. The phone is back to stock, S-ON, fully unrooted.
This video shows the issue even more. It's so bad today, I can barely use the phone

I got my replacement today, brand new, hardware 0004. My first one was 0003. I am slightly disappointed because I can tell I have the "bad" screen version. It has a much more yellow tint to it than my first one. My rebate is also going to be declined now unfortunately, and it's going to be a hassle I can already tell.
Edit: I thought I have the worse screen, but it looks a lot better than the youtube comparison video I have seen. It also fades the different brightness settings rather than a solid quick change using power control. It still is a tad more yellow I think. I hope I can root this one just as easy as my last one.
Last night I was out and during the night I pulled my desire z out of my pocket to find that the screen was dead, the soft touch buttons were still lit up and working but no display. I pulled the battery and tried to reboot and no luck, you can hear it booting and even unlock/receive calls and txts etc once it has booted up just the screen stays blank the whole time so have to do everything on feel.
Essentially does this just mean my screen has a hardware fault? is it worth trying to fix? I assume the only option would be to purchase a replacement screen and dissemble and reassemble it?
(warranty is not worth it as I live in New Zealand and would have to send my phone back to the UK where I bought it from, also I have dropped it quite a few times so probably voided anyway...)
Thanks in advance for any input
Does it never display anything? So not even a flash during boot or something?
Because then it is probably a hardware problem.
Since the soft touch buttons do still work I think there might be a little crack or something in the flat cable that connects the bottom half with the top.
Maybe you could check whether you can see if the cable is broken or not?
The best thing to do then is to look for a replacement and try to fix it yourself or bring it to a shop where they can do it for you.
No it never displays anything, completely dead the whole time. The touch input is still working though as I answered a phone call this morning on it by making the usual gesture just without being able to see anything. Doesnt seem to be anything wrong with the cable itself as far as I can see. Yea might have to get someone to have a look at it.
My phone is acting the same. I dropped my phone in the pond before, but pulled battery out on time and had it in rice for a day. My phone was still working for about two weeks after that incident. I dropped it and had one little crack at the top of the screen and about a week after that it died when I had a water balloon fight with the phone in my pocket. D;
Do any of you know if the replacement lcd screen/digitizer for the Desire Z would work for the G2?
I had the same thing happening to my G2 screen, only it was intermittently working for a little while, then just completely died and wouldn't work. It was doing this crazy flickering thing then the back light wouldn't go on at all. If I held the phone at a certain angle in the sun, I could see that the pixels were indeed working on the display, but there was no backlight to make them normally visible.
So I purchased a replacement screen from ebay and carefully followed the directions on a youtube video for a G2 take apart. Its not a hard task to take apart and get down to the screen itself. It was rather easy. After putting it back together the screen still didn't work! Sounds work, i can also receive calls etc. But the screen still doesn't work!
Is there any way that this could be a software issue?
Oh and PS, I believe the LCD replacement would work for both the desire Z and the G2. They are identical phones after all right? I'd say its a safe bet. The screen I bought was only 35 bucks. Didn't think that was a bad deal.
Another dead screen or something else?
Few days ago my phone fell of the couch onto a rug - no big deal, so far it has survived much worse, but when I picked it up, the colors were all messed up - overly green and red. Tried restarting - no luck. Everything worked fine, except the colors, but then the screen turned of completely. I could hear notifications, phonecalls, but the screen was dead. After some tapping on the screen, it turned on again - with ****ed up colors. Then started flickering and was gone again. Few more times I could turn it on by tapping before it was dead for good.
Figured, after all these drops it survived, maybe the screen connector is a bit loose. I mean, I could sometime get a contact when tapping it, so I dissasambled it completely, secured all the connection, put it all back tougether and fired up - same thing: dead screen, phone working.
Has anyone had such problem before? Is it screen that is dead, or connector or... I have no clue... I would like try to fix it on my own, with some replacement parts I could get on ebay - but, what gave?
Hey guys, I've got a pesky issue hopefully someone can shed some light on this. A couple weeks ago I noticed the screen on my GS3 (Running Wicked X 8.0) started to flicker little black horizontal lines across the screen. Sometimes you can barely see it other times (especially when the brightness is up all the way) its ridiculously bad. It does it worse in some apps more than others. Like right now i have the brightness at 100% on chrome and its hardly noticeable. But if I go to Facebook its BAD. Once the screen loads all the stuff it goes away somewhat. I had ordered a new OEM front screen and digitizer replacement before this so I wasn't to worried. Figured it was my screens last hoorah before going out. After swapping out screens I powered on my phone and its still doing it. I put my girlfriends sisters motherboard into my old screen and it wasn't doing it. Put it in my new one and still not doing it. I've tried factory resetting it. Turning off HW Overlay anything and everything I've seen I've tried. Even when playing games it doesn't do it. Its very very faint. Idk what the deal is. Please someone help me out. Greatly appreciate it.
Normally I would say ODIN back to Stock. Then see if the issue persists. But in this case since you have already opened the device it may not help as much to troubleshot the device. Still I would ODIN back to Stock to see if it helps.
The battery on my HTC 10 was completely shot and needed to be replaced. I'm a careful person by nature and this being my first phone repair, I bought an extra screen just in case something happened getting it apart. Followed a guide by jerryrigeverything on how to take apart the phone, got the battery replaced, everything seemed to go smoothly. When I went to test the display before screwing everything together, the new screen I installed lit up, but the right half of the display only showed as a repeating segment from the middle of the screen. Thinking the connector was loose, I disconnected and reconnected the display and made sure everything was tight: same problem. I reinstalled the original display, which I made sure had worked after cutting through the adhesive before I disconnected it, and now the old display is also showing the same issue.
The touch screen on the broken side of the display still works, I'm able to type PIN numbers and whatnot even though I can't see them properly. Only thing I can think of is maybe the connection actually got some debris or something inside of it? I don't think I damaged anything, as I was super careful, but it was also my first time opening up a phone.
Sorry for the inefficiently worded post. Any help would be really appreciated.
Did you resolve this?
I have exactly the same issue you describe after my screen replacement (with two new screens) Believing the first was a dud.
I have done many screens/batteries on my m7, m8's previously never having a problem.
I'm currently back to running my M8 and miss my 10!
Anyone reading this and has any suggestions they are all welcome!!
Thank you in advance
Exactly the same issue this guy has

I'm now wondering if it is just bad aftermarket screens?
Has anyone else replaced their screen successfully, if so where did you get the screen?
Thanks Rory
I have been having the same problem. I just tested screen number 4 that has the same exact problem. Is there a specific brand that is known to test well?
I dropped my 10 in water at work...believe it was a salty water at that. It stopped working completely. I opened the phone to check the internal components for damage and I broke the LCD doing so. I replaced the battery and the screen at almost the same time. I think it may have been a week or two apart.
The battery is still working. The screen worked initially but the phone kept getting really hot and the heat kills the phone. I tried keeping it cool at all times which kept it operational. It hasn't been activated since I quickly replaced the phone with another of my lines upgrades. I went back to the phone to check it out and try using it as a replacement for my daughter but the screen no longer works.
The battery charges just fine...the led light indicates that well. I've tried reinstalling it several times with no success getting the screen working again. I tried the original screen to check and I could see light and it was responding but its not usable so I'm stuck with a phone that has a new non-working display. I think the brand was called DIYRepair or similar.
If anyone has encountered this and has advice...I'd be happy to try anything.
This problem just started today, I've done nothing with settings, have not installed any apps recently, did not drop it, expose it to water, or anything that could possibly cause damage. What's happening is that basically about 1 inch-1 inch 1/8 of the bottom of the screen turns black, and at almost random, sometimes it could go a minute and half or so, sometimes 30 seconds, sometimes within 5 or less seconds. The strangest part? The part that goes black still operates fine to touch, so if an icon or letter of the keyboard, or whatever, is located in that area, it can still be selected/operates. Taking a screenshot to try to show it is worthless since it'll show the screen as just fine, so I attached a picture and a video of the problem from an old phone of mine. The blacked out are will go right back to normal if you turn the screen off, wait a second, and turn it back on. Also, if the blacked out area is there, it'll go away after about a half a second when the screen dims right before the screen inactivity turns the screen off. I've only had this phone for a couple months, I got it back on December 7th 2019.
I learned something else. If I manually lower the brightness to a particularly low level, the black goes away, so it seems to in some strange way be related to the phones brightness level (I use auto brightness), this also might explain why the black comes at differing intervals, as my brightness is adjusting constantly to my surroundings, the time before it comes is either shortened or lengthend based on the brightness.
It doesn't seem that strange that the touch still works in that area as the digitiser and the display are two different things. I would factory reset (because Samsung will make you do this anyway) and if still an issue, take it directly to Samsung, that does not look good.

I was just thinking I might have to do factory reset, if that doesn't work, and it needs repair/replacement, do I go to an authorized Samsung repair place (I know I have one within about a couple miles of my house), it's
obviously well within warranty, or take it to At&t store as I do have that AT&T Protect Advantage coverage for my phone?

Did the factory reset, turned out to be a waste of time. That black bar was showing immediately, right at the setup screen. So I guess it's safe to say that it's a hardware issue, defective whatever. Funny story is that when I bought this phone, my att store only had two of them left, one was immediately defective, it wouldnt get past the main logo screen, and now I got this one and it became defective within just a couple months, got to love it.

Just left AT&T store where I initially purchased the phone. They're shipping out a brand new note 10+ to me today and I'll get it tomorrow ?
Glad to hear! That definitely sounded like faulty hardware. Funny you saw two failures, I guess it will happen with such complex devices.
Note 10 plus screen goes black
Hi i thought i was crazy until i saw your thread. The same thing is happening to me but it does not go continuously so id see two red squares first theyre really small and they appear anywhere on the screen then if try to screenshot them they show upblack in the screenshots instead of red . I just need to know if anyone found a solution yet because my phone came with the warranty booklet but it wasnt filled out.

You just need the proof of purchase, or, if you got it on contract, the contract itself will suffice
