So I was in Paris a few days ago and walked into an Orange store.. I asked one of the salesmen when they were expecting the Galaxy Nexus, he laughed at me and said "that device is over a year old, we don't have it anymore!". When I told him that I wasn't talking about the Nexus S but about the new Galaxy Nexus, he looked at me with a puzzled face and told me that he never heard of it and that that device probably doesn't exist!
I asked around in a few other stores as well and they all gave me the same answer.. I speak fluent French so no getting lost in translation here. Sad to see people working in the mobile industry who have no clue about one of the most anticipated smartphones to hit the market.

It’s really shocking that we (read: the population) relies on these “experts” to advise. Yet a high number don’t even know where the entrance to their shop is; let alone what is on the market and round the corner.

In France, Orange choose to not sell the Galaxy Nexus.
SFR will do but only around mid-december,besides i heard they have 3 weeks of exclusivity.
Will Virgin Mobile France get it?
Fluent (native) French too and I had the exact same experience last week even at an SFR store! They just don't know anything about their new products coming in until they actually get them.
I was wondering if anyone knows if Virgin Mobile France is going to get it after SFR exclusivity? (Of course Virgin France is unable to answer my question)...
From bad to worse..
SO I'm back in Dubai now, I decided to call Samsung UAE to see if they knew anything about the release date (all phones here are sim-free, we do not have provider phones or contracts).
So I call 800-SAMSUNG and ask about the Galaxy Nexus, the Samsung Rep DID NOT KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT (again asked me if I meant Nexus One or Nexus S)!!! He had to go to the website and see that the phone was indeed listed, I tried to ask him about some specs but had to stop when I realized I was torturing the guy.
It's bad enough for a cellular service provider to not know about the phone, but when Samsung employees don't even know about the existence of one of their most anticipated products, it makes me want to slam my head against the wall!
welcome to the world of STUPIDITY

Heh.. I thought it was confusing enough trying to get around Madrid, but Paris... I got lost everyday and had to keep getting help.
It's really a pity to see this from professionals... they should have sommes regular formations and have a look to the xda forum

I went to several stores these last days, trying to get a Galaxy Nexus... To no avail!
I first went to Orange and SFR stores; nobody was aware of the Galaxy Nexus. The salesman at SFR even refused to believe that a device with android 4 was already out and working: "you must be mistaking, android 4 is not to be expected before late 2012 at best".
It was no way better at Orange where this phone was also unheard of.
I won't purchase a contract with Bouygues because their network lags far behind both Orange and SFR, so I didn't bother giving this carrier a try.
I also went to The Phone House (Carphone warehouse stores are so called in France) and was provided, if not with the phone, at least with some information. SFR has historically been the first carrier to provide Google's handsets, so the Galaxy Nexus should be available soon. On the salesman's computer, the phone was already listed and priced (9 to 149 € depending on the contract, much more of course for the handset sold alone) but not made available yet. He was unable to give me a precise release date, hopefully before the end of the year.
I'm in Amsterdam for work for the time being, and the Galaxy Nexus is EVERYWHERE here. Hard to believe they don't have it in Paris which is just 3 hours away... Anyways... catch a train and come get one
I'm waiting to get back to Texas in a week or two to buy mine
Yep! Thalys POWER!
The Galaxy Nexus is listed on SFR website, but there is no way to get it at their stores. that's a shame...
I think they just don't bother with phones that are not readily available.
I may end up ordering it online, but that's a shame!
I actually ended up ordering it online from expansys.ae, which is just a front for the UK Expansys site. However they shipped my phone from their warehouse in France (in Montpelier I think), so luckily I speak french and was able to call them to get info on my shipment.
It's always the same with SFR : they deal exclusive contracts with manufacturers (all the Palm Pre range, Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, etc...) preventing those with a contract with another carrier to purchase these handsets but they never have them available in their shops =(
I had similar experience in one of the Carphone Warehouse stores in UK - the guy didn't know about GN. O2 and Phone4U shops had the phone in stock, but refused to show it to me - saying that they are not allowed to display it yet. I didn't even bother with Orange or Vodafone. So in the end, I walked into 3 store, where they had GN on display and sales person actually knew the prone quite well, so this is where I bought mine.

Same here. Three seem to be the only place taking this phone seriously and giving it a proper launch and publicity. The salesman knew all about the GN and it's all over Three's website, twitter and Facebook. I'm impressed with both the; phone and network. I got mine from them three days after release.

I got it!
I went back to the SFR store in forum des halles yesterday, and to my surprise, the galaxy nexus was available.
This store is located in one of the busiest shopping mall in Paris, and they are arguably amongst the biggest SFR stores in France. There is a large variety of devices on display, including the "old" Nexus S, but no advertising about the Galaxy Nexus. I had to ask the saleswoman and she had to check whether the GN was in stock.
They sell the GN reluctantly... Is it because there is no SIM locking on google phones, maybe so...
Awesome, thanks for the update missmayhem! Did you have a choice of plans, or did they force you to sign up for the 99,90€ ($136) monthly Carré ABSOLU plan? I read about that in this article: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Galaxy-Nexus-Incredibly-Cheap-at-SFR-Priced-at-9-90-13-5-233504.shtml
If possible I would prefer to pay a little more for the Galaxy Nexus up front and have a lower monthly plan cost!!

I actually took up the Carré absolu contract because I needed an unlimited plan, but as far as I understood, the galaxy nexus is also available with a wide range of plans (at higher rates of course)
I pay 109 € a month, with a 12 months commitment... that may sound pretty damn expensive, but bear in mind that it's an all-inclusive plan.
Orange??
I had heard that SFR only had exclusivity on Galaxy Nexus for a very short period... anyone hear anything about when it should come out with Orange? Would love to get it on Orange, but may not be able to wait more than a week longer at the most! Crossing my fingers...
It is not only in France that this is happening, while I was hunting for it on several electronics shops I got all kind of stupid answers, from 'this doesn't exist', to 'you must be confusing it with the Galaxy S or the Nexus S'. But the most amazing answer I got was: 'if there was a new Nexus I would know about it'

Orange UK seem to be doing what they are best at.
Every time I speak to someone from Orange (once a week for the last 6 weeks) to find out if the Touch Pro 2 has been released I get a different answer.
Back on the 26th May I spoke to someone who had a look and said that the phone was still on the "coming soon" list. He had a look else where and found that the phone was listed to be first released as a SBC (Small Business Customer) phone and then a little later for none business users. He had no date but said it should be early to mid June.
Yesterday I was told there is still no date, but it should be released mid to late June. The guy at orange started to explain how to go about through a 3rd party to get the upgrade but then I lost my signal. I rang back and was then told that the phone would definatly not be out with in the next 4 weeks.
Today I rang up and was told that there is no date listed, but the phone is still just "coming soon". I said about the person from yesturday, but the lady has no idea why I was told a definate no for the next 4 weeks as it could come out tomorrow, 2 weeks, 4 weeks or not at all. I also asked about the phone first being available to business customers and was told that there is no mention about the phone being a business phone and the release would be wide spread across the whole of orange UK. The lady has also put me on a ring back service, will check daily to see if the phone had been released and let me know if it has... While I have no reason to dis-believe this, I dont hold much hope.
I have rang around, but cant find a phone dealer that can do an upgrade for me with the Touch Pro 2
Little to say, I am getting a bit tired of all the different answers I get.
When I got my Tytn 2 from orange it was only listed as a business phone and I think the Touch Pro 2 will probably be the same way
Does any one here have any more information or shed any light on the release of the phone as an orange branded handset, be it for business or none business use.
Firstly I'll say that their ring-back service worked for me. This was back when the TyTN2 was released. They sent me a text on the day it became available telling me to call them, which I did instantly. The next day I had the phone in my hands. So have some faith.
However, the wait may be long, or short.
I used to be on Orange (having been a VERY loyal, high spending customer) for many years, but I have since become very cheesed off with their outdated tariffs and delays bringing phones to the market.
I have now switched to Vodafone, and while I don't get anywhere near as good signal strength, they provide a decent enough service for me.
I am sad I had to move away from orange, but it's too little too late.
See, I like Orange's service and the service plan I am on is very good value for money and they consider me somewhat of a 'loyal customer'.
I am in exactly the same boat as you, I've been speaking to different people and it's gone from 'within 2 weeks' (this was mid may I was told this) to the phone not being listed on the system, to the Diamond2 being released?
It seems the HD is out of stock and I had been told that it was being discontinued and replaced by another handset. Some reps have told me that it was Touch Pro2 and some have told me they do not know.
I've just been emailing Orange (they have this irritating habit where you hit the reply button and a different person replies) all of them told me it was only going to be released on Business, but like another person in this thread I also have a TyTn II on a personal account.
This morning the Touch HD was taken off the website! So I'm going to keep playing it from the angle of 'What phone is going to replace the HD on the personal account' and 'I want a Windows Mobile phone with a keyboard because I can't stand purely touch screen phones!
I really really want to keep my contract and just get an Orange branded Pro2
Just spoke to them on the phone about the HD disappearing off the website. Apparently they're looking at replacing it with the Touch Diamond2 and when I said does that have a keyboard? He said no it doesn't but the Touch Pro2 does (in a hesistant voice).
I went on to ask whether that would be available for me to upgrade to as a personal user and he said yes it should be, but there is no indication of price yet as it's too early on.
I'm sure the next person I speak too, will tell me otherwise...
The Orange tariffs seem to suit me quite well... There might be a better tariff for me somewhere, but at the moment my monthly bill only usually differs pennies each month and i can really hammer the phone some months.
When I asked about the upgrade price about a month I go I was told that I would probably get the phone for free being that I am a long time loyal high value none business customer (have been on one of the top tariffs now for 6 or 7 years).
Infact when I got the tytn2 (which was only available for business customers at the time), Orange actually credited my account with £100 for me to stay and take the the phone off their hands.
I guess only time will tell with the rhodium
I just wish that Orange would be a bit quicker at releasing new phones.
Out of interest, I wonder if Orange list the rhodium as having an inbuilt GPS receiver. Orange seem to insist that the rhodium does not have a GPS, although it does have an FM radio :S Come to think about it, they also insisted that the tytn2 didnt have a GPS either when I upgraded to that
I got another response today from someone that seemed a bit more human.
Hello
Thank you for your email into the Orange shop.
I have checked the website and we have 2 HTC phones on sale.
We have the HTC Touch 3G and the HTC Touch Diamond(tm)
http://shop.orange.co.uk/mobile-phones/all
We also have the HTC Touch Pro 2 in review at the moment. Fingers crossed
this one will make the cut as it's a brilliant phone.

I'm reckoning I might get it for free, although I haven't been as long term as you with Orange, I just want them to list it as coming soon! It's driving me mad, I can be so impatient with stuff like this sometimes haha.
For orange France it's not planned yet...
I wait because I want to by it with mobile contract at less price than unbranded...

Yup +1 that.... Orange are in danger of loosing out if they wait much longer- Hmm Xperia X2 anyone?
I've had our company phones with Orange for over 10 years, but have just switched to Vodafone. We save around £500 per month (20 Touch Pro and Pro 2 all free), have all data included in the plan plus managed services with antivirus, firewall etc and the cuistomer service people I speak with are much more responsive than Orange. No problems with connectivity. The choice of handset and talk / data plans is far better than Orange and in the 3 months we've been with Vodafone I have experienced no probs whatsoever.

See, I've been provided a fabulous service with Orange. My price plan is very cheap and I get a lot for my money. I'm on the £8 a month internet bundle which apparently is limited to 500mb or whatever but I usually use over a gig a month and never get charged.
I'm going to wait it out, I just up hope some new information crops up in the next week. They'd be able to release it if Orange didn't bog down the phone with so much crap!

Not helpful sorry, but if its any consolation, I am getting the same run around from o2. Least with Orange, they have to keep releasing the 'business' class devices. o2 (I think) are going to limit the new devices to push people towards the iphone (sorry for swearing) or blackberry. Neither of which I personally want.
I just spoke with Orange business Sales
They say it should be available to first for Business Sales than Upgrades,
It will be available after the end of the 19th of July

Was that meant to say 'then' rather than 'than'? I'm really hoping that you mean will be available for new contracts after the 19th of July as apposed to starting the release then...
Orange have updated their coming soon page on the consumer site.... no sign of TP2 yet
However I've been diligently checking the page for the past few months (I know, i know...) and updates seem to take place around 14-16th of each month.
Hoping that this darn phone turns up soon.

Haha, I've been doing this too. I may as well have it as my homepage.. They have definitely updated the Coming Soon list at least twice this month (including today) so I don't think your theory is entirely true.
Come on Orange! My contract expires this week!
Just spoken with Orange and the phone is currently in testing and it there will only be limited number handset to start off with for Business Account holders .
Imagine Orange are fecking up software as we speak

They're releasing the iPhone 3Gs? I didn't know O2 weren't keeping it exclusively anymore.
Orange updated their coming soon list! No TP2 though
Just got off the phone with Orange.
Apparently it's 'limited stock' at the moment and that the update on their server today said that they were in testing mode. If it pasts tests then it will be given to business customers in limited stock, then if it is popular they'll release it to personal customers.
What was interesting, was that he said if an Orange shop stocks the phone, they might be a to give to you on a personal contract as 'they have more leeway than the telesales'.
Sigh, the wait carries on...
ORANGE now sell the TP2

What's with O2... they haven't confirmed anything about any new XDA phones....especially and XDA in the form of HTC Touch Pro 2 :-(
There is an interesting thread on the O2 forums where O2 claim that the Touch Pro2 is too similar to the iphone and will not be releasing it on the O2 network.
Any confirm or deny this please?
The link to the O2 forum thread on this subject is here:

I have an old HTC Tytn from Vodafone UK, i left them last month, a day before they announced HTC Touch Pro2! I'm now with O2....so will be very gutted if they don’t release TP2 :-(

Keep an eye on http://mobiles.co.uk.
A mate of mine got a HD from them.
Dave
looks like they are not releasing (well not yet anyway) the Touch Pro 2 or Diamond 2 on O2!
this is ridiculous comparing them to the Iphone - XDA's are totally different (and much better!)
looks like people on businees tariff will get screwed over as they won't be able to get the latest handsets.
If they are similar to the Iphone does that mean they won't release any more high end XDA's? - Windows mobile has been touch screen pretty much since day one!
O2 have really let themselves down just lately. I had an XDA Serra (Touch Pro) from them after selling my HTC branded one to make a bit of extra cash. After the HTC one was sold, the Serra died, just out of nowhere, the screen faded to black and never came back on. The buttons worked and I could even see what was meant to be on the screen through SOTI Pocket Controller on my PC, but the screen was just dead. I returned it woth the "promise" of a replacement "as soon as they were back in stock". Needless to say they never were back in stock, and what was the best thhey could offer me??? An XDA Zest. Please! They tried to sell it to me like it was the new iPhone or something. In reality, I knew more about their WinMos than the sales guy did, and to be honest that frustrated me big time, because he wouldn't listen...
So now O2 only have the XDA Ignito (Diamond) and XDA Zest available. A pretty poor selection for a company that used to have such great devices for their time. I can only see it going one way from here...iPhone, iPhone, bloody iPhone. They have already said they are not tied to HTC, which suggests to me that they are moving away to less kind-of iPhone-beater/competitor models, which they've also said they wont stock due to their exclusivity with Apple.
I do my own upgrades....get the most valuable handset O2 will give you (even if you don't like it), sell it on ebay, use the money you get back to buy the latest HTC device when it's released, sell it on when they release a new one you like the look of. Don't hold on to one for too long (I'd say 9 months is about the limit) because they'll lose too much value and you'll end up spending too much extra to get the new model you want. Keep your O2 contract running, you can still take their most valuable upgrade every 12/18 months and pocket the cash, and you get all your inclusive minutes, texts, data allowance etc.
Once you have taken the first step in forking out for the device you want (by selling your upgrade or digging deep into your own pocket), it's really just about keeping up with HTC, which isn't that hard. I now have a Rhodium/TP2 that cost me nearly nothing due to using this method of self-upgrading.
I am one of the people on that O2 thread expressing my anger.
I have the Serra at the moment and my contract is due for an upgrade 10th of August.
I am very annoyed because at the moment my only choices are the Zest (not Zinc ) and the Ignito. So what do they expect me to upgrade to?
I acquired my Serra through an insurance claim about a month ago as I broke my Stellar and they were no longer in production with O2. (Bargain!) So It is not to bad If I have to stick with it for a while, aslong as O2 do expect to release something new...
At the moment I am sure all they would offer me is the Iphone... Ha. No.
Have emailed them various times, but never really get a brilliant answer from them...
On the plus side, O2 Germany do have the Diamond 2 on sale and the Touch HD... Hope us Britain's get cut some slack to!
I've commented in that thread as well.
The bottom line is that O2 are so obviously pushing the iPoke that they think they can run a complete business model based on it. People like ourselves who look for something up to date and technically impressive are left out in the cold.
If the network won't stock it, then the choices are either ditch the network on the next upgrade or upgrade with a damn good phone you don't want, sell it on eBay and use the money towards a phone you DO want.
My wife's phone is due an upgrade in September so she can start upgrading in August. She wants the HTC Magic, but you can only get that on Vodafone. I've asked her to upgrade to the TP2 (for me), I'll sell my X1 on eBay, and use the money to buy her a HTC Magic SIM free.

Exactly what I was saying. This is by far the best method...do your own upgrades. You get the handset you want rather than what they are limited to offering you.
I've just spoken to a pretty helpful guy in retentions called Paul. His line was that the Touch Pro 2 and the Touch Diamond 2 were both going to be coming at some point, but couldn't say when because of a combination of the iphone release and looking at how well the the TP2/TD2 fare.
Interestingly he tried to pursuade me to stay with the allure of the Palm Pre (which he mistakenly said was also WM) which will be out in the next couple of months.
Thanks nosdrahcir very useful to know that O2 (might) be releasing it....but why are we getting mixed messages from O2....i'm sure they will be losing business customers to Vodafone if they continue in this way!
I just got this from our O2 business manager...
Thank you for your enquiry Mr xxxxx. We do not have any immediate plans of selling the HTC Touch Pro 2 (or the O2 equivalent) on the O2 network.
arghhh.. how frustrating
Riaz
o2 is launching the touch pro2 on 1st july in GERMANY ..
And they only announced that 5 days before the fact (3 working days).
Do you really think O2 UK will give you much more notice than that?
The correct answer is "Don't count on it".
I was on a SIM only contract with O2 with my Touch Pro. My TP is now on ebay (ends saturday) and i have started a contract with Vodafone.
When i rang up O2 there customer service was pretty ****ty (although when i rang up to cancel contract very nice. Surprising!) and they said there were a few new O2 XDA phones coming through in the next month or so and you could wait for them if you want.
As you can see i couldnt wait and now ive moved to Vodafone.
Well with it being available in Germany and in the Czech Republic now, you would hope they would bring it to the UK soon. I can wait until September/October if need be. But then I will be already 2/3 months out of contract...
New business-model
Talking with a nice telephon-girl she told me, that O2 is going to seperate mobilephones and phonecontracts. So it doesn't matter whether you buy at ebay or amazon.com or at o2. I think there will be some paying-models - but in future the phone and your contract should be seperately sold.
Also Vertrag und Telefon werden getrennt verkauft und nicht wie bisher üblich gemeinsam.
got mine from mobile.co.uk
well started with the touch hd
dropped on floor screen cracked then the insurance with o2 sent me the lovely pro 2
lucky me
I hate T-Mobile!!!!! Well I love them up until now.
Theytold me when I renewed my contract over a week ago that the HTC Desire was in high demand and it would take 10 days to deliver! Ok not a problem they are now telling me though they have no idea when they will be able to get it to me and advised me to phone my local store (as I deal with the contact center). My local store is refusing to answer the phone and I have tried T-Mobile stores all across the county and they all have massive waiting lists and not accepting any more names :-(
They also said they would buy from Carphone Warehouse but none of their stores are answering the phones......
My last attempt one of the suppliers my company deals with on a weekly basis have 5 HTC Desires sitting in the warehouse ready for purchase but T-Mobile are refusing to let me get it from there! I can't afford to buy it myself and I don't see any harm in them buying it from there for me. They gave me the reason that each supplier gets a different price for it so I replied with well I will pay the difference (wouldnt be alot surely) but then they changed their story saying we are not allowed to purchase from companies that are not T-Mobile Accredited!!!!
This is winding me up now. Its my birthday tomorrow and I really want my new phone but I can't afford to buy one myself!!!!!
Sorry just having a rant. Anyone here work for a T-Mobile store and can get me one on my contract?
Man that sucks. I don't think its just t mobiles fault. Htc are having a mere getting hold of the AMOLED screens, as the manufacturers (samsung) are keeping them to themselves for their galaxy s phones. (and are probably enjoying having their main rival in the android handset market over a barrel.)
Could be some time for htc to get the phone altered to use the SLCD screens. Google amoled + htc + samsung for a better explanation than mine!
In the mean time, what is t mobiles "cooling off period" for sending a handset back after it being supplied? You could use this opportunity to try out the competition, and send the thing back before the dead line and try something else!
Make enough of a nuisance of yourself and you may move up the priority list!
Who knows, you may end up liking either a sony x10 or a galaxy s. If I could not have a desire, I'd lean towards the galaxy s.

That's a bit out of order from Samsung, if they had an agreement they have to fulfill it with HTC...
Well when my Desire stopped vibrating I called up T-Mobile (This was within the first week of release) and the rep told me they had around 900 Desires in that morning and by 16:46 the same day they had 54 left. I got number 52 as two had been sold whilst I was explaining my problem. That was in April.
So either the phone is much more popular than I thought and HTC can't make them quick enough (which is likely due to AMOLED shortages) or they didn't expect such a high demand after the initial early adopter phase (First month).
Sounds like you are not making enough fuss to customer services!
I phoned orange up a couple of months ago as I was getting the same stuff.
First they said they were in stock and I could have a really decent contract with free phone!!!, but... literally phoned about 20 mins later to make an order and it had changed to 300 mins less and £50 for the phone! and the best part was they said stock would be another 2 weeks to a month and I can't go on the waiting list as it's full!
Pissed off, I decided to go to high street stores to get a more expensive contract and alas, no-one had any and if they did I was told that the tariff I was on would mean I would have to pay £75 for the phone!!!
So I got home, got myself in a strop and phoned orange to complain, funny enough they added me to the list (before it was full), they said when the phone was in stock they would text me and as soon as the text came through I needed to call them straight away as it was first come first serve after the text was received.
Patiently waiting (not) I decided to call the next day to find out whether it had come in, they said yes and were sending the texts out to everyone now, with 6000 odd people on the list I didn't fancy my chances!
Somehow while trying to get them to haggle on the contract (cancellations dept) which they did in the end - gave me a great contract, god opened up the heavens and I got my text whilst on the phone, the lady sounded like she didn't believe but I gave her the code and she said congrats and that I could reserve a black one!!
The next day there is my shiny new Desire on my doorstep!!!
The End... lol
they seem to have it in stock on the t-mob website:

Man that sucks. I don't think its just t mobiles fault. Htc are having a mere getting hold of the AMOLED screens, as the manufacturers (samsung) are keeping them to themselves for their galaxy s phones. (and are probably enjoying having their main rival in the android handset market over a barrel.)

Judging by reports, galaxy s is the best sold phone in South Korea ever since it was released, and it surpased Iphone in sale numbers around the world. Samsung is planning to sell 10 million pieces of this phone...
T-Mobile and their stores are getting regular deliveries but because there is such a backlog they go before they even reach the shelf!
I spent the whole day on the phone to T-mobile yesterday they were phoning around all the stores in the county as well as Carephone Warehouse (who none of their stores were answering)
There was stock at one of our local suppliers but T-Mobile refused to purchase from there.
I finally late yesterday managed to get hold of Carphone Warehouse local to me who told me they had sold 10 that day and there was 1 left so I told them to hide that phone and keep it for me and went down there after work and collected so I finally have my Desire
T-Mobile did lie though and said it would be free but I had to pay another £30 to get it :-( - Better than waiting for months though
By the way I don't like the Samsung's
Not a device for me
Good news. You'll love this phone. Give the battery a few charge cycles before expecting to see it's full performance tho. Its worrying at first!

You should have switched to another network
Well wr8_utd, There is that option but using the points below you can see why I dont:
> o2 - Had very poor experiences and hate them - My company used them as well when I fist joined and nothing but problems
> Orange - Poor to no signal in my local area
> 3 - Heard lots of problems about them
> Small dealers like Tesco - Can't offer me what I want
> Virgin - My dads on it and he doesn't get a signal anywhere! No point in having a mobile
> Vodafone - Possibly a viable option - Who my company is currently with and apart from two months having a bill around £6,000 for one handset they have been good.
> T-Mobile - I have been a very loyal customer for I think it must be about 6 years now (back when they were 1-to-1?) That gives me negotiation points
> T-Mobile - I have brought many customers to them over the last few years through my account - again adding to my negotiation powers
> T-Mobile - Always offer me exactly what I want (even when they don't have a contract that offers exactly what I want) - For instance When I wanted the HD2 to get it free their cheapest contract was £40 per month. I told them I wanted that phone for free but only pay £30 per month + wanted unlimited internet but I was happy to juggle min and texts with them and they were happy to comply
> T-Mobile - One of the best Customer Support Centres I have ever experienced. apart from one or two prats over there who don't know what they are talking about they are normally very kind / generaly know what they are talking about / normally answer quite quickly (until recently but select that you are leaving them and they answer very quickly )
> For what I am on every other network seems to charge me more
> HTC Desire - Seems out of stock with every network...
Now you can see my logic behind sticking with them.
Hehe yeah I can see why now
Is it out of stock at stores as well now?
Oh and how is the 3 Network?
As I said above I haven't personally used the 3 network but I haven't heard a single good word about it, its all been bad so I am not tempted to go near them.
All the T-mobile stores have massive waiting lists, Online shops all over the place say out of stock. All my suppliers at work apart from one our out of stock (even the mobile specialists suppliers are out of it) So I imagine its the same all round. The trick is to keep trying every day I was lucky, Our local carephone warehouse received stock in the morning I was ringing them all day but they were under staffed and too busy to answer the call. Finally got through to them abour 2pm and they had one left which they hid away and reserved for me
Nothing wrong with 3 UK service is improved from their call centre and shops are fab .. good deals as well plus the bombed all other companies out of the water £349.99 for unlocked unbranded desire when they first came out
Give em a go oh and very few two year contracts most eighteen months
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Oh forgot to add they were poor at beginning when they first started hence poor reports but honest they are probably on of the best now (just get unbranded handset if you do their firmware updates are the only issue )

2 other option is
1) Get them to buy a nexus one for you and flash it
2) Get a wildfire
I intend to get one of the 3 Desire deals and unlock it. Will I have any issues after I unlock it?
meteor
i had problems getting my desire too, it was meteor in ireland i vent to 3 shops and they said they don't have them in stock and the third shop guy said they dont have it and he offered legend instead but some miracle happened when i said no he went to check stock second time and he brought phone over, they are acting strange ..
i hate t-mobile i have been with them over 8 years and they still treat me like S**T i only stay with them as its cheapest option but there like virgin terrible Cusomer support but as long as you never have to deal with them its mostly good. i personally went and got a desire off ebay 280 new, and a £10 pay monthly sim which was cheapest option and didnt tie me into a long contract which i hate especially with a company i dont like lol. mind you all phone companies need a slap for using the word unlimited to mean limited how much more proof do you need the benter then a 50p note.
today I went to a T-Mobile store in Bellueve to see if it is true that you will never find a Windows Phone 7 on display. As I was looking around for Windows Phone 7, I did not see any Windows Phone 7. All I see were shevels and display of android phones. I made an attempt to ask one of the salesclerk, and told me because Windows phones aren't selling, they didn't want to waste the shelf display. I am really upset at T-Mobile, and I think Microsoft should investigate into this practice. No wonder their phones are not selling.
When I went to try the HD7 back at the end of November they had two phones on display, they even had and HD2 on display.

I bought mine via Amazon wireless, with T-Mobile contract. I am very disappointed that I am thinking about canceling my contract with them, but I must find ways to cancel without getting charge.

Weird, the T-Mobile store in my City had the HD7 plastered everywhere.
I have noticed a difference with att stores and att authorized stores which look like an att store but they are privately owned. I assume it is the same with T-mobile. The authorized stores will push there highest end phones that are not neccesarily the newest or best phone out considering they want to rid their inventory; so they will try to sell you anything high end that most of the time they have little to no knowledge about haha.

Gonna have to call shenanigans. Almost every decent AT&T store I've been in has a display unit for pretty much every phone they carry barring maybe a few feature phones and dumbphones. But as far as smartphones go, they almost always have at least 1 display unit for every phone.
I used to have AT&T, so I've been in a LOT of AT&T stores
T-Mobile stores are just full of lazy employees. There's a 50% chance the phone you want to try will either not be on display, or the reps unplugged it and let the battery run out.
I don't know. Around me I have four T-Mobile stores. Each one has a Vibrant, MT4G, HD2 and HD7 running side-by-side. Only one store had the HD7 not working because it was played with so much that it was always in need of a charge.
The problem at these stores is that they were selling the HD7s, but most of them were returned within days of the purchase. According to the sales people the reasons varied. I think most of them were returned because they weren't what people were expecting. However, the sales people were actively pushing it over the Android phones.

Uh, the Bellevue (Factoria) has an HD7 on display. It's on the left hand side of the store when you walk in.
The RTC store has one on the left hand side of the store on the upper display when you walk in the door from the main street.
Are you referring to the Bell Square store? While I can't vouch for it, I'm quite confident that they have one on display. Since I'll be there tomorrow, I'm more than happy to take a photo of it.
Cheers!

which exact t-mobile bellevue store did you go to?
exact location is needed.
The T-mobile store in my area isn't even selling WP7 devices, but all the Tmo Stores in the City over have the glass covered with ads. I think it has something to do with whethers its an authorized reseller or an official store. Because T-mobile will market every device. Unlike official stores, authorized resellers will only sell what they see fit. Couple years back the same store in my area would sell the G1 and stop selling sidekicks.
really... we need two of these threads?

These type if things happen to all the newcomer OSes. It happened to WebOS on Verizon, Android on AT&T somewhat, etc. While reps should be objective and respond to the customers needs, anytime you have something that isn't understood and you have humans with preferences this will always be the outcome. Just give time for Windows Phone 7 to mature and I'm sure the attitude will Change.

T-Mobile staff don't seem to know much. Was told 11th and 15th as release dates, was given incorrect specs. ..just gonna wait and see
Did you order the LTE version and what colour? Also, what deal did you manage to get from them?
I was under the impression that they'll be released on the 15th of this month
I got a deal of £31 per mth, £40 for handset, 300 mins x network, unlimited calls to t-mob, 1.5gb download, 3gb bt openzone wifi. 24 mths.
prob not best deal, easpecially on mins and txts, but to be honest i dont use much, i just want the latest phones.
I would imagine (hope) that t-mob would only sell the LTE version as they are the ones pioneering 4G? will keep an eye out though, if can get a better deal will do so.. (limited to networks i can use as 02 doesnt work where i live and am waiting on a three sim to try there network.)

I have 2 lines one of which is always with unltd calls so something like this would suit me just fine for the 2nd line. As i said i was under the impression that they'll be releasing this phone on the 15th...I just had another look on their website and the deal you got isn't mentioned BUT the only version they have IS the LTE one. So if or when you do get it, update us please? I think a lot of people like me are holding off on this phone waiting for the LTE 4G ready version.

Its peculiar they released a non lte version in the UK. Arguably it's cheap and not in the interest of the customer, the main focus of any good supplier. That's something Apple and Samsung have in common - the smell of their own farts in their nostrils. The latter at least makes phones rather than toys.
Some might argue they don't mind having no lte chip but it's a stretch to say they're better off and it's Samsung's fault. They might release new models every 6 months but in your mind how long should a £500+ phone function as an admirable device? If lte was brand new then it would be excusable but its been obvious for a while what a future proof device for the UK would need although only recently was it known roughly when. If they do release a sim free version of the 7105 (they better do) AND it has all the UK present(nearly) and future bands of lte but they price it at £700 then their behaviour is acceptable but their prices criminal.
This my opinion, and it leads me into your camp. Maybe I'm just jealous my desires don't allow me to be the first to own this device like the hundreds of happy customers on here. Samsung are training me to be a patient and sensible consumer, not a good idea.

I agree and would add that not releasing a 32 or 64gb version is just a ploy to make more money later on. Forcing people on to the 16gb NON-LTE version is just a dirty business tactic. And before anyone says 'oh but they probably couldn't have them ready in time' Lets not forget that Samsung are one of the biggest memory manufacturers in the world (if not the biggest?). So would have been a piece of cake to swap out the internal memory.
And about being jealous lol. I was dead set on getting the S3 when that was released but waited for my upgrade to be due. Then i heard rumours of this beast and decided to wait. I watched the presentation live and thought THIS is my next phone. I recently tried it out in the shops and it's....BIG....in a good way? i think lol. Reading people's views on here i think i'll get used to it...Now do i wait for the LTE version of this, get the LTE version of the S3 or wait a month more for the Nexus phones to be released? Argh I hate having to make this decision.
We share the dilemma, except I've written off the s3 my missus has one and although very good its just an inferior note 2 with screen size a preference consideration.
I'll be getting the note 2, either lte or not, depending on the price differential (£518 the cheapest so far). I know the new nexus will probably be excellent but I don't have to let that serve to make this device look worse.
I'm disappointing with Samsung, I'll say again they've lost customer focus at the crucial marketing and sales level. Its all about profit and market share. They should treat their customers less like Apple does, as mindless sheep who'll believe, and do, anything to be told their sexy. And more like children who need protecting from their ignorance. That's not an insult or even pessimism, it's a rationalisation of the fact mobile phone hardware is a boring subject to most people. If they released both models at the same time and it was made clear then fine. But giving one choice caused confusion, its not like called it:
"Galaxy Note II (No LTE)"

+1 to that ^^^ I think the technique is designed to spread sales and I will not buy until at least the 32GB is available - 16GB is just too small considering you can't install apps (easily) on the external SD. However, sammy is sure to loose "some" customers if they leave it too long as newer phones are released and, if they leave it a really long time, the rumours of the SGNIII start to build tempting others (including myself) to wait for that and/or another "super phone". Still, it's only 2 weeks so far since release, give them a chance, but if we get to 4-6 months for decent internal SD size I might have found an alternative device (you never know, as this is a new "hot" format). Personally I reckon they'd have been better off releasing all sizes at launch - I'd have jumped straight onto the (likely much more expensive) 64GB but now if the 32GB comes out before the 64GB I'll get that (likely at a lower price) and will not upgrade to a 64GB when that is released - so they will loose money from me. They "may" of course drop the price of the 16GB when the higher sizes are released but, based on the SGIII, I think that is unlikely.
LTE doesn't really bother me that much, 4G will be a couple of years before it is common place (and I live way out in the countryside 3G is pretty poor here still!) - I'll be upgrading by then and, for some reason, I never sell my old phones - usually de-sim them and give them to the kids as games machines
Waiting impatiently...........
Lol I've got all my old phones too (except a few stolen ones) even though I always keep em pristine for resale value.
Haha
The lack of storage sizes is foolishly annoying, I understand it for the s3 the majority of people who bought one wouldn't give it a second thought. But the note 2 is a different market, with much more media entertainment focused purposes.
As you say its early days and its my own impatience that has me frustrated.
Talking about alternatives, I like the look of padphone 2.

Im literally on hold with tmobile now, going to enquire about the Note II LTE.
Im not too fussed if it is 16GB as it has the SD card capability right??
Waiting still
I've got one more month. Hopefully next year some time this phones contract price will reduce a bit. If I upgrade it will still be £30 on T mobile. Managed to get my last phone on £17 / month for 2 years (yeah right)! I took off the answer phone service which knocked off £5 / month from the the original price. Considering that at the time I was charged for calling the answer phone as well as a fiver a month I thought no thanks so saved quite a bit. Then came the 20% VAT hike and Tmobile upping the price of the contract to compensate. So I now pay a little over £21 per month.
I might have to get one a little later than I expected to.
Yep called them too. The usual clueless replies. 15th is all they know as the release date. ..they think.
I'll wait until CPW get them. Their prices can be better and their customer service strong.

Where are you based in the world?
i went into a cpw in essex and they had them in stock and ready to ship - that was probably 2+ weeks ago. i had a look at the phone (which wwasnt on / battery want in it) he could do it on orange, t-mob and one other, poss 02 but not sure..
only reason i was waiting on t-mobile direct is i have a ok offer to stay with them.
though a quick look onlien shows some web only comanies offering the note 2 for £32 per mth - 300 mins, 1.5gig data with t-mob.
+£50 cash back) just a bit weary of using online companies, as can imagine if there was a problem t-mob would say go to the web company, and web company would say talk to t-mob..
are the ones on mobiles.co.uk etc not LTE? is the difference between LTE and non LTE only 4g? as i live in the middle of nowhere LTE will not affect me so might as well get a non LTE, though i feel it should be cheaper then the LTE version...
Went into tmob shop in UK today - none on display - so I asked about it - the sales person looked at me blankly and said "we only have the note I" so I tried another one, who THB wasn't interested in speaking to me at all, "nah, not heard anything about the note II release yet, it's not out" I directed him to the 3 store opposite with a SGNII sitting in the window - "oh, yeah, we'll we will be getting it, just not sure when" I gave up at that point. 3 were very helpful and, spent a lot of time going through things with me and it turns out, for a mere £69 I get a SNGII 16GB (3G) for £36 per month with unlimited Internet and unlimited tethering included (plus pretty much infinite call time and texts - more than I would use anyway). 4G - honestly they said wont realistically be working everywhere for at least a year, probably longer but they will be getting the SGNII on 4G when they feel 4G is reliable enough. Oh and the sales rep thought that 3 had no plans to tie the handset to the network.
TBH at 3s deal I'd be saving £15 a month from my current contracts - only shame is..............no 32/64GB yet! - no store I visited had any news on 32/64GB one and all only stocked the 16GB SGNI version too. I might have to give in and get 16GB and root.
Tmobs current price plan is for 3G even for the LTE model and info sheets in store said there will be an upgrade charge to 4G and a new contract will have to be signed.
When will these stores realise customer service is important - I'd have gone with tmob because their coverage is better even tho they are slightly more expensive but not now!
Re-looked at ip5 - !!! Why did I ever even consider it - it was funny, the ip5 stands in all shops were deserted, the Sony and Samsung ones were packed - how things change lol
t-mobile do seem like utter rubbish - when you consider o2 has priority moments, orange has things like orange wednesdays and on panther you can watch stuff like sport and tv etc without using your data allowance. Three does the completely unlimited thing, vodafone has yoda as a mascot - what does t-mobile offer?
i got an email today saying finally has it in stock. plan was changed slightly - £27 per mth, but £80 for handset, i couldnt be bothered to argue or search - i wouldnt get a better mthly plan elsewhere (600 mins, 500 txts, 1.5gb data)
plus if i delayed any longer a new handset would arrive that i would want instead i.e. the padfone 2..?
so i should get my LTE SGN2 on monday, if the delivery drive can find my work place..
