Hi to great xda community. Been searching for posts and I have found answers to all but this.
I own a HTC Desire, BRAVO PVT4, S-ON, HBOOT-0.93.0001 with 5.11.05.27 radio running stock 2.2 Froyo
I have used SIM-Lock utility from this source on your forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943726
Also I have rooted my device after that using UNREVOKED3 from http://unrevoked.com/ and have done backup in recovery console.
All is working fine.
I want to S-OFF it and instal costum ROM (Cyanogen newest stable version).
My intentions are to use Revolutionary (http://revolutionary.io/) to S-OFF then wipe all and then flash cyanogen from theyr page.
So the quistions are, how do i do that without messing up my SIM lock? Are my intentions ok or is there a easyer/better way? And when do i need to do apps2sd stuff?
Why do you think you would mess up your SIM lock when using revolutionary?
Because the dev of SIM-Lock hasnt updated his post for quite a long time, there was no revolutionary for general public when he last updated. I am on diferent network for at least 6 months so i realy have to be sure it continues working.
I am pretty sure, if S-OFF "destroys" SIM-LOCK, we would have heard about it. For me, I cannot say why it should mess with SIM LOCK. I cannot guarantee it will not. So you are free to wait for some other answers.
Ok I am gona try it now, Hope for the best
EDIT: Revolutionary worked, now i go for the costum rom Thx Matdroid

Hi, I have posted this before but it got deleted because I very stupidly posted it in the wrong place.
My question has been answered before due to searching but no one else happens to be in my EXACT situation and I don't want to mess up my phone.
Basically my Desire HD is rooted etc and I want to flash the Android Revolution ROM, but I havent flashed any ROM's since my OLD G1 and now everyone talks about S-OFF etc and I don't understand these, on my G1 it was simply rooting and flashing a Recovery and then flashing a ROM, so basically what do I need to flash this ROM
My situation:
I am running the stock ROM (permroot on 1.32.405.6)
I have stock radio
I have Clockwork mod 3.0.0.6
and Buzz Sense 1.3 + OC (OC'd 1.6Ghz) kernel.
(+Ever since I downgraded from 1.72 I have lost wi-fi, it connected to my wi-fi but I get no internet access through it, its definitely a problem with the phone and nothing else because I have tested my router etc, all my other devices have connectivity through my router)
We all were in your exact situation. The Desire HD employs an extra level of security to prevent users messing with their handsets, S-ON.
You need to turn this off, Ideally ENG (Engineering) S-OFF, before you can make persistent changes to your system.
Have a read through the very helpful guides in the Dev section. They also contain the tools you need. Turning S-OFF should be a one time process only, i.e once you've done it there is no need to repeat it to flash another ROM.
Hope that helps.

Sorry I forgot to mention that I have SHIP S-OFF and I'm unable to get ENG S-OFF because when I used the Easy S-OFF tool it can only give me SHIP S-OFF for some reason, I cant do anything now since its incompatible with my kernel as well. Can I flash a ROM with just SHIP S-OFF? I don't want to flash any radios because I bricked my G1 about 4 million times when flashing radios.
It you run a 1.32 WWE RUU and revert back to stock you can then reapply ENG S-OFF. A bit of a ball ache I know.
Most ROMs will work just fine with SHIP S-OFF but ENG is usually preferred.
To flash a radio you need Radio S-OFF another beast entirely. However there is a very good too to do it with. No bricks so far and your DHD will then have super CID and be SIM unlocked.

Just tick the "I have radio s-off" box and it becomes compatible with everything.
follow my guide in the sig and skip to eng s-off and radio s-off part, or skip to whatever comes next if you've already done them
Tried that, I get a "Connection Error", I have made sure its fully connected as "Disk Drive" and I allow the Super User request when I do it, but it still doesn't work, plus the radio tool just says "Incompatible kernel" - or something like that.
I mainly want to know, can I flash Android Revolution in my current situation, can I flash with just SHIP S-OFF and my current kernel, or do I have to go back to stock kernel, flash the ROM and then flash my kernel back?
and why should I have ENG S-OFF, if it makes a lot of difference I will give it ago, but I mainly want to just flash this ROM to see if it fixes my wifi issue and my camera doesn't drop so many frames! (known issue in 1.32, fixed in 1.7X)
Disk Drive. Yeah, read the guide again more carefully, mate... And change the tool, why are you using easy radio tool!? It won't give you ENG S-OFF. My ENG S-OFF tool will give you that. And it most definitely will not say incompatible kernel if you just tick the box I talked about.
You can flash ARHD now. Do not mess around with it's kernel after flashing, because it comes with the best kernel out there. The kernel has been made to fit ARHD's needs.

I get the same as every other time, downloads the Easy S-OFF tool, "Pushing stuff to SD" Phone says "Unknown has been granted su access" and then the tool says "Error: Connection Problem!" - I get this every time, I have tried re-downloading this software every time, removing the "Unknown" in super user and then re-allowing it when it asks, I still get the same error...
Does it matter that I'm using Windows 7 64-bit?
EDIT: I think I've done it now, I downloaded the latest 2.3 SDK (I had 2.2) which updated my ADB drives, I didn't get the error this time, will boot into H-BOOT and check now.
Are you still using that disk drive mode? Because you should not.
THANKS
I have thanked everyones post, I can confirm my H-BOOT Now says PVT ENG S-OFF, one last thing, I'm all good to flash now? I can just put the ROM (sense version) on my SD card and flash it in CWM, with my current kernel, even though it will over write it with the one included for Android Revolution, I dont have to go back to stock kernel or anything first right?
Thanks again
Have you flashed ClockworkMod Recovery yet? If not download ROM Manager from the Market and flash it from there.
Once that is complete, download ROM, put on SD Card, Recovery, Wipe, Flash, Enjoy.

Note the very first post "Clockword mod 3.0.0.6" so in answer, yes.
Your good to go then, happy flashing.
Hi guys
First, thanks for a great forum, with great users, i really appreciate to read and learn here..
And i now think it's about time to move on and root my DHD and flash a custom rom..
BUT..
I am confused about up/downgrading my stock rom, and what the meaning of flashing the radio is, and why one radio is better than another, for every custom rom..
Android version
2.3.3
Basebandversion
12.54.60.25U_26.09.11_M2
Version
2.50.405.2 CL 87995
With that info, could any of you guys give me some hints, on what to do as a start?
I have searched for some answers, but it does only make me more confuse about it, when i have this version of stock rom.
Thank you for your time
Hi, welcome to XDA Dev forum.
To cut this short, tu fully unlock the phone, one must must root, do ENG S-OFF and radio S-OFF.
BUT, its only applicable to stock rom build 2.37 and later version (2.42 and newer has not be able to root yet).
However, you can still proceed if you're already done ENG S-OFF (check in bootloader - press volume down+power button when turning on the phone, look for ENG S-ON or SHIP S-OFF status).

Thank you
I have not done ENG S-OFF, so that sucks to be me right now.
Hope that someone soon makes it possible
Thank you for your answer
My friend just gave me his EVO 4G. Now, as the username suggests, I get to finally replace my Hero.
I wish to unroot it, go stock, and upgrade to the newest official version of Gingerbread. He currently has "King's Room hybrid 3D".
He said he used "Unrevoked". Is there a difference between "Unrevoked" and "Unrevoked Forever"?
Supersonic EVT2-3 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-2.10.0001
RADIO-2.15.00.11.19
HTC Sync has never worked on my computer, so I'm stuck doing this SD.
I can't post in the Development forum and I haven't had any luck finding a thread where a) root is unknown b) unroot from SD. Please move this thread, if necessary.
Please help
1. You don't need to unroot to be on the latest 'official gingerbread' ; There are a few stock rooted roms [nothing fancy, i.e, stock] in the dev section, by brad and i beleive miseryinmotion. Just do a full wipe, then flash the rom. This is best so you can change. In addition, if you go to the latest OTA, rooting it is NOT simple.
2. Unrevoked forever was a zip used to give you root in the early ons of the tool, but the 'forever' zip was integrated into the simple unrevoked tool. The 'forever' was that is gave you nand unlock.
Please heed teh roxxorz. He is absolutely correct. There is no need to unroot to get the official latest GB ROM . It is available here in the forum, along with MANY other custom ROMs, and kernels which may become difficult or impossible for you to try if you unroot now and update your hboot thru an OTA or RUU.
From what I understand, revolutionary doesn't work to root the latest hboot. There is the HTCdev unlock, but that leaves you S-on (nand locked), which I believe means no flashing radios or kernels.
Welcome to the Evo community. You will always find better goods here than what sprint has to offer, but if you want what sprint has to offer,...well, that's here, too. Good luck.
Edit: the hboot 2.10 and radio 11.19 that you currently have is what many members here have been desperately trying to downgrade to (after having a phone replaced or inadvertently taking on OTA ) so they can achieve the S-off status that you currently possess. Lol
Just thought that was amusing and worth pointing out.

Hello
I've been asked by my dad to root his HTC Desire, to remove bloat and make it faster and last longer, etc etc.
But i've run into some problems. (Let me just say i'm not a complete noob at rooting, i've rooted Desire HD, EVO 3D and a Prime tablet before, and flashed roms etc etc)
I've successfully downgraded it from Android 2.2 with HBOOT 1.02 (i think thats the one) to Android 2.1 with HBOOT 0.80. And i've succesfully rooted it.
Now i want to S-OFF the device, but Revolutionary doesn't support the HBOOT 0.80, it requires 0.93 or 1.02.
I've also read about the AlphaRev S-OFF method, but thats super old and it even says to use Revolutionary.
My end plan is to install LeeDroid rom (My dad wants to keep HTC Sense, but want it fast, and LeeDroid was the best rom i could find for this, or is there something better?).
In LeeDroid it also says it needs to create a ext-3 partition with ROM Manager, but i can't even find ROM Manager on the market, is that because of the fact that i'm currently running android 2.1, or?
I hope some good people out here can help me with my problems

First off: Don't use "bump" posts after just 10 hours. This is not "Instant Help".
Alpharev may be old, but works fine.
Don't even think about using ROM Manager, it will break your phone. Create the ext partition with gparted.
I don't know about Sense Roms, but i think you can use just any. Depends on which version you prefer. Best for performance and battery life should be the lower ones, like LeeDroid.

I quote everything.
I have S-OFFed my Desire with Alpharev and encountered no problem at all.
a) use alpharev
b) upgrade to 2.3 ruu and use revolutionary
c) rtfm made by Bortak

Revolutionary would be the easiest option. A few clicks and your phone is rooted, S-off and has clockworkmod recovery.

Really? Even OP knows this.....
So today I got Desire Z. It's nice, I really love Sense 2.1 (or mostly it's LockScreen), but KK (with it ) would be better.
Now, as it's old phone and old forum, cannot find what and how to do.
I found this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-desire-z/help/complete-guide-to-root-downgrade-t3332619
Is that would I need to do or there is something easier?
Right now I have stock 2.42.405.3 and available update (6,55Mb so probably .4) and HBOOT-0.85.0013 with S-OFF (so previous user probably was playing with this device).
What I should do now?

Hey buddy,
Take a look through the first few posts here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2348266&page=16
It may seem like a lot but it will be worth it
So it seems that for fastboot I need this Engineering HBoot or after S-OFF I have full access?
Coz all guides for Eng HBoot are for downgraded devices and all the guides for downgrading are for S-ON devices...
However I've also found that Eng HBoot was used when S-OFF was not possible and now it's not recommended, what can mean that S-OFF gives access to Fastboot same way the Eng HBoot?
If ti is true, than flashing Recovery will be easy and than I can check Roms
I know I'm missing something, but cannot find it...

Correct, you have what we call fake s-off and only gives you a bit of help flashing your phone, to get true s-off the preferred method is to go back to stock and then downgrade and root with gfree
Relatively easy but a few steps needed first
If you have a chance to go to g2root on freenode iirc there is a good likelihood that guhl is there and will walk you through it all
If not then feel free to ask again and i can lay out some instructions for you hete

EDIT: It seems I have more time that I thought, so I'm checkin this g2root irc and waiting for someones answer
However if somebody could answer me one thing: With this fake S-OFF is it safe to downgrade using this method: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912
Is it needed?
And what exactly S-OFF gives? Fastboot access like this Eng HBoot (at the beginning thought that it's HBoot from UK DZ/G2 )? Coz thats what I need : to flash CWM and than KK.
Downgraded, flashed Eng HBoot and CWM and KK is here. But I dont like it [emoji14] GB is coming...
